As an alcoholic (though in recovery and currently 3 years and 2:months clean & sober) I don't take any offence from this sketch. I'd watch these fellas during my teen years and find them funnier now than back then. Comedy like this is what the World needs.
Watching proper comedy like this in your teens is why your not offended. You have grown up having a laugh. The offended of today didn’t grow with proper comedy so take offence when they hear it
@Male666chauvinist never said I was AA (too religious & regimental) and didn't say I wasn't an addict. I know what I am, I know the fight I'm fighting and I feel the pride from bettering my addiction everyday. Today, I'm 4:years, 1 month and 17 days sober and clean of my addiction. Only another addict would understand and only a recovering addict can correct another addict.
I had my last drink in 1982. This is the first time I've seen this sketch. There are no prizes for guessing where I probably was on the evening it first aired. The brown paper bag over the head is only for the first year though. Then you graduate to a simple masks which reduce in size over time until you are down to what we call the lone ranger. At 41 years sober I only have to wear a tiny conical party hat now. Remember folks, there is no problem or difficulty in life that a drink could not make worse
@@gotch09 I sort was replying to Jonathan's comment to you with a little deliberate sarcasm because I didn't like his scathing take on British humour. However, he is quite entitled to his opinion and perhaps I shouldn't have challenged it. Each to our own. It's all all subjective anyway.
Hale N pace was a brilliant comedy duo funny silly sketches esp when they did the public menace skit about the deadly...DOUBLE BUGGY!! ..remember it? Its a.pity they are not on tv anymore as we could do with their silly humour to brighten us all up rather than some of the po faced sueudo itelectuall humour from some of so called comedians nowadays

I'm in recovery too, I think these kind of sketches are hilarious! we may be alcoholics but we do have a sense of humour lol
I wish Hale and Pace was back on TV. So much funnier than some of the “comedies” of today
Just about pissed myself. That was the funniest things I seen for a while
These guys are gold. .
Brill
one of the funniest sketches I've ever seen!!!
I agree
Watch their bar fight one lol
Imagine this being aired on mainstream national TV these days! I bet even the Barlows from Corrie attending AA wouldn't be allowed!
I'll never gonna forget the first time I watched this...
That last joke is particularly apposite given that Pace's real first name is Norman.
loved it.......merry xmas..............
Merry Christmas
Dont know how many times ive watched this . I crack up every time hahahaha !!!
Reminds me of the Fast Show sketch at the AA meeting 'Anyone fancy a pint?'
John Thomson's acting was good in that sketch.

Well done my man 👍🏻
I had my last drink 41 minutes ago
pure magic.😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
A lot of Amercian's may not get British humor. But I get this-totally. Very funny.
Do all your conversions include a seven year pause.
@@stanssoapbox Not necessarily. Who's asking?

@JONATHAN SUTCLIFFE glad to see you’ve fixed your caps lock button Jon
"yeah I'm fine!, apart from the drink problem of course."
This is how anonymous alcoholics meetings should look, it actually makes purpose to the anonymity stuff
I fancied using the AA, but couldn't find my way to the meeting.
I haven't gotten a paperbag... so I'm in the clear.
Luv it
Yeah, i'm a total piss artist!
Classic...
je fajn že dáváš tyhle videa, ale bylo by fajn nemít na profilu napsáno CZ a nebo aspoň udělat titulky
Or is it Bungle? Anyway he sounds very familiar!
Gold!
Norman is actually his real life name. Norman Hale
*Norman Pace and Gareth Hale
Cheers for correction
that was a leftfield joke in the end of course.....

Last I heard, one of them is apparently a professional poker player.
lol my last name is Dijkstra, are u Dutch?
Not politically correct enough for the leftist msm these days, sadly. I just have to see hales face to burst out laughing.
Is it just me or does the guy in the suit sound like it could be Geoffrey off the children's programme "Rainbow"?
Genius
Ha ha ha made my day 😅
The reason I don't drink alcohol:
He should have just given them numbers
Better watch. The laughter police will say this is off limits. Most things are now.
