Dude modified a standard circ saw with a gas strut to make it plunge. Look around at his shop, diy bench dog clamps, diy table saw, diy plunge base for router, the list goes on and on. I tip my hat to you sir, i simply dont have the time to scratch build everything. You won yourself a subscriber. Next video will probably be a homebuilt battery drill ........
This is certainly one of the better DIY actual track systems I've seen on YT. The lock-unlock is great and the use of taped threads in wood saves time & money on threaded inserts
This is brilliant. By exposing the miter track on top of the guide instead of installing it, no compromise of cutting depth is made. While other methods require 3/4“ thick board, this one used 1/2 inch, and could have gone with something thinner if it were not for the bottom t track. Also it cracked me when this guy made sounds like ”좋아!”
This is one of the best videos of making a homemade track saw by far and a router what a fantastic job you did I'm totally in all of your workmanship but it's giving me a great idea I'm going to try this one myself it looks like it's going to be far more hard lasting and more accurate thank you great job look forward to seeing more of your stuff
That's a good idea, thanks. I always just use a straight edge but I've been trying to convince myself that I need a track saw just because I want it but this will definitely suffice
Loved the router rail add on. We always built our own track saw. But I hung a lot of doors in Palm Beach the main use was cutting off the doors, had to be right. Got to say I did like your layout better.
I paid very little for stuff like this readymade like in Germany or somewhere. I believe the sheet of high quality plywood alone is more expensive, was cool to watch though but kind of strange. Anyway thanks for sharing
Shortening screws, I usually run a bunch of screws through a block of wood with their ends sticking out and use a disk or saw to cut them all at the same length. But this does require me dressing the ends after the cut
Your excellent Tools, Workmanship, Skills are respectfuly appreciated. Your uploads gives an easy to follow the concept. Many will follow your jig designs. BUT for those not so skilled(myself included) wish you gave Dimensional plans. Be Blessed. Love from India
the top and the bottom t tracks are of different widths.. why? Just did a search, but I'm not finding that t tracks don't typically come in different widths. What am I missing here?
The wide T-track at the top serves as a guide for the circular saw, so the wider is better and stronger. The narrow t-track at the bottom is for use with hole-down clamps. Since it is thin, it can be inserted into plywood. The 12mm plywood I used cannot embed wide tracks. Wide tracks are thicker.
@@carpentak Thank you! I was hoping for some specs on the two different widths, so I could try to find where to source them. All of my searches keep coming up with only one t-track width :) By the way, the padauk and purpleheart are beautiful - nice project!
from what I can gather, the blue track is what is called "t-track" (and it is actually the universal kind of t-track that accepts various t bolts and hex heads) the silver is actually called "miter track" and is wider. Apologies in advance to anyone reading this if I have it wrong!
Very cool ideas. I'll definitely be stealing some of them. I think if you rub some paraffin wax inside the guide and along the guide rails, the saw will slide more smoothly.
Why not use the wide saw blades to start and finish the groove cut? 2 cuts instead of 2 cuts with standard saw, then change to the wide saw and do 2 more cuts?
That's because my wide saw blade vibrates too much and doesn't create a straight, clean finish line. I worked like that because I wanted to create a precise groove.
@@carpentak ahh... thanks for the video it's very informative and I hope someday I can make mine too hahaha... but I am not master woodworking... trying hard and think a lot to make one for my personal use at home for emergency purposes. thanks for the reply and good bless.

Having a cut more than 90% of the way through the plywood hoe long will it be until it snaps off or loosens
If only I had a table saw setup.

WOW! Very well thought out. Looks a bit labor-intensive/time-consuming, but looks like it was well worth the efforts. Thank you for sharing! Aloha
Part of your excellent results must come from the ‘love pat’ that the components receive throughout the process.
I love this saw guide. Is there a way you could do a parts list? If you could, please also include a link to where to get the rails.
A link to point you to is in the description. Others have no links. There are plenty if you search for 30mm t-tracks.
Thank you.
