I can’t thank you enough for this video. I’ve been trying for 2 hours to hook up my direct tv and Apple TV through my receiver. I finally found your video and got it working instantly. You made me jump for joy! Thanks again for posting this, you helped more than you know!!
I'm not new to the channel, but I AM new to the Channa. 😄Anyway, I came here to find out (having linked my oled TV to my X3800H (in UK) ), how to also connect my amp to my projector? Do I use output 1, 2 or 3? and if so, how do I configure them all? I've had a picture come out, but two different HDMI's all work at the same time! Is there no way of either just watching TV or Projector? Many thanks for your help and hope your new setup is going well!
I would thank you for showing different brands of receivers. I just bought a Onkyo 9.2 TX NR-797 receiver. I have it set-up 5.1. My question, is it good to put USB cable to ARC receiver to ARC TV?
Question: Does the USB C on a Chromebook, output digital audio, or is it still using its internal DAC to output an analog signal in the same way the headphone jack works?
Thank you for this. Would there be a sound delay (latency between the audio and video signal) if you connected via pre-outs an integrated amplifier with the speakers connected to that unit instead of the AV receiver?
Been digging into the web and quite a few of your videos. I'm curious why run your video into the receiver. Why not just go straight to the TV for video and from the TV to the receiver for just audio. Hit me up I've run it both ways I find it easier to control my devices though my TV instead of my receiver. Currently running a onkyo TX nr838. And a 7.1 system with klipsch speakers many of them are the same models you have run. Thank you
My question is can you plug in a PC with the video card HDMI output to the AVR... will it work ? Currently I have an old Denon with only 2 HDMI inputs but I can't have any sound out of the regular HDMI I use the digital out which is good but not as good as the HDMI I am told. Would a newer AVR like the Denon 3700H give me HDMI sound from my PC?
Hello, I didn't see an answer to my question (which a google search is how I ended up on your website). My pc is hooked up to my tv and stereo receiver. My pc only has 1 hdmi outlet. However, I want to play music on my pc through my receiver. My receiver is old, but sort of works for me. The antenna doesn't pick up many stations, which is why I want to stream my radio and music from my pc to my stereo without having my tv on. My receiver is Sony HT-DDW900. The only way I can listen to music from the pc to the stereo is putting on the tv, which seems so unnecessary. Is this even possible? I wondered about a hdmi splitter, but not sure if that would work? And if so, would I need a special splitter? Thanks!
Thanks for all your videos & help bro. I’ve always had a AV setup since ‘89. I stepped off for a good while until my plasma finally died a month ago :) I now have a 70” LG LED & my wife & I are loving it. To compliment it I’ve stuck to my love of most things Sony. Just got a STR DN1080 & UBP X800 combo. Also got some basic ONKYO SKH-410 Atmos speakers. I’m also upgrading my Cable package to SKY Q (I’m in the UK). Next is a Mac Mini & Apple TV 4K. Legacy gear for the stack with be a Yamaha Cassette Deck, A good Sony VCR with a Scart > HMDI adapter & an Nintendo Wii. All topped off with a Techniqes 1210 MKII Turntable with a Behringer Phono Pre Amp. I’ve got a 4 into 1 Analogue source switcher which I’ll be using. & to finish it off with be a Logitech Harmony Elite remote. My 5.1 Speakers are my faith full Mordant Shorts I’ve been using for 18 years or so. & all this cause my TV finally died :) It’s been fun catching up to the new standards & loving the experience. Like you I am also a musician. I recognised you Native Instruments Maschine a few vids ago. Anyways, again thank you for you high quality videos. They’ve been a constant source of education. Especially you & Majestechs. Please keep it coming bro 👍🏾
Hi Techno Dad, I have a question and maybe you can help me, I just bought an old Yamaha Receiver RX-V863, the receiver it convert up to 1080P with HDMI, It's a 2008 Receiver with Dolby Master audio, and I have a New TV LG 65UN 8500 with Dolby Vision and Atmos. Question what will be best way to connect Tv to Receiver with optical? Cause HDMI from receiver it's too old and dosen't support 4K? I just care about the music and surround sound. Thank you.
Quick question. I've had a home theater 5.1 surround set up in my bedroom for years. I'm making the transition to Dolby Atmos. When setting up my connections to my new AV Denon receiver, how do I connect my TV to the receiver so I can hear the Atmos playback from my TV streaming apps?
Hi Techo Dad, I'm Z from Boston MA, new to this AVR world. Can you kindly please help out ? since Denon support said it's outside of their scope. I have Denon AVR 6500H, Apple TV4k, and Yamaha MG06X Mixer connecting Shure BLX88 with dual Mic PG58 connected to Sony TV 85" Bravia. I can stream any RUclips video to AppleTV 4k to all my 11 speakers that output of my Denon, but I can't get the karaoke to work. I have tried changing input select : HDMI, and Analog. Media Player (renamed to AppleTV4k ) When I select HDMI - AppleTV4K sound output to 11 speakers. When I select Analog - mic sound output to 11 speakers. How would one send sound from mics together with the any RUclips video from my Apple TV 4k to all my 11 speakers at the same time ?
I have a LG LHD Home theatre (5.1) system and i was trying to connect my laptop (Dell 3558 ) to the 5.1 system via HDMi cable. I have an HDMI OUT in my home theatre and trying to connect my laptop to the HT, sound is not coming out thru HT, in fact the the HDMI device is not showing in the laptop itself. Can you please help me out?
Great video. One question...do you need to have your tv on in order to play sound through other inputs (ps4, xbox..)? If you use them as cd players for example
@@TechnoDadThank you for the reply! Really appreciate it. So, even though everything is connected through hdmi into the av reciver, and the reciever goes to the tv via hdmi arc, I won't need to turn on the tv?
Hi. I’ve purchased a new lg OLED tv. All my regular dvds play with sound and picture. But when I put my Blu-ray dvds in all I get is sound with no video. My DVD player is new and is suppose to play all dvds through 4K content. Can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. By the way I’m going through my Arcam avr360 amplifier it’s about 9 years old. 1 hdmi from my cable box to my amp, 1 hdmi cable from my dive player to amp and 1 cable from my amp to my tv. It’s the same set up I’ve used for years to my pioneer elite plasma tv and it’s worked great. Why won’t my new tv recognize the Blu-ray video from my DVD player. Any suggestions. 🙏
@@TechnoDad so if I connect everything like this and the earc HDMI to my projector that has no arc or earc just a simple HDMI input will I still get Dolby Atmos sound from the sources like the Apple TV 4k?
I have connected my av recerver x2700h to my tv with hdmi cable, I have not connected speakers , bot no sound on my tv. is not possible to get sound using hdmi cable ? please help me.
Hi, it's been awhile. I have a Yamaha 583 receiver connected with apple tv 4k. I might buy sony 8000h TV, which is Dolby vision and Atmos compatible. Since, I have budget receiver, would I get Dolby vision and Atmos on the tv or not. To which HDMI port on tv, should I connect the AVR output, ARC or any other HDMI port of the tv. Are all the HDMI port on the Yamaha 583 receiver, 4k compatible, if not which ports are. I am still a noob, in the A/V department, so please help me. Thanks
Hey techno dad I have a Hisense h9 f it doesn't use component audio for out only in same problem for optical audio. I have a Vizio sound bar that only has optical audio add component audio Jack's. Hisense recommends using an HDMI cable for their H9F. My Vizio sound bar does not have an area to connect an HDMI cable I don't see why I should replace the sound bar when it has such good sound. Can you recommend an adapter
That's a great video, I learned a lot of that through trial and error, it was a pain. I do have a big problem now, though and Im' really lost. Do you think you could help me? Here's the issue: I have movies on my PC that I wanna watch on HDR 4k, while still having HD audio as well. My receiver is an old one, (DENON 3310Ci, so no HDR nor 4k), hence the "HDMI out" cable is a no go, since I wouldn't even get 4k. What I do then? I connect a HDMI a GPU from my GPU's HDMI 1 port to my HDR 4k TV, and another HDMI cable from my GPU's HDMI 2 port to my receiver, using a video player configured to send pass-through audio via HDMI. However, suddenly that stopped working. When I replaced an older TV with this new one, it still worked, but for some reason I had to disconnect the "HDMI out" cable from my receiver to be able to get any audio at all. Now I cant't even do that anymore, because if I disconnect the "HDMI out" cable, my PC stops recognizing the receiver (even though the "HDMI in" is connected to it). And once my PC doesn't recognize the receiver, I obviously can't set the receiver as an audio source. Any thoughts that could help me? I'm pretty frustrated rn.
Hello from Italy I have a question: I would like to see and listen to Netflix and Amazon Prime Video with TV fire stick and my projector using my Marantz SR6013. Hi Techno Dad, I’m buying the Denon X4700H and the LG CX soon. My worry, is that if I connect my 2.1 HDMI to the TV I lose DTS, because the new LG doesn’t support it. But if I connect to the 2.1 HDMI on the AVR, I lose GSync because I’m not connected to the tv directly. So, if I connect my 2.1 HDMI to the tv to get GSync, is there anyway to connect my graphics card then to the AVR with full quality too? I hope you can help buddy?
What do you do when your surround sound work with everything, but streaming? I have a smart TV that only puts off TV volume when I watch Netflix, Hulu, etc. Surround available with everything else.
Nice video , i have a problem with my setup , if anyone could give me a hand it would be great , i have a pc conected via hdmi to my yamaha and then from the receiver to a tv via hdmi. So i send audio and video to my receiver from my pc. The problem is that with this i always need to turn on my receiver to use my pc , (which i dont want to ) , is there a solution for this ? i saw some splitters but i dont want to compromise video quality or sound. Any options?
Thank you for this video. I have a doubt . I am using a lg cinebeam projector which supports Hard disk , but while connecting the HDMI out of the projector to HDMI in of AV reciever , there is no sound coming. Is there any settings issue. Pls help
Hello techno dad could you please help me out with that? So I have a new samsung tv (2017) and now I've got the old receiver from my dad (1990) without HDMI and I want to connect the receiver to the tv but I don't know how to do that.
Hey Dad, I'm back. So my Cable TV box and Blue Ray Player are connected directly to my Onkyo TX 545 and the HDMI ARC "OUT" is connected to the HMDI ARC "IN" on my LG Smart TV. It is working but the Aspect Ratio is messed up. So, the picture is liked zoomed in and when I bring up my Channel Guide for the Cable TV or the Menu Settings, a good potion of the guide and menu screen is not visible (off the screen). I went into my TV settings and my Aspect Ratio is 16:9 as it should be. However, when I bring up my Menu for the Cable Box settings, the menu selections are off the screen (not visible). I can't see what menu item to even chose from. I can't figure out how to get at my Onkyo menu to see what they are set to. I don't know if the Onkyo even has Aspect Ratio settings? When I change the Aspect Ratio in the TV settings to another setting (4:3 or Original), it reduces the size of the "picture" black bars on the right and left, but the guide and menu are still not visible (off the screen). Secondly, can I get my Cable Remote to control the Blue Ray Player and the Onkyo receiver, including the Menu? What are your thoughts on this ??
I have a Samsung 65" smart TV and a Denon AVR-S920W. I also have a Suddenlink cable box. Audio and video are great BUT when I use Netflix on the TV itself, I get no audio. Any suggestion?
Can I email you? I have questions that I am not able to find answers to online regarding a 5.1 setup with wired ceiling speakers and adding a Sonos arc. I need clarification. How can I send a message or email?
Hey Techno. I was told that source components should be connected directly to the HDMI ports on the TV rather than a pass through HDMI port on a Dolby Atmos receiver. Is this true? Yamaha specifically told me this when I contacted support. He said the receiver is a middle man and I would encounter issues or performance issues.
Hi! Think of the AVR as an HDMI coupler and not a repeater. Meaning, it won't amplify the signal, just pass it along. What does this mean? If you run a 6 foot HDMI from your source to the AVR, and then another 6 foot HDMI from your AVR to the TV, you are actually using a 12 foot HDMI cable. So if you are experiencing issues, then try shorter HDMI cables, or more expensive optical HDMI cables.
I have a 7.2.2 home theater with Apple TV 4K a Denon avr-x6400h and a Samsung 82” 900r tv. I changed the Denon with the new avr-x6700h. After a perfect setup and a 1 hour shutdown the new Denon would not make the handshake to the Samsung tv. All cables are new Belkin ultra high speed cables rated at 48 gs. After hours on the phone with everyone. It seemed to be Samsung tv is the problem. I spent another 2 hours on the phone, the tech told me the Samsung was not designed to work with a av receiver. What the blank-blank. Any ideas?
What if I want/need the option to also connect it to my Projector? The OUT / ARC hdmi on the receiver goes to the TV... do I need a receiver with two OUT ports or insert some sort of splitter to get one OUT TO TV and another OUT TO PROJECTOR?
Hi great channel, I have an unusual experience and question, I’m trying to connect two cd players via toslink inputs on Yamaha RXV683 receiver but I have noticed that input 1 sounds very open and resolving vs input 2 is dull and muddy sounding and yes I have changed the cables and cd players and regardless of cable and player input 1 sounds better than the input 2 do you have any suggestions please thanks for the great channel
Hey bro , can’t get blutooth from my epson 3800 projector and Panasonic dp ub 420 although it reads connected to jbl headphone. Check volume etc.. please help, goota b the Panasonic player setting.
I'm having an issue with my reciever. It's not the same model as this, it's a bit older, but pretty much I have an HDMI running from my PS4 to the reciever and another HDMI from the reciever to the tv and that's it. I have video output but no audio output unless I run an optical cable from my tv to the reciever but it just seems unnecessary and I feel that the HDMI cable should obviously be able to play audio. Any suggestions?
Ur explanation is good & clear,, Thankuuu... I have a doubt. I have a projector with hdmi slot without hdcp, but I have a Denon AV reciver with hdmi hdcp 2.2 4k passthrough connectivity. Can I play 4k hdcp 2.2 video with this setup..?
Hi Techno Dad; I'm looking for an explanation: is it possible to connect the audio of a TV Samsung series 9 via its One Connect port 3 HDMI, to an AV/ Receiver Onkyo TX-NR905, or another alternative. thanks in advance
Hey Channa ! Quick question;) Two actually please. I have a 4K Fire tv stick. Would I connect that to my receiver or TV? And 2nd, what would I connect into my 4K DHMI HDCP 2.3? What does the HDCP 2.3 input in do, why would I use it?
This is what I did but if I play anything from the my actual smart tv and not one of these devices, the sound only comes out the tv and not surround sound. I would have to add a hdmi out from the tv to the receiver correct?
Having a problem. I was watching a recorded program last night and the TV froze and all I could hear was bits of sound from my receiver as if it was trying to sync back up. This went on for a while. I turned everything off and turn it back on. Got the same thing. I have a basic Sony TV. A basic receiver and a DVR. I also have U-verse. As far as I know the TV is set to DVR 1 And the receiver, five channel, is set to HDMI 2. Every once in a while the TV will switch to HDMI 2 which I think is a poltergeist. Once I flip the TV around and reset it back to HDMI 1, all is good. So I don’t know whether my receiver is shot, I need to try installing new HDMI cables, or what. I’ve tried everything I know of but not techno savy. Help!,,,greg
Is there any compulsion to Monitor having a HDMI(ARC) to connect with denon av? Because i have projector and that projector have only HDMI port so can i use with that projector? Pls answer me
I have a question please! So I am getting a new avr with hdmi like you have (marantz nr1510) and I want to plug cable tv and ps4 to it in the back. So that should all work fine, but I use my samsung tv as smart tv for netflix and prime video. Will I be able to watch netflix and prime from the tv asnd have sound on the marantz?
Yeah, you have to setup ARC/eARC on the Samsung TV and on the Marantz. Here’s an eARC setup on the Samsung QN90A - ruclips.net/video/5S9fO8ZKwTs/видео.html - here’s a video that has Marantz eARC setup - ruclips.net/video/Ik6Aco1w07g/видео.html
Question? When I power up my receiver with my cable box remote it use to go to the cable box input on the receiver. Now when I power up the receiver it goes to the nvidia box input on the receiver. How or if you can select which input the receiver goes to when you turn on the tv/receiver with the cable box remote. If unplug my nvidia shield box it defaults back to the cable box input on startup which is what I prefer but what happened. I’m wondering if the nvidia update affected this.
So how do you connect the actual amplifier to Yvonne everything has been set up? Also how to make it work as mine is connected but no sound through tv nor the speakers
Very useful video, just what i needed! Thanks I assume your tv remote i.e my samsung tv remote is not used much after this as all things are done through the Receiver remote Is it easy to switch between surround sound and tv stereo if i didnt want to use the surround sound for any reason?
So what about if I have an older Yamaha receiver for surround sound that only has RCA cable inputs but I want to get a new TV. None of them have RCA outs for audio any more
Hello Techno Dad, i have a question about this system. Let's say that i have the same system you have hooked on the video. My question is what about if i want to instead of watching in one tv, multiply the same image in a second or third tv. By this i mean that since the audio is already running through the AVReceiver and system speakers, right, i just want to display the same image on screen 2, 3 or 4. How would you do it?
Quick question. I got a Denon 2800 surround receiver. It has all A/V cable hook up & 3 optical. Blu Ray player only has hdmi. How do I get this to work?
I have 2 tv's(samsung/Vizio) & a epson projector connected to an AVRX4300H. I HAD the TVs set so I could game and watch TV simultaneously & the projector could display only what was on the vizio. Im using a 4K splitter to make this work. I unplugged receiver cause a hdmi died but I cant get my system the way I had it before. Either i can have all 3 devices showing same thing or TVs showing separate channels like I want but projector will show samsung imag(cable). Help my brain hurts!
Thanks for the video. Question: My A/V Reciever is not an all powerful controller like yours and I do not have a huge theater set-up. I have a DVD/BR player that has pretty poor apps, remote and other functions and I would prefer to use my TV as the central control "portal" for control, apps and other general function and have the DVD/BR player as a "drone" that the system looks to for media input only not system control. It is my understanding that HDMI can pass data all around the system so this can work but (ACTUAL QUESTION) is it the best way. In your video, you talk about using the Denon A/V Reciever as the central controller for everything but mine doesn't do that. It switches all the inputs/outputs and sends out good audio etc. but that's about it. What do you think about making the TV the primary user interface vs the DVD/BR conroller? Im concerned about over complicating the system which frequently leads to kids/wife getting "lost" and then calling/texting me because they cant get a movie to play etc. Another advantage I think I see is that I can use a more sophisticated remote (built-in QWERTY keyboard) which will do wonders in lengthening my life while typing in search criteria on Netflix/Amazon/RUclips etc. Thanks for your time.
Great Video. On my Panasonic dmp-ub900 4k player the manual says if I use the both hdmi out (audio & audio/video) of the player the Audio is output in High Resolution. Would ut be more beneficial to use both hdmi outs or the same? I also have a Denon 7.2 AV receiver. Thanks for your help.
I am buying a new DENON AVR, Can I connect my Windows10 Laptop (Dell Inc. G7 7588) with Denon-x3600 OR Denon-x4500h AVR. As most of my 4K Videos, movies, etc are on my laptop. Please help me......
I have a Denon receiver. My roku it's connected to one of the "assignable" HDMI's and it's streaming normally to the tV, Audio is coming through the surround sound of the house. My question is, how can I get audio through the TV also?
Question for you, have you tried testing multi-zone HDMI outs to multiple TVs? I want to be able to play my 4K set top box on a second tv (I call it my sports TV) while I potentially have the ability to play my XBOX ONE X on the main TV with my full klipsch speaker system. Great video, thanks for sharing. Is it possible to have a non-HDMI audio-input "always on"? For example, the AVR is usually set to output HDMI1 (could be an XBOX), and on occasion I will want to play music from a line-in. But I don't want to have to toggle the input, it should just play the music automatically, even if the XBox is still on. Is this possible? Possible to mix inputs? Thanks for your help.
Hi John! What you're speaking of was done back in the day before HDMI. It was called 'Video Select' where you can mix a video source with a second audio source. I used to do this all the time back in high school and college. I wanted to play a video game but I wanted to hear audio from CDs. This feature has gone away as HDMI inputs cannot split signals like you can with analog signals.
Do you agree that even with new TV's like the Samsung Q9FN that come with the OneConnect box, that all inputs should go into the receiver first, with the only output going to the ARC hdmi connection on the smart TV? A lot of TV reviews are talking about how great the OneConnect box is, but it's almost pointless if you have a receiver...
Hi! Yes, totally agree. You won't need more than one HDMI input on your TV if you're using an AVR. So the one connect box is a non-issue for people with a sound system.
Techno Dad great to see some input on this. So you connect all your input to the AVR, from AVR arc to oneConnect arc and then use the one connect cable to the Q9F? What About the tv itself being the input? Like Netflix for example? Love these video’s btw, just stepping in to the whole AVR setup coming from the basic ‘all in one’ systems :)
How do you use hdmi arc please? I have everything connected correctly but I have still problems with TV sounds like if I turn on amazon prime video, Netflix or RUclips through the TV there is not sound through the av reciever. I have Onkyo TX-NR686 and Samsung Q7f . Thanks
@@martinsmida8188 I think you need to Google your question. Samsung and Onkyo have support. Your tv does have ARC, so make sure it's turned on in the receiver's settings. HDMI setup section?
Mark Baillie Thanks for your help but I tried everything. Sometimes it’s working sometimes not. Onkyo have this problem but have best bass from all of the Reciever which I tried.
Techno Dad, I have a another question? After, I put the HDMI cables into the back of the reciever! The one that marked arc 2.2 for the T.V.! Which HDMI input do it put it into? The unit I have is the Onkyo HT-S7700 5.1.2-Ch Dolby Atmos Ready Network A/V Receiver/Speaker
I have the Denon X4400H(amzn.to/2MEDk5Z) in for review. Brand new it's $1,399, but there is a certified refurbished one for $999: amzn.to/2K6UXwK . Also check out Onkyo's TX-NR787 (amzn.to/2tnzPI6)
Hi! I don't think a projector would need ARC. We have ARC to send the audio from the TV to the AVR because of the streaming apps on the TV. Projectors don't have streaming apps (at least, I don't think they do) so there would be no need for ARC on a projector.
BROTHER, I AM FACING AN ISSUE WHICH NOBODY IS ABLE TO TRACK. PLEASE HELP ME RESOLVING IT. My TV is bravia Sony 4k and av is onkyo tx nr 676 and playing with Apple TV 4k. When I play something hd with no Dolby Atmos or vision, it is fine but when I play something like the Transformers The last Knight, suddenly on the top of my TV appears HDMI/ARC Stereo 3420*2196. It it doesn't disappear. Because of this 25% of the display stay occupied. A lot of People tried but no one could resolve it. I believe you are the only hope. Now I give you some description about connections I did to get Dolby Atmos. I connected ultra premium hi speed belkin hdmi cable between Apple TV and onkyo amplifier. And from amplifier I connected via HDMI ARC ON ONKYO AND HDMI ARC ON TV. But the HDMI ARC cable i used between TV and onkyo is around 4 years old belkin hdmi cable. Is cable the main problem as TV support HDR but Apple TV box is having hard time to set it to HDR. NEED YOUR REPLY SOON BROTHER. Regards/Farook
Hi Farook!! Yes, you’ll need to change out the older HDMI cable from AVR to TV to a newer cable that supports 4K HDR 4:4:4. You don’t need to spend too much money, $12 should do it! Try one of these: amzn.to/2QCi3LW
Toby Harkins,Thanks Man!!!!!! I appreciate the shout out! And the video helped me out alot! If I have any problem with anything else? I will definitely get back with you!
I’m trying to connect my theater room projector to the Reciever (Denon AVR-S760H) . So let me add I am using a fire stick (HDMI 1)on the projector currently. So the projector has 2 HDMI and a audio jack that is for aux and one for head phones (yes that little round hole for headphones) the room has 4 wired speakers in the ceiling one on the right wall one on the left. A Sonos beam under the projector and I am getting a sub woofer soon. Do I connect the fire stick to reciever? Anyone ever done this?

I can’t thank you enough for this video. I’ve been trying for 2 hours to hook up my direct tv and Apple TV through my receiver. I finally found your video and got it working instantly. You made me jump for joy! Thanks again for posting this, you helped more than you know!!
You’re very welcome! I’m glad you found the video.
Great video. One question...do you need to have your tv on in order to play sound through other inputs (ps4, xbox..)? If you use them as cd players for example
Hi!! Great question. No, you don’t need the TV on.

Here's the issue:
I have movies on my PC that I wanna watch on HDR 4k, while still having HD audio as well.

Hi Techno Dad,
I’m buying the Denon X4700H and the LG CX soon.
I hope you can help buddy?
this might sound like dumb question but will my hdmi play all proper in 4k receiver or does it only support 4k devices?
What do you do when your surround sound work with everything, but streaming? I have a smart TV that only puts off TV volume when I watch Netflix, Hulu, etc. Surround available with everything else.
I use a optical cable from the tv to the receiver for streaming.

Hey Channa ! Quick question;) Two actually please. I have a 4K Fire tv stick. Would I connect that to my receiver or TV? And 2nd, what would I connect into my 4K DHMI HDCP 2.3? What does the HDCP 2.3 input in do, why would I use it?
Hi! I would go with the 4K FireStick into the AVR.
This is what I did but if I play anything from the my actual smart tv and not one of these devices, the sound only comes out the tv and not surround sound. I would have to add a hdmi out from the tv to the receiver correct?
Yes, and you would have to turn on ARC on both the TV and sound system.

You could try an HDMI splitter. My AVR has two hdmi outs so you can have more than one display connected

Hi! Are you using two High-Speed HDMI cables? You'll need to have one from the 4K player to the AVR and another from the AVR to the TV.
@@TechnoDad aha! One for the future maybe. Thank you, so much to learn. Thanks again for your video, you really advanced my learning
I always thought it didn't matter what kind of hdmi cable you use. Aren't they all the same?
How do you hook up your Panasonic to your receiver
@techno dad, do you have a video showing how to setup a a/v receiver with a samsung tv? My samsung q7f tv has that one connect box.
How do you use hdmi arc please? I have everything connected correctly but I have still problems with TV sounds like if I turn on amazon prime video, Netflix or RUclips through the TV there is not sound through the av reciever. I have Onkyo TX-NR686 and Samsung Q7f . Thanks
Your TV may not support ARC.
If so, turn it off in the Onkyo's settings.

Hi
I have Samsung Q7F
@@martinsmida8188 I think you need to Google your question. Samsung and Onkyo have support. Your tv does have ARC, so make sure it's turned on in the receiver's settings. HDMI setup section?
Mark Baillie
Thanks for your help but I tried everything. Sometimes it’s working sometimes not. Onkyo have this problem but have best bass from all of the Reciever which I tried.
Where would you connect your Dish Satalite to your reciever. what hdmi input.
Almost any one would do.
@@TechnoDad Thanks, im old school.
Hi Toby! The same cable needs to be plugged into the ARC port on your AVR and on your TV.
Techno Dad Thank you very much
Anytime Toby!
techno Dad from Atmos 9 Channel av receivers which do you think is the best ?
I have the Denon X4400H(amzn.to/2MEDk5Z) in for review. Brand new it's $1,399, but there is a certified refurbished one for $999: amzn.to/2K6UXwK . Also check out Onkyo's TX-NR787 (amzn.to/2tnzPI6)
what about Yamaha 2070? yes i would definately buy a refurbished one because in Europe prices are too high..
Go for it!
Great it’s just what I needed!!!
Thank you so much for this video 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 this makes so much more sense now
No problem!!
So I have 10.2 gbps is that adequate? The cable says 4K.
Says I’m only getting 1080p.
What about movie projector without ARC, how do you get sound to the receiver?
Hi! I don't think a projector would need ARC. We have ARC to send the audio from the TV to the AVR because of the streaming apps on the TV. Projectors don't have streaming apps (at least, I don't think they do) so there would be no need for ARC on a projector.
Right. So how do you hook up a surround sound system with a projector with the AV receiver.
The HDMI out from the AVR would go to the projector.
thanks, which sound board you use?
Sound board?
My problem is my receiver was made prior to HDMI. I’m assuming a need a new receiver?
Same issue for me. Did you ever find a solution? Thanks.
I have a KENWOOD receiver but I’ve lost it’s remonte control , I am having a hard time to connect it to sharp tv , could you help me
How can I watch TV without turning on my receiver.Everything is hooked up to the HDMI port of my onkyo and TV works only when the receiver is on.
Efren Saclolo can you plug the hdmi into the tv and run optical from the tv to the receiver
You are welcome Toby!! If you have any more questions, I'd be happy to help!

@@TechnoDad is it better to use both hdmis coming out of my 4k player? One to tv and one to avr? Is that better quality?
How can I use my Roku streaming stick with my Onkyo AV Receiver? I want to watch streaming movies and show in 5.1.
Im not using The ARC from my denon 5.2, Just plugged one optcal cable from denon to my 4K TV and other to my ps4. Is everything wrong? Its working so far, but now, i want to plug my computer in and i don t have more optcal slots, what should i do? Im New in all this. And is rly Hard to even try to do a research online about something like this. RESUME: i want all 3 with áudio and image, what should i do?

Hi! Yeah, that can be a bit of a problem. What are you using to connect your PS4 to the Denon? One HDMI is all you need.
@@TechnoDad im using a optcal cable for sound and hdmi on TV. If i use only a hdmi, Will ps4 4k image work? My PC is on hdmi, (i was using for sound) and my vga find 1080p res only. How i change to 4K? (no option on PC)
