To me, this is better than The Stick of Truth. Has more playable characters, is more strategic, has great dlc, the superhero theme is great and is very fun. I was absolutely obsessed during my first play through.
I love SoT, but after playing Fractured last year it really helps show some of the more annoying aspects of Stick. Namely the lack of replayability (imo) for such a short game. the shear lack of balance between the classes, with cases like Mage being absurdly broken for pretty much the entire game in any situation vs Rogue which is kind of ass in all but a few fights. and the kinda shallow build variety, since in terms of equips everyone's most likely just gonna end up with the same gear for a normal playthrough, and for the classes themselves it's basically "for mage, build around burn, everything else, bleed". Now granted this was kind of inevitable in a game where every class boils down to some version of "hit first, ask questions later" with a bit of variation. Which just makes the class design and gear system in Fractured feel more fun since you can actually make a build based on a role (for example in my most recent run I've been speccing full support since I'm trying to get the Token Experience achievement), and the Artifact and DNA system lets you try out far more varied stat layouts on the side of the strands, and more varied buffs on the side of the artifacts.
I wont lie, at first i hated the combat system for this one but when i tried it again from the beginning i realized i felt this way cuz i sucked at it. Fractured but whole is definitely a strong sequel and i eagerly await what the next game will be.
I'd LOVE to see them make a third South Park game, which is pretty likely they'll do. I'm just wondering what genre they would do for it. My best bet would be Ninja as a reference for the Good Time With Weapon episode.
Given that the new kid is gonna be a villain, that might work. Helping Professor Chaos take over South Park and fighting the ninja personas of the other kids could be fun.
Imagine it's a 2d fighting game with move customization. Fights are in the anime style of playing with weapons, but exploration uses normal south Park style.
One detail I always wondered was why they changed fantasy Kyle's weapon into a hockey stick when he used a golf club in the first game. (His attack was even hitting the ball at them!)
One thing I wish that in both games, was to include a portion of the games, even if I know it would be filler and padding, but to include a shortened school day portion. It would have added to the immersion and also built more and more of story telling for both games.
You mean like some sort of side quest that is trivia based, where you try to pass your classes? Like you get exams (trivia questions) to fill out and finish and depending on your grade you get some powerful abilities and maybe even a new class
@@frankwest5388 something like that, and to have a lunch and recess where you can interact with students and teachers outside of the main quest. Idk it would have been a huge amazing experience for me
Same tbh, I imagined that it could be like the kindergarten games, getting through the day collecting items, making new deals or allies and having that effect later aspects or options you get in the story.
@@frankwest5388 Yup, i also want to see how garrison reacts to the new kid, Eating lunch with other kids, and how the 6th graders bully the 4th graders, especially garrison bc tbh i feel like mr garrison is just a more fucked up version of cartman
I finished this game mere hours ago, and the Stick of Truth video is what got me to finally play these games after owning them for years. This upload could not have come at a better time
I've seen some speculation that the next game might be sci-fi themed with inspiration taken from Star Wars based on the fact Butters tempts you to join the dark side in this game's ending. I sure hope they actually give you the option to join him. I wanna cause some chaos with my boy.
Yeah but it's a very limited cast, also mint berry crunch is not in the main game and the jury is still up on timmy its weird meanwhile we know that both Mysterion and the new kid have super powers 100%
I actually managed to beat Morgan Freeman in my first playthrough without the final time fart power and any of the DLC. The strategy is to use Craig and Wendy as both have moves that aggro enemies to them while making them invincible for that turn, while having the downside of using it only every other turn. But with both Craig and Wendy you can swap between them. Since you're only fighting Freeman, you can essentially ping pong him with Craig and Wendy while having both yourself and your 3rd party member (preferably support since Freeman hits hard.)
One thing I really appreciated about fractured but whole was the inclusion of accessibility features, I have borderline severe carpal tunnel in both wrists and the all the rapid button pressing in stick of truth was absolutely brutal on me
Does kinda still have it in the form of the toilet minigame, but at least that isn't required. Saved me from busting the thumb sticks on a second controller due to a SP game.
whenever games do that i have to put the controller down and just poke the button one cause i suck at pressing it quickly but also my controller is fucking gross and the button gets stuck in lol
@@hermitpriest9820 There's actually a mini games assist option that you can turn on in settings! saves you from all the button pressing during Fartkour etc too
I can say, I’ve beaten Morgan Freeman MANY TIMES without that fart ability. MBC is absolutely broken, characters with protection-granting-moves like Craig and Wendy are great for it too. Edit: I just want to emphasize that MBC is genuinely so good that it kinda ruins the challenge if you know what to do with him.
Yeah, first time around i needed the plantmancer ultimate to revive my allies... multiple times, but then captain mint berry crunch came around and made things A TAD BIT easier, but that is because i refuse to use "the meta" and use moves that fit the character i am playing as.
If you end up playing again and want to incorporate the DLCs in the story. I would either play Mysterions mission before or after the Police mission evening as he acknowledged that there's bigger things happening in south park at the time where there's actually bigger things occurring. Then Assisting Jimmy would definitely fit well after the police evening mission as there's 2 things for him to go oh damn about, the torn up plan and the dead counselers
Mr. Mackey’s couples counseling was legitimately so good. Like, the advice they use was legitimately good advice that I tend to use in my own relationship to this day.

Seems like they are building up to it, the other kids act even more like assholes towards the new kid in snow days and it is getting a little grating, the thing is that snow days is a stick of truth based adventure while his villain turn around is likely to be reserved for a super hero adventure
I actually like how this game leans more into the supernatural parts of the kids' superhero powers. That only really works because it's a video game and not an episode of the show. Reminds me of the how the villians in the Metal Gear Solid games break the 4th wall and have superpowers despite the games being a serious spy thriller.
To this day I’m still playing it over and over again, the stories always amazing to replay and the gameplay is somehow the most fun system I’ve ever played
Another thing I noticed is that at 8:46 , they think that 100 dollars can jumpstart their entire movie franchise. And this makes sense because when your a kid, 100 bucks really seems like 1 million dollars, and it really just puts you into the mind of these random kids in south park.
I like to think that when Cartman was planning the superhero game, he couldn’t think of a proper villain for them to fight against, so he decided to make himself the villain and mastermind just so they would have someone to fight.
For a third game I'd love for the theme of the game to be ninjas as a reference to "Good Times With Weapons". But more specifically I'd love to see them take influence from Persona, and have the ninja alter-egos be summonable abilities. They could even tie this into another idea I see for the third game a lot, which is Imaginationland. Have it so that the ninja "Personas" become real due to the kids imaginations making them real. This also works since they can follow up on the final scene of Fractured But Whole since Butters is still Professor Chaos in his ninja form
I am from Mexico, and something I like from Fractureed But Whole is the fact that this game is translated by the official South Park spanish translators, unlike Stick Of truth that is only subtittled to spanish
It doesn't feel like a video game, it feels like you're guiding the kids through their imagination of being in superhero movies. That's why it's cinematic and over the top.
My favorite thing about this game was my mother in-law watching me play this until she started laughing and asking to play it. I cried happiness on the inside. This was her first introduction to South Park and loves playing it
Funny story about this game; it said that I'm not realistic. During the "Pick your ethnicity" segment of the game through all the options I saw "Irish" and "Native American" were there so with the two slots I went "Oh cool, I can actually just be me." and PC Principle said to my face "No." I sat there for a good few seconds having a laugh just like "Well fuck, guess me and my dad don't exist then." and changed Native American over to Norwegian(I'm quarter Norwegian, Quarter Cherokee, and half Irish from both parents) and Irish Norwegian worked. Haven't done a second playthrough more recently but just something that always gets a chuckle out of me when I'm reminded of the game
I watched this whole video and didn't even blink. You can make a 40 minute video that entertaining, damn. Great video man, honestly. It's going to be nice getting those Futurama videos up when the Hulu season begins!
All I can say, is that if South Park does do another game, I’d want the theme to be, ironically, video games. The first game was based on fantasy, which was super popular for a time, the second was based on super heroes, which are starting to wane in popularity. But as the Mario movie has shown, video game movies are the next big thing. And to have the potentially final South Park video game, be solely about parodying video games, would be so fitting.
One of my favorite games growing up was the Simpsons Game where they did that very concept on one of their levels… Ironic but South Park has an episode about how The Simpson’s have already done it lol
i dont know why no one has said this but the title "the fractured but whole" is a genius double entendre not only for the new kids butthole but also describes the team of the kids perfectly
something I love most about the game is the battle banter, and how all the characters even dlc have unique lines for not just all the allies but even enemies or specific fights. I also love the subtle storytelling you see just wandering, namely newspaper headlines that foreshadow later plot points and sixth graders on day 2 start talking about friends going missing
I just had a realization with every South Park game they were sort of advancing in genres originally with the Stick of Truth a more Paper Mario Style with the fractured but hole a tactical RPG and now with snow fight or whatever it's called a Action Real Time RPG
I want a Sci-Fi sequel! maybe building on things like the Giant Dragon Boss from the start of FBH and letting you build and pilot your own cardboard robot?
I know I may sound like an old grandpa or some thing, but even though the fractured, but whole is a far more smooth and detailed experience, and it’s not as sluggish in almost every regard to the stick of truth, there is something that just is so good about the stick of truth that will always make me go to it first if I had to choose between the two. Maybe it’s the fact that when it came out, it was one of the best times in my life, and the Internet was like that golden age time period, but I also do agree absolutely with the points that you made in regards to the stick of truth, I think one of the main reasons I like it is because it feels like you’re directly dropped into the show
Coincidentally enough I had experienced practically all of the little annoyances and things that made you not finish the game until this year when I tried this one out after being really hooked on Stick of Truth which led to me eventually dropping it, glad to here you loved it by the end though will definitely be coming back to it at some point considering how much more you clicked with it this time around.
First off, Johnny I'd love to see a Mitch Conner Episode from you. But the rest is just my personal experience from the game. This is probably not only something that turned me into a much bigger South Park Fan, but it's also one of my favorite Games in years. I've played through the game multiple times in multiple ways to see more of the game and experience as much as I can. It helped me learn more about Gender identity than I knew when the game came out and I appreciated so many things in this game more as I've played it again after experiencing more of South Park.
The funniest part about meeting with Mr Mackey is when I chose to identify as a boy born a boy and straight, he asked me if I was sure and seemed to think it was problematic lol
After that ending I could see the New Kid being the embodiment of "Screw you guys I'm going home" so many characters have quoted throughout the show. Being tired of everyone picking on him despite being a very literal world-ending threat *outside their make-believe games*. New Kid is on par with Eldritch beings by being able to cast them away and fuck with time and space on a whim. That being said we've covered Fantasy and super-hero tropes. This leads me to believe there are only 2 other ways the sequel can go if they keep the theme of changing every time. The one that sticks out to me the most is some kind've Sci-fi/cyberpunk setting.
The Way i think about it is the first game is more "normal" ad gets wilder is because new kid slowly gets more into the game and by the second game he fully accepts the game and this is how he imagine its all going down in his imagination
I mean, in Eric's defense, seeing your dad f*** your mom is definitely traumatizing, especially for a kid who's less than 10 years old. Not to mention it recontextualizes the fight against the Underpants Warlock in Stick of Truth.
I haven’t even played Stick of Truth, but I wanted to play Fractured specifically because it lets you play as a trans girl. Unfortunately the boys are still calling me a boy so far. The authentic trans experience. 😭
I actually defeat Morgan Freeman without having the new timefart ability and without that new ultimate you talked about. I died my first time fighting him but on my second, it was a long and dangerous fight but I somehow won with the help of Wonder Tweek, Super Craig and Human Kite
Combat was great in fractured... but it did only take me 1 playthrough to 100% it while SoT took me 3. The class combos were super fun for sure and the tacticle grid was great. If sot had the same, it would be unmatched between the two. Eother way, both games were great and i hope they make more. Mix best things from stick and fractured to make the uber southpark game! Edit: the kids being kids feel from stick of truth was imo the better story/feel. Just like Good times with weapons!
I've replayed this game at least 5 times already on every difficulty! This game is so much fun and in my opinion has way more replay value than the stick of truth! Nothing against TSOT but the class system is nowhere near as advanced as the class system from fractured but whole. And I've played it on the hardest difficulty and basically had barely any issues with it, unlike TFBH where I died a lot on mastermind difficulty! Also the soundtrack is amazing on this game! I've put half of the songs on my video game music playlist they are so good! Especially the dlc songs like the vamp kids theme, or the bring the crunch battle theme! Compared to the stick of truth having a very basic soundtrack.
Personally the one thing I wish this game had was a bit more replay value. Because the game is so long, because you can pretty much choose whatever class you want, whenever you want, you can easily just switch playstyles, and never have to commit to one or the other. In Stick of Truth, you had four classes to choose, and each one changed the game immensely, but now with easy access to all the classes, while user friendly for sure, it kinda removes the desire to go back, the same kinda desire I had for Stick of Truth that made me go through the game 100% four different times just to play each class to the fullest.
The music in this game is definitely some great stuff and the themes for sure stick out to me. Spontaneous Bootay has a dope theme😂😂and that fight is one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time 😂😂😂😂
The new kid should be a character on the show. Just have the kid silent and switch up his look and identity every episode 😂😂😂 imagine another situation where the kids are fighting up against somebody like MBP. Everyone nearly dies, new kid shows up out of nowhere then farts to reverse time. He saves the day then disappears.
So we’ve just never seen the kids use actual powers on South Park wether it was in their heads or not I’ve literally seen jimmy use his super speed on the show
Very much hoping Snow Day isn't the 3rd game they were working on, and just a filler whilst a more (I dunno best term?) complete? one is hammered out. (Edit: Ah.. and there's your vid on it just shown up on my feed. Yup. x.x )

100% agree
I messed up playing Fractured but Whole before Stick of Truth, the gameplay is so dull to me after having more strategy in the second game.
I wont lie, at first i hated the combat system for this one but when i tried it again from the beginning i realized i felt this way cuz i sucked at it. Fractured but whole is definitely a strong sequel and i eagerly await what the next game will be.
If they ever do a third game (not counting Snow Day) it should do Ninjas. Would love to see the Good Times With Weapons designs make a comeback.
they seem to be really proud of butters's design because he uses it both in tfbw as his ult attack and in sot as his most powerful attack
I'd LOVE to see them make a third South Park game, which is pretty likely they'll do.
I'm just wondering what genre they would do for it. My best bet would be Ninja as a reference for the Good Time With Weapon episode.
Oh the third game is actually already announced, there’s just no other information than the fact that it is being made right now
that would be so good
Given that the new kid is gonna be a villain, that might work. Helping Professor Chaos take over South Park and fighting the ninja personas of the other kids could be fun.
Imagine it's a 2d fighting game with move customization. Fights are in the anime style of playing with weapons, but exploration uses normal south Park style.
same LOL
Fun fact if you choose Black American as your race in The game even your parents are arrested
One detail I always wondered was why they changed fantasy Kyle's weapon into a hockey stick when he used a golf club in the first game. (His attack was even hitting the ball at them!)
Ike probably made him change it to be more Canadian XD
@@gwenethp511that actually makes sense
Fun fact, if the new kid is black, he cannot fight Morgan Freeman.
😊
Please don't tell me this😭
I'm black and it wasn't fun knowing too late I had been denied my greatest conquest.
That is a cool idea! The Persona series does this concept really well
@@frankwest5388 Yup, i also want to see how garrison reacts to the new kid, Eating lunch with other kids, and how the 6th graders bully the 4th graders, especially garrison bc tbh i feel like mr garrison is just a more fucked up version of cartman
Timmy does have real powers so does mint berry crunch, new kid and Mysterion.
@@hermitpriest9820 There's actually a mini games assist option that you can turn on in settings! saves you from all the button pressing during Fartkour etc too
They took SoT and injected it with Chemical X. Freaking brilliant masterpiece of a game, and the DLC is awesome too.
MBC is already really good, but when you combine him with the sash from the DLC is when he becomes ridiculous.
I've always done both DLCs around the time of Mephesto's lab, do they scale with progression?
Mr. Mackey’s couples counseling was legitimately so good. Like, the advice they use was legitimately good advice that I tend to use in my own relationship to this day.
I love pretty much everything about FbW except for the ending lol. The two DLCs and most of the story is a ton of fun and I love the characters and how they’re used
I always thought fighting to the top of Clyde's tower in SoT was more climactic of an ending than one fight in a playground
I agree. The ending was so anticlimactic imo
@@emilynelson9174 yeah there might be context to it that I’ve forgotten but as far as I remember you come back from the Time Stint in the past, fight the stupid fuckin hand thing and that’s the end? The street fight was so much more fun lol. Idk if it would’ve worked for the final boss but it was much more enjoyable story and gameplay wise
@@Squifum yeah theres two (?) bosses after a neat scene with the tower. In FBW as far as I remember it’s like you fight cartman, it’s really boring and then the game is done lol
I had anticipated something especially challenging (similar to mutant human kite from another dimension) for the final battle...
I am definitely grateful for the DLC's and those final bosses. I mean, I'm grateful for the whole game, don't get me wrong, but I was still kinda..let down
39:00 it's a shame snow day didn't capitalize on the new kid being the villain
Seems like they are building up to it, the other kids act even more like assholes towards the new kid in snow days and it is getting a little grating, the thing is that snow days is a stick of truth based adventure while his villain turn around is likely to be reserved for a super hero adventure
I actually like how this game leans more into the supernatural parts of the kids' superhero powers. That only really works because it's a video game and not an episode of the show. Reminds me of the how the villians in the Metal Gear Solid games break the 4th wall and have superpowers despite the games being a serious spy thriller.
34:41 Perfect set up to say "Felt Bigger Longer and Uncut"
Id love to see it based in imaginationland
I am from Mexico, and something I like from Fractureed But Whole is the fact that this game is translated by the official South Park spanish translators, unlike Stick Of truth that is only subtittled to spanish
I always saw the crazy scenes as a window into the kids imagination and how they saw things like in the fun with weapons episode
Damn I can't wait for the third game to come out so south park can have a perfect trilogy
It doesn't feel like a video game, it feels like you're guiding the kids through their imagination of being in superhero movies. That's why it's cinematic and over the top.
My favorite thing about this game was my mother in-law watching me play this until she started laughing and asking to play it. I cried happiness on the inside. This was her first introduction to South Park and loves playing it
26:10 they shoulda had the cop say “he named his cat what?”
Funny story about this game; it said that I'm not realistic. During the "Pick your ethnicity" segment of the game through all the options I saw "Irish" and "Native American" were there so with the two slots I went "Oh cool, I can actually just be me." and PC Principle said to my face "No."
I sat there for a good few seconds having a laugh just like "Well fuck, guess me and my dad don't exist then." and changed Native American over to Norwegian(I'm quarter Norwegian, Quarter Cherokee, and half Irish from both parents) and Irish Norwegian worked.
This game is not only a perfect sequel for a South Park-game but to a video-game in general.
Part of me wants them to canonize new kid.
One of my favorite games growing up was the Simpsons Game where they did that very concept on one of their levels…
Ironic but South Park has an episode about how The Simpson’s have already done it lol
Yes, they could parody so many games as well, from Halo to Minecraft to COD to God of War, Zelda, there's just so many possibilites.
They need to include a reference to the World of Warcraft episode if the next game is based on video games
@@tylerwilson3800the entirety of the simpsons game was making fun of video games
i dont know why no one has said this but the title "the fractured but whole" is a genius double entendre not only for the new kids butthole but also describes the team of the kids perfectly
I always imagined it was more like that episode where the kids got ninja weapons
I felt like fractured but whole hasn’t gotten much of the love as the stick of truth I’m glad you reviewed this thanks
something I love most about the game is the battle banter, and how all the characters even dlc have unique lines for not just all the allies but even enemies or specific fights.
Can we time fart back to the first two?
I loved the dlc, that reveal with MBC was hilarious, I did not see it coming at all
Mitch Connor as a concept is so hilarious, and how much Kyle hates Cartman for it. i'd love a video about him
I found it got old really quickly and it was a lame final fight concept but I also get why cartman would go all out on that
A Mitch Connor video would be amazing.
It's awesome how they listened to criticism and improved on it
I want a Sci-Fi sequel!
maybe building on things like the Giant Dragon Boss from the start of FBH and letting you build and pilot your own cardboard robot?
The South Park games are so much fun, I want a third game so bad 🙏
[19:04] This joke killed me 💀
I know I may sound like an old grandpa or some thing, but even though the fractured, but whole is a far more smooth and detailed experience, and it’s not as sluggish in almost every regard to the stick of truth, there is something that just is so good about the stick of truth that will always make me go to it first if I had to choose between the two. Maybe it’s the fact that when it came out, it was one of the best times in my life, and the Internet was like that golden age time period, but I also do agree absolutely with the points that you made in regards to the stick of truth, I think one of the main reasons I like it is because it feels like you’re directly dropped into the show
Fun fact: this channel and the South Park games are what eventually got me into South Park itself
11:33 That's for Butters!
Im embarrassed how long it took me to get the title meaning. It wasnt until they said it directly in the last act.
39:18 Great Frace 😂
Dont... We see her parents in their bedroom during stick of truth. What if Cartman know what we saw and thats why its our backstory? Lol
I was so fucking confused if Mitch was an actual person or just cartman
I just watched your video on the stick of truth a few days ago. I was sad that there was no video on the next game but I guess my calls were answered.
I’m Sad We Got Snow Day Instead Of A Direct Sequel To Butt Whole Where The New Kid Can Choose To Be Good Or Bad And Join Pro Chaos
I'd love to see imagination Land be the setting for the third game. Either way I'm definitely going to buy it.
Fax, ill def buy that if it came out xD
I love these games. I really wish they made a 3rd one.
They’re currently working on one!
I haven’t even played Stick of Truth, but I wanted to play Fractured specifically because it lets you play as a trans girl. Unfortunately the boys are still calling me a boy so far. The authentic trans experience. 😭
well as Wendy will point out later: "why are you not telling the boys; why are you LETTING them not realize you aren't in fact, one of them"
@@mickidoesmedia Probably cause my character can't speak. Poor girl.
I actually defeat Morgan Freeman without having the new timefart ability and without that new ultimate you talked about. I died my first time fighting him but on my second, it was a long and dangerous fight but I somehow won with the help of Wonder Tweek, Super Craig and Human Kite
The way they beat up bums im wondering if its still pretend 💀
Loved the video as always man! Morgan freeman was one of my favorite parts!😊😊❤❤🎉🎉
26:04 it's the fact that it's a monster clearly based off the work of lovecraft of reference to how racist he was that i find funny
butters and his mech-xican is nuts
A 40 min j2c video on one of my favorite games??? That alone gets my like. Thanks for the content dude!
The DLC gives it a bit of replayability as you unlock new classes and new allies which is nice but i wish there was more than just this.
I beat this game in like 3 sittings I was so in love with it on my first run.
Gonna replay it now that I have all the DLC.
would love to see analysis videos for Mitch and the New Kid! I love these reviews and look forward to more, I like how in depth you go.
Some of the boss themes are way too good for their own right, like I genuinely love Sober Towelie’s theme
The music in this game is definitely some great stuff and the themes for sure stick out to me. Spontaneous Bootay has a dope theme😂😂and that fight is one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time 😂😂😂😂
I can’t believe he didn’t mention Jared from subway in the police station
39:05 when u wish the creators went for this potential sequel instead of snow day
The new kid should be a character on the show. Just have the kid silent and switch up his look and identity every episode 😂😂😂 imagine another situation where the kids are fighting up against somebody like MBP. Everyone nearly dies, new kid shows up out of nowhere then farts to reverse time. He saves the day then disappears.
I don't know if it's good to have him as a permanent character, but a cameo at the end of a chapter where he farts and changes time sounds cool
You can easily beat Morgan Freeman if you use Craigs or Wendys taunt skill.
Yup. x.x )
It’s small enough to be filler, it’s like 10 hours long so it’s possible to finish it in one sitting unlike the other two who are way longer
Dude thank you for the joy your videos give me.
