Is it possible to make an 'AOV merge' between ambient occlusion and beauty in order to make a single rendering of both at the same time? If so, how do you do it ?
For a full scene AO render you can just use the custom AOV's in arnold render settings and apply the aiAmbientOcclusion shader... Question: How to render reflective and refractive caustics with arnold, since all lights from maya and arnold aren't emmiting any photons of some kind like in VRay. Is it the only way, that I have to use mesh with an aiStandard shader and emmissions enabled..to get proper caustics.??? (Because when I light my scene with a few lights, I have to doule them with the emitting mesh to get realistic caustics. And that is double the work, and more guesswork and fake) Thanks in advance :-)
Nurb 2Kea thanks for your feedback. Under the Arnold shader advanced setting there should be a caustics check mark. In the settings you may have to adjust your Ray depth as well. I’ll consider making a tutorial on this soon if I get more requests.
By far the best introduction to Ambient Occlusion I've seen, and I've been looking for a LONG time. Thank you!
