I have always been a winter tire guy. Started with studded tires on my 83 Subaru. But gave up studs a long time ago when I realized my 08 Legacy GT with General Altimax could do runs to Mount Hood for snowboarding without any drama. Easily taking the roads at 60 mph around the corners. Seriously good tires. I run the same tires on our new car as well.
*This* is how you do a sponsored video. Totally transparent, and the content itself is applicable outside of what said sponsor is actually promoting. Well done gents!
That answers the reason for their huge fan following! Pretty straight to the point. And, yeah I vouch for that stopping distance based on my tests on Continental Winter Tires on my Macan
I own a 2014 STI and I still use winter tires. When growing up my parents never bought winter tires for any of the cars they owned. In my grade nine auto class when I learned the advantages is when I knew i was always going to buy winters no matter if the car had AWD.
When I was younger in northwestern New York State, the regular tires were terrible even for rain, and everyone bought 2 winter tires when all vehicles were rear wheel drive or 4 wheel drive in the 1970s. I went to a junkyard and got 4 winter tires with some tread left. In Kentucky now, we only need winter tires maybe 4 days a year- I just avoid driving on those days. Winter tires cost more and wear out faster, but could save your life on snow. Another option is chains for temporary use- you can buy plastic chains that are cheaper and easier to install, that are for one time use and you just cut them off and throw away.
My 2015 Jetta came equipped with Continental Pro Contact TX of which I still have 2 of the original tires on the car.. they run straight and true and give excellent fuel economy
Hey Continental, the next tires I buy will be Continental. Thanks for sponsoring my favorite car reviewers. Did you know that one of these guys have driven on the Nurburgring... twice? I’ll give you a hint. His name isn’t Geese, Savage.
Good job guys! In EU most cars use winter tyres during winter, it's a huge difference to all season tyres or even summer tyres. Been using Continental for last 7-8 years on my car and they are exceptional!!! TS860 is amazing!
Man I got 225/45 R17 TS860's on my Octavia(Bridgestone Turanza for Summer) and they're rocking maaaan. Also my dad has 225/50's TS845 on his Infiniti Q50. Also great tire
Got the TS860 on my car for the second winter now, just perfect. Summer tires are Conti EcoContact 5 and I can recommend those as well. There is no point in saving 10-20€ per tire for a cheaper brand...
Ivan Sensei places where it gets cold and snowy. Portugal and the majority of Spain do not need that, and I’m pretty sure the same goes for other Southern European countries.
I live on Vancouver Island. The average winter High is 7 C with an average low of 1 C and I have heard people say they regret buying winter tires here because they'll go 4 years without seeing significant snowfall. Most people drive with all seasons because of this. Then one day, for maybe a week we get 8-12 inches of snow, and everyone loses their minds. Personally, my wife drives all season year round and I have dedicated summers (no snowflake or M+S rating) and dedicated winters. 3 years on my winters and they finally touched snow this year.
@@hsvcommodore4111 Winter tires still give substantially better grip in cold conditions even if you're driving on dry pavement. They're made from a much softer rubber and adhere to the surface better.
I'm actually surprised at how well the all-seasons performed, in many other tests, the difference is even larger lo. I think Continental wanted to also flex their all-season capabilities :p
I agree but one thing that can't be shown on video is the lack of confidense and feel of all seasons on ice n snow. In real world winter driving all seasons are sketchy as ..... ;) You would never drive that aggressive with cars around you with all seasons..... well almost never haha.
Never used winter tyres. Not because im neglectful. Just because i live in australia and winter goes as as low as 10 degrees Celsius. I havent even seen snow in my life
@@fizzlefist Canadian here. I drove down to South Carolina in February with a buddy a few years ago. While we were there it snowed for the first time in decades. The woman at the front desk of the hotel suggested that we stay off the roads. We told her that we've driven in worse winter weather our entire lives, plus we had snow tires on our car. She told us that she wasn't worried about our driving - but that we'd probably get hit by someone from there who couldn't drive in the snow. We had a good laugh (and drove extra careful after!)
I live in Germany and i dont need winter tires. In my area we dont see much snow but now we are forced by the law to use winter tires unter winter conditions only. For you no worries about winter tires. Absolutely no need.
Do you like driving safe? Do you like when your car stops while you hit the brakes? Do you enjoy plowing through pedestrians? Don’t cheap out on tires. Winter tires are a must
Amen. That is why every season I put on snow tires and have a set of wheels for them so I don't have to buy new winter tires every year, that is how I save money, not by just not buying them period.
Except winter tires are worse in all these categories than all seasons when in dry pavement. Most of my winter driving is on dry pavement. Why would I want to be safer a handful of times a winter, but less safe most of the time in winter?
Great video as always. Winter tires make a huge difference when driving in winter. When I moved from Hawaii to Washington state, I shipped my car from Hawaii (equipped with summer tires). When winter came, I didn't have a set of winter tires. That is because I never lived in an area that snows. Therefore, I found myself under-steering and sliding all over the place when I drove around the city. It was a scary experience. I felt like I didn't have control of the car. When I finally got a set of winter tires, the difference was night and day. I was able to control the vehicle like I should just like the vehicle in the video equipped with winter tires. Thank you Straight Pipes for making to this video in an effort to spread awareness to drivers.
I learned my lesson years ago on all season tires, couldn't stop going down a hill and nailed the truck in front of me. Just some bumper repair, dent in my wallet and ego dinged too. From then, winter tires always!
2010 Subaru Impreza owner here in NW Montana. The factory all seasons were pretty good in the winter here (they do a decent job of plowing around town). Subsequent all season tires I bought were ass though. This year I got some Michelin X-ICE3 tires and it's insane how much better they feel. Driving in heavy snow when it's down is flat out fun. I even showed a friend who was all about all-seasons the start and stop with these tires and he was sold. Nice video.
Great video, guys! Dad always had me put on winter tires on my first 2 cars (70 Maverick, and 71 Rustang, in South Dakota). Had All-Seasons on my first Saab, but they sucked. Since then, I've been able to afford a winter vehicle (old Tacoma) that always had true snow tires on it, and kept the summer stickies on my subsequent Saabs, and now my 2018 Audi convertible (my very first NEW car, at age 58!), She stays in the garage for 4 months. Oh, and you two helped me decide on the Audi after 33 years of Saaboholic bliss.
Great work with the video and congrats on the sponsorship! So happy to see more education around the use of Winter tires, too many Canadians try to drive without them in the Winter and it creates hazards and slowdowns for everyone else on the road and first responders.
I have the previous gen Conti Wintercontact SI on my VW, they are some very good tires. During the snowpocalypse here in Seattle I drove all throughout my area without an issues.
On Michelin Pilot A/S 3 for 3 seasons, Continental ExtremeWinterContact from Nov to Mar currently. Been on this sort of rotation since 2004 on a 225hp RWD coupé, even though I'm only in Greater Vancouver region. Never gotten stuck once, not even in mountainous Burnaby. Great channel, guys. Love the humour. Love the CG effects.
Well here in Qc, there's a law that if your car is not equipped with winter tires/all weather tires between December 1st and March 15...u can get a ticket...i hate when people says that they dont need winter tires because they have an allWheelDrive vehicle 🤦🏽♂️
I got winters after almost getting stuck in my '03 Corolla 5spd. Since then, I now have a Fiesta ST that NEEDS winters. Best choice I've made for tires!
100% a proponent of winter tires. I've had them on every car I've owned for the last 20 years. My 5-season-old Continental Extreme Winter Contacts are finally worn out, so I need some new ones for next season.
running the Conti wintercontact SI on my Forester here in Oregon, it doesn't even snow all that much but just the temperature advantages makes it worth the purchase.
I’ve run winter tires on my SUV and on my vehicles for twenty years. The only thing I’d add is to spend the money and get a quality set of winter tires. We went with a cheap set and within two years we ended up getting another set because the grip had deteriorated so much. I have the Michelin X Ice winters on my vehicles 5-6 months a year here on the Canadian prairies. There’s no way I would drive without them. Thanks for continuing to educate your viewers. I would love to see more reviews with winter conditions to see how various vehicles handle real world Canadian winter conditions. Keep up the good work.
Winter tires for sure are required especially in canada between November to march. No matter the car awd/4wd/fwd/rwd. They will give you the extra traction and safety you need and they will last for years meaning your other set of tires will last longer
I was searching for videos on these tires and your video did not come up. Luckily I ended up buying these tires yester for a Macan S and am so happy I did after seeing your video. Thank you.
We're always prompting Winter Tires and the safety of Winter Tires in all our schools and Commercial Programs we teach in Ontario - Continental might be my next winter tire choice / Already use them for summer use..
I live in Alaska on a VERY steep hill and my wife's vehicle which was AWD got totaled last October. We bought a used minivan for now and intend to replace it with a new vehicle in a couple years, but doing so meant front wheel drive only. The van came with new all season tires and once the snow started flying we were unable to even get out of our driveway (it is also VERY steep). We took our old winter tires from her SUV that are on their last season with little tread and have yet to get stuck. We've come close! Winter tires (even a worn out old set) make a massive difference. These are also stud-less and imagine having a set of new treads with studs would make an even bigger difference. Edit: The tires are Continental as well.
Great video! I can say that going from sporty all seasons to Pirelli winter tires on my E450 sedan made a huge difference. It literary WOULD NOT slide if you tried. We took it down cliche corner (the one and only) and did some donuts in a lot and the tires only broke loose once it got put in sport plus! Winter tires are amazing, I defenitely recommend them if you live in a snowy/icy climate. I didn't realize general was owned by Continental! I thought they were one of those discount crappy brands
I've never bought winter tires. I bought some really nice All Seasons before this winter. They were rated highly for rain/snow driving, which was good for me here in New England. After watching this though, I think next year I will go ahead and spring for some Winter tires
Insurance companies need to incentivize people putting on winter tires if there's a studied significant reduction in harm by using winter tires - like properly scientifically studied
Another great video guys keep it up! I have a 2014 Scion FR-S and having winter tires is hilarious when I can still get around in snow while Crossover/SUV/AWD people complain they get stuck. Love the overlays of the cars to show the performance differences. Especially the braking one where the “All Season” text was so subtly pushed off screen. It’s those details that keep me coming back for more.
never cared to put winters on my cars in the past. wife has been using them on hers for years... and with AWD and winters, the traction is night and day difference between awd + winters, versus fwd + all-season. in short, will be getting winters next year.
Congratulations on the sponsorship! Thanks for the informative change of pace video. So, winter tires are better than all season tires in the snow. Who could’ve guessed that? :-)
Always been a winter tire person ever since 2000. Wanted to see what the hype was about since I've been driving since 1989 and been told all-seasons are fine. Once I had Nokian Hakkapelittas on my Civic I was sold. So much more confidence when driving. Then installed winter tires on my wife's Odyssey and she was sold too. No more scared to drive to her job at the hospital, and usually she would be the only one who would typical show up on time. Actually one time coming home from work I headed up a well traveled road that has a slight hill. You could see the whole hill was packed slush, snow and ice. As the light turned green the 3 SUVs and one Jeep in front of me couldn't make it up the hill. The Jeep was actually sliding back into my Civic and before he slid back into me, I went into the center lane and easily went up the hill around all the AWD and 4WD vehicles. To all those who say all-seasons are fine, have never driven on a good set of winter tires in the snow.
I love my Nokian Hakkapeliitta 9 studded tires. The studs are rated for up to 190km/h. Unfortunately they also need to be removed at 5-10°C as you’ll rip through them on ‘warm’ days.
How did I miss this old video? Damnnnnn. I had SO MUCH FUN in those rallye car STIs. People that are still using all-season tires in the winter probably don't care about their passengers that much. Tires are what keep you on the road. Always get the best of the best... and Continentals while you're at it!
i have my summer and winter tires mounted on separated wheels for all my cars. unfortunately i tent to have to use the winter set most of the year in my area :( many times stopping is more important then going . i use what ever snow tires i can afford , they are still much better then all seasons
A car is only as good as the grip of the road, do you want to get over taken by a Tercel on winter tires? Get your car the proper shoes (tires) and be responsible for others on the road or inside buildings.
I use Bridgestone Blizzaks on my Elantra and my parents used them on their Sienna before they sold it. No idea what’s on our Model 3 now, but the Blizzaks have served us really well in Vermont snow.
This is great. So happy to see Continental on board. I bought Continental Extreme Contact Sports for my WRX and loved them. Fantastic grip and noise levels for the price.
I used continental max contact 5 And apart from wearing out a little more aggressively I can’t see any fault with them. Continentals are good tires. Now they got good deal by sponsoring the straight pipes channel. Hope more tyre related stuff on channel. Like summer and ultra high performance tyres. Because my country doesn’t need winter tires. 😁
For the last 5 years I've rolled with a set of all season Continental ExtremeContact DWS on my 15 STI in Denver. I've been happy with them year round. I bought the car after moving to Denver 5 years ago and was debating winter tires so that I could swap them out with the OEM Dunlop Sport Maxx RT summer tires. Ultimately, I'm glad that I went all season, because I ended up not having time to do seasonal tire swaps, consequently not making the best use of my STI, and the new summer tires have ended up just sitting in my garage. But also the majority of my winters here (so far) have been being relatively dry and warm. Plenty of days over 50 degrees fahrenheit. This winter has probably been the coldest yet in my 5 years here, but in my overall experience in Denver, I'm still not sure winter tires would really make sense here. That said, I've of course driven in a handful of snowstorms here and if I had left the summer tires on I think that I would have slid into someone or something by now.
Will do!! This is so cool. When I started,Continental barely had any advertising. Now they're dipping their feet into the Media Marketing pool lol. You know,I do get Employee discounts on any Conti or General Tire...
We’ve been rolling on Continental Conti Pro Contacts on our 2012 Impreza (Sport hatch) for the past several seasons. They have performed very well in winter driving in Wisconsin esp vs the oem Potenzas. Unfortunately, I can’t drive sideways through roundabouts any more 🙁 I am sure to stick with Contis when these wear out. Thanks for the great content as always gents. I never miss a video. I even got my wife to honor your intro when we last “went for a drive.” It took 3 takes for us to coordinate the shutting the doors at the same time.
How can you win tires for those who do not live in Canada but still in the damn cold country?😭😭 I live in St. Petersburg Russia and we have a plant Continental.
In 1995 I drove a Trans Am automatic with all seasons. Winter was undrivable. Called Tire Rack and got the deal of my life. They had leftover original T/A wheels from the Firehawk and slapped them on Blizzaks for $640 USD delivered. Each winter I just installed them myself. Not only was snow and ice driving vastly improved, I actually looked forward to the snow because I could play under almost complete control! Yep. winter tires may be an expense but they are worth every penny when the snow comes. I see the greatest improvement in rear wheel drive cars.
This should be a no-brainer. Yet people still argue this point, which boggles my mind. If it snows where you liVe, and it stays on the ground...you need winter tires. END.
It's a decision every driver needs to make for themselves, but the self righteous attitude that you NEED them and are flat out wrong if you decide against is a little over the top for me. I live in New England and have never felt the need. If you feel more comfortable with them power to you, but all seasons will get you home safely in the occasional storm if you adjust your driving for conditions. You can't say I'm wrong...because I've been doing it...my whole life. Would I be safer with them? Sure maybe. I'd also be safer if I wore a helmet or just stayed home. Again, a decision everyone should make for themselves.
PeRX I don't think you know what the word need means. How have I been getting home the last 20 years if snow tires are needed? They may be safER, but if you're careful you can certainly get some safely without them. You're not making an argument. You're just throwing insults and repeating what others have said.
I'm shocked no one else has said this, but I think it's VERY inappropriate for a car review channel to have a tire sponsor. For example, they couldn't even say what the other tires in the video were for comparison. They could've been on 8 year old Toyos. And what happens when a car doesn't handle well in a review that's running on another tire brand- "well, they shoulda gotten Continentals". Watch and driving shoes for sponsors are one thing, but tires- no. I love this channel but I hope this isn't a trend.
Amazing presentation, all of it, not just the filming in these difficult lighting and temparature conditions. So creative of you to set it all up and to string this together in an entertaining way, great job! It is so dense with information I had to watch it twice and loved the way you break it up with the drifting bits. You really earned that sponsorship and I am glad for you, also Continental makes very good tires. I like them not just because they are from my home Germany. Just one little thing, please put the back headrest down if no one is using it, thanks.
Winter tires are important. People complain at the added expense, but never consider what the true costs are when they wreck with all-seasons. Insurance deductible $$ + increased premiums $$$. Just get a winter set and drive like a badass year round.
I don't use winter tires. No snow. However, I would like to request you do a rain tire test. Serious rains here and I think the all season tires are not that special.
@TheStraightPipes, what’s the song you used in the intro of the 2018 Mazda6 review video? I need to know Edit: Bruh, I've posted this on at least 3 of these videos, no answer. Help a brother out
It’s my first year with winter tires! It’s only snowed 3 times this winter so far but it definitely makes a difference. I have the Blizzaks on my 2018 Elantra Sport (heavily influenced getting this car thanks to you guys by the way) Everyone should get winter tires!
No winter tyres here. We've no need when we're lucky to get 2 days of snow per year. Anyway, when it snows here in England, the country grinds to a halt.
I remember back when I bought my car (2015 Hyundai Elantra) I was going over forum posts and checking for any weaknesses in the car and found that overall people thought it was a good car but some people said it was terrible in snow. A few other posts said it was very good in the snow though, so after going through the posts it appeared the people who thought the Elantra was terrible in the snow were running the OEM tires in winter while those who thought it was good were running snow tires. I bought my car and bought a set of snow tires before the first winter (Pirelli Ice Zero FR), and in the four winters since I've been impressed with its winter performance on snow tires (though the back end can get a little squirrely in the snow when the gas tank is close to empty so I tend to fill up the tank when snow is on the way which keeps it planted nicely).
Winters for me. I wasn't really a believer until I bought my first winter set. Having said that, you can get away with all-weather tires if you adjust your driving a little more than you do with dedicated winters.
I am in Quebec and of course I've got winter tire, Continental Extreme contact on my Mini Cooper S and Nokian Hakka 9 studed on my MB B250.Always had winter tires on all my cars !!!
I always put on Winter Snow/Ice tires. Its the manufacturers fault people don't put them on. They call non winter ones All Season and average people use that name in their decision. They think the old days of putting on winter tires is not needed anymore. They should be called 3 season tires. So many people get stuck in 4wd or AWD SUV's and I pass right by them in my Golf R with my winters.
I’m rocking Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4s on my 2018 mk7.5 Golf R out here in Vancouver. Awesome winter tire! Can’t recommend them enough! Congrats on the sponsorship Jakub and Yuri! Keep going, love your videos and reviews!
Huge fan and supporter of Winter Tires. There is, however, something to be said about All-Weather (not All-Season!) tires, which truly do offer better performance in the winter, while not being completely ruined when used through the Summer. Nokian WRG4's for example. They are expensive, but this is what I often suggest to those who complain they can't store a set of tires for half the year.
Guys guys guys, I LIVE in Montréal, you coulda stopped in or had a meetup....with me at least. :0 Also I need tires this year for my 944 turbo and promise to shop Contis, they have a great product for sports car in snow and rain in my experience. Next time you’re in town...
1stly, i love how upbeat and positive ya'll are! it's refreshing. there's other folks that have channels that cover cars or w.e and..dang. whining & nitpicking, oy. so, 'Thank you!' But yes..i love winter tires. wisconsin is a state that necessitates them. i buy Cooper's, Winter Evolution..because made in USA where i live, really fair price of around $100 each, depending on size so a huge amount of performance for that modest $. they are unidirectional snowies, which in my 35 yrs of driving experience, are the way to go. they pump snow/slush out from under the tire, just as they do rain, it's amazing. just yesterday i drove my droptop, shod with a summer/3 season tire in the snow. the traction limits were nowhere near as good as the snow tires i have on my minivan, it was super clear. great episode, guys. thnx. ❄
I've been a subscriber since I think your ct6 video and I always really wanted you guys to bring a subscriber into one of your reviews could you guys do something like that 500k subscriber's hint hint
YES ALWAYS run snows your CANADIAN. I have run snows for 25 years in Southern Ontario in many different types of vehicles, ITS SAFER, you save your nice summer wheels for summer, and they help get you through the winter. GOOD Video guys.
@@diogobotelho5141 My All weather tires have the alpine symbol, or three peak mountain snowflake symbol. Governing bodies consider my tires to be good enough to be a winter tire. All weather tires are full of compromises, are not as good as dedicated winter tires, but they are most certainly better than an all season tire.
YES!!! Living in Michigan I put winter tires on my Outback. I NEVER-EVER get stuck. Not even close. The tire dealer will store your tires for you for a small fee so its not a hassle.
We're super excited to be partnered with Continental this year! Do you use All Season tires or winters?

Sorry I’m on all season side, but at least the tires are Continental on my CR-V
KO2s are my pick. You guys should find the smallest wheel/tire combo that you can fit on a car. I've never seen it done. Might be interesting.
What company is the all-season tires?.........

Of course it’s a big different to Summer tires lol.
Ivan Sensei places where it gets cold and snowy. Portugal and the majority of Spain do not need that, and I’m pretty sure the same goes for other Southern European countries.
Koolmite sure southern Europe doesn't need snow tyres, only northern part of Italy
“I regret getting winter tires for my car”
says literally no one ever.
It depends on where you live, because where i live it get's cold in winter but it doesn't snow and there is no ice
SùMou in NJ we havent really had snow all winter is been a steady 40 which isn't normal
@@hsvcommodore4111 Winter tires still give substantially better grip in cold conditions even if you're driving on dry pavement. They're made from a much softer rubber and adhere to the surface better.
Some mis-informed sucker in Florida probably said it before... lol
I'm actually surprised at how well the all-seasons performed, in many other tests, the difference is even larger lo. I think Continental wanted to also flex their all-season capabilities :p
Me too, but those all-seasons are probably brand new. Either way, winter tires ftw!
I agree but one thing that can't be shown on video is the lack of confidense and feel of all seasons on ice n snow. In real world winter driving all seasons are sketchy as ..... ;) You would never drive that aggressive with cars around you with all seasons..... well almost never haha.
Indeed; I've seen versions of this test many times before, and I've never seen the all-seasons so close to the winters!
Where it counted the winter tires were significantly better. Not to mention studded snow tires are also an option.
That's because it's an AWD. Difference is greater with FWD RWD
Never used winter tyres. Not because im neglectful. Just because i live in australia and winter goes as as low as 10 degrees Celsius. I havent even seen snow in my life
Grew up in Florida, I didn't know winter tires were a thing until I was around 20.
Arent there snow areas in Australia too
@@t-bone9239 Nope.
Where my Mustang owners at for point #3 lol
Except winter tires are worse in all these categories than all seasons when in dry pavement. Most of my winter driving is on dry pavement. Why would I want to be safer a handful of times a winter, but less safe most of the time in winter?
Brandon Marzolf if it’s below freezing temperatures, the snow tires will perform better then all seasons
@@PeRRXX In deed. The rubber compound loses elasticity below freezing, and tires turn into icicles.
snow driving in snow tires with awd is one of lifes greatest pleasures.
CrashBomber - I know what you mean but for me one of the greatest pleasures is taking them back off in Spring and refitting the Summer set 😊
Gotta love when you take em off and when you let off the gas it feels like you're just gliding down the road without losing any momentum lmao
Thanks straight pipes for clarifying the need for winter tires vs 3 season. I learned something new today.
Super happy for you guys with the sponsorship. I’ve been running snow tires in eastern Ontario since 2002 and currently rocking the Continentals!!!
I'm pretty sure you guys are the only channel that can make an infomercial interesting
Haha thanks
All seasons are meh in all conditions. A pair of winter and summer tires are a must if you live in a country with these conditions
I think this should be mandatory in the other provinces as well.
They still salt the roads out of curiosity?
Jorge Arroyo yup shit load of salt! Aha
Because of that same law idiots are now driving winter tire all year long! Should test how bad winter tire are in summer!
@@cywoods60 winter tire in summer? Never tested, that's why I'm curious about the result.
Well done guys! I have a 2018 CRV, live in Montreal, on winter tires, and since 1989!
I got winters after almost getting stuck in my '03 Corolla 5spd. Since then, I now have a Fiesta ST that NEEDS winters. Best choice I've made for tires!
You guys are awesome! Yes, we always have our cars in winter tires in the winter. Cool demo and cool track. Looks like filming was fun. Heidi
I can't really justify winter tires here in North Carolina, but if I lived somewhere with a consistent winter, I'd definitely be getting winter tires.
Same state, and same situation for me! Snow just doesn’t happen much, maybe 7 days of the year at most. I’m using Bridgestone potenza
Yeah that's fair
I'm from Montreal. Winter tires are mandatory here for the winter season. I have studded Nokian Nordman 7 tires. Great value
Yuri's face whenever Jakub sends it always kills me. Its a staple hahaha
Got my set of Continental Vikingcontact 7's today! Excited for some snow now!
❤️ the drift transitions. Probably should be an every episode thing
Insurance companies need to incentivize people putting on winter tires if there's a studied significant reduction in harm by using winter tires - like properly scientifically studied
maddmoneyshack AYOOOOOO
They do, a lot of insurance policies have winter tires discounts (at least in Ontario).
Yep, discount in Ontario if you have winters
Do you switch them out yourself or go to a tire shop?
@@bounce_hit3534 shop. Did it myself once, without a proper torque impact wrench and wrapped the roter with too much force.
But AWD doesn't have any advantage unless you're accelerating, correct? So 0 help with braking?
You know what's better than free tires... Watching you guys test them!
Congratulations on the sponsorship! Thanks for the informative change of pace video. So, winter tires are better than all season tires in the snow. Who could’ve guessed that? :-)
Have winter tires on both our Odyssey and TL, worth every penny. Not to mention, I now get to use my all-season/summer tires WAY longer!
I constantly try to convince my roommate to get winter tires. Gotta show him this
Always been a winter tire person ever since 2000.
Always get the best of the best... and Continentals while you're at it!
i have my summer and winter tires mounted on separated wheels for all my cars. unfortunately i tent to have to use the winter set most of the year in my area :(
many times stopping is more important then going . i use what ever snow tires i can afford , they are still much better then all seasons
awesome video guys!
It feels really good to see you guys new sponsorships and grow within automotive community, good luck guys :)
I used continental max contact 5
And apart from wearing out a little more aggressively I can’t see any fault with them.
Justin M. Brant we definitely don’t live in the same region.
Hey my favorite Car channel is partnering with the company I work for! I work for a Tire Manufacturing Plant in Southern Illinois
Keep making sick tires ❤️
END.
Preach. Got them on mine and my dad continues to be in denial to this day that they aren't worth it lmfao
Even if it doesn’t snow but gets extremely cold, winter tires are a must
It's a decision every driver needs to make for themselves, but the self righteous attitude that you NEED them and are flat out wrong if you decide against is a little over the top for me. Again, a decision everyone should make for themselves.
pcosta816 you’re delusional. If it snows,m every year, you absolutely NEED snow tires. They are much safer then all seasons.
PeRX I don't think you know what the word need means. How have I been getting home the last 20 years if snow tires are needed? They may be safER, but if you're careful you can certainly get some safely without them. You're not making an argument. You're just throwing insults and repeating what others have said.
Best commercial I’ve ever seen!! Good job guys!!
The other tires were Continentals
Amazing presentation, all of it, not just the filming in these difficult lighting and temparature conditions. So creative of you to set it all up and to string this together in an entertaining way, great job! It is so dense with information I had to watch it twice and loved the way you break it up with the drifting bits. You really earned that sponsorship and I am glad for you, also Continental makes very good tires. I like them not just because they are from my home Germany. Just one little thing, please put the back headrest down if no one is using it, thanks.
"were super happy to have continental on board"
Has a continental tire chilling in the back seat 🤔😏
Winter tires are important. People complain at the added expense, but never consider what the true costs are when they wreck with all-seasons. Insurance deductible $$ + increased premiums $$$. Just get a winter set and drive like a badass year round.
Continental makes some of the best bicycle tires too ... good brand!
:) Indeed, I have GP4KS2 on all my bikes I'll have to go through them first so I can upgrade to GP5K
I'm in Quebec and I'm 100% with you guys on the winters. Although a lot of folks still drive like crap in the snow.
I love seeing those Cadillac boats drifting and driving hard
lol the xts is hardly a boat. Go check out a Cadillac fleetwood from the 80's...thats a boat.
I don't use winter tires. No snow. However, I would like to request you do a rain tire test. Serious rains here and I think the all season tires are not that special.
Winter tyres obviously. Because of Switzerland + BMW M2.
Watching you guys you always put a smile on my face keep doing what you doing you do a great job! Be well stay safe!
@TheStraightPipes, what’s the song you used in the intro of the 2018 Mazda6 review video? I need to know

Thank you for the weather conversion !!!!
Visor test on that subie?
It’s my first year with winter tires! It’s only snowed 3 times this winter so far but it definitely makes a difference. I have the Blizzaks on my 2018 Elantra Sport (heavily influenced getting this car thanks to you guys by the way)
Everyone should get winter tires!
No winter tyres here. We've no need when we're lucky to get 2 days of snow per year. Anyway, when it snows here in England, the country grinds to a halt.
Even in Germany the traffic collapses with a little snow and lately winter tires are required for the winter time.
2:21 scared the crap outta me
Awesome episode. Congratulations on the sponsorship! I have a wrx and a Tacoma and definitely run winters on both. Always have, always will
Winters for me.
The tire at the back 😂
Buckled in for safety
Huge fan and supporter of Winter Tires. There is, however, something to be said about All-Weather (not All-Season!) tires, which truly do offer better performance in the winter, while not being completely ruined when used through the Summer.
Nokian WRG4's for example. They are expensive, but this is what I often suggest to those who complain they can't store a set of tires for half the year.
Nokian WRG3's and WRG4's are awesome tires, that's what I use in Vancouver where we don't get much snow.
Guys guys guys, I LIVE in Montréal, you coulda stopped in or had a meetup....with me at least. :0 Also I need tires this year for my 944 turbo and promise to shop Contis, they have a great product for sports car in snow and rain in my experience.

I'm not a winter tire person......
Because I live in Hawaii 😎
All weather tires for me, don't have the room or funds to purchase dedicated winter tires right now.
notquitesane so a 3 season tire.
