- Newly released bodycam video shows an Ohio dog owner's furious reaction after her yellow Lab, Dixie, was gunned down by a cop. Dixie's owner, Tammie Kerns, says her four yellow Labs ran out of her house and were being rounded up when a cop pulled over. Dixie ran towards the officer and was shot. Within moments angry neighbors came out to vent their anger at the cop who shot the beloved family dog. Now, protestors are calling for the officer to be prosecuted for animal cruelty. The officer says he feared for his safety.

Countless dogs get out of the house in America. In a normal neighborhood, the dog runs around a bit, some nearby residents pet it, and the owners grab it and take it back inside. But when a psycho cop happens to see it from his car, your dog is dead. Who's fault is it?

What you should do is control the situation before it happens (ie: leash, holding the dogs, fences) especially when you know that a dog going near a police officer is never a good sign. Dogs do bite. Dogs could rarely be a threat but it's a threat nonetheless.
My Chocolate Lab loves meeting new people. She's the sweetest little girl you will ever meet. However, when she wants to get Mommy and Daddy's attention, she will definitely let us know it. Labs love making friends, and Dixie probably assumed this officer was her new best pal. 💔💘

The baby was just running around the yard. She was definitely not "charging" him like he claimed. This infuriates me and breaks my heart at the same time. What bothers me about this is I am a legal gun carrier. In my state I don’t think I would’ve been justified for this. And rightfully so. You had enough time with that dog approaching you that you could have pulled out your pepper spray or a taser. I carry pepper spray for that exact reason. There’s a lot of loose wildlife in my neighborhood. I live in Colorado Springs at the base of a mountain. We have mountain lions and bobcats and coyotes all around this neighborhood. Yes I carry a firearm but in a case like this I feel like you had enough time to pull out a less lethal weapon
