I can relate to you so much. I get jealous very easily, as well. And I don't allow myself to fully trust, fully let go and be happy, or fully let my guard down because of the fear of getting hurt...

I can totally relate to the fear of abandonment and low-self esteem and being angry and sad all the time at the same time. One major key thing during my therapy so far that I've realized is that I get very angry at myself for having certain feelings or thoughts and then I'm very mean to myself in my mind and it leaves me really angry and sad and all around anxious. Mindfulness practice and compassion towards myself has been a huge help to me personally with allowing myself to have thoughts and feelings and learning why I have them. It makes it so much easier to deal with them and I'm not anxious from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to sleep anymore.

Dear Katrin, You have made a very BIG step forward ! As your "watcher" I feel sooooo proud of you !!! :) to admit your weaknes is extremly hard and difficult thing to do (I know that too well :/ ) aaaand You made it ! that was 1-st step and usually the 1-st one is the worst one, so the next one will be a bit better. Good for You Katrin - keep going and will be fine - soon will be better, much better. take care. Karoline, xx

Therapy is great! Also, I tend to do the same in relationships, not "fully" committing for fear of getting hurt, not opening myself for fear of someone I care about hitting me when I'm more vulnerable, but it never truly helped: when things end you suffer just the same and before you don't enjoy things as much.
I don't know much about you, but the person you've been in your videos in the last years is very interesting and amazing and full of life and overall a person you'd really miss if you left, and many people obviously feel that way, so feel proud of your channel's success!
Thanks a lot for the video, it's very personal but that's what makes it wonderful: we all have weaknesses, we all stumble sometimes, it's brave to call for help and be proud of it. Have a great week!

Therapy saves lives. Not just in terms of suicide prevention but also in major ways when it comes to improving a person's quality of life. I have been going to therapy for 11 years now because I'm schizophrenic and I am in no way shape or form embarrassed about it. For me it's no different than going to the hospital to get treatment if I break my leg. And there SHOULD be no difference in that regard, for all human beings. And I don't think you're being too open or honest about this, on the contrary. A good way to open up dialogue and discussion about mental illness/personal struggle or anything along those lines is for someone with a big platform (like you) to open up about their issues, struggles and their personal outlook on the issue of therapy as a whole. And, on a whole different scale, in terms of your channel, I personally love these videos the most. Because we get to know you better, we see the real you (not that you're not yourself in your other videos, I hope you know what I mean), the insecure and flawed but beautifully so, person that we all love so much. Thank you for making this video!

Loved this video and how open and vulnerable you made yourself. I'm studying psychology and have been seeing a therapist every week for a while now and I think therapy is the best thing and is such an incredible way to help us humans understand ourselves and how our minds work :) Glad to hear that you're on a positive journey of self discovery and wish you the best of luck in your future therapy journey :) xxx

I have not watched many serious videos on this channel, but I'd like to point out how, even in the simple and goofy videos and aspects, I see an astoundingly beautiful woman, both mentally and physically. I love the fact that she is so open with this journey and her feeling from such an open and free platform as the internet. Katrin, if you are reading this, I just want to let you know that your achievements aren't you. You are you. Your character is you, and from what you've revealed to us is an awful lot of character. You're funny and compassionate and admirable. I admire your attitude towards your situation. Your open-mindedness. You just seem like a great person, and know that you are important.

Katrin, thank you so much for making this video.
Every single thing you have said is how I have been feeling for the past 5 years, and it slowly got worse and worse until it felt like I was completely overwhelmed by it.
Luckily for me a wonderful human being came into my life whilst I was working at my job, and ever since we have kept in touch.
She allowed me to reconnect with myself, and ever since I have thankfully managed to remain happier than I have in years.
It is a journey, and one that shall be tough at times.
I truly hope you find peace soon, you truly deserve it :)

CBT and therapy is so helpful. I went to a CBT group three times and it really allows you to understand why you're feeling that way and gives you the knowledge to think about those feelings differently. I would recommend it to everyone.
Katrin, one thing my therapist told me was "Anger is often the hidden the emotion of anxiety". Think of the fight or flight response. A few years ago a person had convinced me I was "crazy" and "bipolar". When I started therapy I learned I was just so anxious and depressed that my body was constantly trying to fight or flight. I'm glad you decided to talk to someone, it's made such a huge difference for me. Best of luck in your journey :)

It's insane to hear someone like you say this, it's sort of comforting in a odd way; It just grounds me and makes you relatable, like, you're a person who struggles with the same thing we all struggle with. I've been in "intermitente" therapy by more than a year 'cause almost all the same reasons you've been into and I learned that everything starts inside you (yeah, the same crap couchers speak about) and there's no mumble jumble about it. I also have the same feeling with happiness, like I don't know how to be happy or what makes me truly happy, but something really important that I've got out of therapy, is that you can redefine every single thing in your life by recognizing what you love and fear 'cause both things are what mainly rule human's life (for me) so whatever you do to yourself, to others or in your life in general that makes you feel fear, is also gonna produce you unhappiness and the opposite with love, whatever you do with love or that gives you a "love feeling", whatever it is, it's gonna make you happy.

I'm so happy you posted this! I am living with bipolar disorder, and a lot of it deals with anxiety, and I love that you are breaking the stigmatism that people shouldn't talk about their mental health. It's one thing to hear it from a therapist, but hearing it from a youtube personality is reassuring that you can be successful and deal with stuff that the rest of us also deal with.
The notion that mental health doesn't affect famous people frustrates me, because everybody is human. We all go through similar situations and deal with similar things.
Thank you for posting this, I'd love to hear more about your journey as you progress

A lot of what you said about how you feel rings very true to my feelings as well. People constantly tell me (my husband included) to 'just be happy'. And when you are a little cynical and protected, it's so hard. For the last couple years, I've felt down about a lot and irrationally angry and upset and I've lashed out for really no reason. Thank you for reminding me how amazing therapy is and that I need to get back in to speak to someone. Know that you're never alone in your feelings.

I've been in and out of therapy most of my life. Thank you for making this video. Mental healthcare is something near and dear to me especially when it comes to younger people. I am very proud of the fact that you took the steps you needed to help yourself. I have the same issues. I hide behind anger and a lot of negative emotions because I have a difficult time seeing what my value is. Everything you described about yourself is how I've felt about myself as a teenager. It scares me to watch my children potentially having the same issues.

I just really want to compliment the way you stand up for yourself, you're making big steps in the good way! You have the knowledge about your situation and that is the key to open new doors and to create new chances!
I know the thoughts/feelings you're having. Being angry is a vicious cycle and people easily learn to deal certain situations with anger. And due to that you start replacing other feelings with your best known feeling : anger. A phyciatrist diagnosed me with a borderline personality disorder 4 years ago. And suddenly everything made sense and I'm no longer anxious of not knowing myself completely. The feelings I experience are much easier to understand now and that gives me some sort of peace of mind. Hopefully you'll come to that same point soon!

I'm actually studying psychology @ university, and I feel like I want to share this video everywhere I can. But most of all I want to thank you, because unfortunately people who think like this are few, and it's absolutley not rare, at least in my country, to be bashed for what I study and what I want to become in my life, which is basically a helper and a listener for who believes to need a person to talk to freely. Katrin, I am 23 and can completely relate to everything you have said in this video. You honestly said everything that's in my head.
I can totally relate to knowing the reasons why we are jealous and anxious but just trying to walk around and be happy everyday. I know I should be thinking how grateful I should be for everything I have in my life but instead just am mad all the time. I wish I knew how to not be angry at the world and see what my partner sees. We've been together 5 and a half years, we have done the long distance thing and now have good jobs and have bought a house together but why am I still so angry and unhappy? I feel like no matter what I achieve or do in life i'll always be unhappy. What a sad thought.

Katrin, i love you so much. You always say stuff like "Do what makes you happy, and dont care what others think, because its your life youre living for, not anyone elses." and "Do what you want as long as your not hurting anyone else." and those are my life modos. like... people shouldnt care what others do with their life, as long as they arent hurting anyone. and i feel that you spread that message everyday and i think thats great. and honestly i think you are one of the funniest and nicest people i have seen. you never tell anyone they are wrong for what they choose to do. Maybe you mention some stuff that you dont agree or like that other people do, but you never say that the people who do it are bad people. You are just a genuinely nice, funny, and great person, and i am licky to have stumbled upon your videos. and i have gon to therapy for about a year or longer every week and recently stopped because i was at a point when i could deal with my problems(mainly anxiety as well) on my own. i am so lucky to have had the chance to get help and get an amazing therapist. and i encourage you to do whatever it is you need to do to keep yourself happy and healthy, because you deserve to learn to love yourself and learn to be happy. Holy shit. When I was in a relationship I felt the same feelings, and when you said you felt the way you do because of low-self esteem therefore making everyone a threat, a huge light bulb went off in my head. That's why I always felt jealous and threatened by anyone who was ever around my then boyfriend! Of course we aren't together now because I know now that he contributed to those feelings of hopelessness and fear of losing him; it wasn't 100% just me being insecure. And I totally understand always feeling angry because if you allow yourself to be happy, when you do get hurt it's gonna hurt way fucking worse. And I tried to control him too because of being scared to lose him and when I lost that power I felt extreme anxiety as well. Thanks for sharing this, Katrin. Xoxo

watching your video was so powerful. I feel the exact same way. I feel insecure and that why would anyone like me and so i tend to stay to myself. I worry that my boyfriend is interested in every other girl. I always thought there was something wrong with me for thinking the way i do, which there is, but i didn't even think of how to change it. Thank you for your inspiration and now i don't have to feel alone. I love your personality based upon the videos i watch. You are very honest and kind and true to yourself and really beautiful. I never would have thought that you would feel insecure the way i do.

Oh my god! It was such a relief to hear that jealousy-thingy bc I feel exactly the same sometimes. You have no idea how much it helped me that I heard my feelings as words from someone else. Now feel like I'm not wacky for feeling like that.

I used to have extreme anxiety as well and Major Depressive Disorder, agoraphobia (basically i was a mess) and one day I found some therapist Morty Lefkoe on the internet, who made a program to guide you through your formative experiences from childhood. It's basically a set of 20 minute recordings that ask you questions to get you to really think about what happened that made you believe that you're inadequate, not important, incompetent, mistakes and failure are bad etc.
Honestly, I completed it last summer in June 2015 (i did it gradually over a period of 2 years cause its a big change to eliminate all of the beliefs at once), and ever since I have not experienced any anxiety AT ALL. Turns out the source of anxiety is the fear you get when you're a child that your parents will abandon you if you displease them...
So you live your whole life in fear of making mistakes just because as an infant, your parents could decide whether you live or die.
SERIOUSLY everyone try this!!! They offer 3 beliefs for free, so you can see if it works. 3 beliefs might not eliminate it, but it will definitely improve it, I know it did for me

Katrin, personally I watch your videos because I think your a very interesting person with strong views. I think it's great how you share with us how you feel about certain subjects without really worrying how other people will view you or react & that's a great quality that many people lack. Your helping a lot of people out with these types of videos (as you can see in your comments) keep up the good work gal x

I appreciate that you are willing to share this kind of stuff. I'm sorry that you are battling with these things but just know you are on the right road, well done for taking the first step in getting help. I admire your calmness and how level headed you are about topics you discuss, I think you have a lot of insight and have a very good/natural well of conveying things. Keep your head up princess, if you don't the crown will fall. Hugs from South Africa xxx

That was really vulnerable! Many people wouldn't be brave enough to open up to this but you are so right, everyone could benefit from therapy and learning about the patterns of behaviour that make up our ego and taking the time to dig a little deeper and get to know our true selves and love that person. Thank you for sharing :) I'm sure it will help many people. Good luck on your path.
The happiness thing... for me it's acquiring many little moments of happiness. Yoga taught me that, being present for all of the mundane yet sweet moments. Nature, my dog, silly little hobbies like crafting air plant holders and growing baby succulents. I swear these little things add up to a deep well of content when you can learn to be present and appreciate them.
    Hugs :)

I can relate to your state of being a little mad to protect yourself from the surprises life might throw at you. But then you don't really live..you exist in a protective state...Stop and let live your life in full. If you fall, it will hurt but the pain is temporary and there to make you appreciate happy days more.

Hearing you say that was like a revelation. I have anxiety and depression (I don't know where it stems from). I did CBT also but it didn't work for me it made me more anxious having to do the 'homework' and having to be perfect every week. I'm starting a new therapy in October I don't know anything about it but I hope it works as well as CBT has for you! You seem so more cheerful, and I find all the psychological stuff reall interesting too :) xxxx

Can absolutely relate to your problems! I'm happy you're comfortable about sharing your insecurities, bc its crazy that its a taboo thing to talk about. I've always felt like the "weirdo" with too much anxiety and problems to count, so its refreshing to watch someone who can talk about it without being ashamed.. For me, that shows alot of confidence! Love your videos, you go girl ☀️

This was so great for me to watch, because you explained exactly how i feel all the time, but i wasn't able to word it before...
I went to a sort of therapy (too complicated to explain) and in a nutshell they told me that absolutely all my problems throughout my life have been caused because i don't love myself.
I thought i did, but now i realize i also like myself for my achievements, and i really don't feel like people really like me for who i am... I honestly don't even know who i am without all of the things that "define" me. It is extremely difficult to get over this feeling simply because it has been this way my whole life. I've tried to truly love myself, but i just don't know how to do it.
Please keep making videos under this subject as you start to discover how to love yourself and truly be happy, they would probably help me a lot :)

Thank you so much for sharing it was so nice to hear your story. I definitely relate to more than a few points! If you're interested I would suggest looking up the idea behind "self compassion", my friend just showed me some studies based around this idea and it's extremely interesting and may be a huge help with your self esteem (I struggle with that as well). It's basically about treating yourself with the same forgiveness as you would another person and changing your thoughts to be more kind and realistic towards yourself. It has honestly helped me so it may help you as well! Best of luck with your journey 💗

    Hi Katrin,
thank you very much for posting this video. I've been suffering a lot over the last couple of years from similar things. I cannot tell exactely what it is because i cannot afford a therapy myself. Where i live you have to pay for yourself or wait lots and lots of months up to years until you can get it paid by healthinsurance.
I've been watching this video like 10 times now over the last couple of days. And the one sentence you say is stuck in my mind. "I don't know how to just be happy." I feel this so bad. I really really hope, from the bottom of my heart, you will overcome this way of thinking slowly but surely and, in the end, be just a happy little person. I would really appreciate it, if you kept us updated on this. Just by talking about it, you can make it easier for some of us to not think we're alone with these kinda problems. Thank you. xo Natascha

I understand exactly what you're speaking about. Some people are born happy while others must learn how to be happy, and let go of the anxiety. It's not wrong to be that way, it's just less fun and it consumes more energy. Keep up the good work in finding yourself and looking to better yourself! cheers from a fellow anxiety-controlling miss who's trying to keep it under control as well :)

It's nice to see a vulnerable side, thank you for sharing. Therapy can be such a good tool. As a Counsellor, can I suggest a great thing to do to help increase fulfilment in your life together with partner (and yourself), if you volunteer together doing something you both like/ love, ie; volunteering at an animal shelter, plant trees, volunteer at a homeless shelter or help at a community radio station etc etc.. you get the idea...you not only have a common interest together to discuss, but it is also rewarding to give back to your community on some level. I recommend it at least once a month. Even if your not doing it exactly together you share a similar experience. It really does give you an enrichment in your life that you can't get from "paid" work.
I too have experienced some of the emotions you expressed in this video, and although it may never be perfect, it is good to be 'emotionally intelligent' (great book/ series, btw) to not only the people around you, but also to yourself.
Also, I feel to say, remember that you can't change anyone around you, you can only make them aware, once you express yourself truly, then allow yourself to no longer own it negatively. If you do have struggles in your relationship, the John Gottman books/ videos are a good healthy way to stay on top of keeping your relationship emotionally healthy.
Lastly, I wanted to say in another vid I watched too, but you have the most beautiful teeth/ smile. Your eyes light up when you do! Despite sometimes not feeling like you want to. Anyways, I wish you increased happiness & health in your life. Take care! :)

this is awesome. I think i learned a lot of myself.
although i though i wouldn't. I was like "she seems to ne confident as hell... she won't have the same exact problems as i do".
there is always something to struggle about.. That is how we try to get a better person. but i think you have a lot of reasons to be proud of. A lot we don't even know. you look great. you build up a live with someone yourself. you raise a cute puppy yourself. you are talented in filming videos. you seem to have a great charakter so sunny sees in you a person to stay with. you have the talent to make him happy. otherwise he would not be with you. It does not really matter why or how you make him happy - if you know or you don't - but you do it. and that is great. keep always in mind, that there is a reason for our beeing that we should be proud of.

It does sound so easy to get an appointment in sweden, what makes me feel totally dissapointed about the health system (?!) here in germany. I waited almost half a year for it and noticed then, that the therapist wasn't the person I enjoyed talking to, so that I then contacted a therapist who is not payed by health insurance but who I felt good with.
Thank you for your honesty, I hope you can manage it to be happy one day :)
