The steaming process looks quite labor intensive. Would it make any difference if you used a bowl for the glutinous rice instead of a porous parchment paper. The rice will still be steamed but you can just pour all the coconut milk in without fearing that it would leak to the water below. The rice would be more compact but can be fluffed up easily later.
You can do that too. The steam would not be able to penetrate from the bottom of the bowl and might take longer to cook. It would probably need to be stirred frequently as the coconut milk would be at the bottom of the bowl. Let me know how it goes. ❤️ Anyway the rice easily absorbs the coconut milk.
