These videos with Marty Kelly are superb! I remember how valuable I found them when I had my shoulder surgery a couple of years ago. I'm now fully recovered, have zero shoulder pain, and more mobility than I ever had in my life. :-)

No wonder I was having so much trouble, my OT had me doing single arm straight arm extensions 4 days after surgery plus some of these others that you have for after 6 weeks. This was in a rehab facility. I was there 5 weeks. PT did nothing with the arm/shoulder. Their way of doing therapy was PT from the waist down; OT from the waist up.

I’m 3 months in and I have 10 pins in my shoulder. Now I feel my shoulder moving back n forth easily with some clicks as well. My surgeon said it’s because my muscles are weak... any info?

Should we train from arm elevation before lateral elevation? I haven't seen in this series a lot of lateral arm elevation exercises and I am having trouble with it. I am in my 11th week of recovery.
Nice videos by the way. Way better than my current physiotherapist!

I’m 70, recent broken shoulder. It’s been nearly three months and while improving, I was on pain meds for the first 5-6 weeks or so. It can still be sore after any of my exercises and I can’t sleep on the side of my injured shoulder. My physical therapist said it could be up to a year before it’s fully functional.

Is the exercise applicable while the metal is still in the shoulder? Or is it after the metal has already been removed?

      Hi Bella,
While we only break things up into 2 phases in this video series (first 6 weeks post-surgery, and from 6-weeks through full recovery), there are a few other videos that demonstrate some resistive and advanced strengthening exercises designed for later in your recovery. Take a look at them in our orthopaedics playlist here: ruclips.net/video/lV2RRMR8F2o/видео.html

    Hi Doctor,
I am at two months post-op for rotator cuff surgery. I’m attending PT two times a week (the first month was once a week due to insurance/provider conflicts).
My concern is ROM (range of motion) for that arm is highly limited for allowing the forearm to lay flat while lying on my back.
    What do you recommend ?

To keep the shoulder or any part of the body stuck in a sling or cast for 6 weeks is nuts. I kept my shoulder immobilised for 46 days and when I took it off 2 and half weeks ago I developed a frozen shoulder which I'm now dealing with and it's fu**ing crap man. First I dislocated it bad then I had to wait for surgery and now I'm dealing with this crap bc I was told to stay in a sling that long.

You comment scares me as I've been instructed the same. So I'm doing some motion in all direction as fast as it doesn't cause discomfort from the 3rd wk

Craig Daly , I am week 10.5 and i have pain in my scapula (back of shoulder). Especially when doing certain exercises. Hoping this will resolve soon. I just read online that nsaids like ibuprofen slow healing and I have been using those daily at bedtime, so I am thinking maybe I have slowed the process down a bit.

Is it normal to have some painless clicking during this phase of PT?
    And what about stick abduction?

  • @loridonahoo4616
    @loridonahoo4616 28 дней назад

It would better if you were usually a real patient. There is no way in the world I’ve been able to do many of these exercises and this is week six I’m in still so much surgical pain.
