- Today we continue exploring the new 1.19 features, firstly by figuring out how we can farm the Mangrove logs. Then we head to the Basalt Deltas to setup a Froglight farm.

Etho in your new tree farm rather than shielding the mud, just have a layer of water in the bottom of the farm and plant the propagules in it. That way the TNT won't blow up the bottom of the farm.

@@Jackstermax I loved all the random transitions with "yo mama" jokes... The chat message that just fades away as the new shot starts. The pickaxe named "yo mama" in Latin. Etho is such a great character!

I like the 'Cold Open' intros Etho does sometimes, when he starts off with a mini montage or something goofy happening in game. a good example for this episode could have been the weird baby piglin with his netherrack lol, sort of sets the tone. Though I realise coming up with goofy stuff all the time gets exhausting, and really, I personally just hope Etho can do what he likes for each video and keeps it fresh for himself.
I think it's been said before, but Etho's videos are like this alternate world that feels very comfortable to me, and that wont change if it's "Whats up" or whatever he feels like that day.
Ya and also… the word cringe is kinda cringe. Most of the time I hardly even notice his intros, unless there something interesting, but to call them cringe just feels misplaced. At worst they’re boring, and other wise the uninteresting intros just feel like a Segway into the video, nothing more or less. While the comment seamed like it wasn’t trying to be mean or offensive, it came off very condescending almost.
nah, I hate to watch a clip that I will see anyway later into the video. Just a nice "hello everybody" is perfect. It's the rest of the video that's the main point to watch, not the intro.
the first etho video I watched was one where he was playing around with block gravity mechanics in a creative world and then did a smooth transition through a hole in the ground into the mancave… I don't expect him to come up with a wacky intro every time but it is memorable when he does! maybe some more experimenting-with-mechanics openings would be cool?

I've never minded the calming down of intros, we all started watching you as a kid etho but now we all still watch you and are adults so I'd say it's a completely normal way to look at it. What I have been missing though are the creative transitions, for example where you box yourself up in a 1x2 then break the blocks into the next scene and so on. Regardless always love the content!

Or the "_____ bamboo" of the hermit S7 days. Probably a little easier to edit too. I know he's mentioned in another comments of the day that the custom note block transition music was really time consuming (and not technically legal).
I find that calm sounding RUclipsrs last longer in my subscriptions list
I like the "What's up guys". Changing things up every once in a while is good so things don't get stale but if it happens all the time then it just becomes like random noise.
It's nice that there's some consistency so I know when I see a new video that I'll probably enjoy it as much as the other ones

Im pretty sure he talked about why he cant do them anymore. I dont remember exactly but i think it was because of DMCA stuff from youtube because you know corporate greed is cool.
@@Amplefii it was basically that all the fun songs for him to convert into noteblocks are copyrighted and so it was causing issues. (He explained it at the start of Hermitcraft S8)

I think there was some copyright issues that made him stop along with maxing out the capabilities of the note blocks
To me, the "helloooo everybody" is kind of comforting? It's very relaxing to sit down with an Etho episode, because I know whatever you end up doing that day, I'm gonna enjoy it. The intro exudes familiarity and comfort, but you also break it up just enough that it keeps the excitement there. Maybe I'm just getting old ^^" but it's nice to know I can expect fun and the same 'ole Etho I've always know when sitting down with one of your videos.

Yeah I find that intro very comforting as well! Honestly any of his intros are all just calming, comforting, or goofy, and it's not like a whack in your face surprise attack that most youtubers do
it’s so friendly sounding and it feels like we’re just picking up where we left off with the last episode, which is nice. long or over the top intros feel like they should be reserved for beginning something new
@@silverxpanda5852 yes!! Ethos videos are like curling up in front of a warm fire on a cold night with a cup of hot cocoa. It's warming, inviting, comforting, and familiar. His intro is like the fuzzy blanket we wrap ourselves in, sure we usually grab the same one, but we keep it the same for a reason. It's homely and very Etho. When we click on an Etho video we know we're getting Etho and his intro is HIM. It's our little introduction to who the slabman is himself, and he's a sweet, welcoming person!

*_Etho about the wither skelly farm:_* They did make some changes to light levels of wither skeletons spawning, they spawn in *_light level 11_* and under now.
After the 1.18 change to prevent mobs spawning in any light level other than light level 0 they reversed these changes in 1.19 for some nether mobs because it made the nether too easy. The light level value they chose for these nether mobs including wither skeletons is light level 11 and lower instead of the old 7 and lower so this is probably what is breaking your farm Etho.

Regarding the intro, honestly I've just always loved you doing whatever it is you want to do! I've never once found "hey guys" cringe or whatever... Besides, the occasional change up when inspired just makes those more special and attention grabbing when you want to add a little lore or something to the series :D

I was 16 when I first started watching you back in summer 2011, now I'll be 28 soon. You've got a formula that works for you and your much wider audience.
I just had a revelation as to why I love Etho’s content so much, besides nearly a decade’s worth of accumulated nostalgia. Its *cozy.* Relaxing. Comforting. Its like a comfort food for the mind. Whenever life happens, and things get crazy, Etho is always there to make things alright again for just a bit.

Yeah, either way its classic Etho. What's up guys works just fine as a generic thing, but every once in a while something a bit different is nice to see Etho's full creativity at work.

As an older viewer I like your casual 'whats up guys'. I also really like how every so often you have a strange opening which is funny to watch. But most of the time, it's relaxing just to tune into you not yelling in our ears or 'leave a like and subscribe' and all that. But maybe I'm just getting old and find that stuff jarring.

I personally really enjoy the chill "what's up guys?" style of intro. It makes me feel like I'm sitting down with a friend to just play Minecraft amd have some fun. Keep doing what feels right to you Etho.

I like the "what's going on everybody" intros and don't think they are cringy. I also love the silly intros, but I think if you tried to make every intro a silly intro they might start to feel forced.

I've been watching Etho videos for 10+ years now, and to me the entire charm of some of the silly intros was that it came out of left field. It's not that I view the channel as overly serious, but I appreciate the subtlety of humor and having the variety. To be honest, above all I'm just glad Etho is still making videos and has kept the passion alive and community growing all this time. It's a real source of comfort to me and I know I'm not alone in feeling that way.

The flooded caves at 8:37 look awesome, Maybe the man cave could expand to a flooded environment. Sounds interesting and difficult to make it workable, but the man cave hasn't had an update in Awhile.

I think that's the vast majority of his older viewers. I got a job and family to be responsible for. But when Etho uploads I make some popcorn and forget about everything for a few minutes.

I love the "what's up guys" intro, it's short and welcoming feeling. It gets into the fun and interesting video. I watch you Etho because you're more chill and laid back than a lot of other RUclipsrs. I think you've changed your style as you've become more comfortable on camera, and also as you've become aware that your audience is typically an older demographic.
I've been watching for 10+ years. When I was in my young teens, the General Spaz stuff was hysterical, and in my later teens, the random quirky stuff was interesting and funny. Now in my mod-20's, I go to Etho episodes to chill out after a hard day at work or a stressful week of adulting.
But you do you Etho, I'll watch no matter what :)

Honestly, the "what's up" is a perfectly fine intro, seamless sitting in for a good time. I've definitely laughed and grinned at some of the more special intros though, so if you've got the idea for it, I'd say run with it still.
(They have definitely changed light level spawns for Wither skeletons, among other nether mobs. There was an issue with endermen not spawning in the warped forest because of the light levels I think)
And they wanted it to be harder to spawnproof Nether fortresses. I actually thought it was impossible to stop them spawning, but someone said light level 11 is the Wither skeleton spawn level

Something about your singleplayer series feels so nostalgic to me. I haven’t played Minecraft in years, I’m in my mid 20s with a career, but yet I still find myself watching your videos as a fan of ~10 years. The what's up guys is super comforting for me, like I hear that and instantly I know the next half hour to hour is just gonna be great and I relax straight away.
It's always fun when a video starts with something different, like the noteblocks intros etc, but it's nice because they feel organic and in line with what's been interesting to you at the time.

I love that the world kinda functions as a changelog because of its history. Don't know if it actually could work as a formal bug checking tool but it's interesting to see how "insignificant" changes actually pan out over time.
Personally, I'm the type that loves a steady intro. It makes it feel warm and welcoming. Like coming back home after a weekend abroad. You've seen it a million times, you've perhaps even stopped noticing it, but it always gives you a feeling of coziness as if you've sat down with a cup of hot coco in front of the fire.
Yours and Keralis' videos give me this feeling more than any others.
Yeah much like the others "Helllooooo everybody" or "Whatsup everybody" intros are always a indicator of a relaxing and fun video. Never have I thought about your intros needing to be more specific and having fun will make or break a video
In 1.19 pre-release 1 they made endermen, wither squeletons, piglins and other mobs be able to spawn in the nether at light level 11 or lower, so that why your lava dosen't work. And they also said in the future they want to disable mobs spawning in nether portal blocks.
11:15 Yeah I think that was a change.
If I remember correctly , in one of the last 1.19 snapshots or pre releases they changed wither skelletons to be able to spawn at higher light levels.
Having a standard intro is honestly really comforting! It's a joy to see you've posted, and whenever you may decide to do a different kind of intro it makes it even more special :) As someone who used to, most people worried about cringe are just projecting anxiety. Be you, we all clearly love it!
I love the low-key hellos, however you do them. Mixing it up from time to time is fun but it should feel natural, and I'd take repetitive/classic over something forced and not in the usual spirit of things.

I love the friendliness and sincerity of the "what's up guys" style intro. It really brings that vibe of "hey, let's take a break from the worries of the world with work and clickbait, and let's just hang out and play some minecraft" :)
Personally I love the quick “What’s up guys” It was pretty cool to see the different intros you’d do to transition into the video but i think we can all agree, it’s much easier to keep things simple haha.

I hadn't even noticed the intros being the same/more chill. Though I have always enjoyed the quirkiness too (and I was already an adult when I started watching 9 years ago haha).
When there are more interesting/quirky intros now, to me they stand out and are more humorous because they're less expected!

I personally appreciate the quick “what’s up guys”, it’s become a Etho thing. Plus it’s not just a boring “what’s up” roll film because it’s usually followed by a joke or an update about progress made in the series. When there is a more unique intro it’s a special treat, that requires some level of repetition.

Etho, would you ever consider doing anymore secret streams? I enjoyed watching them or going back and watching them and they are something I really enjoy from other youtubers like Bdubs. I know you don’t really script your videos so I think streaming would come naturally to you, and if it didn’t after you did it a few times I’m sure you’d get better at it. Part of me would like to listen to you to hear stories and such because your story time episodes are probably my favorite ones, but if you didn’t want to do that because of privacy and then I’d still watch it just to listen to you talk about the game, and maybe you might enjoy talking while you do things like resource gathering to make it less tedious and boring, like you said you spent 3 hours building the mangrove tree farm and I figure that was probably pretty draining for you. I'm in my late 20s and I appreciate everything that is part of your aesthetic. I've watched Minecraft RUclips for a decade now, and the only creators I still watch as an adult are you and Xisuma. I appreciate the humble, natural, authentic tone of your videos. I'm not a kid who needs constant loud noises and goofiness to keep me simulated, I just a appreciate sitting down and hearing an adult talk about something that makes them passionate and creative. I like watching woodworking videos for the exact same reason I like Etho videos. Thank you for your contribution to the community, there's only one Etho
Starting watching in my early-mid teenage years. I'm now in my twenties. I enjoy that your content has grown up with us, sure you recognized in the past with Minecraft and such their was a lot of kids/younger people, but at this point many of your audience have grown out of some of the 'quirky' stuff you did for them, so its really nice to see you relax your approach and be true to how you feel/act.
Cool idea for the dragon statue: Turn it into a ruin. Put vines and cracked stone mess up the path and maybe drop one of the the dragon heads on the ground to make it look like it fell. Put candles and or lanterns. And block off the entrance. But keep it working with the lights and all, it'll look like a secret group it keeping it alive.
Adding a few candles and vines would be just right for this vibe
I think all of us older viewers would absolutely die for at least 1 final appearance for general spaz. Maybe a send off or something
Relatively new to your youtube videos but I really enjoy watching them. I think what most people enjoy about your videos are that they just seem so authentically you. Carry on making your videos how you wanna make them and intro them how you feel like it because they are genuine and I believe thats what attracts most people to your channel

I'm a big fan of the "Hey, everybody!" personally. ;) In regards to the mangrove tree farm, I've been struggling to adapt my quadrachopper-based design, but I think I stumbled on a solution. If I detonate on two sides of the growing platform instead of down the center, I can clear the blast chamber pretty reliably.

As for the intro, I don't mind quick intros! I think it's better to only do a "quirky" intro when you really feel it, and I appreciate those as well- in fact, I think they're even better when you don't expect them every time

I did the exact same thing the first time I encountered the frog eggs! Glad that I’m not the only one. And as someone who has been watching for around a decade the normal intros are great. And when you have a different one it’s also fun. Keep doing what you’re doing
Me personally, I love the "Get your snacks" intros. They were always great but your intros have always been fine or even just jumping right into the project planned.
Hey Etho, I took a trip down memory lane and started watching your old CTM map content. Hard to believe some of these videos are 10 years old! Vechs is still at it, even using a custom, lightweight modpack in recent maps. Any chance you'd be interested in another CTM playthrough? Thanks again for all of the memories,

I've grown up watching your videos and as I get older I agree that the simple what's up is a good way to get into the video however sometimes a funny song or quick montage can really add a fun spark to the occasional video as long as it's fitting and what you want to do with the episode. We come for the creativity and the "Etho" of it all. Whatever you choose to do just be authentic and we will enjoy it.
It's so interesting to sit and think about how long some of us have been watching you. Sometimes I go all the way back and rewatch episodes from 8 years ago and I get whiplash just thinking about how I grew up watching all of your content! When you first started and had those more quirky intros at the time they were the best and like you said as I got older and now I'm 23 I love the more true to yourself intro that you do with the more quirky ones sprinkled in every so often. I always look forward to what you post just like 8 years ago so as long as you're happy and healthy that is all I care about! Thanks for another episode!

I'm a fan of your intros! I find them very chill and friendly. All your content is my fav and I get zero cringe from any of it. Currently rewatching your 7 year old modded series and it all still holds up great. A++ work as far as I'm concerned
