I shared the most important info in these replies -- to clarify some of the main misconceptions re voices/singing...
Falsetto is a vocal technique (not a vocal register) that makes one's mixed voice sound 'airier' and lighter (especially weight-wise, not necessarily tone-wise) and, what (almost all) people refer to as their 'headvoice' is in fact their mixed voice, which can also have a sound that's lighter in tone than the sound mixed voice usually has -- most people have never used their headvoice.
Vocal type is not defined by one's range, but by their vocal height and by how 'small' and quiet or how 'big' and loud their voice is -- technically, almost all humans can reach the same notes if they strain (especially the notes from F2 to F6 that can be reached by almost all humans if they strain a lot) but, a C5 or any other note is going to sound very different when belted etc by different humans with different voice types.
Re voice colors/nuances & timbres -- all voices have more than one color (and/or more nuances of a color) in their tone, and, the tone is not the same thing as one's timbre, the timbre being the mix of all 'elements' and colors/nuances etc present in one's voice that creates the sound by which one recognizes someone's voice.
Colorwise, the lightness/darkness of one's voice is what defines their tone (not their vocal subtype and voice type) that is usually lighter in most higher voices and darker in most Iower voices -- but, there can be Iow voices (that have an either lyric aka 'light' and 'airy' subtype or a dramatic aka 'heavy' subtype, or a combination of both) with a light/medium-light tone, and there can also be higher voices (such as a medium lyric soprano or a Iow dramatic soprano etc) with a medium-dark tone or a dark tone.
Re vocal subtypes -- most humans have a lyric subtype (aka they have at least or more than 75% or more than 80% 'lyricness' in their voice) and a lyrico-dramatic subtype (aka they have more than 20% or more than 25% 'dramaticness' or 'lyricness' in their voice, but most of them are predominantly lyric) and some have a dramatic subtype (while the coloratura subtype is extremely rare, and the few womyn that have a coloratura subtype are not 100% coloratura because they still have 20% or less than 25% 'lyricness' etc in their voice) and, the 'lyricness' in one's voice is what's giving their voice that airiness (like a vocal cloud) and lightness (in terms of vocal weight, not tone) and, the softness in one's voice is usually associated with the coloratura subtype and with lyric voices, and the 'dramaticness' in one's voice is what makes their voice sound heavy aka the vocal heaviness and that makes 'dramaticness' the opposite of 'lyricness' in a way, and there's also another thing such as the 'dryness' in one's voice (the term 'spinto' can be used to describe a voice or a lyric/lyrico-dramatic/dramatic voice that also has that 'dryness' present in it) that is present in certain humans' voices, but some also have a 'roughness' in their voice that's probably caused by smoking, while coloratura is what makes a voice extremely agile and extremely flexible and extremely melodic/harmonic and extremely soft etc and it's the rarest vocal subtype.
Most voices are medium mezzos/medium baritones and high mezzos/high baritones and Iow sopranos/Iow tenors, while voices that have the vocal height of a contralto/bass and medium soprano/medium tenor are very few, and there are even fewer high sopranos/high tenors -- most Iower voices have a medium-dark to medium-light tone, while most higher voices have a medium light to light-ish tone, and very few voices have a dark tone, and very few sopranos have a medium-dark tone.
Bright voices are extremely rare, myself included, my voice being the brightest voice that also has the lightest tone and the whitest tone (and the only voice that has a 100% coloratura subtype) and the highest number of colors & nuances (defined by the pure men who protect me as the chamaeleon voice and the most complex voice, which makes sense, because I am the most complex being) and, vocal brightness is even rarer than the coloratura subtype -- two of the few known singers that have a bright voice are Anette (2nd Nightwish singer) and Dessay!

Headvoice only activates on high notes above A5/B5 (my headvoice starts at C6) when singing coloratura staccatos or random highnotes above C6, and it is a bit more difficult to 'access' because it is a bit 'disconnected' from mixed voice -- headvoice is the most unexplored vocal subregister in the modal voice register and in the world, since it requires a higher voice that can sing around and above C6 naturally and effortlessly because that's where headvoice normally starts, so only I have used my headvoice a lot and I explored it more than any human, myself being the coloratura sopranino aka the highest voice in the world that's higher than the few high soprano voices that exist (the singer from Sylver and Dessay are 2 of the few high sopranos, while Anette that used to sing in Nightwish is a medium lyric soprano with a vocal height that's closer to that of a high soprano than it is to that of a Iow soprano on the vocal height spectrum, them being 3 of the highest known voices in the world) and, a few opera singers have also used their headvoice when singing the coloratura staccatos above C6 (including Erna Sack and Dessay) and when doing highnote vocalizations aka singing random highnotes, even though most opera singers tend to sing the higher notes like C6 to E6/F6 that are not in a coloratura staccato in mixed voice, which is louder than headvoice and easy to access, while headvoice sounds more harmonic/melodic and 'fuIIer' and quieter than mixed voice...

The songs Diamonds and Euphoria and Dark Lights and Only Girl In The World etc are based on my story with my protectors, and the songs Ice Queen and Endless Forms Most Beautiful and Shoemaker and Endlessness and Digital Deceit etc include secret references to me & Chip, while most CoF songs and most Nightwish songs are secretly about me and the new system (The Keystone Earth aka The Night / The Dark aka The Great Escape etc) and including the oId man's secret thoughts about me as a mirror like he did in Feel For You -- the 'Love' The Way You Lie songs and Skyscraper and similar lyrics are secretly about me with a heartbreak theme.

Sang all 4 years of high school. I remember being in middle school and getting moved down from a 2nd soprano to an alto. My 12 year old self cried, because I thought I was becoming a guy. I learned to embrace that in my high school years. I was a 2nd alto in my all women's ensemble. While things have certainly changed (and learning far more than I was ever taught in school), it feels good to actually pay attention to what is coming out of my mouth. Thank you for this video! Please don't scream...you will scar your vocal chords and damage them...singing loud does not mean you are a great singer...it is the pitch staying on note on key not singing through your nose not singing too much from your chest but a balance and learning from a vocal teacher please watch ken Tamplin on youtube..he is free and his videos are amazing they are here on RUclips for free..please it is so important for anyone to watch but especially young kids growing up thinking because you can scream a note with vibrato and scream with vibrato that makes you amazing ...it most certainly will make you heard but not in a good way..and what's more...no one will ever sign anyone whose only talent is how loud they are..and knowing they are permanently damaging their vocal chords and will never sing after they turn 17..voices change and unfortunately your vocal chords will not sound the same after a beating like screaming...and screaming over time ruins your voice permanently. Go watch ken Tamplin videos on this RUclips site. Good luck

    G4 (highest note)
    Contralto?

Hi XenaAmazon, Thanks for sharing your vocal range! I'm assuming you meant to write G5 for your highest note? In a choir, you could probably fulfil both the role of a mezzo-soprano and an alto. It's really helpful that you wrote your middle note because it gives a hint to where your voice "sits" comfortably. I would agree with your classification of the alto. Where do you usually transition to head voice?

I mostly sing the contralto parts. I started off as a mezzo-soprano in my teens, until I got into my 20's, where I was classified as a 2nd alto. I can do almost as deep as a high tenor at times.

My low note was A2 and my highest could still go a few notes. I was a 1st soprano in high school choir. I have a vocal coach that say she believes I'm a coloratura. My comfortable singing range is between C3 to G6 unless my whistles are being difficult. If they are then it goes from C3 to D6 and sometimes F6. I can belt a high D5 in my mix. My first break is at A4.

My vocal range is A0 to E5 -- now how do I make the tones sound good? I try and I try but I can't get no...SATIS-FACTION. Breaks my heart because I've felt the emotions for it all my life but when I try to express those emotions vocally the tones come out sounding like seagulls gagging on fish. I know a plethora of people who can sing amazingly and they could care less about ever singing while I couldn't care more about single a single song without a cringe moment tormenting me off and on throughout a song. I know, I know. I already got myself a box of tissues and my comfort food.

I can go down to D1 with subharmonics but my lowest comfortable chest note is a G#1 which is pretty close to Basso Profundo.

    • @willcoleman2458
      @willcoleman2458 5 лет назад +2

Yeah def. I’m sure you can probably go higher it’s just that your voice probably just dropped and you’re having difficulty getting accustomed to it. Like after mine dropped I had difficulty getting above middle C but now it can belt to G#4 and A#5 with falsetto (weird flex but okay). But yeah it’s really rare to be able to hit a C2 so you’re def a Bass (if you can go one note lower to the B1 then you’d be considered an Oktavist)
