No, the all-seasons CC2 is less safer than a WINTER tyre in the winter. It's not only below the Alpin 6, because there are better winter tyres than Alpin 6. The same happens in the summer. And it's normal, because a "2 in 1" product will always be less performant than the two dedicated products the marketing is suggesting that it replaces.

Agree, they’re making the All-season vs. All-weather confusion worse. People hear this and think every all-season is an all-weather tire and then end up driving garbage tires in winter conditions and endanger everyone.
Hi. I’m from Brazil but now I live in Canada this will be my first winter I have a car with four new tires all season end this car is just front wheel drive. So my question is I need put winter tires?
True, it's vague because it makes some dumb people go for the less safe all-seasons/weather tyres, where Michelin reputation (thus the market share) is far better, helping them gain additional sales from naive, inexperienced drivers. And the CC2 is not even the best all-seasons/weather tyre, it went to the 3rd place (see Tyre Reviews - Jonathan). Today's best all-seasons/weather tyre is Pirelli AS SF3 (ofc, less safe than the best winter tyres from Pirelli, Bridgestone, Continental, Hankook etc.)

Excellent video... your explained is very easy and understanding really very much useful for me thanks very much for sharing it's very informative video.
Great video but I think it causes confusion between the different terms used for tyres in different parts of the world. In the UK, we have a summer tyre, which seems to be called an all season tyre in the US, however some in the US call these 3 season tyres. We have an all season tyre which is designed to work all year round, but these seem to be called all weather tyres in the US. Then we have winter tyres, which are also called winter tyres in the US.
That's an extremely bad idea....you'll end up with dramatically and unpredictable front/rear balance and handling issues with such different tires at each end of your vehicle. Virtually all tire manufacturers state that winter tires should only be used in sets of four. Summer tires on the front steering wheels will have you understeering at every corner in winter driviing conditions. Do do it! (Fellow Iowa driver)
Hm, that all season tyre probably won't handle 230 kph very well....nor will it stop in the wet like my Bridgestone Blizzaks. Changing is a chore but there are very good reasons.
All season tires and all weather tires are not the same thing. An all weather tire is a hybrid between an all season tire and a winter tire. It has the mountain snowflake symbol on it but an all season tire does not.
I got swayed into buying the Cross Climate 2s because our old all seasons work fine for all seasons where I live but all the reviews indicated these worked better at everything and I needed a replacement, so I "upgraded" to these. What I didn't count on was the hit to the gas mileage. OMG, now I have the poor mileage of a winter tire all year round and don't have the traction of good winter tires. All the reviews just skip that fact. I've lost over 10%. You can tell how much rolling resistance they have because as you run them down the highway, they heat up so much you can watch on the dash as the pressure increases by 3 PSI. Now I just paid $1,000 for the tires and am going to pay another $1000 in gas over the 40,000 miles of their lifetime. Oh, yay. They do handle decently, but just imagine if everyone increased their fuel consumption by 10%.
I live in Montana and just stick with All Season and not even mess with swapping. Save me the $150 from changing to winter tires every year and simply drive less.
The answer is If you live in an area with severe winter conditions in winter then you need and want both sets of tires. Get 2nd set of rims and rotate winter tires on and off ant the beginning and end of winter seasons. Run the all season/all weather if they have the 3 peaks mountain symbol for spring summer and fall. You will always be protected from inclement weather with this approach. If you live in a warmer climate in winter 50-70 degrees temperatures and only rarely or occasionally drive to winter conditions then run the all weather tires year round and carry chains or an auto sock just in case it gets extreme weather. 👍✅
No. The 3PMS symbol is irrelevant, as it is an old and a very minimal standard for winter (even most of the cheap tyres have it). Then the answer is in having two sets of tyres: performant dedicated winter tyres for smth like Oct-April and performant UUHP summer tyres for the warm part of the year. If you want to keep safe your family (and for the other participants to the traffic). If not, keep your dumb behavior.
I think that’s good advice for many people. For me I live in SLC so I run real winter only tires from Nov- April. But often Snowbird stays open for skiing untill tge 4th of July. But Its to warm in the city to still be running your winter tires. But it still snows often up at Altitude up at the ski resorts just 15 minutes from my house. So my summer tire is an all season or all weather tire. 🛞 that way I still have some reasonable snow drivability after I rotate my winter tires off. If I tried to drive straight up little cottonwood canyon in May or June in a snowstorm I would kill myself or someone else if I was running summer tires. 🛞 so that doesn’t work for me.
@@michaelthomas2803 Your case is a special one, just like mine (I am skiing for more than three decades, living for the last 5 seasons in a ski resort)- I live in the mountains, so I can get snow earlier in the fall or very late in the spring. But having a Miata ND2 RF (that has its winter tyres for max. 4 months), a Lexus hybrid F Sport (having the winter tyres on according to the predicted weather, about 6 months) and a Suzuki Jimny (on which I move to A/T for summer only), I am fully covered against any weather twist (because it never happened to have snow in the summer around our city - only high up in the mountains' peaks). Thus, except the BFG K02 A/T - that is an "all-seasons" tyre, meaning awful from fall to spring - I never had all-seasons/weather tyres that - like any "2 in 1" type of product - are worse in the summer than UUHP summer tyres and worse in the winter than dedicated winter tyres - this is proven by the tests/measurements done by the likes of Tyre Reviews (Jonathan). So, still no, all-seasons are for others, but none of my professional drivers friends are risking their lives with all-seasons tyres.

As it's very good in the snow it makes sense but need reassurance on those sizes on a sports car with that power . As yours is a m140i it's not far off the same . You definitely recommend then ?
@@vivabielsamot5828 They are very good tyres but I only use them from October to March UK, outside of this I use (Goodyear Supperports) on separate wheels. I wouldn't recommend CC2'S as your only tyre on a performance car unless you drive easy when it gets warm out. A performance summer tyre beats them in every way past 10-15c ambient temperature. They are not recommended to anybody, not even to dumb drivers disregarding the safety (their) others' life). It's elementary: the best tyres for winter are the performant winter tyres.
All season tires are the most optimal. It isn't really a question. The most optimal thing is to go for all season tires, but you have to get really good ones. Do not skimp on them, because you won't get the benefit of similar performance to winter tires. Season tires are for extreme regions where driving conditions gets really difficult. For mild climates, you should always go with all season.
@@codincoman9019 You don't know that those tires have practically the same stopping distance than winter tires. The only real difference is in their traction in snow.

Dumb comment. Winter means not only snow, but freezing temperatures, ice, slush etc. Then, the best tyres for winter are the dedicated winter tyres, not at all the less safe all-seasons/weather tyres.
There’s something dodgy about many of the comments on here : they look like they’ve been paid for… it’s an informative video for sure but some people seem to think this is the second coming of Christ.
This guy added a bucket load of confusion by calling the cross climates “all season” tires when they are in fact “ all weather” tires. All seasons are 3 season tires whereas all weather tires are 4 season tires. Stick to the proper conventions and don’t confuse us even more.
There is a lot of marketing for the weak-minded snowflakes. For start, the 3PMS symbol is a bare minimum (set some decades ago) for being a little better than a summer tyre. Definitely not relevant for people pursuing safety (ideal being that all drivers aim for safety, but reality is not many care). Then, presenting the all-seasons/weather tyres as being safe enough for winter is a lie. Actually, any driver facing even a mild winter (not much snow or almost none, but freezing temperatures that allow for ice formation or at least slush) should go for dedicated winter tyres, they are far safer than the all-seasons/weather tyres.
Michelin winter tires are junk. I had the Michelin x ice winter tires on one of my vehicles a few years back and I could not stop for stop signs or red lights no matter how slow I drove. They went right back to the dealer and they installed Blizzak winters on and I never had another issue again. Ever since then I run nothing but Blazzak winter tires. I also let other people that are thinking of putting Michelin winter tires on that they will regret it. Blizzaks all the way.
Usually any new tire needs to be broken in. All tires are made in a mold that has some form of release agent to help them loosen for mold removal. Maybe Blizzak treats the tires to another step that removes it. However, most tests show that the XICE is a great tire. I think your specific tires needed to be broken in.
@@sportshot2350 That makes sense but I did not make me feel safe. Also I had my kids safety to think about as they just started driving at the same point. I knew how Blizzaks handled and I felt 100% comfortable with them even with my kids driving.

How can anyone take you seriously when you're dressed like that!
What exactly is your problem ??
@@theSunKing142 he means the mascot :D
How can anyone take YOU seriously with that name and picture?🙄
I got crossclimate 2 and very happy with them.
Also, they produce less road noise compare to Michelin Premiers.
french guy speaking english? LOL
Lol Michelin you pay people for reviews?
Love the info, hate the presentation - he's reading at you instead of speaking to you.
