A lot of DC exclusives have that special DC feel to them. Ya know, that arcady fun quirky design style that no other console really has. The games are special and unique in a way that makes them endearing.
Totally agree and to be fair I think the Saturn, PS1, N64 and Dreamcast all had very distinctive looks from one another and all for different reasons, something which has sadly been lost in the many years since as games and consoles largely morph into one another, although Nintendo's own titles still have a distinctive look
That's what Sega was aiming for with the Dreamcast, to branch out beyond the hardcore and reach the casual crowd. It ended up being better for the hardcore however as it has some of the best arcade fighters ever made as well as a variety of the weirdest games ever made. Crazy Taxi is one that falls into both categories. The casuals like it because it has a pick up and play mindset, but to fully master it and beat all it's modes and time attacks offers challenge for the hardcore. This to me was Sega at their best. It proves that they can make it work with enough fresh ideas.
As a huge fan of the Berserk series and knowing the story, I thank you for showing and making Sword of the Berserk a must-play for me. Today's going to be fun.
Great game. Too bad we never got the PS2 sequel. The PS4 Dynasty Warriors type game was actually pretty fun as well. Not amazing but you got to play as Zod which was awesome as was using the Berserk Armor.
@@animejoe4041 It had fixed camera angles that followed the player,a shame it wasn't at least an option for the US release since it was how the game is intended to be played.
God bless the Dreamcast VGA Box (or cable)! It still looks great to me 20 years later, fast, many games 60fps fluidity, animations and color. New games can’t even lock in 60fps (granted, higher resolutions, but if not used well, higher res can do more harm than good), so DC 60fps gaming is at least hyper smooth! 👍
I'd like to suggest both Zombie Revenge and Dynamite Cop! to this list. To the best of my understanding, both of these started in the arcade and found their way to the Dreamcast via the Naomi board, and neither game has ever been ported to any other home system. Both are awesome brawlers, and are great for multiplayer as well.
Dynamite Cop is awesome, I remember going to EB games to play it on their demo Dreamcast. Finally did get a copy a few years ago and man is it fun. Really disappointed it never got ported to current consoles and pc. The Dreamcast game library doesn't seem to get the HD ports that Sega Genesis games get.
I would also say: -Record of Lodoss War: Advent of Cardice, a fun little diablo clone and worthy anime title. -Tech Romancer! An amazing fighter with giant robots with a massive single player mode. Every character has a branching path story mode to play through, and they are parodies of all the classic mecha shows of the 90s, like Evangelion, Gundam and Macross, among many others.
Agree with Record of Lodoss War, but it's no mere "Diablo Clone" I think the weapon leveling (and transfer) system makes it a much better game than Diablo. Some of the optional areas and fights are super tough without being controller throw frustrating, but the rewards are also substantial for most of them.
I LITERALLY just said "There needs to be some fresh Sega Lord X content!" today. One of my favorite Dreamcast exclusives was Gundam Side Story: 0079 Rise from the Ashes. Its a proper mech sim with intuitive controls, a squad system, satisfying combat and nice graphics. The voice acting is all done by a who's who of well knowns.
Great game, and is criminally overlooked (even by Gundam fans). Playing as a lowly grunt Gundam pilot instead of one of the franchise heroes is a neat perspective, too.
That Dreamcast Gundam game is great. Besides a few decent PS2 Gundam games, we really haven't gotten any great Gundam games. The PS4 ones have been mediocre.
Toy Commander was and still is superb. It's a shame it was never given a sequel, I can imagine it doing well in the xbo 360 arcade days, especially if they included multiplayer.
Toy Commander is one of my favorite games of all time! I got it for my 9th bday in 1999 and had soo much fun playing alone and with friends. Countless hours of replay value for me (often just messing around on missions like “Chuck Amok”)
Agreed. Once you get past that insanely steep learning curve, there's hours upon hours of fun to be had. The Toy Story parody stage is one of the most insane things I've ever played.
I would like to see at least one more video of Dreamcast exclusives, but I'd say a "Better on Dreamcast" video would also be worth doing as well since there are a lot of games that came out on PlayStation and Nintendo 64, as well as a few games that originally came out on Saturn, that simply were better on the Dreamcast.
This is useful in comparing later rereleases as well. During this generation sometimes games had different tradeoffs on certain platforms, but occasionally one would shine brightest on a particular console, and there's not a lot of resources out there accessibly doing such comparisons.
The Dreamcast remains my favorite console of all time. I just love it. Still got one. Loved the V.M.U, modemn, peripherals. The graphics are still good and alot of good games. Thanka for the video and hope to see another one.
Dear SLX: I'm currently on preemptive isolation in Chile due to corona, and I'm also in the middle of moving to an appartment alone. Your videos have kept me accompained and entertained through all the lugging and loneliness. Keep up the good content and thank you.
The story of Sword of the Berserk isnt that crazy...it is based on a manga and the story was actually written by the original author. This game is mostly standalone from the manga but things are definitely rooted in the pre established lore.
Holy shit! I got a Dreamcast the day it launched. I bought and have so many DC titles that I thought I had all the great jems...I was wrong. For example, I never cared for D. This is why I stayed away from the sequel but after seeing the crazy RPG elements, FPS sequences, and open endedness makes me want it bad. We the fans need more! Give us that sweet, sweet Dreamcast the sequel video! What a bitter sweet time to be a gamer. We got to see Sega burn so bright with the Dreamcast and flare out far too quickly. When the Dreamcast launched and with so many showstoppers at launch...I thought we might have another Genesis on our hands. Had Sega just been in competition with Nintendo it might have gone down like that. Unfortunately, Sony was a huge unstoppable juggernaut that killed the dream. Now, this does not mean I didn't love the PS2...I got one the first week the console shipped. I just can't believe something as good as the Dreamcast ended like it did.
My personal favorite Dreamcast exclusive is... DRACONUS: Cult of the Wrym Although it often gets mixed reviews, I feel it is a hidden gem. It has an awesome atmosphere and unique feel to it. The smooth flow from indoors to massive outdoor environments was something virtually unseen at that time, amazing! Tons of cool levels with interesting puzzles too. 👍🎮
@Harris Zaindi Yes, try Wacky Races! A fun cart game based (obviously on the 60's cartoon) ... maybe didn't get mixed reviews but is definitely often overlooked. 👍🎮
It still breaks my heart to this day that Sega left the console market... the only comfort that is somewhat bitter sweet is that at least they went out with a bang and their final console is so loved and full of amazing games and some of the best exclusives of all time
Man Toy Commander brings back the nostalgia hard. We had a demo CD with that and Red Dog on which got played way too much when there was homework to be done.
D2 is actually really great. I would say that one of it's strengths is the mixing of different types of games. Just being another RE clone would have boring and dull no matter how well it was made. The RPG elements kept me interested and I played it twice on the DC. The control is no worse than any other Tank style control, they are all bad frankly. The soundtrack,by Kenji Eno was good enough that I bought the CD of it,and once you get past the slow beginning it really gets fun. The sense of mystery is good and it's amazing this game came out at all. Eno was an interesting game maker and it's a pity he's not around to continue to refine his style.
I'd genuinely never heard of this game until seeing it here and it looks interesting. I liked the original and loved Enemy Zero, which is still pretty tense to this day as its monsters are invisible and can be as frightening as your imagination allows. Also Deep Fear was a great title for the Saturn and Sega had some great alternatives to Resident Evil as well as a couple from that series
Harris Zaindi wait what I played both japanese and american versions of CV on the Dreamcast, and I don't remember any of them running at 60fps. 30fps and stable, sure, but nothing above that.
@@Gruntvc You should pick it up. I don't think it's too expensive. Once you get into the flow of it you'll be surprised at how good it gets especially at the end.
@@carllavery4442 Enemy Zero was very interesting as well. Only the limited save system holds it back a bit. I like it better than Alien Isolation. Boy that Kenji Eno. Dude in defence of berserk this is an anime that started in 1989 that is still publish today :) and there is a huuuuuge history on it. So Im not surprise about long dialogues. Thanks for the video.
I loved this episode! Dreamcast is one of my favorite consoles, I still remember picking it up on Xmas 99 and having a blast for years with it. I hope you can make a video that features Omikron, I don't know if it's a dreamcast exclusive but its a game worth playing it at least once.

The DC also had a bunch of arena type shooters, some that to my knowledge, didn't make appearances elsewhere: -Spawn: Into the Demon's Hand -Outtrigger -Heavy Metal: Geo Matrix Looking forward to the next part.
I haven't seen any comments refer to this game so I'll be the one to say it. Sega Marine Fishing is a great game on Dreamcast and is also exclusive to the platform other than being on Windows way back in the day. The Dreamcast fishing controller single handedly made this game feel almost identical to the arcade version and is a must own if you like Sega's fishing arcade games.
Super addicted to this channel! Soul Caliber 9/9/99 was a great day as it was the first time a home release not only came close to it's arcade counterpart but soundly beat it! It was an amazing day!
I had a lot of fun with Toy Commander it was cool pretending that you were playing with your own toys. I will say that I returned to the Dreamcast relatively recently and was shocked at the poor framerate of Sega Rally 2 as I never remembered it playing like that, yet the Saturn original is silky smooth. Still overall the Dreamcast was a console well ahead of it's time in many ways, such as online gaming, a second screen etc
Two vastly underrated games-- E.G.G. was a unique and immersive RPG, quite different from the run of the mill (like PD Saga a few years earlier), and Sega Bass Fishing with a fishing rod controller is like nothing else in video games!
Honestly most of these games need to stay exclusive. Theres emulation for some people, but I feel like there should always be value in booting up a system to play thinga you cant play anywhere else.
There's a lot of Dreamcast Japanese exclusive too! Non-exhaustive list: Aero Dancing i - A great simcade (realistic flight physics and very limited ammunitions) with plenty of aircrafts to chose from. Lots of training missions and operations are available. There's nothing more fun than managing to successfully land your F/A-18 on a carrier! Blue Submarine N°6 - Play as a scavenger in a world where the water level rose to a critical level. Scavenge for valuables, flee from the weird monsters by slaloming through the submerged skyscrapers and upgrade your submarine with the gear you found! Bomber Hehhe! - Place explosives and time them correctly to blow up the designated building without causing damage to the adjacent houses. Cosmic Smash - A very stylish squash game with multiple paths. deSpiria - A weird JRPG by the creators of Hellnight on the PS1. Mix myst-like exploration with classic JRPG battles. I really like the atmosphere of this game.
SLX HAD DONE IT AGAIN!!!! I love this video, Project Justice is one of my favorite fighters, and has a memorable soundtrack too. Speaking of fighters, I would love to see SLX do a video on his top 10 Dreamcast Fighting games.
So true what you said about Project Justice. Capcom really do need to make a Rival Schools 3! One of the few Dreamcast games I will dig out every year or so to play
Great content as usual! Glad to see Red Dog get some love. All the games still actually look pretty decent today. I remember D2's graphics blowing me away back in 2001.
I freaking love your videos. I was a Nintendo kid all the way. Only had a game gear as a kid. Your videos are so entertaining that I will always keep coming back for more. I am so intrigued about sega's past. Thank you for your hard work
Johnny Parrot Joe Tgats because it doesn't suffer the horrible aliasing that PS2 and PS3 do. If it had HDMI output and wifi it could have been released yesterday.
It’s nice to see Sega Rally 2 getting some love. While I can be sensitive to frame rate, it’s never really bothered me in this game. It’s a real shame Sega insisted on using SR2 to demonstrate Windows CE as I’m sure a fully faithful conversion would have been possible without Windows CE dragging performance down. Rippin’ Riders looks good, I’ll have to give it a try. It’s always annoyed me we never got home conversions of Namco’s skiing and snowboarding arcade games.
I didn't know the console failed until I started really digging on the internet. I had more fun playing with DreamCast than on any other system in the 2000's. The only system that could really compete with it for me is the GCN and that isn't even Fair since it's Mario and Zelda.
Sigh, RIP Kenji Ino. I do wonder how much better his games would have been with people with editorial control around him to keep him grounded. Also RIP Shinya Nishigaki who wrote, designed and produced Illbleed. :
Acually Sword of the beserker was one of the 2 games i bought when i first got my Dreamcast. The other was Test Dive Le mans. Man that is still one of the best racing games.
The Sega Dreamcast’s exclusives library is surprisingly deep with some killer games. I have 7 videos of Dreamcast exclusives covering the great and not so great. #segalordx does a fantastic job at showcasing some of these.
Great video! Such a great reminder of how great the Dreamcast was! Have to disagree with your thoughts on D2... that game is amazing. So much atmosphere and John Carpenter-esque vibes (The Thing). Loved the RPG elements thrown into survival horror. Definitely wet my appetite for RE Code Veronica. Happy to see Illbleed covered here too. That game seriously creeped me out back in the day! I also LOVED the story in Sword of the Berserk and I'm sorry you didn't like it so much. Playing that game actually inspired me to check out the anime it's based on and read the Manga.
I will always have a special place in my heart for the Dreamcast. It came out like 2 weeks before my 19th birthday and I remember playing everything I could get my hands on for it. Like a lot of games for the PlayStation that we're still fairly common and affordable from the turn of the millennium to about 05-08. Many good/great/rare Dreamcast games were also still pretty available in that time. But when they disappeared they completely vanished. Anytime I stumble across a Dreamcast game I buy them (unless it's an utterly crappy game or in absolutely unplayable unfixable condition)
Nice video buddy, im gonna download an emulator and try these out, these look like really unique games, something about the style in them seems different. Never played Dreamcast before. Thanks.
Nice list of Dreamcast exclusives. I owned a Sega Dreamcast with a few games years ago, and I'm trying to get one again. Some games that where also good where - Macross M3, Carrier, The Ring and Heavy Metal Geomatrix
I need to finish that game! I still remember getting stuck on a final boss (not sure if it's a side boss). It's a massive worm that burrows under ground, I think! I still have it! I need to finally finish it! lol!
My favorite Sega Dreamcast exclusives, in no particular order: 1. Capcom vs SNK 2. Cannon Spike 3. Project Justice 4. NBA 2K1 5. Spawn: In The Demon's Hand 6. Mortal Kombat Gold (DC Exclusive with additions of Kitana and Mileena) 7. Spec Ops: Omega Squad 8. Out Trigger 9. NHL 2K 10. Metropolis Street Racer

Two games of my collection that I enjoy today are SEGA Bass Fishing and E.G.G. (Elemental Gimmick Gear).
Two vastly underrated games-- E.G.G. was a unique and immersive RPG, quite different from the run of the mill (like PD Saga a few years earlier), and Sega Bass Fishing with a fishing rod controller is like nothing else in video games!
Now that was a good game and its rod was awesome
Your channel is like when I was a kid going to the candy store! Love the channel bro!
Honestly most of these games need to stay exclusive. Theres emulation for some people, but I feel like there should always be value in booting up a system to play thinga you cant play anywhere else.
Exactly
There's a lot of Dreamcast Japanese exclusive too!
Non-exhaustive list:
Aero Dancing i - A great simcade (realistic flight physics and very limited ammunitions) with plenty of aircrafts to chose from.
GREAT to find D2, Illbleed and Berserk in it! ♥
I loved playing Project Justice on the Dreamcast. This game has to be included one the Dreamcast Mini when it comes out hopefully.
ooo this is just the video i need rn, thank you good sir
SLX HAD DONE IT AGAIN!!!! I love this video, Project Justice is one of my favorite fighters, and has a memorable soundtrack too. Speaking of fighters, I would love to see SLX do a video on his top 10 Dreamcast Fighting games.
I really want Sega to comeback to hardware business
Terrific video!! I've got my GDEMU ready to go!
I have both Toy Commander and Rippin Riders. They were two of my favorites as a kid. I'm glad I started my gaming life on the Sega Dreamcast!
So true what you said about Project Justice. Capcom really do need to make a Rival Schools 3! One of the few Dreamcast games I will dig out every year or so to play
D2 is one of the best dreamcast games. The story, characters and music are memorable
This was a great selection of games! Awesome review SegaLX!
Great content as usual! Glad to see Red Dog get some love. All the games still actually look pretty decent today. I remember D2's graphics blowing me away back in 2001.
If you revisit this topic you’ve got to add Tokyo Extreme Racer, Record of Lodoss War and Wild Metal.
WE NEED A DREAMCAST MINI!!!!
I freaking love your videos. I was a Nintendo kid all the way. Only had a game gear as a kid. Your videos are so entertaining that I will always keep coming back for more. I am so intrigued about sega's past. Thank you for your hard work
I still have my Dreamcast. And I think it still looks awesome!
Johnny Parrot Joe Tgats because it doesn't suffer the horrible aliasing that PS2 and PS3 do. If it had HDMI output and wifi it could have been released yesterday.
I always felt that Max Steel showed that the Dreamcast could run PS2-level graphics on an action title.
Would love to see more episodes in this series!
Played a bunch of Sega Rally 2 on PC back in the day, loved it at the time, would definitely recommend it!
I loved Rival Schools and now, after Years, I get to know that there was a Sequel? Awesome.
Simply loved it. Can't wait for episode 2! ;)
D2 is certainly interesting.
Sega could hire M2 again to build a Dreamcast mini, alongside with a Saturn Mini
Dreamcast , a console lived so few years, but wiil be remembered forever
Red Dog: Superior Firepower is an absolute gem of a game. It's the only reason I still have my Dreamcast today.
I really respect you came out with rival schools straight out the gate
Barren Ballsack wonders why he cant have kids =( (Not that he wanted any, it kills the flow of things)
Amazing, I still have this games, passing them was fun, especially D2 in October 2000, that was fun.
Great video. Looking forward to Part 2!
GAME OVER YEAH!!!! Damn, that made me laugh. 🤣😂
First video that I watch from you and I loved it! Already a subscriber. Go on!
OMG Project Justice!! I loved Gedo High! Keep the good nostalgic stuff comin SLX!!
Just found a new in box dreamcast in my basement that I forgot I bought 20 years ago, not sure why I bought a 3rd lol
always happy to see a new video
I have been on a Dreamcast binge as of late ( bought 12 games 2 vmu's and a Japanese Dreamcast. ) So more Dreamcast is always welcome.
The Sega Dreamcast’s exclusives library is surprisingly deep with some killer games. I have 7 videos of Dreamcast exclusives covering the great and not so great. #segalordx does a fantastic job at showcasing some of these.
and we are back
Great video!
“D2” premieres back in 1998 was outstanding.
Mortal Kombat Gold is a timeless classic it's the only game I even play in my Sega dreamcast.
Thanks.
Dreamcast videos are ALWAYS welcome.
Great video. Love the screamcast!
D2 still has a pretty good story despite all its faults. The final boss is amazing too.
Few of these I don't think I ever played, good vid
Another great video!! I remember picking up Project Justice when it came out! It was a budget price of 20 bucks believe it or not!!
Nice list of Dreamcast exclusives. I owned a Sega Dreamcast with a few games years ago, and I'm trying to get one again. Some games that where also good where - Macross M3, Carrier, The Ring and Heavy Metal Geomatrix
Record of Lodoss War is one of my favorite exclusive Dreamcast games although I'm a bit biased as I'm a big fan of the anime/manga series.
I need to finish that game! I still remember getting stuck on a final boss (not sure if it's a side boss). It's a massive worm that burrows under ground, I think!
I still have it! I need to finally finish it! lol!

1. Capcom vs SNK
2. Cannon Spike
