Honestly, my knee-jerk reaction would have been to reject this as something less relevant to VR simmers, but your video has changed my mind a bit. The price is not unreasonable, and although the size is a factor for me and my setup, I think I could make it work. Awesome review as always!
Yeah I think there’s definitely a value for us who love VR. The size is something to consider but man the price should ape folks to get the whole glare shield when is finally available without breaking the bank.
Pre-ordered 11/04/24, expecting delivery today (UK) .. great review, was looking forward to setting it up but not disturbing all my other USB's as I also have quite a complex rig ... updated firmware (to 1.16) on a redundant computer before connecting FCU to main sim via powered USB hub ... all good :)
@@theVRpilot Hi, thanks for asking, overall great, very happy ... only a couple of minor issues, default LED brightness (too bright) but like how they have tied adjustment to the sources in the cockpit ... a nice touch, but it would be even better if the initial brightness could be set in the app maybe? The other issue did not come as any surprise either and relates to the push/pull knobs. Yes, they mimic the actions of those in the cockpit in that when you push or pull, the corresponding knob in the cockpit moves but, and you may have noticed, that as you release the physical knob, the one in the cockpit remains in either the pushed or pulled position. Now, just to be clear, everything works correctly, this is just an animation issue which occurs because for each knob, the corresponding 'release' variable is not currently available. I have experience with various pieces of software which interact with many different types of variables and have already contacted Microsoft, requesting these particular variables be exposed. It's been a few months and I have not heard anything but in the meantime I have been hoping WinWing might be in a better position to influence a favourable decision. Moving on, users will quickly discover the unit definitely needs to be fixed firmly to desk surface or similar prior to use (double-sided stickers supplied are fantastic) otherwise the unit will slide all over the place especially when pushing/pulling the knobs. But, yes, a great addition to any home cockpit ... did you watch WinWing's presentation at FlightSimExpo (2024) ... full set of glare-shield panels available soon for Airbus and matching set for Boeing by 2025 and, best of all everything at amazingly affordable, low prices .... wow, can't wait!
Great video! I am seriously considering getting this to replace my CP Flight FCU as I use only MSFS with a DIY home cockpit, but CP Flight still haven’t got theirs working properly with the Fenix. I am a real A320 F/O and I think with the full glareshield setup, this WinWing unit it will be epic! - if nothing else; because it works with the Fenix out of the box. Their up coming pedestal panels look great too
Watching this after the FSExpo announcement. The Winwing product line is looking really strong now, with a full Airbus setup and now Boeing too. Looks like it'll be a very nice and complete system of products, at a very affordable price. I get that the miniFCU is more accurate in some ways, but at double the price of this, it's not looking such great value as it did a few months ago. I'm quite glad I held off actually.
My one landed three days ago and it is truly fantastic. However nobody in You Tube land mentioned the software from WinWing might not get into my PC. I was stuck trying everything and I am no software expert. Just in case you have this problem it’s Windows virus not allowing it in I had to right click the prog / preferences to allow it to be unzipped
Thanks Man! Yeah flight simulator pro by next level racing which has the seat and front frame. Check it out here! Also it’s a 55inch screen. 65inch would work great too. ruclips.net/video/9uyAGpQrCbg/видео.htmlsi=p_HGoRT9JCGdTv3R
@@PowerAirSimulations yeah man! Solid rig.Lmk I was thinking of doing an office or rig tour before the new year. Is that something you’d be interested in?
Definitely up for the Boeing setup, but I might try the model you just reviewed for the rare times I fly Airbus. From UK here. I wonder if it will eventually be supported by Spad Next as I have my instruments on a secondary PC..
Definitely not my cup of tea but the build quality looks good to me. It sounds similar to virpil in set up... Virpil also recommends you unplug all virpil hardware when adding a new one... not ALL USB connections, just the virpil stuff. Do they plan on daisy chaining the panels as they make it so you do not need like 6 USB slots to get a full dashboard?
I got mine three days ago..Its brilliant...My only suggestion is it would be nice is WinWing did not have an add on case for it to fit a Alpha, Bravo or Logitech unit.
Good review. Went to purchase last night and appears out of stock as I got the pre-order email stating they would email again for payment when it was available. Seems it is taking a couple of months to get these so I'm guessing September maybe.
I'm a GA pilot only. Do have all commercial airliners jets like the Fenix Simulations A320 but it's just too boring for me personally in comparince of the Dukes of JF so for me personnaly but for all those real A320 fans and real pilots (I do ln know some) they would love it I'm sure. Great review. Yes having only the A320 panel connected is more safe in updating firmware but try to ignore it and wing it? That's Sparky's way lol.
You can most definitely map it to other aircraft, might take a few steps to ensure you have the right binding/control but yeah I tried that already and it works fine.
Oh yeah, I love it. I have found that it must be started each time in the correct order, but once it is started I have had zero issues. I'm really looking forward to the EFIS to come out. You can't beat the price.
Great catch! I think this was due to me opening the SimApp pro software and and hitting ALL LIGHTS ON, as I was recording some Broll and taking some photos. Other than that you can expect it to match what your cockpit shows unless you override and force all lights on and or off and or change the brightness to whatever you want in real time. Also the EXP button I forgot to mention, you will be able to customize it later with a few options which will be nice as it’s currently blank.
These must be popular as sadly they are already £144 on their UK website, which works out at around $189. Still reasonable but not the bargain it was 😢
