I had surgery a few years ago and the hospitals in my county have their own radio station. I was picked to request a song and had to explain why.
I told them to play Fairly Local so that we could show Tøp that the song was good enough for the radio, and they played it!
I knew you would love Fairly Local! It’s one of my favorites. It hits so hard!
This is the battle against the duality inside Tyler. The verses are opposites. First is the darkness and the second is the more hopeful - but that’s when everything is red, so Blurryface is trying to take over, which he does immediately after with the pitched down vocal and red eyes.
The clique is “the few the proud the emotional.”

the lore behind these guys' music and MVs is HEAVY. every detail, including their hairstyles, has meaning and significance. that's one of the big reasons i got so into this band, they put effort into every little detail and its so fun trying to understand.
When Tyler's eyes turn red and his voice is deep, that means Blurryface is controlling him in that moment. Blurryface is a representation of his insecurities and mental struggles (including depression). Throughout their discography, there's this constant struggle against Blurryface. And we see Josh (the drummer) trying to help Tyler escape from Blurryface. And man, it goes WAY deeper than that when you look at Trench and SAI. I could write pages and pages about their lore, and I've heard that Tyler actually has a whole book filled with the lore they created. The fandom has joked about it calling it "the Trench Bible".

The blurryface album was all about a character( the duality within tyler) Trench took that concept and dove deeper..trench is a whole world and blurryface got explored in a new way.

I can still remember the first time I heard this song. The dichotomy of the 2 verses seems so simple at the surface with just switching perspectives, but there's so much more meaning to it. It's so easy to listen to and vibe out but still carries such a powerful message.
SO HAPPY!!! I wonder if they picked up on the two verses being opposite each other?? I know it's hard to catch everything on first listen. I don't think I did. I think I thought it was the same verse repeated until I really sat and listened, it looked up the lyrics. I don't remember but I'm so happy they did another TOP. I've been feeling a little neglected. Yay!!!

One of the songs that made me love them! They used a snippet of this song on the 2 Blurryface shows that I went to. When they played the full song on the Trench Tour, everyone lost their minds. It was beautiful! ❤️

I’d love to see you go through more of their live performances! You can check their MTV unplugged performance, where they re-invented their songs live with a loop system, and also Josh sang with Tyler for the first time - trust me it sounded soo good, you have to see it!

Tuuuuune!! Love this track! My daughter's band is actually called Fairly Local in honour of this song! Don't know how I missed this reaction 5 days ago as I see all your notifications. Been waiting on you guys getting to this track!
A lot of bands, have 3 or 4 really good tracks per album. With TOP, every single track is absolute FIRE 🔥 . Literally, no filler all killer. I think it would kill them to include anything not totally on point. Tracks like The Judge, Fall Away etc are ridiculous they're so good.
The Vessel album (1 before Blurryface) is in the Guiness Book of Records for being the 1st (& I think still the only) album to have EVERY SINGLE TRACK achieve at least GOLD RECORD STATUS! Mind blowing. Achieved entirely by The Clique but only possible because of the quality of every single track.
A lot of fans came to TOP the year before the hiatus when Ride, Stressed Out & Heathens from Suicide Squad propelled them to international fame. However, those 3 tracks gave some new fans the idea that TOP were this middle of the road, radio pop band when nothing could be further from the truth. Vessel is a work of art and you should stick it on Spotify with good headphones and listen end to end. Most everything you guys have listened to, at least publicly, comes from the Blurryface & Trench albums. Both amazing albums, but Vessel will always have a special place in my heart as the album that brough TOP to me.
1 other thing, if you have a spare 90 minutes sometime, sit down with a beer, get comfy and watch the Live Experience. We had tickets to see them again the summer of 2020 then Covid screwed the world over. A lot of bands put out virtual shows during the lockdowns. TOP showed the world how it was done. Timed to go out when Scaled & Icy dropped, the Live Experience was utterly MIND-BLOWING!! We stayed up to watch it live on US time (I'm in Ireland) as we didn't want to risk any spoilers. They put the same energy & perfectionism into the live stream as they put into every live show. The music press' reaction to it was fairly uniform and glowing. At the time NME said TOP had just schooled the music world on how it should be done lol. It gave us a wider view into Dema and the bishops etc but even if you knew nothing about all that, had never heard of TOP, it was just an hour & a half of brilliant music. A total vibe.
Both Tyler and Josh (who's name you 2 really should remember by this stage 😂).are just so talented. If Tyler only sang, rapped & played all those instruments it would be a feat and a half but when you consider the fact that he also writes, arranges & produces these amazing songs, it puts him onto a whole other level. Genius is a word banded about so readily these days that it's lost most of its significance. Tyler is, though, quite simply, a once in a generation musical genius.

Also, you might want to talk to Mark Eshleman, otherwise known as Reel Bear Media, he is the one who did a lot of their videos, not all, but he’s their head tour photographer & videographer. Eric would love the whole BlurryFace album! It’s totally a play any song on repeat in the car type of album. It has this vibe throughout every song on it.
I think this was the first MV off of Blurryface the different clothing, etc. was them working through some ideas, I believe. Stressed out was next, used some, lost some, but really solidified the "look" for that album cycle.
