And trust me, i am probably a negative on the scale level. I have all this polymer clay that i bought to dabble with for jewelry making. Two days ago was my first try at making a cane. It didn't turn out exactly how i envisioned but i am learning. I saw your video nd fell in love with the spiraling. I so longed to be able to do that even with my limited skills. But I'm telling you, i think i can do it! It may take some trial nd error, but I'm going to go for it!! Thank you for making this tutorial. Even though your last video was 4 years ago, my hope is that you make a return, maybe. Hopefully. It'd be an awesome comeback.

@@MotleyWoods Noooo! Don’t slow down; tell folks they can set the speed slower using the “gear” icon. When people drone on super-slowly, I’m forced to watch at 2x speed, and sometimes, even _that’s_ not enough! Life’s too short to watch people making gradients by rolling clay through the pasta machine twenty times, and then reducing a cane for half an hour. I really wish folks’d instead follow Fiona Abel-Smith’s lead and link in the description to Skinner blend-making and cane-reducing vids so those who need ‘em can see ‘em and those of us who don’t don’t hafta sit here tapping to get through the boring parts, then having to go back again because we misguessed where the dull part ended. (I don’t understand why people don’t know how to speed up and slow down vids after all this time! RUclips’s been around a couple decades, and folks should know its features by now!) Thanks for the handy tips so my paradox canes come out a little straighter! This is a great cane. I have not watched a tutorial from you before and while I really appreciate you pointing out the critical steps, I wish you could have slowed down when putting the 3 pieces together. You dont have to talk thru it all, but slowing down would have been very helpful as well. I felt like you were on the clock and if you went over it would be disastrous. wow this caught my eye real quick so beautiful, I'm all into polymer clay now, Katos ok but not foe fine facial details, be sculpting like when you stick a pin in a cushion other then that its nice and firme
Thank you very much for your tutorial. Did you try other brand? I'm actually using Cernit and some Fimo Professional. Could it work with these two brands?
Caning can work with any brand clay, though firmer brands tend to work better. Mixing clay doesn’t always work well unless it’s all the same percentages, since different clays move differently under pressure. Cernit can be sloppy, so you may need to leech it first. Fimo pro is very firm and likely quite good. Most folks use premo in the US, and it’s what I started with, but switched to kato and have been happier. If you’re happy with the results you have from your clay brand there’s no reason to switch, and unless your clay is very soft (Eg Sculpey III) it’s unlikely that switching clay brands will dramatically change how good your canes are. If you were to categorize the level of skills to make the cane, I would say intermediate. The blending part was so fast as well as when you started filling with the black.

You just need to do it. Learn the basics and following a tutorial like this will make it easier then you might think.
