This is one of my favorite songs to see live. It has such a fun energy. They haven't played it in a few years now unfortunately, but I hope they bring it back for the next tour. They have a song that reminds me of Pet Cheetah from their next album called Never Take It. They're not super similar; I'm not actually sure why it reminds me of it, but I just feel like they work together. I recommend giving it a listen!

This song speaks to me as a poet, bc I have always felt that one of the best ways to prevent/overcome writer’s block is to just… take an idea maybe doesn’t seem to have much promise (a beat you should delete, if you will) and write a silly little no-pressure something every now and then. It doesn’t matter if it comes out any good; but the fun thing is that sometimes, you get a dumb little freeverse about how all of your sisters keep stealing your socks, and sometimes, you get *this*

Saw these guys from the pit at MSG in NYC for the Bandito tour. They had a hanging walkway that would lower from the ceiling and Tyler would go back and forth between 2 stages walking over the pit on it. This song was an absolute banger and the bass was insane!

okay so. this is about writer's block, but it has another element to it. if you remember neon gravestones -- which tyler calls the heart of the record -- a key phrase is "keep your wits about you while you got em cause your wits are first to go while you're problem-solving, and they glorify em even more when they (lost em.)" in different songs we the protagonist doing these different seemingly glorious things: jumping right in to pull his pin to defend his brother (ergo, he dies) getting beat to smithereens by someone rolling up on his wife (smithereens means little pieces, ergo, he dies) sipping on straight chlorine (ergo, he dies -- and comes back, but still)...in the music video for jumpsuit he dies at the end, in the music video for the hype he dies at the end--sensing a theme? now these are different types of deaths. in the hype and chlorine these are metaphorical deaths followed by a rebirth, but in those other songs those were just not-thought-out choices. like in jumpsuit he deadass tries to *run from a horse on foot*. he was never gonna win. you could say there are places where he keeps his wits about him on the record and places he doesn't. so in pet cheetah, he'll sit there til he finds the problem. (a line which becomes more beautiful sonically the longer you listen to the song.) he keeps his wits about him. he's writing about writers block while also demonstrating the point of the record. the visuals were done by the immensely talented chris schoenman, whose work you can see at schoenman dot squarespace dot com. he's been doing stuff for the pilots since 2015 and much of it is beautiful and grungy. as far as the shows go: take this seriously. you want to get there at about 4 am day of show to be in the front half or maybe even front quarter of the pit, and that's the place to be. getting a number on your wristband and being respectful and not pushing to the front if you didn't wait in line all day is a big part of the culture and security enforces it. people line up ~a week ahead of time. you can of course take breaks and stuff and leave and come back in line. but if you wanna really be in it, take that to heart. (or don't. two tall guys can have fun in the back half of the pit or in seats or wherever. this is my perspective from following the band on tour twice.) thanks for all the tøp content!
