While standing, go the corner of where two walls meet/the apex line... put your nose as close to the apex and try singing... you will hear every nuance/inflection/resonance in your voice and will instantly sing better. This works especially well with common drywall walls. A great place to practice!

I am a vocal coach and I have heard the mixed voice placement described like this. I will say though I think for the tenor and bass voices the slide up is easier. Those voices are strong in the lower registers and soprano/alto voices are stronger in the upper. But this is brilliant. 👏👏

Going from lower to higher is way easier for me. I can definitely hear the transition, but my voice doesn't crack like when I go from high to low. It really helped when I opened my mouth on the inside to make the transition smooth going from lower to higher. I did it! But I absolutely can't go down without a break. The only improvement is my voice doesn't crack. :P

High to low is easier for me, my speaking voice has a lot of ping where my head voice naturally has none, so the change is easier going into the resonance because i gradually lose it going up.
This highlighted a long standing issue for me and confirmed I'm on fhe right track with focusing on the CT muscles at the moment and working out the balance from their side.

Voice Teacher here. This is a good “mix basics” video. That being said, I wish you would touch on the lateral cricoarytenoid muscle and producing a mix by stretching the vocal folds and tilting the larynx, without having to focus too much on resonance. I have the resonant mix mastered pretty well I feel. Regarding the resonance focused mix, outside of pop and classical though it’s usage is limited I feel. It would be interesting to have you touch on the modal mix and vowel modifications needed to bring the modal mix up.

Transitioning from high to low is easiest for me (no voice break). For reference, I’m an alto, and I sing most comfortably between E3 and E4. My natural speaking voice is D3/E3. When singing low to high I experience the most breakage when transitioning from A4 to B4.

I find it much easier to from low to high. I used to crack going both directions but now I can control low to high but still not high to low. Not trying to learn to sing, I'm actually trying to learn how to voice act multiple characters. I have to play both a deep voiced male British lucifer character and a sweet high pitched voiced American female character and they are talking to each other... I'm finding it very hard and thought this video might help.

Please don't take this personally. I'm also working on my Mix Voice, and some RUclips videos here, including yours, have one thing in common. You explain everything wonderfully, but what about the breath support? I don't see anything there. Without that, you end up very quickly in the head voice.

Depends which time I try and the exact sound I try with as to which direction the break feels more 'awkward', like there's a 'lump' to get over. Sometimes up, sometimes down. I don't know until I get there how awkward it's going to be either, like I can't feel what's happening until it goes wrong. The stronger the resonance, the worse it is when it goes wrong if anything, like I'm locking myself into chest or head voice, not into resonance. Weird.

I have like a 3 note range in chest voice. Not 3 octaves (yeah right). No, literally 3 half steps. Alright maybe like 7 max. A#3 is highest. Then it breaks and jumps an entire 5th to D#4. Oh well, it only skipped all the notes in the middle of the piano, nobody ever needs those. Conclusion: Unmixable. Unusable really. Some people just shouldn't sing. Glad I watched this.
