Welcome to our Wall Tent Tour! We wanted to share all the details of our off grid set up with you now that it’s finished. It took roughly 2 months to build the wall tent + platform (with lots of breaks to snuggle our new baby, of course) and turned out much more like a tiny house than a camping tent. It has a full kitchen, composting toilet, outdoor shower, fridge/freezer, enough solar power to edit these videos and is nestled in the woods in Upstate NY.
It really feels like this is the best adventure we’ve had yet, and it’s just beginning! Lou and I have been dreaming of our own property for so many years and now that we have this incredible base camp to work from it feels like we can start tackling the long list of projects that lie ahead. We can’t wait to get this homestead off the ground and share the whole journey with you.

Wrap metal tin around your post foundation for your wall tent, this will help prevent mice etc. from climbing up into the tent. I did this for our cabin in Alaska works great. Blessings
Great idea!
Wow love your new home... but couldn’t help notice baby has a cast on his leg? Bless His little heart ❤️ much love to you all 😌
I noticed too but may be hip dysplasia- treated early enough it's just a blip and easy enough to resolve ❤️
I can't be the only one wonderful about the bathroom...
Dear human that's reading this, we may not know each other, but I wish you all the best in life!✨
😭 this made me cry (happy tears) I hope all the same for you. 🫶
Shush.
Thank you. I appreciate the sentiment.💕
Thank you, I needed this today
The same to you!
You’re living my calm basic simple dream girl! Enjoy ❤
Loved the tour. You gave me and my wife some great ideas.
We too are looking at the White Duck 16x20 as well.
We are going to frame ours. With 2x6 boards make a deck like yours, and insulate it as well.
We want two wood stoves, one being a romantic large stove with windows.
I loved the placement of the kitchen/galley. Very nice.
Thank you for the tour.
Really wondering about the toilet set up? But this looks like a wonderful set up & I look forward to seeing more of this new journey!
I have the same question. Where is the toilet?
I was thinking the same thing
@@ruthrivera4823 there is composting toilet next to the crib visible in the video
I didn't see a toilet either. I'm sure there is one, but I didn't see it.🤗
Who cares about the toilet just be wherever you want and poop whatever you want. That’s the beauty of not having neighbors and not working 60 hours a week to pay for a superficial life where you’re at work 24 seven to hope that one day when you’re 75 you can finally retire the people in this video or absolute geniuses. They are basically in a vacation paradise, living there full-time for little to no money, almost fully self-sustaining if they had gotten chickens and planted a huge garden, it would be 100% self sustainable for pretty much ever I would recommend buying backups of everything though having back up solar systems wind. Wind turbines as well, for if you get like a month of cloud
I think the summer tent ⛺️ Is fantastic but where will you live for 3-4 months while everything is FROZEN?
"Proper" or not, it's awesome!
LOU IS A BEAST!!!!!!!!!!!! This is DOPE!!!!!
Do bear, wolf and moose live in this area. Your tent is beautiful, Lou did a great job. I just found your channel again. I loved your van adventures in Europe and I'll bet this is even a better series. Thanks for sharing.
The Best Treasure I Saw In The HOLE VID IS YOU !!! A GIFT TO YOUR MAN FROM GOD .
Wow you now have a beautiful place to *ROAM WILD* for your growing family! How wonderful to have a husband build such a lovely, private, and peaceful first land based home to start setting family roots, for your child to grow, and for Freya to play and protect...you're truly blessed!
So impressed with how this came together. Congrats you two! 👏🏼
Aw thank you so much! That means so much especially from you two!! ❤
You guys are all such beautiful blessings 💜
Hey Tyler & Todd! Love your channel!!
I would insulate the floor before winter, Looks amazing. Enjoy your life there and be grateful.
The clothesline blew my mind- how cool!
Great to see the tour of the Wall Tent. You have way more storage space than I thought you would have! It's a beautiful home can wait to see how you will build out the property. So happy you have restarted the videos again!!!! Love you guys
We are really so happy with it ❤Lou just did such a great job. Lots of love!!
@@WildWeRoam Love your tent home. I would suggest that you have your fliter water tested just to make sure. You can contact a well company & they usually have test kits that you send off or maybe online. Also, mosquitoes hate lavender. So plant some and also have dry lavender around your tent home to keep them away. 🌿🌱
Congratulations ! Well done !
I think I would add a rain fly to this tent
Absolutely love it - saved your video for futire reference 🎉
YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHAT A JOY TO WATCH AND REVIEW WHAT YOU'VE ACCOMPLISHED... AND STARTING A NEW FAMILY!
CONGRATS!!!
I grew up on a 100 acre farm in Western NY.... so I know what you're going through and the beauty of being on your own homestead!
SUGGESTION:
* If you haven't gone through a winter yet.... IT'S GOING TO GET REALLY COLD... especially in a "tent", so get a nice wood stove and make or buy a "blower" to go with it... which as you probably know, is way to put pipes "on" or on the sides of the stove and then pump air through those pipes which get hot from the stove... BUT, it's only hot air and NOT any fumes from inside the stove. Only takes a small fan to pump the air through the tent and you can run it with your solar. That way you don't burn as much wood (because radiant heat from the stove is nice but not enough to heat the entire tent) and it will keep your entire family warm the whole winter.... if you have enough wood!! ha! ha! : )
* Also, insulate underneath your floors if you have the money... or maybe use some ingenuity with bales of hay or ????
Anyways.... again, congrats on the new baby.... be safe, be warm, be aware of the bears and mountain lions (which your German Shepherd will help you with) and keep doing those videos!!
Amen

Awesome…..!!!!! You guys are GREAT..!!!
20$ an hour you will make it..blessings to those who have someone in their life who build like this 😌..Good peaceful living
Great job!
Last I watched you I was just pregnant. now here I am, finding my way back to you while my 20 month old runs around and your life has changed just as much as mine has. Crazy how life goes
It is so awesome to see your previous off-the-grid experience lending to this build. Seeing your evolution is delightful!
I have seen more builds than I can count:)
I absolutely adore this:)
Blessings:))
Love your dogs name. I have a Red Siberian Husky and her name is Freyja as well. Great Video. Thanks for sharing.
Wow.. Simply Amazing. 4 thumps up..!
I love your simple life. You guys are so sweet. Take care.
Pretty cool! I've thought about doing something like this in a yurt!
Isolate the floor properly, then a stove in winter will make the tent a warm place in the winter, even with just canvas walls. It is a beautiful tiny home you made, love the bed, it is beautiful. Baby is adorable! Love your new place and can't wait to see what you do with it as a family of 3! :)
Insulating the floor is a great idea!
I still can’t believe how much of this is truly done by hand! The whole thing is just wonderful!
While it's very nice, this was built with a backhoe generator and power tools and store bought lumber and store bought furniture and has modern electric by way back of solar panels and heat by propane tanks.
I’m in upstate NY too, about to put up my wall tent in August!
One of the best off grid setups I’ve ever seen!
That Berkey filler is a real gamer changer! I want one of those now too.
This is incredible! Thanks for sharing! Along with many other commenters here, I’m overwhelmingly curious about the toilet situation… and freezing temperature plans. My sister’s tiny house has frozen water line problems almost yearly, and they are trying to find a plan for this coming winter
My German Shepherd is also born and raised on Hawaii Island, from German working lines as well, recently I had to return to the Pacific Northwest and Sumi loves all the wildlife, the rivers and the cooler temps. Freiya is beautiful and I am so happy for you all. I’d suggest some pvc pipe or wood to secure that front door bottom and all sides of the tent as well. Hope you get some sleep. 🙏💜🙏
Great video guys. So cool I’m actually thinking about doing this.
If you guys ever want another GSD let me know.
I enjoyed this. So lovingly proud are you of your hubby making you all those nice things.
Wow, wow, WOW. You two are amazing! What a beautiful home for your beautiful family x
How beautiful!!!! Thank you for the tour💚💚💚💚💚🌳
Truly beautiful editing, and I love seeing and hearing the joy in you both! I look forward to seeing more of your new family home.❤️
You both are so inspiring, thank you for sharing your dreams and journey! I love the simplicity of a lot of your home. It feels a lot less overwhelming than many other builds i've seen and I just love feeling purely inspired vs overwhelmed. thank you thank you thank you!
It is indeed a special place, for three special people (and a special dog). Great job! Enjoy, you deserve it.
Thanks for the great tour. I really enjoyed watching Lou build it in the last vid, I will be looking forward to seeing you guys use it and live there as a family. Enjoy.
It's absolutely beautiful, enjoy !
This is one of the most approachable tent builds I’ve seen…love the setup. Hope to one day start with something like this and eventually a yurt…inspiring!
Absolutely beautiful how everything came together I can’t wait to see how this new and wonderful journey unfolds. Thank you for sharing. Much love
So happy for you both. Such a lovely place built from love. You are living my dream. Thank you.💛 Can’t wait to see if max will take his first steps on this soil. 💛From Northern California.🦋
Lou did such a great job. Enjoy your lovely home👍💕
Your place is just MAGICAL... Such a sweet lil family nest❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
All I can say is "Wow!" What an amazing place to live and to think that Lou built it makes it even more wonderful! Wishing you much happiness in this newest chapter of your lives!😘
I'm so impressed with Lou's skills...just WOW
I am so happy you have taken more safety precautions. Anchoring the tent is really smart and safe. Really enjoy you videos. God Bless.
It looks so peaceful 🫶🏼 Everything looks really nice & homey ! Congratulations 🎉
Wow! So many amazing ideas in there!! And all the work you have put in!! 💖💖
It’s so interesting how you guys are always thinking of different, creative ways of living. I wish you all the best!
I’ve read mice don’t like cinnamon if I’m remembering correctly. Cinnamon sticks under the place might help and mosquitoes don’t like mint oil. I use that as a natural repellent. Works amazingly.
The furniture design is very appealing and I feel a beginning for custom design furniture somewhere in the near future. You both have creative energy and love the concept as to the summer home.
Wow, that would be so cool! Thank you for the idea :) And for the compliment, so glad you like the design, too! ❤
I just love you two. I may have said that many times before but you live full lives and I love you for that. Lou is sooooo clever ❤️
This set up reminds me so much of the cottage in Spain! Now you have your own little set up in the mountains! It is so wonderful to see how far y’all have come, it has truly been such a wonderful journey to watch and enjoy!
Such a beautiful home, wow! But what I loved the most was seeing how everyone is doing. I imagine this new chapters brings new challenges, but you all seem really happy and starting to feel at home. Have a good weekend :)
You two are incredibly inspiring! The detail you put into sharing your journey with the world is going to help so many achieve similar goals. You have changed my life and I know you’ve changed others, always love watching xoxo
Ok, I LOVE EVERYTHING about this!!! It's so doable!!!
So amazing!! As always thanks for sharing! Living vicariously through you both.
We are so happy and humbled to have you joining us, Joey Sturm ❤ Thanks for the encouragement!
I'm so happy and excited for you all at once. I have been following you since Spain and just love all your content.
Wow!! That is so cool to hear ❤ Thank you for coming along with us on our journeys all this time! Hope you are having a wonderful Sunday and that any creative projects or hobbies you may be doing are going welll :)
Yall are so beautiful in who you are and everyway that you pave your own way reminds others endlessly of a life path that is endlessly possible

So beautiful. I’m glad you are settled in and getting to enjoy some luxuries. I’m so impressed with both the layout and the style. 💗
Thank you! :)
Great tour and impressive build! Love seeing the thoughtful systems built into your new home. Glad you guys are doing well and congratulations on the new baby.
Thank you very much, Jema! It feels really special bringing together knowledge from the van life and boat life to integrate into this project :) Hope you are doing well and wishing all the best with any creative projects you may have going on!
Well, just tell me when I’m allowed over because a road trip from Nova Scotia wouldn’t be too far!!! 🥲
WHAT AN AMAZING HOME, you all have done such beautiful work ♥️
Big and beautiful tent👍💪
It’s amazing! Congrats on your new home! This will be an inspiration to many 🙌
That is so nice of you to say :) Thank you!
Great job everyone appreciate y'all sharing ur adventure 😊 best wishes
Stunning interior guys!!! Beautiful layout and all that glorious wood… it’ll be interesting to see how each season works for you in a tent. Lo awesome job buddy!!!
Yay! Always great news to see a video up from you guys. I've been wondering how you were doing. Looking forward to watching your video. Been hoping you're ok bear-wise. Wishing you so many happy experiences and memories at this special time in your lives x
Thanks so much, JC! Yes, all good so far in the bear department... luckily New York is mostly just home to black bears, who still deserve respect but aren't quite the same scary threat that grizzlies or brown bears are :) Thank you for the well wishes and we hope you are having a gorgeous Sunday ❤
Love that laundry 🧺 string !
Very nice. Our jet pump well was installed in 1968. Over 50 years old and still going. We have to replace the pressure switch every couple of years.
Congratulations on the new baby! Love the wall tent! Blessings and much Aloha 🙏🌎☮️💜☮️🌎💜🌲🌲🌲
this turned out awesome. way to go Lou! congrats y'all 🥰
Thank you. So many handy features.
Brilliant and beautiful! Thanks for your great videos!
Gorgeous! Inspiring, this is something I’ve always wanted to do.
This is so wonderful. That little one is going to grow up learning a lot of valuable skills and not be as materialistic as most people are these days because of you two. I love this set up and want to do something like this myself if I ever get some of my own land. I have a lot of animals too (two cats, one dog, a leopard gecko, two tarantulas, and a beetle colony) and the land would be SO GOOD for my cats and dog.
It is special, too cute and looks truly enjoyable....loved the video
The EBooks are so beautiful that i want physical copies of them !!!!! would have pride of place on my bookshelf!
continuously impressed by everything you do!!
Absolutely amazing job Lou!!! You are the luckiest girl in the world to have such a partner!❤️
Such a beautiful property you have. The tent is really nice. I can’t wait to see what you are going to do with the property. I will be sure to watch them all. I greetings from The Netherlands.
Simple yet so beautiful and homey love it enjoy.❤

I love the ending of your video. I wish you guys luck.
