This makes the story even more interesting. It shows how there are two types of people that have been abused. People like Alister that have been abused and become abusive and manipulative themselves, or people like Airad that have been abused but are trying to get better and not be victimized again. Obviously, Alister is awful and nothing excuses what he’s done to Airad, but I feel bad for him because nothing was his fault to begin with.
It also seems like his relationship with Brier is also very complex. They did love each other, but Brier was the one who stole the cane, and Alister probably just started to be kind with her to get the cane back. There might’ve been some manipulation in that relationship as well. Seriously, literally the only healthy relationship we see so far is Nim and Airad lol.
As for the song and the video, I still love the style and the songs are getting even better each time! I mean, all the songs and videos are amazing, but I can both see and hear improvements, and I can tell that there is a lot of care and work going into this series!

They say that abuse is a cycle. Sadly, Alistair was dealt a crappy hand and he was not able to rise above it. However, Airad chose not to become the abuser herself.

Does the Anger cane have anything to do with the fact that whoever wields it does some violent stuff? I mean Allisters Parents Hit him Allister hit Airad , the rose queen is well the rose queen and Airad killed Allister with it...

I have never clicked on a video so fast! Also Alister is a real piece of work, isn't he? I guess Briar has been manipulating everyone since the very beginning, hasn't she? And Alister just played right into her hands. Seems to me he was just another pawn for Briar to play with and then Airad got in the way and spoiled her plans. And once again your voice is freakin BEAUTIFUL.
He sure is a piece of work, haha. And Brier is a very manipulative person, but so are pretty much all the other characters in Threnody...everybody has their own motives, and do what they have to go to get what they want. Thank you so much! That's such a lovely compliment

I kinda feel bad for all of them? Looks is that kind of story that someone is hurt or abused and desperate to find a solution and happiness, and in the process abuses and hurt others instead of breaking the cycle, then the new abused looks for revenge that leads to more revenge and shit goes down :( also, who trapped Brier in her own castle? She stoled the cane in hopes to it brake the sigil? Are all the characters embodied metaphors of hardships in life? O.o

The only things I don't understand is how the vampires are royalty. What do they rule? Also, what happened to the facial markings or masks on the parent vampires? Are they a hunting thing only?
Yeah, that stuff is only for when they are hunting or on a mission. The vampires have their own little "clan" that they rule over. x

Wow! So after watching this and rewatching it, I can finally see that, for starters, he was kidnapped as a baby by the vampires who killed his real parents, then was used and abused by said vampires, and when the cane of power was stolen (by Queen Brier herself!) he was kicked out and was led to the very person who stole the cane! What a twist!! I love it!!! 💖💜❤️🤍

(Long post warning!! ;w;)
Okay okay okay, I get it's called the 'Anger Cane' but what if it isn't just anger and instead just amplifies bad emotions? Like for Duke it didn't seem to make him mad, per say, but instead fed on his lust. It fed on Missi's anger and desire to kill Duke(I dunno if the Vampair series is apart of the Threnody series but I'm pretty sure the cane is the same in both universes?). Okay anyways, stick with me, the 'Anger Cane' might've also been what caused Alister to hurt Airad (more than he initially would've) as it played into how his parents abused him (not only because they seem like bad people, but the Anger Cane probably made it worse) and how it also played with Airad and originally amplified her despair, caused by Alister abusing her, and then what made it worse was her finding Alister with Brier and after she had stolen the Cane it made her want to kill Alister since he was the one that hurt it. But after that task was completed, since I don't think she held any resent against Brier (just fear) that it just made her loneliness worse throughout the years even if she hadn't been touching it? Like- The vibes of the place she put it in was just off now.
I like to assume it was called the 'Anger Cane' because anger is such a strong emotion (I'm pretty sure it's the easiest to manipulate too). I'm not really sure if it affected Brier since I don't think I've ever seen her hold it with her own hands but my theory is that if she did it could've made her more powerful and amplify her greed whereas if Nim got hold of it, if she wasn't doing any better with Airad, it would make her even more sad and lonely and it might actually cause her to go through with her original recipe and kill Airad.. If that's true then maybe Brier is okay with Airad and Nim being friends for now because in Airad's song it said how Brier can see through the roses, and roses were shown at the end of Nim's song (even if just as a teaser). So in conclusion, I believe that Brier knows about the friendship and is planning on ruining it somehow. Maybe with the cane.
TL;DR- Anger Cane actually makes more than just anger, Brier knows about Airad and Nim, Alister is bad guy but because of cane and parents, Brier is just a flower that needs to wilt faster. ( But this is just my theory :D )
Don't worry about the long post - I'm sure the ghoulfriends will like reading it ;) it's more detailed then the usual theory so it's fun.
The anger cane is definitely a catalyst for bad behaviour, that much I'll say. There is a reason some people are more affected than other, though...it will be revealed later on. And regarding if Brier has held the cane properly, she definitely has. She, however, is not the same as the others...she's not exactly a person, perse...:P

What a spoiled brat, but at the same time, I feels sorry for young Alister, taken in infancy to become a vampire's heir and never knowing being valued as a person, rather than an asset to a cause. And just looking at Airad being scared into silence at the end, knowing what was coming for Alister... I was smiling. "Get ready to die with that arrogant smile wiped off your face forever." was my train of thought.
This has been my favorite of the Threnody series so far, apart from Nim's entry right at the start.

Because you never got something (**Alister**, never got the power he yearned for)
Because you lost something (Nim, lost peace of mind, do to loss of sanity)
But there are those who aren't either or are both (**Airad** got what she wanted but game it away because it wasn't good for her; **Brier** never got to rule how she wanted but also lost he freedom and love)
I guess it is up to time, to tell how how these cups fair, the cup that got too full was already broken by a cup filled with its poisonious wine...
As for the video itself, I liked the others more, I guess this one wasn't as vibrant as the others.
But when looked as it's own piece, it was a joy to watch. Thanks for bringing it to life, Missmi cutie.

Once again, another great piece of work. Once again, we get to see the villains point of view. As much as a cruel person Alister, it's interesting to see why he acted the way he did. To paraphrase Eugene McCabe, 'you can understand him, but not forgive'. I like the different music used here, the faster pace and upbeat tone makes me think of haste and, in this case, overconfidence/arrogance. Once again, awesome work here 👍.
Yeah, for sure - I use the phrase "Explains their actions, doesn't excuse them" for Alister. And this is my favourite Threnody song 'cus it's so fast and boppy lol thank you!

I've always wondered about the "born already dead" line. Is the implication that vampires can be born as well as turned? Or is the following scene of them taking an infant they getting Alister and they just kept him human until he reached a good age? He looks human when we see him as a kid.
Alister was kidnapped as a baby and kept human until he reached a good age. The "born already dead" line is metaphorical, suggesting from the moment he was born his fate was sealed to never live a life properly

Is there a connection between the cane in the Vampair (Vampier?) series and the cane in this series? They seem similar in design and corruption abilities.
I've had a few theories brewing in my head for a while: what if the soul of Allister or some other vampire resides in the cane in the Vampair series? What if the vampire family that was shown in Episode 4 of the Vampair series (Voltaire's clan) stole the cane and altered its appearance? Would there be a war between Vampire Families/Clans if they found out what the cane's powers can do? It seems to grant the user the ability to manipulate shadows and change their surroundings, but what if that isn't all it can do. What if the stronger the vampire is, the more power the cane can give?

This one is the saddest. Grew up in a lower upper class home, Reminds me of my growing up, the beatings when something was lost and not even my fault...our cat batted his keys under the fridge once and I got the blame from the belt, still have scars since it was metal tipped belt. I have a theory: each character has a mental issue.
Nim is depressive.
Airad suffered abuse. She's probably the sanest person of this story.
Brier is a tyrant. She's royalty so she thinks she's above everyone and can do everything that she wants, without caring if it's right or wrong ("Can they not see I'm royalty how dare they treat me wrong!"). And she has trust issues ("I hate comradery, they all abandon me, if not I know it's just a false sense of security"), that's why she's so deadpan on avenging the one person she loved and trusted.
Alister is a sociopath: he only thinks of doing like his parents: "I have the cane and a queen I have won". I think he can't feel emotions: "how [...] do we feel such a need to survive and remain ?". That would explain why he barely talks about Brier or Airad in his song, he doesn't and cannot love them, they're just "the one in charge" and "a queen" (not even "my" queen). They're pawns to him to get what he wants (the cane and power for Brier and someone to lure people and turn them into vampires for Airad). I guess Brier cannot be turned into a vampire, is too strong, or he knows he cannot subdue her, or else he wouldn't have needed Airad.
He has an inferiority complex, he repeatedly says that "he's not dumb", that he wants responsibilities, that he can help, that he's "feeling like a nobody".
All of this because of his parents, who kept on mistreating him, both physically and mentally.
I will also say that he is not born a vampire, because he was abducted and we see that he was human in his childhood (1:17). His "parents" must have lied to him, but I found it odd that he doesn't think twice on it. Maybe he's lying to himself on that account.
That's just how I see things, I may be completely off the mark. I love the songs, you can really see how they entwined with each other, that's really good! (Sorry if I misspelt, I'm french).
You're not off the mark at all, this series is 100% about mental illness and Brier's name (Brier Eldon) is an anagram for borderline aka borderline personality disorder, the disorder I struggle with. So you are definitely getting somewhere with this theory - and you didn't spell anything wrong, your English is great xx

I had been waiting for Alister's turn to tell the tale and was not disapointed at all! Like I feared, he is one of those people that were abused and mistreated, began with good intentions but were unable to break the cycle in the end (a.k.a. he became a total bastard). I hope Airad succeds in breaking it, at least. But I guess for that we will have to see how her relationship with Nim evolves. Maybe my fear for the lovely ladies future is a personal paranoia but I can see how their friendship could go terribly wrong... Let's hope for the best!

It appears as if it really all does begin with the rose queen, doesn't it? She stole the staff. She set things in motion. The question is why? Is she that obsessed with causing pain and misery? And could it be because she alone was still trapped at the castle and could only use her power to lure others to try to make them do her dirty work? Could that be why he was so abusive? But then again, maybe not. After all, he was caught with the rose queen in an affair, so she can't have been bound yet. It must have happened after, which means Airad betrayed her and somehow cast that spell. I look forward to finding out more in the next one. :D

This part seems to me the best from the point of view of the song.All the parts are beautiful, both in terms of visual and musical, but this is something memorable, singing at a height! :3

One thing I notice is how while the lyrics ends a bit more triumph. The instrumentals ends a bit much more somber. Like it represents how he think he add it all, but it was far from the truth.

Awh thank you, my birthday was pretty hard tbh >-< I was really suicidal and stuff wasn't great. I'm glad it's over now to be honest, hopefully next year I will be able to be in Israel as planned and can avoid the whole loneliness shebang. I'm glad you're excited for the new episode and hopefully if all goes to plan The Showdown won't be THAT much longer, either. Daria has been working nonstop on it, not even posting speedpaints etc so she can focus on it

No vampire is born in the Threnody world, they are all kidnapped as babies and turned at the appropriate age XP vampires cannot "grow" otherwise

I just realized that there might be a connection between the Threnody universe and the Voltaire universe (Daria Cohen's universe. I couldn't think of a better name for it.). The cane in this one might be the same one that used to be in Duke's hands and is now in Missi's, but it's appearance must have changed do to it's owners or something. Unless it's a different cane, I'd say that the ones (or at least one of them) who possessed it, may have modified it's appearance. If that's the case, then the Threnody timeline must take place before Duke's time. I could be wrong.
Yes, there is a confirmed connection between them (we talk about it in livestreams, mostly) and Threnody is indeed set in the past before Duke's time. As for the name of the series, it's not called the Voltaire Universe - half the songs aren't even made by him - but the "Vampair series"

The song repeats and is the same with only a few changes at most, until the very end, which is the biggest turning point, both literal and emotionally. Because of the lyric changes, the ending stands out more. I don’t really have much else to say, that’s just the writing technique that I noticed you used.
