    Took a few minutes to get to what I needed, the actual programming. I was doing everything according to my instructions, but my instructions failed to mention to hold the SET key down for a few seconds at the end to hold the values. Thanks for the walk through.

    I have one of these for my two gallon pico reef - warming plug hooked up to a tiny 8 watt always-on heater, and the cooling plug hooked up to a little fan. Works great, and actually reduced the amount of equipment I have in the tank, because heaters with in-built thermostats are bulky, even the smallest ones.

    • @samalsaigh963
      @samalsaigh963 4 года назад

      Where did you get the always-on heater? I'm using this same thermostat and I've been looking for an aquarium heater that doesn't have any controls on it.

    Fantastic review and tutorial, I had never thought about a controller before, but now I think they are well worth it for the alarm feature in particular. Thanks for a great video :)

      Colin Barsby thank you! I never had these in place until in dabbled into the salt water side. I originally got it to connect a fan to the tank for cooling

    Hi, I have a cold water marine tank in an unheated outbuilding and I need to keep the temperature from dropping below 14 degrees C
    in the winter is this within the capabilities of the device if i run a heater unit?

    Damn I just bought a second one with a metal probe. I had another one with a metal probe in the sump for over almost two years, no sign of rust. Was there a proof that is not aquarium safe? Also my skimmer has “titanium” screws and so does my ground probe.

    • @prolificbreedaquatics
      @prolificbreedaquatics  4 года назад +1

      Titanium is fine. The probe I think is fine too. I have one with metal and I don’t see rust. Been up for two years

    • @prolificbreedaquatics

      Not sure with 306. I use the 308 for heating and cooling. Cooling is connected to a fan

    Dont use a temp gun to figure out aquarium temps, it has emissivity variances that you likely won't get accurate temp values, use a trusted thermometer instead

    How loud is that skimmer? I've bought a basically silent return pump and gyre pumps and as soon as i hooked up the red sea 300 rsk skimmer it ruined the entire atmosphere. It went from 32 decibels from inside the cabinet to 56 decibels. And dead see dont give a shit about it so im gonna have to sell the skimmer or just throw it away cos its really loud and i can't be asked to deal with people sending it back

    • @prolificbreedaquatics
      @prolificbreedaquatics  4 года назад +1

      I don’t really notice it. My skimmer is also on a timer for middle of the day only. Usually not home when it’s working

  • @patpaluch9842
    @patpaluch9842 4 года назад +1

    I just got it and it is so annoying that in Celsius the temperature control is much more precise. You can adjust by 0.1C and when you switch to Fahrenheit it only goes by full 1F. Why did they design it like that is beyond me. That means I will always have 2F degree swing in tank temperature. Kind of disappointing

  • @hmtnhk

    How do yo set the cooling green light on?

    • @prolificbreedaquatics
      @prolificbreedaquatics  4 года назад

      fentanev with in the settings for cooling. If the actual temp goes over your desired temp the cooling will kick in
