He shouldn't of been so critical of Brian and Dennis after hi being drunk in the early days on stage, not sure if his second wife got anything after he passed, that's when his children took over,I don't think they had any together.
I recently read a comment where the writer was surprised that Carl showed emotion in one song. That person either watched the wrong way or didn't know the Beach Boys. Carl showed emotion whenever he was acting, singing or having his brothers by his side.
Carl not only had a sweet, full voice and was a terrific lead guitarist but more importantly had the disposition to be the peacemaker between his brother(s) and Cousin Mike. No easy task.
I actually met Carl Wilson and I was so happy to have shared a little time with him. It now feels like a great blessing - just around the time of this performance. RIP, dear Carl.
This one of my favorite songs from the boys, Carl had a great voice and was an amazing lead. I am so sad I never got to hear him live but this is a great video and an awesome rendition. RIP Carl and Dennis Wilson. I am forever you fan.
I just love this faster version. It makes me want to get up & dance, as do most of their songs. Is it possible to fall in love with a persons voice because I believe I have with Carl's. It is so beautiful, especially on ballads. It touches your heart & soul. I so regret not seeing the Beach Boys in person, with all the Wilson's or even with just Carl & Brian. Those days are long gone now & it makes me sad. RIP Carl & I hope you know how much you're missed on this earth. :(
When i die i hope i will I finally meet Carl Wilson .. I never met him in this life .. but he fills my life with love and happiness with his wonderful and lovely voice. He is truly an angel.
From the waist up, he's playing left handed.....from the waist down, his feet are playing right handed...does that make sense? Hope so... On more thing.....he's playing on a right handed drum set.
Carl Dean Wilson 1946 - 1998 Sang like an angel, sang with lots of soul. The glue that held the group together through hard times. We will not see his like again.
Carl Wilson always lived up to what is written on his gravestone that he had the voice of an angel. When needed he could pour the gravel into the lyrics.
"Darlin" Carl Dean Wilson, turns 67 years old today December 21st, 2013. Singing with the angels no doubt. Thank you, Brian, Dennis and Carl for a lifetime of cherished memories.
Carl Wilson is fucking AWESOME in this! He was always excellent in the music with the Boys and Solo stuff. The guy had a voice, so unique, sweet & rock and roll! No one has! RIP Carl Wilson. Love. The Ladykillers!
So glad I got to see all of the original group just before Dennis passed on. Will always remember the great concert they gave, including this song. Carl's vocal range was so cool and beautiful.
Carl grew into his God given talent! Once he left the group then returned, he began to really kill it! He me how to purr like a kitten or growl like a lion! RIP
F%^K yes!!!!!! Damn I so love hearing Carl sing this song! The energy in this performance is just amazing!! I would say Knebworth 80 has to be within the top 5 rock concerts of all time and that's says alot for my taste.
Ahhhh Carl Wilson Singing ! 1st Band I Got into ... Beach Boys ..My 1st Love in Rock-N-Roll . Thats Been Since Late 60s and 70s + 80s and to Presant.. Love Ya !
they were the best live band at that time, hero's and Villein's live is amazing no band could do that today live Genius Brian Wilson wrote some of the best songs ever
I had my first good job when i was working in saudi arabia in the 80s. Not a lot to do but drink and listened to the beach boys a lot. I got back from vacation and as soon as i got to my villa i heard of Dennis Wilson leaving us, and i felt the beauty and also the fragile nature of this life we have.
so sad I never got see them live but so happy that they made all the lovely music........still have it blasting in the car....................... Thank-you BB's
If Carl was still alive, he would be more revered now than he ever was in his life. Such a great voice and gentle soul.
0:47 Seem he's lookin' Brian
Bless him
He shouldn't of been so critical of Brian and Dennis after hi being drunk in the early days on stage, not sure if his second wife got anything after he passed, that's when his children took over,I don't think they had any together.
Great piece of sentiment.

That was one sentence. I’m confused. What, exactly are you trying to say!
I recently read a comment where the writer was surprised that Carl showed emotion in one song. That person either watched the wrong way or didn't know the Beach Boys. Carl showed emotion whenever he was acting, singing or having his brothers by his side.
Man, I love it when Carl roars out "more soul than I ever had!" at 1:05. Sounds great. Carl was brilliant
Yes that one line alone was sung with his soul, grace and grit.
Yep, heard this as a kid. Never a better line sung in musical history. The Power!
always love that bit!!!
That and “EVERY NIGHT! I KEEP THINKIN’ BOUT DARLIN’!”
Yea…he got into it!
In a perfect world Carl Wilson would live and make music forever.
Carl not only had a sweet, full voice and was a terrific lead guitarist but more importantly had the disposition to be the peacemaker between his brother(s) and Cousin Mike. No easy task.
That's the task of most middle siblings.
Mike Love is STILL a horses ass!
@@scoop1127 I didn't say he was the middle child but thanks.
Carl has middle kid energy even if he wasn’t that in his family. He was the quintessential empath and peacemaker.
Possibly the best Beach Boys live performance ever captured. I’ve seen thousands, and I don’t say that lightly.
Wow. Coming from a no-one that means so much.
@@sodd1000possibly the most moronic statement I’ve yet seen on RUclips.
The Kings of facial hair!! This is easily one of the Beach Boys best ever tracks. Jeez Carl Wilson could sing. Brilliant.
Still a sound nonpareil after so many decades. Man, Carl can sing! Long live an American original, The Beach Boys!
Can't stop watching this, Carl is perfect, Dennis is awesome!
Susan Redding Knebworth I could hear it from my house
For Sure !
And watching in glorious 240p only makes it better. Lol.
Dennis💙!
when Dennis is drumming, he puts so much energy into it.
Carl always the coolest. RIP buddy
I actually met Carl Wilson and I was so happy to have shared a little time with him. It now feels like a great blessing - just around the time of this performance. RIP, dear Carl.
so lucky!
It must be awesome to have memories to remember about Carl.
You're a lucky lady.
❤⭐⭐🌹
Every night, oh darlin'.
@kasmiril Would you write to me and share a few impressions and personal feelings you had from him?
How'd you meet him??
This song brings out the star in Carl's voice.I'm so glad Darlin' was written.
Dennis slamming those drums and gorgeous Carl
Go Carl! His voice is awesome on this song and he proves that he is the glue that held this band together.
Carl just rocks. Period.
The Beach Boys will always be America's band. No band represented America more than them.
Brother Carl at his finest. When these Boys from Hawthorn raise their voices in glorious harmony, it is like a shot of Heaven! thanks
Dennis played the hell outta those drums,,,Carl sang it with the same sense of urgency. Thanks be to Flip for providing this tune.
This one of my favorite songs from the boys, Carl had a great voice and was an amazing lead. I am so sad I never got to hear him live but this is a great video and an awesome rendition. RIP Carl and Dennis Wilson. I am forever you fan.

God Only Knows, Good Vibrations 💕🌹🙏
I don't. It's too fast.
Joan, yes it is! I'm a straight male,
and would KILL to have 10% of Carl's
vocal skill!
steve
Yup. Faster version is rock !
You can! But you need to share him!
When i die i hope i will I finally meet Carl Wilson .. I never met him in this life .. but he fills my life with love and happiness with his wonderful and lovely voice. He is truly an angel.
Carl makes this song his own.I love dennis's unique way he plays the drums.
From the waist up, he's playing left handed.....from the waist down, his feet are playing right handed...does that make sense? Hope so...
On more thing.....he's playing on a right handed drum set.
Carl Dean Wilson
1946 - 1998
Sang like an angel, sang with lots of soul.
The glue that held the group together through hard times.
We will not see his like again.
1980 (The year of this clip) was their best tour ever. They were all there including Brian!
Carl Wilson always lived up to what is written on his gravestone that he had the voice of an angel. When needed he could pour the gravel into the lyrics.
Carl Wilson is beyond words...Im speechless
RIP Carl, your voice was inimitable
Always preferred this to the album version. Carl rocks.
Here you really see what Carl added to the group. Excellent voice. RIP Carl.
I love the way Carl raunches it up here, dog gone out of site indeed!
1968.Playing this song over and over on my parents stereo. What memories.
I almost think this is Carl's signature song on stage, rather than God Only Knows. He really lets loose vocally on this performance in particular.
RIP Carl! No one could sing this song like you!
Carl Wilson- wonderful voice and lovely man. Greatly missed.
Carl is still pure gold. This became my Anthem and I too fell in love with him. I melt at every viewing of this song!

So glad I got to see all of the original group just before Dennis passed on. Will always remember the great concert they gave, including this song. Carl's vocal range was so cool and beautiful.
beautiful song with great lyrics. How much more romantic can a man get than saying to a woman "I was living like half a man"
Best live concert by The Beach Boys. They were on their game here....great stuff.
Dennis looks so intense on those drums, great!
25 years ago today the world lost Carl, but he will never be forgotten!
God I miss him! One of the highlights of my LIFE was meeting him. The voice and heart of an angel.
My god , I could watch this and listen over and over again. RIP to the master Carl Wilson
I'm here because of, you know that band, The Beach Boys?

F%^K yes!!!!!! Damn I so love hearing Carl sing this song! The energy in this performance is just amazing!! I would say Knebworth 80 has to be within the top 5 rock concerts of all time and that's says alot for my taste.
I think the year before was a tad better 😉
This song and the Wild Honey album is the soundtrack of my youth.
Knebworth is a village and civil parish in the north of Hertfordshire, England, immediately south of Stevenage.
