Welp!!......That did it!! I got tired of waiting for this thing to hit the market and went ahead and got a different classic poly synth--a re-issue--the Rev2, and now...and with this vid, I'm back on the UB-Xa. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
REV 2 is massively underrated. You can simulate any vintage VCO synth, with 5, 6, 8 … up to 16, if you have the 16 voice REV 2 - voices. Most people don’t learn how to program VCO sounds on the REV 2, which is why it is so underrated.
@@scottmcauleysounds, Thank you! Oh yes, it was very quickly out of stock when it was released. You were lucky to find one pretty quickly, it's out of stock everywhere, at least in Europe.
That Behringer sounds very convincing. Just watched the clip where someone compared UB-Xa (OS2) with OB-X8 and the was extremely little diiference. Oberheim will always be Oberheim but UB-Xa will be player's synth for sure 🤘 You have made a very nice music piece with yours already
Nice. Definitely a synth I've been keeping an eye on but i dont have the space for all these full sized keyboards! I also want a Groove Synthesis 3rd Wave and a Sequential Prophet X.
This Clip made me buy that Thang. Had the Hydra some yrs ago and the PolyAT was nice but the BrassSound didn't hit me. This sounds like it could kill me softly 🔥 Stunning Demo!
Hi, I have problems with sending Sysex patches from MIDI-OX to the UB-Xa. Normal MIDI Key On/Off is working as expected. Receiving patches on MIDI-OX works fine also send & receive on Virus-KC and any other synt. Does someone know what can be wrong?
individual patch sysex patches will load in to your UB-Xa one at a time but they will not be saved to your machine until you select a save location and press save, a great function for auditioning sounds. But a full bank of UB-Xa will overwrite that entire bank. it looks like nothing has changed in the bank until you start scrolling through sounds, then you will see the new patches in there.
The action is light, the poly aftertouch and aftertouch response is very musical, but yes the bed feels a bit clicky. My D3 has a distinct spring ping every so often depending on how I play it, but overall, bearing what the purchaser gets in value for money with the UB-Xa, the keybed is perfectly adequate. Just not as quality feeling as Oberheim, Moog or Sequential.
It improves if you set the attack to 1, 2 or 3. You can safely do this without losing the initial transient. But yes there is a distinct thud that I hear will be fixed in firmware.
Behringer has a couple of FX companies but put no effects on this. Effects saved with a patch is essential these days and Behringer is moving backwards from the Deepmind concept.
The Deepmind wasn’t a remake, it has quite a lot of the JUNO106 DNA but it’s a very unique synth in its own right. I think the fact that the UBXa is 16voice VCO for under £1000 Is amazing. I think the Jupiter 16 they are developing will be the same. To try and stick to the original architecture as much as possible. I really hope they are considering the Yamaha CS80 too 🤞🤞
@@scottmcauleysounds DeepMind is a Juno with added features .The whole voice structure is exactly like the Juno. Then on top of that Behringer leveraged its ownership of fx companies and put that in. I would like to see that with the Oberheim.
@@antikytheramechanism7909 Not really, the 2nd osc derives its square wave very differently from a Juno and the Tone Mod parameter is unique to Behringer. The DM12 project began as a Juno clone but it changed direction early on, so there was never a painstaking effort to match the sound of the original like what they did with UBXa. A few minutes in the room with a DM12 and a real Juno illustrates this clearly, you can hear the difference on a basic init sawtooth wave. I love the Deepmind and think it’s still the best deal on a polysynth, but I wouldn’t advise someone to get it for Juno sounds. Even a Roland System 8 will get closer.

@@antikytheramechanism7909 the Deepmind is not a Juno clone. It was never branded or marketed as one. whaouuu can't wait to hear more from you playing this synth Scott :)
Maybe the best UB-Xa video I’ve heard!
Thanks Sam!
Absolute amazing sound and gorgeous melody
Thank you! 🙏
Definitely going to run mine through my Big Sky pedal when it arrives. Love this. Very Vangelis-y. Could be a track off of Blade Runner
Wonderful!
Thanks Mike, I love these early stages getting to know a new synth, very inspiring :)
Wow, your playing is super impressive👏👏👏….now I may rethink the possibility to buy the UBXA….
Thanks! 🙏 :)
Brilliant music

haha! Sorry! but it is lovely!
You certainly haven’t committed an error getting a Rev. 2, though. Thing is a workhorse of a synth.

Best act fast on the Prophet X. Sequential announced today that they are discontinued due to certain components no longer being available.
