  • Having the ability to set up shelter hand get you out of either the hot Sun or the cold snow and rain Is priority one at any off grid property. This army tent is a cheap and quick way to throw up durable shelter and allow you to stay warm and dry while you develop your retreat property. #essentialmountainhomesteading #homesteading #ruralliving #cabinbuilder #homebuilder #diyhomebuild #howtobuild #cabinliving #mountainliving

    How Would something like this hold in extreme weather or as a permenant tent?

    • @EssentialMountainHomesteading
      @EssentialMountainHomesteading  5 лет назад +6

      NOT WELL, after about 4-6 inches of snow you cold have some real problems with the structural integrity of the tent. But that said you could reinforce the tent and keep it shoveled off.

      So, its the best option for a "permenant" tent imo, i lived in one in the military, yes snow builds up on anything, just push up and the snow slides off.

    Other than having the liners installed incorrectly, this is a great semi-temporary shelter good for a few years before the canvas begins to fail. I use one for a wood shop, and my equipment stays plenty dry.

      Looks like the shelter is like that one friend who's not perfect but always comes through when you need them.

    I wish this talked about yurts also. I thought that is what this video was going to be about. Nice tent and I enjoyed learning about it

    So, where was the "vs Yurt" part in this video? I didn't see or hear a word in comparison to the Army tent. Bummer.

    You would definitely have to have more roof bracing and a fly to cover the whole thing, probably would stop condensation

      Hey, thanks for chiming in! Roof bracing and a fly are definitely on the checklist to tackle that pesky condensation. Appreciate your comment!

      I’ve seen specs on the mgpts wall tents that rates them for 3 inches of snow for 12 hours. Pretty easy to knock the snow off from inside.

      It's more like he's cleaning up and correcting the video posts... Note the title renaming no longer mentions Yurts for this vid, there was originally 4 part tent vs Yurts vids... He's also deleted at least one of the recent construction work site vids... and at least one live vid had a bad upload and was re-uploaded a bit before that...
      So, I think he's still getting a handle on vlogging, the editing part anyway, but should be more consistent once he gets better at it...

    This must be your first experience with a tent ! You never want a tent with a waterproof roof. Tne roof needs to breathe to let moisture out. Then you place a rain fly over the tent. Yes, it means for frame work to hold the fly, but you are going to be hating life in the cold weather with all the moisture inside.

    • @ericpierce4510
      @ericpierce4510 6 лет назад +4

      theoldwizard998 Dude, it's an Army tent. Built bullet proof for extreme weather. Yes I agree with the rain flyby open plastic windows a bit for cross flow venting and no condensation...I have spent months on end in these tents in every weather condition possible, and for tents, these beat all. Think these are bad, spend some time in a GP small or GT medium with no windows...

    It's no surprise that the army tent is so effective.. That's what I expected.. So what hwppened to the yurt.? You lied about the content of your video.. For that, I gave you a thumb down.. I do not like being lied to..
