AMAZING VIDEO on explaining the hooking up of an Blu-ray Player to an HDTV through an AV receiver, GREAT JOB explaining everything, thank you so very much and please stay healthy and safe out there!
I currently have my 4k player set up on method 2 via toss link cable into an older bluray home thetere system but I can't seem to get true 5.1 only 2.1 in all 5 speakers so no proper surround sound, what am I doing wrong tia
Good, but it would help to go the extra mile (or rather the extra few steps) of getting a second HDMI cable to explain the first method. I was confused at 2:13 there was only one HDMI cord involved when you just mentioned you need two of them, and nothing connected to the tv. Had to rewatch 2-3 times to get it, but eventually did get it
Ok I connected my HDMI wire in back of my DVD input on my AV yamaha receiver and other HDMI to my DVD player. How can I see the picture from my DVD player on my TV? Do I have to connect the the RCA wires?
So you should have one HDMI ultra high speed 2.0 from Blu-ray DVD player to you 4K UHD TV(to get better picture) and optical cable (to get better sound) from Blu-ray DVD player to your AVT ?
The LG UBK90 has two HDMI outputs; audio and video. How should I be plugging that into my AVR receiver if I want the video cable plugged directly into the television?
And what should I do if the TV and Blu-ray player are 4K Ultra HD, but the receiver is old and does not support 4K? To avoid losing 4K quality, is the only option to use an optical cable? Thank you!!
I've got a somewhat unique connection task. I have a DVD/VHS (yes, VHS) combo without an hdmi port and I'm trying to connect it to a new Denon receiver with surround sound. I'm using the red-yellow-white rca cables to connect the two via the video/audio in/out ports. Now I've got the audio coming through, but no video. Any suggestions?
So with my 4K player I have ark HDMI from receiver to the tv , and I tried to hook the DVD to the receiver I was getting audio but no picture ? I thought the ark connection would give the visual I assuming a need a 2nd HDMI cable from the DVD to the TV?
I am in the process of buying a receiver and projector. I have 2 question. Inputs appreciated. 1. Best way to connect blu ray to receiver and projector for audio and video respectively 2. Best way to connect chromecast to receiver and projector for audio and video respectively
Plug both blu-ray player and chromecast into your AVR, then using a High Speed HDMI cable, plug one end into the HDMI Out of your AVR, and plug the other end into the HDMI in on your projector.
So you plug a hi speed HDMI cable from the 4kUHD disc player into an HDMI IN on the back of the receiver, and connect a 2nd HDMI cable from the receiver to an HDMI IN port on the TV. I have done that and gotten “no signal” on the tv screen. Oddly, once or twice while I was hooking it up, the screen lit up with the “SONY” logo, but just for a second, then went back to “no signal”. So something is *trying* to work... Questions: Must my receiver have dedicated “4kUHD HDMI” As my hdmi ports on my receiver don’t state that (Pioneer VSX-521). It was slightly before 4K was everywhere). 2. My Sony UBP-X700 player doesn’t have optical, but it does have coax (RCA) audio out, and the receiver has an RCA audio in. If I connect the HDMI directly into the TV, then connect the digital coax audio out to the receiver, would that work for enabling surround sound (in synch so audio & video match)? OR should I get a new receiver w/Hi-Speed 4k UHD jacks? Thanks to anyone that can help! I’m going crazy!
That AVR is 10 years old, so it cannot pass through a 4K video signal. Plug the 4K Blu-ray player directly into your 4K TV, and use HDMI ARC for audio. Or buy a new AVR.
I have a question concerning my connections. I just purchased a LG c9 tv. I also purchased a Panasonic thatruns all dvds from Blu-ray to 4 k. I run it through my 9 year old Arcam AVR 360 amp. I hdmi cable from my cable box , 1 cable from my DVD player to my amp then 1 cable to my tv. I’ve been running it this way on my previous Pioneer Elite tv for years with no problem. The problem I’m having is my Blu-ray Discs I’ve tryed playing have sound but no video. And my regular dvds work perfectly. I ant figure out what I’m doing wrong any suggestions
Your old AVR cannot pass through the 4K Video signal to your TV. It passes through the DVD video just fine because that is what the old receiver was designed for. Just connect High Speed HDMI cable from your 4K Blu-ray Player to to your 4K TV, and connect an HDMI cable from the HDMI ARC on the TV to HDMI ARC on your old receiver if it has one. But it should have one. My ten year old Yamaha has an HDMI ARC.. Or buying a new AVR will take care of the problem also if you have 600 dollars or more to spend.
Do I need an AVR to watch 4K DVDs on my 4K ultra HD flatscreen? I've had a 4k dvd player and 4k flatscreen for a year and never have known how to do it. HELP!
We can not think of a situation whereby you’d need an AVR, directly connecting the 4K DVD player to the 4K ultra HD flatscreen will permit you to view DVDs

You should mention that the Toslink is a maximum of 5.1 in most cases.
