I actually produced Monta Ellis with lilith! The credit isn’t on Spotify yet but it’s on bandcamp. Super honoured to be apart of this project. Really appreciate your analysis.
I empathise with the difficulty of purging ableist terms from your vocabulary, especially with how commonly used they are. AVAA, listened to the album this morning and didn't even know you covered it!
AVAA. This album kinda blew me away. I've loved a handful of tracks over the few years he's been around, but wow, this album is incredible from top to bottom. Like you said a few times here, it's crazy that someone so young can produce something that rivals the unique talents of billy woods. Don't let this one get forgotten when it comes time for the STAMPYs !!
I literally get smarter and have my worldview broadened by every video I watch, Professor. Thank you for making so much university-quality analysis available, accessible and entertaining! (And I’m pleased on a personal level to see you appearing a little more rested)
Sorry ask Skye, but can you review LowFantasy by me, I almost got lynched over it, it's just trans queer rap music. Again sorry for promoting in your immaculate comment section
AVAA ;) this was the longest vid i’ve seen from u but it was great. i actually just listened to the album before watching this and wanted to learn more about. this analysis really inspired me and taught me some stuff i didn’t know. it’s crazy that this dude is so young and well read. he is really making me want to release my art and just start on my craft earlier
AVAA professor! I really enjoyed this album, i knew what to expect from the content since i was familiar with Ghais’s other identity Goyard which he has released music under previously. I hope he does drop some political music soon too because i’m with you there on having political anger that needs expressing, one album that’s been filling that need for me is “If You See Someone Stealing Food… No You Didn’t.” by the Filipino-American communist and LA native rapper Bambu! I remember your first Ghais review you mentioned your connection to Kwame Ture, i especially like the message in “Kwame Ture Interlude” on Bambu’s album.
PLEASE review akai solo hes an amazing writer his project Only The Strong Remain was released in 2024 and its an interesting insight on how strength is developed and the victims of it
Quick Correction!!! @ 33:55 There are 2 beats not produced by Ghais on the record, the beat for Monta Ellis was not produced by Ghais, it was by purdyflacks & LILITH :))))
His last album was under the name Goyard Ibn Said and it was fantastic, his best work. That's why I'm somewhat mixed on my feeling to this album because it feels like treading the same ground a bit. The concept you talk about on this album was essentially also on that album, less explicitly, done better. This album is like a midground between his two names and loses a bit of identity from either.
I believe on 4L he mentioned on twitter that he was referencing the Borges short story "The Immortal" which has a character named Marcus Flaminius Rufus
You should really check out Immortal Technique's albums Revolutionary Vol 1 and Vol 2. Incredible albums that provide tons of political commentary from a "leftist" perspective. Despite the fact that those albums came out like 20 years ago, they are still extremely relevant, if not even more so. The song "The 4th Branch" is a really good place to start.
AVAA. I think you'd get a lot out of Pink Siifu's new album BLACK'!ANTIQUE, it'd be really great to hear your thoughts on an artist I don't think you've covered before who's operating at the peak of experimental hip-hop.
Those familiar with Marxist theory will know that he is, in fact, a materialist. A dialectical materialist. It's literally the entire philosophical foundation of Marxism.

AVAA i was hooked from the very first single, i've been onto him ever since you made that video on there will be no super slave
AVAA skye! I first heard Ghais in McKinley Dixons Beloved, paradise, jazz (amazing album btw) and I've been excited for this for a while!!
If it helps, I am a Black viewer. First time I heard of him and it’s right up my alley. Preciate it!
Glad to see some attention on the dude! I was playing the hell out of his blackbolshevik album back in 2023

AVAA, shoutout to toby, got up at the perfect time
Thank you for the kind words, Jo David is 1/1
AVAA! Btw, have you seen Timothee chalamet music performance in SNL? Great song choices from Dylan's back catalog. A pleasant surprise.
