One of the few bands who can still make a guitar sing
Cried
Oh, also, if you want to hear the last song The Rev ever wrote and performed on, it's called "Fiction" off of the Nightmare album. He turned it in 3 days before he passed away.
his original vocals are featured in some of it also. When he wrote songs he would try to mimic the lead singers voice, and they left it the way he recorded it in the bridge and it’s beautiful. The song is a true reflection of what would come to pass as well, beautifully tragic.
anyone know if he has done any pinkly smooth yet??
Instablaster.
Man I remember when this video came out. The montage of Jimmy clips never fails. Can't believe it's been 10 years.
So Jimmy is "The Rev"?
@@MetalBikerDudeReacts Yessir! His name was James Owen Sullivan, but was known by Jimmy, or the Rev, either or.
@@MetalBikerDudeReacts yes
@@MetalBikerDudeReacts you gotta listen to St James. It is the light to the dark of this song. The Rev passed away 10 years ago. This is the first album after he died. Very sad...but awesome they are such a great band!
I remember. I literally felt so much that day. Losing someone so near and dear is the most fucking difficult thing to go through. I lost my girlfriend in a car accident about 2 years after this released. She fucking loved this band as much as I still do. R.I.P Emily and Jimmy...I miss you guys so fucking much
Im a man and I cry everytime I watch this. Emotions are not a sign of weakness. Recognizing emotions is a sign of strength.
Same bro, same.
We trully sad everytime we watch..
I can't imagined what mat, syn, and others feel
The montage of the Rev always gets me man...
Facts my guy 💪🏻🥶
If you notice, Synyster Gates , the lead guitarist, usually has fret inlays that say SYN. In this video they say REV. The bassist's strap also says foREVer.
Michael Tabor that’s my favorite part about Synyster’s role in that song, I had been listening to them for a while before and even after the passing of the Rev but I never noticed that little detail until one day I was just sitting there watching the video for like the hundredth time and it was like a “wow” moment. He must have had that guitar specifically produced for this song. Beautiful piece of work by each and every one of the guys. Long live The Rev and their music. Forever in our hearts.
Yeah ever since he passed, if I'm not mistaken, all, if not most, of syns guitar now say "rev" instead of "syn".
Michael Tabor I’ve just noticed this! Wow
at syn chest tattoo also write foREVer
How could I miss it!
Can't help but feel the heartbreak for these guys.
Please, please, PLEASE, react to Buried Alive by them, the transitions on that song are amazing, If you liked Nightmare you will love it. I can also tell you about a lot of their songs that I would bet my life you’ll love.
Cheers man, great reaction 👍🏼👍🏼
Btw just to let you know the integrants of the band are:
- Vocals: Matt / M. Shadows
-Lead Guitar: Synyster Gates
- Rythm guitar: Zacky Vengeance
- Bass: Johnny Christ
- Drums: Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan (RIP) / and the actual drummer, that’s awesome too, Brooks Wackerman (yeah that’s his real name).
They are all so talented it’s ridiculous.
Yes Buried Alive should be next!
A agree that he should do Buried Alive. It’s an amazing song
Buried Alive next... Save Me afterwards.
Dude, you will get into these guys one way or another because they have such a huge range in the metal genre spectrum.
I LOVE that song! I'm also really fond of "Shepherd Of Fire".
As you like the lyrics so much it might interest you that the lead guitarist, Synyster Gates, wrote this song, including the lyrics. At first it was going to mostly be about his Grandfather who passed but then when Rev died...they were best friends. The whole band are close but Rev and Syn were best friends so this is how he translated the pain - this is a beautifully made video and I agree with you that you can hear it in every instrument and M. Shadow's vocals. All brilliant.
I don't really listen to heavy metal biker dude but that was a really good song. So glad I clicked!
Avenged Sevenfold have plenty of awesome songs, just not so much recently though
It's about the drummer passing, away I figured you didn't know by your comment ,so even though it's a ballad that's why it's popular
@@Persholm1 what do you mean not so much recently? have you never listened to a single thing on the album the stage which was their most recent
@@duckspy436 It's this weird thing called subjectivity...
@@Persholm1 im too used to people shitting non stop on avenged because of their lack of knowledge about them. for instance a shit ton of people like to hate on them because of "how bad their current drummer is and how bland and boring their recent songs are" when infact they are talking about hail to the king and didnt even realize theres been 3 drummers and a full album since and the fact one of those drummers died.
I'm so glad you researched it and realized what it was about. They did such an amazing job and you can FEEL their loss....RIP Rev.
I'm a old school metalhead and the albums nightmare and the stage have some amazing songs that have reignited my passion for metal as listening to the same songs over the last 30 yrs was getting well ....old
This is a heartfelt dedication to their drummer, who lost his life.
Love the reaction, and are so glad that you're starting to like Avenged Sevenfold, they're such an awesome band, and i would also want to point out that they're one of the best (if not the best) live acts in modern metal 😊 you have to do Live in the LBC, when they (especially Matt, the vocalist) are in their absolute prime 😊 if not the entire concert then atleast a few songs, mainly Critical Acclaim, Second Heartbeat, Unholy Confessions and A Little Piece of Heaven 😊
Anybody else felt like he made that guitar... sing?!
Save me is a masterpiece as well! It’s another song about the rev, except less melodic more metal 🤙🏼
When I haven’t listened to this song for longer periods of time I forget how incredible and raw it gets towards the climax. RIP Jimmy FoREVer
The emotionalist Song from Avenged Sevenfold...every time i cry....we Miss you all day
Rest in peace Rev you will always be remembered this song makes me cry every time i hear it
What a tribute from a metal band. One of my favs from a hard core rocker chick. Thank you
Hearing this song in concert is so emotional. To see Jimmy on the big screen gets me. I love that they still have the Rev singing his parts in concert. Hearing his voice still, everything is just emotional. You need to do some videos with the Rev drumming. He is amazing to watch. Afterlife, Critical Acclaim LBC, A Little Piece of Heaven LBC, Almost Easy, Bat Country, Beast and the Harlot. I absolutely love him.
Avenged Severnfold - A Little Piece of Heaven Live LBC
You didn't notice there was no drummer in the video?.... The Rev was beautiful and amazing. Thank you and blessed be for sharing this. You're remarkable and amazing yourself brother.
oh man I tear up every time I see this video! God bless!
Chills!!! Everytime man....... The feelings
The part when syn kissed jimmy on the head gets me everytime
Listen to Avenged Sevenfold - Second Heartbeat, or Unholy Confessions
Buried Alive is a fantastic Avenged song along with M.I.A if you enjoy some guitar
Do a video of their full Live in the LBC concert, you’ll get a taste of how well The Rev and the rest of them perform
And see how well the righty and lefty guitarists perform together
If not the full concert then at least react to “A Little Piece of Heaven Live At The LBC”
Recently found your channel, didnt really expect much but I really do love your reactions and your personality. This song means a lot to me, as you probably can see I have a profile pic of the rev (Jimmy Sullivan), and it was very hard for me when he passed away since I loved the band so extremly much, and as a young kid I saw them live, and he was always one of my biggest idols. He was a musical genious, and he played so many different instruments so well. Out from what I know he was such a nice and caring person, and he was very unlucky, getting a heart desease which gave him a lot of pain, and he knew he would die at a young age, which was definitly very hard for him- Thank you for bringing this back to me with this video, as I havent heard this song in a long time. Keep up the good videos and your honest reactions, I really enjoy watching them. Thank you. Oh, and please do more avenged sevenfold reactions, I really enjoy it.
This song breaks me. Lost my son in September, and this song just..sums up my feelings so much
That Solo Hits me everytime when i heared
emotionnal masterpiece. The guitar solo at 9:30 with the real pictures of The Rev is so intense ! Beautiful song.
I hear you there, man. You can feel strong emotion from the guitars, the drums, and especially the vocals. Right at the end makes me want to cry everytime.
Listen to.Coming Home by Avenged Sevenfold in the hail to the king album. I love the emotion in that song and solo!
React to a little piece of heaven lol
Yeah that would be his nightmare lol
😂😂😂 can you imagine
I'm just starting to watch his videos everyday don't scare him away
The Rev is syn(guitarist) best friend since his in 6 grade and m shadows(vocal) too, rev it's not only playing a drum, he wrote a lyric he do some vocal part in the song.. for example almost easy and a little peace of heaven is was made by the rev, from the guitar and the drum, bass and more, he's a talented drummer, he's still young, but he's skill is underated.. (look his triple bass drum set)
awesome channel dude. I can not explain how much i needed this
This is such a GREAT song and video!
Noooo you missed THE HUG at the end of the video😭 btw, i loved that reaction❤🤘
I’m glad they carried on in his memory. Must’ve been a very hard song to write and make.
Edit: also I noticed how they didn’t show the new drummer during the entire video.
This video is about a (correct me if I'm wrong) tribute to their drummer called The Rev.
This video was originally made for Syn's grandfather, but with The Rev's passing, he decided to dedicate to The Rev
This song was actually written by synyster gates he and the rev were the closest they were in a punk band before avenged sevenfold called pinkly smooth
Thank god you paused it at the end, there’s a clip at the end of all the band members in a huddle up, I’m guessing before or after a show. Just puts the cherry on top and makes me shed a tear every time.
The person who claimed this isn't even A7X. The copyright system is broken.
avenged sevenfold has been one of my favorite bands since i was like 12, about to be 30 next month,
you should check out some Epica too (:
Subbed for more A7x reactions. 🤘🏽
I don't care what you say. You held those tears back so hard. The video was amazing. The fact is though when you see that it makes you think of the losses we all have acquired through life.
This is a song dedicated to the one of the greatest drummer in era.. Jimmy "The ReV" Sullivan.. may he rest his soul.
Rip The Rev you will be foREVer in our hearts. 💕
Save me. It’s a masterpiece.
Recent subscriber here. I very much appreciate your love and knowledge for music. It's refreshing to see others like myself, who music literally speaks to your soul. Feeling the emotion in each instrument. If you haven't listened to fiction by a7x yet, please do. It's the last song Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan wrote, and turned in, before he passed 3 days later. Very controversial song in regards to it being his swan song, so to speak. In it, he says "Promise me, you'll never be afraid." So, in this song, they tell him "Sleep tight, I'm not afraid." Very touching and moving. This song is so deep. Keep up the amazing and honest reviews bro!
Great react man, this song hits real hard, I’d been huge a fan of the band since their first album nearly 20yrs ago when I was just a young kid still, waking up to the news that the Rev had past away was by far the hardest I’ve ever been hit by a celebrity death, he was a fantastic drummer and songwriter, truly a very special musician. His death was very hard on the other band members because they’d been friends since they were kids especially the Rev and the guitarist synyster who had been best friends since a very young age. Anyway I’m rambling now but this is a great tribute song from a great band, good work on the reaction video.
A7X has alot of what I call epic pieces.....WOn't See You Tonight, Save Me, Buried Alive, A Little Piece of Heaven, Not Ready to Die, The Stage, etc.
Buried Alive! They played that one at the last show I attended....it was phenomenal!
I have only recently in the last few years gotten into A7X because of my youngest brother he is right into them and when I first heard them was like when I first heard the old Metallica I was blown away, when I first heard this song it made all the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and brought a tear to my eye not only because of the REV but it also relates to my family losing our nephew in a car accident so when I hear this song I think of the REV and my nephew it cuts deep this song I love it. Awesome review, great great reaction and the way you felt at the end thats how I felt lost for words just wanted to ball. Any of their stuff is really good you will enjoy it I promise you 👌👍🤘
Cry everytime I hear it. Even when seeing them live. Ugly crying.
Song was originally written by Syn Gates(lead guitarist) about his grandfather but they also use it as tribute to the Rev.
Clutch!!! ❤
best reaction vid,very detail
Very Good!
Please do save me - avenged sevenfold
You want to see how twisted the Rev was, check out A Little Piece of Heaven. Just a song about Love, Murder, and Love after Murder!!!
this song gets me so emotional all the time I'm listening to it. They became my favorite band in 2011 and in 2017, when my grandpa died, this song helped me through such a dark time, when I felt nothing but a huge loneliness and sadness. The lyrics spoke so much to me, like "when I have so much to say, but you're so far away", because he died at a time when he got weaker and weaker, not really recognizing what was going on around him. Nevertheless, I hope my words got through to him and metal music is the one thing which pushes me through dark times and keeps me happy in good times!
Love your reaction ✌

when the metal band make a sad song, they make me falling to another level of sadness
I listen to all that too, Avenged Sevenfold is great.
Do critical acclaim by them, the original/lyric video
Imagine if this song hits you, imagine how it hits me that I happened to discover it when my little brother passed away. RIP Diego RIP ReV
You kind of remind me of boozer from days gone. He's another badass biker dude
I can see the emotion in your eyes sir
There was a trilogy done for The Rev... So Far Away....Save me.....Fiction..... They are all tributes to The Rev....R.I.P Rev... we miss as your Bandmates do... I hope you found peace... watch all of them as they go though the trials and tribulations of life. As someone else pointed out the last song "Fiction" was finished by the Rev 3 days before he passed. The Band put their parts in and released the song for him. Fiction is one of THE most spooky songs i have ever heard...knowing what i know now
I feel the same way!! It's impossible not to.
I really love this reaction!!
Has anyone realised that gates guitar has an emotion
the nightmare album hits to close to me. I lost my friend in a bike accident. I heard this album before his death and though nothing of it. Until I lost him. The album for me is a way a cope with his loss. From this song to fiction to even victim. Its scary that the rev wrote those songs then everything happen. I always feel the nightmare album was his suicide note.
Mike Portnoy did amazing job on drums.
Check out "Almost Easy" The Rev wrote that song.
The Rev is James Owen Sullivan
The Rev real name is James Owen Sullivan
everytime it reach the REV part on the last part of the video, i cried. it just too deep....
avenged sevenfold - save me pls
Yo MBD you said you listened to Pantara back in the day?? Avenged covered Walk from Pantara. Check it out.

RIP rev 😔
This is the only song grown ass men admit to crying to
It is a memorial to the old drummer because he died so they made to say that their so far away
plz try natrual born killer by avenged sevenfold. it was as far as i know one of the last songs the rev ever wrote
if i am not mistaken Synyster Gates wrote the song
I wonder why 8 people bothered to dislike this.
foREVer
How much did you pay for your hell raiser? I got the exact one brand new basically for £150 with the sustainiac and in seeethrough red
If you want more awesome metal, react to some Avatar, they are Swedish metal, they are amazing, i have seen them live almost a dozen times and i have never been disappointed.
I know its been a long time since this video, but haven't seen a reaction to "Afterlife" by them, if you haven't heard it, hit it up.
RIP Jimmy the REV Sullivan
Omg you need to react to “Avenged Sevenfold - A Little Piece Of Heaven”
Actually Jimmie the drummer who died was a part of that song, he wrote the song and (he played the girl) in the end
Correct me if I’m wrong. But please do react to it and I mean the LIVE VERSION one too. For real. It’s the best. Live at LBC.
May I recommend Linkin Park, start with the Hybrid Theory album. And then Sixx A.M., they are amazing!! Chester will bring the chills with his amazing vocals! R.I.P. Chester.
Shepherd of fire, and the stage from avenged sevenfold
