1) Only use the Pokemon in the Title
2) Other Pokemon are allowed (HMs), but should not be used in battle
3) No items in battle (held items allowed)
4) Set Mode - Игры
I didn't think I'd ever see the day when Kakuna's Harden would win a battle, let alone the game ...
Ayo WTF 🤣
😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆 🤣 😂
We laughed at Ash for trying that in the Metapod mirror and look how he ended up
Kakuna used harden, it was super effective!
Kakuna PP stalling the Champion’s Pidgeot through his entire stock of healing items is the greatest thing I’ve ever seen
Let nobody say that Kakuna didn’t pull his weight
@@deep_cuts2019
Her weight.
The champion is such a bitch for those full restores…
@@pkmntrainermark8881 He was using the gender-neutral _he._
It definitely earned that evolution 🙌
Rattata has an insane movepool for being literally just a rat
One thing they did in Gen I was give most normal types super diverse movesets. In a way it's the whole "jack of all trades master of none" thing.
In general they were also a bit more liberal with who could learn what TM, leading to fun combos like Rhydon with Surf.
Well, it's a purple rat, that makes it special
Nowadays it's the same 12 coverage moves across all Pokemon
lol
No wonder youngster joey loved him so much.
Kakuna Rattata will always be the best duo to exist in pokemon history
Kakuna Rattata ain’t no passing craze yeah
W
What a wonderful team.
Jrose11 and his viewers will be the best duo to exist in pokemon history.
It means no OHKOs, for the rest of your days, it’s our low-HP, philosophy, Kakuna Ratata
The image of a fight between the best 2 trainers leading to be a worm and a bird flailing around for an hour is the only thing I needed to complete this year
It’s a cocoon but 😂
If I could animate, this is what I would do. 😂
THE RETURN OF KAKUNA RATTATA?!?? I'm here for it.
It means no worries
Never mind
Im here for it. I'm here for it. Im here for it.
Gross
Actually it’s Rattata Kakuna
Outstanding move to attack your own rattata with poison sting at 05:02 in order to motivate it even more. Only a true legend would know about this strategy.
Whoa that was weird
The AI on Pokémon Colosseum know this strat
Guts doubles damage which makes ratacate a mvp in nuzlockes may not have been on purpose but if he got rattata poisoned kakuna may have lived
@@HaydnG266 Wait, really? That's incredible
@@Potato_tomato47 guts is only 1.5x damage
Holy shit, the fact that all those Featherdances might have actually won you the run, considering it meant that Struggle's recoil did less damage than Leftovers can heal. Absolutely hype run!
right bc the bird had so much hp to create recoil with the heals
Oh, sweet god yes.
SAME
@@adonai3676 Such a wonderful team.
Basically my first thoughts upon reading the title
In jesus name
It means snow flurries Berry in your HP down! It's all tried and true, red and blue, kakuna Rattata!
The rival really used 4 potions, 2 of which were after he was forced into struggle. He REALLY wanted to be petty because he got stalled out of moves
Stalling out with harden while the rival rages and throws everything it can at you. That's an Ash level strat right there.
That final battle Struggle v Struggle. Pidgeot healing multiple times. Absolutely perfect end to the run. Also the sand attacks might have actually helped as Kakuna wasn't taking recoil damage so was able to stay at nearly full HP .
What's funny is if Pidgeot also had Leftovers they would have been stuck in struggle limbo unless Kakuna got 3 crits in a row I think...? Or maybe 4, even.
But if Kakuna hit more struggles it probably would have killed the Pidgeot faster right?
@@Begeru Considering its base attack is 25, I would say Pidgeot was probably doing more damage to itself than Kakuna using struggle
I can’t believe this man actually brought that old series back 😂
I’m half expecting the next video to be a “Shiny Strats” or “How to Find” tutorial lmao
The same way I found his channel
Top ten Kakuna Rattata moments
How to find applin in scarlet and violet video next maybe?
Step 1: buy switch online.
Step 2: use surprise trade until you get one.
Or a catch em all
I hope this series continues.
There's no reason he couldn’t mod Kakuna Rattata double battles into other games.
As one of the viewers of the original series, this made my day. The final battle was one of the most edge of my seat moments I've had, right up there with the endgame of the Emerald Ditto run. Wonderful end to the month of Jrose.
The ending to this run was more hilarious than most comedy movies I've ever seen
🎼Kakuna-Rattata; such a wonderful team! Kakuna-Rattata; ain’t no passing dream! It means tons of worries, for about 40 days! It’s not problem free! A misery! Kakuna-Rattata! 🎶

P.S.: Unfortunately Beedrill ends up a HoF, not Kakuna. 😭
Kakuna went "this isn't even my final form!" after winning to rub salt in the wound.
It means mo' worries
Professional writers couldn't have written a better ending than that. My God that was epic.
Finally you uploaded video. I been waiting for THREE DAYS
this duo is the true SWORD & SHIELD of pokemon
The delivery of “ if charizard can just come out and one shot rattata…. That’s not good.” Was Great reason. Lmao
You know the video will be a banger when the elite 4 starts half way in and there’s still 40 mins left.
I can't think of a more epic way to round off the Month of Jrose. That final battle...just, wow.
The entire year of 2022 honestly. I've actually had the worst month in my entire life in this December. And channels like Jrose uploading 30+ videos and JCS making a surprise return have made it much less sucky for me.
definitely wouldn't be opposed to more fire red double battle playthoughs, so many combinations!
Yes, how fast can u beat Pokemon fire red with mew and mewtwo?
Despite its seeming simplicity, Kakuna is a Pokémon that holds a great deal of beauty and wonder within its form. Its tough exterior serves as a reminder of the strength and resilience that can be found within us all, while its calm and collected demeanor is a reminder of the importance of inner peace and balance. As it evolves into Beedrill and grows stronger, it becomes a formidable and powerful force, a testament to the transformative power of growth and development.
Beautiful...
Lame... Lol
Inspirational…
But have you heard of how wonderful Vaporeon is? Way better than Kakuna.
@@threehead99 WHAT HAVE YOU BROUGHT UPON THIS ACCURSED LAND
All this effort for a pun, years in the making.
Truly, this is why you're the best.
You're telling me that old kakuna rattata series was YOU?! I watched those years and years ago! They actually still have the red watch bar in the thumbnails! Those episodes were the first non traditional (aka nuzlocke or its offshoots) Pokemon challenge videos I ever watched. That is absolutely crazy.
Kakuna ending up winning against Pidgeot put a smile on my face.
8:15 Fun fact: in Gen 1, Caterpie and Weedle do not learn Harden when they evolve. This is why Stadium's rental Kakuna and Metapod do not know them.
This changed in Yellow for Metapod and Gen 2 for Kakuna.
That is wrong dude
No, it's true. RB has them learn Harden at level 1, which means they only know it if you encounter them in the wild. Metapod was set to learn it again at level 7 in Yellow but not Kakuna, I assume because Kakuna isn't in Yellow.
This may actually be my favorite run yet
I had a awful day, what a way to end it. Thank you Jrose!
Hope it gets better tomorrow brother.
@@Rifforecordz thanks man, all love
Hey, just a reminder: it's a bad day, not a bad life. Keep it up, you can do it! I believe in you
I’ve had bronchitis this week praise jrose for the entertainment
Don't worry, I had a bad day as well :)
Amazing. I love how Pokemon can take such ridiculous turns with the right boosts, items, and/or a level advantage.
Going through some pretty heavy holiday drama between different family members and having to mediate between them all, and I gotta say that when I finally got back to my hotel room I was so happy to see that you've uploaded this. You're helping me relax tonight after a very stressful day. Thanks, JRose!
I think this is my favourite Jrose video yet!!! It had everything. Suspense, amazing editing, storylines and some of the most ridiculous and crazy strategies I've ever seen. What a way to cap off the month of Jrose
This is one of the first videos of yours that I watched. Glad to see a remake of it with all the experience you've gotten over the years 🔥
The fact that rattata can learn electric and ice moves has always confused the hell out of me... Like how does that make any sense lmao
Electric rodents? In my Pokemon game?
It's more common than you think.
@@samperez1727
An electric rodent is just ridiculous come on man
“Ma! Ma! The big ass rat got in the kitchen again- yeah it chewed through the wires and ended up in the fridge.”
The 2 most powerful pokemon of gen 1 coming together to kick ass and take badges
I think it’s so cool that both ratatta and kakuna both have abilities based on status affects.
Great video btw :) Gen 3 vids are always my favs.
I loved that you used Ken Sugimori's original artwork for the thumbnail. So classic.
The look on Gary's face when he loses to a Kakuna.
I've been here since the original Kakuna Rattata days, and I am SO happy to see its return!
i saw the first one ages ago, and watching you win this legendary rematch WITH kakuna... beautiful.
It means no fainting, for the rest of your days~
It's our fainting free philosophy
Kakuna Rattata~
The original Kakuna Rattata videos were what got me onto your channel in the first place! Been here ever since! So happy to see the challenge completed! ❤️
I loved seeing Kakuna being the secret MVP we didn't know but deserved!
Kakuna Rattata what a wonderful team!
No way... never in my life did I expect a sequel to this fever dream of a challenge run
That series brought me to your channel and I was so disappointed that you never ended that. Finally. Thank you.
OG kakuna ratata was awesome
I would like to see a raticate beedrill run tho
I spent years waiting for this.
Love you man, you are the best one who ever came to youtube.
I was wondering when Kakuna Rattata would come back a few days ago, hilariously.
beating out a ghost pokemon with struggle stall is what I watch this channel for.
perfect.
and the ending... couldn't ask for more!
At 23:20 in the battle vs Koga, there's a play you can make. As you say yourself, the AI will only use Self-Destruct if it calculates that it would kill you. However, since you actually out-speed the Weezing, you CAN get it to select Self-Destruct thinking it'd kill you, and then as the turn starts you Harden, killing both enemy Pokemon, but leaving you with a little bit of health thanks to the extra defense! It means you'd have to not Harden at all before Weezing can damage you into Self-Destruct range, which is risky, but it could be fun to see!
Well this strat only works if the Weezing actually knows Self-Destruct, which it doesn’t.
@@Begeru 😱
Bonus Jrose! I’m all for it!!!! The month of Jrose was amazing! Thank you for such a special treat!
Just wait till the next one. It’s gonna be a baaaaanger. :)
It was cool seeing Kakuna finally get to evolve.
Having the Rival 2 battle effectively be a 2-on-1 against him a nice change of pace from Gen 3 challenges that are 2-on-1 against you in Mossdeep, haha
Great run! I will say though, this run is Exhibit A as to why Struggle got changed in Gen 4 to remove 1/4 of your *max HP* instead of 1/4th of the damage dealt by Struggle itself every time it was used. Struggle also bypasses accuracy checks in Gen 4 onward, meaning that Sand-Attack/Double Team strats won't drag things out.
There u go! The final chapter guys!
That was a ridiculous ending! Can't believe stalling was the winning strategy.
*SPOILERS* I love how at the very end, the Kakuna became so powerful that you were unable to stop it from evolving
he really said "Guts" ignores burn damage but he meant it ignores burn lowering your physical power by half
This run gave me "no worries"
I'm actually tilted by the fact that Kakuna Rattata are in the wrong battle order 😐
The end became the Dorkly meme of just throwing the Kakuna at your enemy
Double battles seem like the natural thing trainers would do in real situation. We have all thought "why don't they just send out all their pokemon at once and beat them up?". One pokemon at a time seems arbitrary, but two seems reasonable. It is small enough for the trainer to keep track of everything and avoid friendly fire. It also allows strategies like seen here, where you have one stalling wall with status and a fast attacker.
Cant believe this has been brought back! Was so sad we never saw the conclusion, great to see this team return!!
Everyone knew Kakuna alone could steamroll this challenge, it's part of the NFE (notoriously freaking epic) tier
Am I the only one kind of upset that he didn't put Kakuna first in his party?
What do we have learned with this video: some of us needs to struggle harder to finally evolve into the magnificent kings and queens we are, and that's ok, because we ARE strong way before the evolution. Don't give up!
This is an amazing opening. Kakuna Ratata!! What a wonderful phrase! Amazing.
This is honestly one of the coolest challenge videos I’ve seen, would love more content like this
“Hm, if I have Kakuna shank Rattata in the back…”
The kind of madness that Jrose resorts to is endlessly entertaining.
This was a seriously amazing video, You have changed my view of Kakuna forever. It will be known as a champion for life!
The greatest duo in the history of pokemon has returned!
If this isn't the best finale for Month of Jrose, then I don't know what is. What an excellent narrative to a grindy, long challenge. This had me pretty tense. I was supposed to be doing dishes while I watched this, but the last like 20 minutes I got nothing done. Worth it.
(back to work for me. Off to watch Mah-Dry-Bread's new Fallout video)
I loved this duo so much I made them an optional boss encounter when I was running the PTU tabletop RPG. Absoutely legendary content for that final battle, Jrose, keep it up!
Youngster Joey went to Viridian Forest for a quick catch, then went on to become champion by challenging everyone to double battles
Cool idea for runs. Hope we get to see more like this in the future!
I loved that old series! Nice to see the concept revisited. Merry Christmas Jrose
Kakuna Ratata, what a wonderful phrase...
Kakuna Ratata, ain't no passing craze!
"I'm going to battle Erika next."
[jazz music stops]
I've been watching your videos for so long, seeing this pop up again is such a nostalgia trip lol
OMG I hope this month never ends and the sick titles just keep coming
More double battles please it just looks intense.
The most intense champion battle I seen from your videos.
Just got past the Misty battle, and when JRose explained Kakuna's purpose on the SS Anne, I immediately thought to myself, "So Ratatta is Batman, and Kakuna is Robin, then?"
If someone were to ask me how to describe JRose in two words? ABSOLUTE. MADMAN.
4:48 “it not only ignores burn damage…” *faints to burn damage 2 turns later* 😂
For incase there's any Pokemon newbies finding this video and watching it. When Jrose said that Guts Ability lets you ignore Burn damage, what he ACTUALLY meant I think, is that Guts lets you ignore the Attack stat debuff caused by Burn, and raises it's Attack even further
What an amazing final battle.
I never thought I’d see the day. Welcome back to Kakuna Rattata.
This duo truly is the Original Pokémon Sword and Shield
Kakuna Rattata was one of my favorites! I'm super glad you revisited it Jrose.
Thank you for all the great content
I've been waiting for this for Y E A R S now - love it!!!
I loved how it took like 5 minutes even sped up to get through the struggle against Pidgeot.Just so funny.
Also a fan of the original, and was hoping for it to continue.
> Kakuna Rattata challenge
> Leads with Rattata
Favorite video you've made yet. I watched the originals a few months ago. I love the underdog / unevolved challenges.
Yessss! So excited this has actually been released 🎉 🙌 Been YEARS since I first watched this on your channel, bravo! 👏
I love that kakuna is constantly trying to evolve every time it levels up, I imagine that butterfree is trying to come out of the cocoon and the trainer is holding it shut
If you expect a butterfree to come out from a kakuna, you are in for a surprise.
Beee
I remember subscribing to you after seeing the Kakuna Rattata video, this is gonna be nostalgic
Wow, Giovanni's Nidorino using Helping Hand was... interesting. XD I love how that's only relevant in a very specific type of hack.
While I wasn't around for the original videos, I did go through all the old ones after discovering the channel, so this was a pretty nice surprise. =) The final showdown between Pidgeot and Kakuna somehow outdid the legendary Metapod vs. Metapod battle, which is something I never thought I'd say.
