Ladies, gents, and non-binary royalty, we got some LORE this episode! Before I get to analyzing, I would just like to say that I absolutely love this video! The art, the story, the music, ACK IT’S SO GOOD I’M FREAKING OUT OVER HERE!!!!! Also, I may or may not have a slight crush on Angileh now… ANYWAYS-
I watched this a few times to make sure I got a decent understanding, because this is definitely a complex story here, so if I missed anything or if you have your own idea, feel free to reply!
Okay, so Angileh’s family had been serving this Empress and is represented by these light pink butterflies. As the song states, Angileh was gonna have to serve her eventually. To prove that she’d serve the Empress, she went through the painless process of having her eye scared by the Empress herself. The eye now is in the shape of a butterfly and grants her a boost of power (which we will get into in a bit 😉)
It also seems like the relationship between these two is complex. Angileh is serving her, but it almost seems like she isn’t happy about it at the same time. Either that, or she’s frustrated that she can’t quite get in touch with the Empress. By the sound of it, the Empress was physically present for a long time, but now she’s only there through spirit and cannot be as direct as before. It’s like her physical body died but she isn’t quite dead. Regardless, Angileh is a powerful warrior and isn’t gonna be taken down so easily. She isn’t one to give up, no matter how difficult things may be. It also doesn’t seem like much affects her or corrupts her. As she said, she’s not listening to the wining threnody, so she’s just as strong emotionally and mentally as she is physically.
The Empress at the moment doesn’t seem like a bad person. In fact, she seems like she’s a good guy. She’s portrayed with a softness and gentleness with the light colors, the butterflies, and the way she delicately holds Angileh’s head. She was also the one responsible for keeping the artifacts contained.
These artifacts have actually been hinted at throughout the series, and in Part 6: Eton, we can see the cupcakes representing each artifact. In the past, these artifacts were actual people using their powers in negative ways, except for the one that looks like a sun. To prevent them from wreaking havoc, all of them were contained in these items and gifted to different species. Brier was trapped in a parasol that was gifted to the fey. Eton was trapped in shoes (the same shoes Nim is wearing and that Brier gave to her) and was gifted to witches/mages. Another was trapped in the anger cane and gifted to the vampires. The only other ones we haven’t actually seen yet with the current story are the shell cloak gifted to the sirens/mermaids (correction: they’re selkies, hence the cloak) and a hat that I think was gifted to angels (correction: humans, not angels). Of course, not all these artifacts were safely stowed away.
Angileh’s home was destroyed, and I have a strong feeling this was done by Brier. Either that, or someone came to kill the Empress and figure out where the artifacts were hiding, which was how Brier was able to be freed. Brier was also able to get hold of the shoes Eton was trapped in. Angileh knew that this was her call, that this was the mission she was set out to do. She managed to find Brier, but with that extra boost of power we talked about earlier, she has Brier trapped in the force field we saw in Part 3. Of course, this lead to Brier stealing the anger cane and giving Nim the shoes. She wants power to escape, but to also just become an all powerful queen to rule over the lands. She is the only artifact that is free, after all.
Angileh has been keeping her eye out though, as we see her watching Nim from a distance in Part 6 when she has the shoes. Angileh’s job is to trap the artifacts once again to prevent anymore destruction and misfortune, and as we’ve seen throughout the series, that’s exactly what happens whenever the artifacts are involved. It made the vampires power hungry and would make them do anything to keep the cane, even if it meant hurting or killing each other. It makes Nim slip into insanity, and makes her kill others for love. Nothing good has come so far from these artifacts, and Angileh wants to end the threnody.
Holy mother of pearl that was a lot! Sorry this was so long, but there was a lot to unpack here and I didn’t want to skip out on anything. Once again, thank you guys so so much for making this beautiful series! I’m happy to see how much it has grown I’ve the past few years, and I’m always excited to see what’s in store. You've got it down though! Everything is pretty much accurate, though I'll let you know that the siren/mermaid type figures you mentioned that were given depression are actually selkies! The coat is a selkie cloak, that's why it has a seal type pattern. :)

Ok from what I got here from my understanding:
-Angileh is like a knight that was appointed by this 'empress' to make the lands be safe
-The artifacts are kinda op, and needs to be contained.
-She contained Brier and got her artifact.
-Apparently, I'm getting that Angileh questions the 'Empress'. Like she has the power. Why not let her do it?
-Angileh is targeting or after Nim because she poseses an artifact. But we see in Eton's song she has been there watching Nim, but hasn't made a move yet.
So this raises questions. Like a lot of questions.
Who is the empress?
Why isn't she showing up or kinda do anything? And what happens when they get all the artifacts if they do contain it?
How did Nim get her Artifact?
Cant wait for more!

You understand great, and the questions are good questions ;) They will be answered through the next few Threnody songs. Nim got her artifact from Brier, who gifted it to her as part of a deal (shown in part six)

I couldn't help but wonder what was meant by "the artifacts they cannot die," does this mean Eton and Brier are immortal? Or are they some sort of manifestation of the artifacts they hold? I find this line raises some interesting questions and I'm curious what other people might think it means? Other than that, fantastic work, this was well worth the wait.
It means exactly what it says - the artifacts cannot die. They can't be killed. They can only be contained XP
personally I interpreted it as the empress created the artifacts to store the people contained within them idk what to call them but they could also be manifestations of the artifacts like you said and I think that's a cool point of view
@@Missmi I suppose this does explain some things. Please excuse me if my information is outdated. If Thernody is a prequel to Daria Cohen’s vampire series. It would explain how the anger cane wound up in Duke’s possession even after so many years.
Okay so, this fills in the timeline. And based on these new puzzle pieces, I have a theory.
First what we know:
There are 5 artifacts:
A military type hat / crown
Candy themed high heeled shoes
A sea-themed coat
The Vampire’s anger cane
A rose themed umbrella.
So I think the timeline goes something like this:
Following the trail of the broken rose umbrella artifact, Angileh encounters Brier
Based on the pink color of the spell that uses Angileh when she reveals the power of the empress, it’s safe to conclude she is the one that made the sigil and the pink barrier that keeps Brier trapped.
At some point in time after, Brier steals the anger cane.
I don’t think she was aware of Alister at the time so I don’t think her motivation for stealing was to attract Alister to her lair? IDK. I think she intended to use the cane to try and break the sigil or something.
Either way, she falls in love with Alister decided to give him the cane (insert the events shown in Part Two and Part 3, and the flashbacks in Part 3)
Flash forward many, many years:
• Nim, poor and ragged runs an unsuccessful bakery. She somehow finds her to Brier’s castle
• Brier gives Nim Eton’s shoes, as part of a deal. She will help Nim find success if Nim promises to break the sigil. With the help of Eton’s candy powers, Nim (now with pink hair and nice clothes) shop flourishes. However this appears to drain her sanity.
• Nim finds a book that says “immortal blood is all it took”. Presumably, this book is the same one seen at the end of Part 3 that has recipe + spell for “cure-all peppermints” which calls for 1/2 cup immortal blood.
•The events shown in Part One, Part Five and Part 6 occur.
Part 6 we get these strange lyrics:
“what’s Bargaining without a Threnody // Denial is a hypocrite, an free a friend but won’t commit”
“I never held such hate in me until Denial donated me // A girl in need of Bargaining, and the way things are so Nim “
“Denial is a hypocrite and she will pay for it”
We get also this interesting shot of cupcakes (at 1:21), of which only three were recognizable as elements of the story. From left to right we have:
Brier, the Anger cane, and Eton (followed by a sea-themed one and a star / sun themed one).
The lyrics with this shot say “the art in artifacts is we attract these hearts we can make powerful”
We get a bit more context for the artifacts in part 7:
“We see you have an artifact, we’re trying to get our one back // but we cannot hear his siren song”
On screen we see the anger cane and Nim’s shoes.
“How long have you known Bargaining, when did you make a deal with him? // Does he know where our angers gone”
The silhouette of Eton appears in front of the shoes and a new horned character appears in front of the cane.
So now we know that Nim’s shoes and the Vampire’s cane are both Artifscts.
The cane contains an entity representing Anger.
The shoes contain Eton, an entity that represents Bargaining.
So that takes us to description of this part that reads:
Don't you hate it when a plant demon that's literally Denial personified is running around causing havoc?
So, Brier is the artifact that represents denial.
And based on the broken umbrella artifact, she found a way to break free.
I want to direct your attention back to the cupcakes from part six. From left to right we have:
Brier, the artifact of Denial- once contained in an umbrella given to the fairies
????, the artifact of Anger - contained in a cane given to the vampires
Eton, the artifact of Bargaining - contained in high heels given to the witches
????, the artifact of ???? - contained a cape given to the mermaids
????, the artifact of ???? - contained in a military style hat - crown given to humans
Denial… anger… bargaining…. Those are the first of the five stages of grief.
So following that pattern, the mermaids got Sorrow and the humans got Acceptance.
We see powers Denial, Anger, Bargaining, and Sorrow at 1:35 :
Denial is roses/ plants
Anger is fire
Bargaining is… candy
Sorrow is water / oceans.
But what about Acceptance?
Well going with the theme on the cupcake, their theme is the sun / stars.
Which are the source of very intense light.
And The Empress is associated with light. A light that can blind you if you stare directly at it. Like the sun.
So we have:
Brier, the artifact of Denial- once contained in an umbrella given to the fairies
????, the artifact of Anger - contained in a cane given to the vampires
Eton, the artifact of Bargaining - contained in high heels given to the witches
????, the artifact of Sorrow - contained a cape given to the mermaids
The Empress, the artifact of Acceptance - contained in a military style hat - crown given to humans
Or something like that.
Definitely think the five stages of grief are what the five artifacts represent.
The details might be wrong but who cares. It’s just my current interpretation lol

You are definitely getting somewhere with this! This is very accurate - though I'll tell you that the sorrow/depression artifact was given to the selkies, not the mermaids. Mermaids stay in Mermicide, they don't belong in Threnody XP

I love some of the details you fit in the series, small stuff like Nim's heart shaped pupils and Angileh's heart eye patch, the gleam of the knife back in the redo of part one, the pointed ears on the vampires and the way you work threnody into every song. Tons of little details I just adore. I also really like Angileh's design, especially the cloak.
The little details are super important to me, especially the hearts and stuff. And haha, you know one lyric from each Threnody song before it's even released! The word Threnody 💖

The artifacts killed her family yes, they couldn't fight them properly and lost the battle
So much lore, so much lore, so much lore!!!!! I have a new favorite Threnody, and Angileh has won her place as my absolute favorite Threnody character! Beautiful singing as always, and gorgeous art. I can't wait to see more! This series is beautiful and I love seeing how it unfolds!!

As I was creating this one I was like 'yeah, the fans are gonna flip'
Soooo....the cane of anger was given to the vampires, the parasol of denial to the faes, the shoes of bargaining to the witches, the robe of depression to the merfolks, and the cap of acceptance to humans. I wonder why each of the artifacts was given to the specific species. I suppose it's because each of the species were most resistant to the powers of the artifacts? But then again, considering that Nim is a witch and is affected by Eton, I am not too sure. Or maybe Nim is not really a witch. She only starts looking like a confectionary witch after she gets the shoes after all.
The merfolk are actually selkies in the Threnody world XP I keep mermaids to my novel. And Nim is a human with the witch artifact so is only borrowing that power
@@Missmi Oh selkies? You know, knowing they're selkies, it makes sense why they are given the artifact of depression. The selkies' love stories never end happily ever after and there is always an element of tragedy to it.

1:38 curious how we only see 4 entities here, considering there are five artifacts. Maybe the Empress is the fifth artifact or some aspect of herself is in the fifth artifact?

Okay so after re-watching the whole series a few times, I think I started to get the main idea of the plot. Now I would appreciate it if u could tell me in case I got anything horribly wrong Mina xD
An unspecified amound of time ago the artifacts were free, roaming around causing chaos and destruction.(4 of them definitely were, we still don't know exactly how Acceptance was behaving). Then, a magically powered (good willing?) Empress declared that these 5 beings of incredible powers (who were proabably brining misery into the world) be captured and contained/sealed in a number of artifacts (a pair of shoes, a cane etc.). These artifacts were then handed out across the world to different species (Vampires ~ they got the Anger Cane, Witches/Mages ~ Bargaining Fairies ~ Denial, -Mermaids- Selkie ~Cape etc.) as to help them (since the artifacts posseded incredible powers) and/or guard them (making sure they aren't freed or fall in the wrong hands) . What wasn't (proabably) known were the side effects, in that the artifacts would corrupt the user/wearer (in a certain way) the more it was used(proabably due to the origin of the power of the artifacts, that being the entities which brought misery). The Empress also formed a group of warriors/knights who's purpose were to keep the artifacts in good hands (and more importantly the entities contained), the role of this "defender/knight" was passed on from generation to generation. The knight having to have their eye scarred (in a butterfly i think?) as to show their loyalty for the Empress, thus also obtaining some of her magic/being granted an ability (as to use that magic to do her biding [force people to do what she said]).
An unspecified amount of time later, one of these powerful entities managed to free herself(? alone or with help) from her artifact. (possibly also the leader of the entities and the most powerful one). This was denial(who was given to ferries). Who later dubbed herself "Queen".
The order in which the 2 following events occur isn't specified.
1. Denial, manages to obtain the artifact of bargaining (Eton- who was given to witches), but can't commit (isn't willing to) free him from the artifact(the shoes). (Proabably because she doesn't believe in comradery, as everyone she ever had before betrayed her. So she doesn't trust him)
2. Denial is found by the Knight (Angileh) of the Empress (who we pressume is now dead/gone missing [?]). They have a confrontation, (with Denial of course wanting to remain free). Denial gets the winning hand for a second, managing to disarm the Knight, who then proceeds to use the eye power the Empress gave her. Thus imprisoning Denial in a force field[sigil - thus containing her].
Imo 2 happened before 1.
Being imprisoned Denial uses her powers (to control roses), as to get her hands on the other artifacts. At the same time, in a vampire kingdom (? or village, or city), that is ruled by 2 (royalty) vampires who posses the Anger Cane. The 2 leaders(Grinvoes) of the vampire settlement, decide to have a child (they steal a human child and make him a vampire). This kid is named Allister, who is fascinated ( to the point of obsession) with the Anger cane. Over the years he becomes more and more interested in it, wanting to get the chance to have/use it, despite his parents disapproval . One night, the Anger cane is stolen (by Denial/Brier's roses/rose vines). Everyone (including Alister's parents) blame him. As they believe his obsession made him steal and hide the anger cane all for himself. He is beaten and banished.
As he was wondering (while badly hurt/injured), he comes across a town of roses (where he can feel the presence/influence of the Anger cane). He goes closer and there he meets Denial/Brier. She offers to give him the cane and help him create his own town of vampire's to rule over. He agrees. Due to his injuries, Alister goes to a human settlement (more specifically a hospital), where he meets a nurse named Airad. They fall in love together, and for them to be together for eternity Alister transforms Airad into a vampire as well (along with getting married).
Eventually they move together in the vampire town (proabably close to Brier's kingdom where she is [still] trapped). Over time the Anger cane ... transforms Alister. He becomes more mean, hurtful and abusive (both physically and mentally) towards Airad. While becoming more attracted to Brier/Denial. Eventually Brier and Alister have an affair behind Aired's back. She gets angry (and decides she has had enough of these 2), she gets the Anger cane and uses it to murder Allister. She runs away from the Rose kingdom, as to get far away from Denial. (Who was furious when she found out.) Airad rests/lives alone in a castle, feeding off of animals' blood to survive despite feeling horribly about it. She is still haunted by Alister and his love, due to now being forced to suffer forever as an immortal being, feeding on helpless creatures.
(Whether or not she still posses the anger cane is up for debate as we haven't seen her with it? And the Grinvoes claim to not be able to hear/find it even tho they know where Airad is).
One day(centuries later~according to Airad), a poor girl running a bakery that was about to close down due to lack of customers, her name being Nim. She comes across the Rose kingdom. This is where she meets Denial, with whom she makes a deal. The deal being, Denial would give her (Nim) the artifact of bargaining, powered by Eton (which would give her magical powers and help her become a witch). In return Nim would learn magic and find out how to break the spell/force field keeping Denial trapped.
Over time, Nim starts to lose her sanity and humanity due to the effectes of the Artifact and Eton (who wants to be free, and is resentful of Denial for not freeing him and using him as a bargaining chip [hah the irony!was this intentional?]). Her shop has flourished, getting her out of poverty. One night Nim tries to make a potion (she hopes to use to restore her sanity/keep herself from going more insane), which requires vampire blood(the blood of an immortal), in her search she comes across Airad and her castle. Airad talks to Nim, explaining how she has been alone for so long (centuries?), and while she can't give her blood to Nim, she thinks they can help eachother and support eachother. And instead Airad asked Nim to dance. From here their friendship (maybe more? 👀) is formed.
Seeing all this (through her roses) Brier/Denial is more furious than ever. Seeing her disciple befriending the person she wants to kill most. (We see in Part 3 how Denial is already making imaginary plans of how she would kill Airad)
To help Airad with her blood hunger, Nim started to let Airad drink her own blood. Later she starts to lure man in her bakery shop and then kill them. Collecting their blood for Airad. This has been deteriorating Nim's mental even more.
Eton also gets more angrier and resentful by the day. Wanting his freedom back. And already planning on how he will kill Nim once he and Denial escape(aren't contained/trapped anymore).
About this time, we find out the Grivoes (Alister's parents, the old Royalty as they lost the cane) have a new son. (who grows resentful and hateful knowing they stole him from his real family, wanting to break free of them and get revenge). Since the cane was stolen, more and more vampires have been starving. Thus the 2 royalty come to Nim(as they saw she has an Artifact [Eton/Bargaining] and blood [the one she had dor Airad]). As to force her to give them blood, and try to find out what happened to their Anger cane (hoping Eton would know). They do this along with threatening to attack Airad, who is queen (technically) but is not strong enough to protect herself from them (bcs she no longer has the anger cane either?). Their new son, resentful and hateful of them already, knows Nim is not the answer as threatening Bargaining is unwise, and that Nim can not be the answer to their hunger. Thus he teams up with Nim as to kill them. (Despite Nim not really carring apparently). They put silver in some blood which they give to them(bassicly poisoning them).
We can also see the knight/Anglieh has been following Nim/keeping tabs on her. As to make sure she isn't trying to free Denial/isn't evil. Or following her hoping she can retrieve Bargaining from Nim. We also learn that during the knight's travels their kingdom got attacked (which proabably also lead the the disappearance of the Empress, along with her following vanishing - Anhlieh seemingly being the last one).
_One part I didn't understand, is in Part Two. Airad says "She's still ruling over me, the rose queen and her devotee". Who is the devotee? It's not Nim. Is Denial still somehow connect to her last "holder"? _ - Answered by Mina : The reference is metaphorical and reffers to Alister. (who as said previously was in love with denial, and he still haunts her through his actions)
_Did the Empress have magical powers from the start? Or did she gain them from the 5th artifact? The golden/black hat. When we also never saw acceptance._ -Answered by Mina: The Empress had her own powers, which far surpassed those of the 5 artifacts/stages of grief (combined). Thus it means the 5th artifact(Acceptance -given to humans) is still out there.
I know this has been extremely long. Took me also a really long while to make it. Pleas tell me if i missed/got anything wrong Mina ^^'
This is a fantastic observation! I can tell you spent a long time on it, and it's also really helpful to new followers of the series so thank you very much :D
My only points are:
- The 'mermaids' are actually selkies, it's not very clear in the silhouettes but they're seal-like beings instead of mermaids. Mermaids stay in my book Mermicide ;)
- Though the Anger cane does corrupt Alister somewhat, it mostly encourages his behaviour - so he's already a bad person, and it's just amplified.
- Yes the bargaining chip thing was intentional lol
- The Empress isn't confirmed dead, just...not present. She's missing, essentially. Nobody knows where she went or what happened.
- In regards to the 'devotee' bit Airad is talking about Alister, it's metaphorical. Even though he is dead and no longer a threat to her, the trauma he caused her still affects her life and therefore it is like he is 'ruling' over her even after death.
- The Empress had abilities from the very start. She is not an artifact and didn't gain powers from an artifact. She's way stronger than all of them XP

Holy carp! My friend just helped me figure out something BIG. The artifacts... are they based off the five stages of grief? If so, Eton is Bargaining and the guy in the cane is Anger. Brier is probably Denial. And I'll bet the ocean is Depression and the sun is Acceptance.

Okay so Angileh either has an artifact or has been granted a sort of special ability surrounding her eye by an artifact user. And now she is hunting the Artifacts (most specifically Denial) as to imprison them, as she suspects Denial has been the one to kidnap (?) her queen, possibly also the person to give her the special ability? Did i get this right Missmi?
The Empress granted her the ability! And mostly she hunts them because that is the job her ancestors (and herself) have been tasked with.

This makes me question all prior scenes with Brier. This makes it seem like she should be sealed, likely in the parasol, but it seemed like she also was the one who gave Nim the shoes of bargaining with Eaton, who seems effectively invisible to all except Nim, sealed in them, so does that mean Brier isn't the only being/guardian in the Rose castle, or is Brier somehow different from the other artifacts?
Also, just baseless line connecting/theorizing, I'm gonna say it is:

Yes Brier was sealed in the parasol and then the parasol was broken and she escaped. Because it was broken she became 'physical' and could move around in the real world without being bound to an artifact. Eton can only be seen by Nim (and Angileh, as she has the sight) because he is in the artifact she is wearing. x

I just realized this and Idk if others found it super obvious or not, but I thought there is no shame in sharing~
So the 5 artifacts are in fact the 5 stages of grief
• Briar represents Denial, she is getting called that by Eton in his song, she also shows a trait of people who are in denial and that being that she blames other people for the problems she has
• Anger is represented by the Anger Cane
• Eton represents Bargaining, he even calls himself that in his song and shows through his influence on Nim
• Depression is represented by the Selkie Artifact
• Acceptance being the last artifact, the sun one. This also explains why it is more powerful than the other artifacts as it’s the final stage. Also when people reached this stage, they finally overcame their grief and are living in a healthy state of mind again.
I hope that some of you found this helpful and I applaud you for this absolute amazing story line, Missmi! I never saw the stages in such a unique way and I absolutely love how you did this :3

@@Missmi I first thought about siren or mermaids, but then noticed the cloak that Depression got turned into and found out that Selkies fishtails are often portrayed as cloaks! I love how much folklore and detail you put into all of this! It makes it so much fun to watch them all over again, trying to find other details one might missed ♥
I do have a question - in Etons song the line "Denial is a hypocrite, can free a friend but won't commit" is he telling us that Briar would be powerful enough to release the other artifacts but instead used them to strike negotiations with others? She gave Anger to Alister as part of their deal and Eton to Nim, so is she maybe also in possession of Depression?
And immediately she's my favorite character now..

AAAAAAH! THE LORE~ This was fantastic, and I just knew Angileh was gonna be the focus this time; her design in (I wanna say?) episode 6 as just too specific to not be a recurring character. Pardon me while I take stock of and make assumptions about what we've learned:
-Angileh is a part of an order of knights, whose bloodline has served a character known as The Empress for generations
-The Empress isn't around anymore, but she commanded great power, and was likely above the Grief Artifacts in terms of power hierarchy. It doesn't seem like we've encountered her yet.
-The Empress...made the Grief Artifacts? Or they were autonomous beings first which she bound into objects? The Grief Artifacts killed her/disposed of her some other way?
-Each Artifact was guarded by one of the five races: Humans, Vampires, Fairies, Mermaids (not a surprise, given the author's penchant for mermicide ;) ) and...witches? Are witches here a separate race? Is Nim not human?
-Angileh is the last of her order or one of the last, I assume, and she's going around either containing or destroying the Artifacts? Was she the one who sealed Brier behind her sigil to begin with? And now she's targeting Nim because Nim is the holder of Eton and also possibly because she can lead her to Airad and the Anger Cane?
-I'm guessing Mermaids have the Depression Artifact and the Humans have Acceptance, at least based on the color scheme. And following that logic, that likely means the Fairies held Brier/Denial but she got out.
-3:27 is interesting. Someone is pleading with Angileh, it sounds like. My guess is that Angileh is freeing the Grief Artifacts from their object forms in an attempt to punish them somehow for their crimes("You'll set another demon free"), but in actuality this plot for revenge is just making things worse, given how much we've seen Brier alone influence events for the worse.
Feel free to give as much or as little response as you see fit, Miss Rose ^^ All in all a fantastic episode; one of your catchiest in a while.
Yesss, SO much lore this time. You got a lot of these details right! I'll let you know though that 3:27 is actually Angileh talking to Nim, well her thoughts towards Nim and what Nim is doing. Also, the depression artifact is held by the selkies, not the mermaids. Mermaids stay in Mermicide, they don't belong in Threnody. XP

So Missmi, trying to piece some things together and get some answers, along with things from rewatching past videos/installments.
1. "empress with all this power in her hands has her presence still lost and suspended" - is the empress in an artifact? is she what seals the artifacts?
2. Angileh traps/binds Brier w/ empress eye powers - did the empress do this to seal them in the items originally?
3. The empty, abandoned temple to the empress - are all the servants/worshippers dead? (except Angileh)
4. "your soul is not a currency... you'll set another demon free" - did this happen to Brier and what is happening to Nim? I ask because in the Eton video it says "give me soul please" in making Nim more than she'd ever be and w/out Eton being out of her mind - do artifacts empower people to get them to trade their souls and free the artifact'd people.
5. Also the line "as soon as we get out of there your blood will be splashed everywhere" of the previous video - so the removal of a soul does not kill a person? Is this what happened to the Empress, her soul being separated from her body and body being slain or hidden, thus being "lost and suspended"?
1) The Empress is a mysterious figure right now. We don't know much about her except from the fact that she had her soldiers seal the artifacts away.
2) Maybe XP
3) The others have lost faith in the Empress over time due to her absence, but Angileh is still loyal.
4) Yes, this is what happened to Brier. I can't tell you too much about this yet though, you'll have to just speculate!
5) Souls and bodies are separate.
Hope this clears some stuff up. I can't give too much away at this stage though!
Hi! Erragar here again, with another grandiose, out of the box walkabout theorizing! So, reading through a few comments, we've gotten a good deal of information pinned down.. But... going back and listening to older songs with this as the lens leads us to new theories. Hold on to your Artifacts kids, we're goin deep!
- First, we have the scene where Briar's artifact form is broken. One has to wonder how that came to be? One theory is that Angileh somehow broke the artifact during their battle in this song... But there's another theory that's warming the subtickles of my brain. One that changes how you look at a lot of what's been said so far. That theory is that... since Briar is the embodiment of Denial... she literally denied her fate so hard, she broke her OWN item form. She broke herself out of the parasol and incarnated. How do we come to this? Certain things stated by Etan in their song, specifically "Denial is a hypocrite, can free a friend but won't commit", at least now to us here, intones that Denial, AKA... BRIAR has some sort of way to free her friends, but won't fully commit to doing so.
- Our next theory is that Ariad is actually the "Threnody" person that's been hinted at in all the songs. Firstly, nearly every time Threnody is mentioned in the song, it's with a capitol letter T. This is a proper noun... And since Threnody isn't a place or a thing, it has to be a person. Our theory is that Ariad began with healing (An anagram for our current person's name "Angileh" with her letters rearranged is "Healing") in the form of a nurse, she was effected by the anger of Alistair and fell into Denial, until she was overcome with Anger herself and lashed out at Alistair. Afterward she moved back to Denial, hence her line "She's still ruling over me, the rose queen and her devotee" meaning she's under Denial and Anger's rule. She moves to Bargaining during Etan's song, and moves to a dark form of acceptance shortly there after at the beginning of "Blood" Bargaining is Etan's schtick. Each song is her moving through the stages of depression, and it's our theory that she's Threnody, the embodiment of the human psyche, which is why Angileh is hunting Nim and by proxy her. To heal her with the Empress' light, hence why Angileh states she's not the enemy.
- Briar is attempting to BECOME Thenody. Yes, you heard me. Briar hates Ariad, that much we all know. But with more of a burning passion than one should for stealing a side snacc. It's the hatred of someone that is enraged due to envy. Could our theory that Ariad be true, it would stand to reason that Briar hates her for being something Briar could NEVER be.
- Angileh is, in actuality or in spirit, the very Empress she is searching for. We know she recieved the gift from the Empress, but we never see the Empress at all. The Empress vanished without a trace? Empresses don't do that, even in fantasy stories. What if, and this is a stretch, The Empress needed to go under some sort of deep cover to recover the artifacts. Perhaps the were stolen. Briar does seem to have had them all at one point. But, what if she went too far, denying herself with false memories of a family of royal guards, but the swords shown were obviously possessions of Briar and the Selkie (My memory of her name is bad). So the final healing could be between Angileh (Healing, Light, Possible Empress), and Ariad (Possibly Threnody, the embodiment of the human psyche). There's even the off the wall theory that Ariad as Threnody is the physical embodiment of the Empress' lost memories.
That's it guys. Three off the wall theories that I hope hit home and resonate with our resident songstress and animator!

WE HAVE NEW SPECIES!!! A possible water artifact, which could possibly tie in the mermaid series, and possible artifacts meant for the fairies and the humans! Also Brier has an artifact that is a parasol, and that Angileh probably trapped her with the sigil. THIS IS VERY EXCITING!!!

Missed out on a few videos.
When we see the artifacts' original forms, the are only four of them. We know for sure that Brier was contained in the umbrella/parasol and that Eton was contained in the shoes. I'm pretty sure it's safe to say that the one in the back was contained in the cloak, but I'm unsure about the fourth one seen. The colors used in the fire make me think they were contained in the hat, but the black/red clothing make me think of the cane, so I'm not sure [Edit: after rewatching part 6 and seeing the orange in the cane cupcake, I'm leaning towards them being contained in the cane]
Either way, one is still left unaccounted for. There are five artifacts, but only four of the original forms are shown. This feels significant, but I'm not sure how.
Don't really think it means much, but Angileh's color palette is black, yellow (like the hat), white and brown-grey. I'm not really convinced of it actually being the case, but this and the absence of the empress SEEM to be pointing towards the empress herself being contained in the hat.
Again, I don't think this is the case, but I just thought I should point it out

No, no connection - the depression artifact went to the selkies. I chose a different race to mermaids because I think mermaids belong in Mermicide and not the Threnody world. XP

From what I’ve gathered so far, briar broke free from her artifact which was in possession of fairies, then she started collecting the other artifacts from each of the different races that owned them, but rather than free them, she donates The artifacts to people in exchange for Helping break the sigil.

I think the Empress is the human artifact (the hat that look some what like a sun) I think this because of the line. “I would confront her but her light is too splendid” I think this because the 3 artifacts that we have seen all have a look to them the anger cane (bats) bargaining shoes (candy) and the lovely brier🌹denial parasol (roses).
I think the hat artifact look is base on a sun and we also know all of the artifacts are base on the 5 stages of grief brier (denial) eton (bargaining) desmodeus I hope that his name (anger) I think the hat artifact will be acceptance.
and we haven’t seen the empress face before it always been covered in light. and we all know of the artifacts was all livening at one point but was “ki!!” I think the empress was able to trap them in the artifacts but in doing so she trap herself but because she of her accepting she can be here without the need of some using her artifact. and what if the the butterflys we see all in part 8 aren’t butterflys but moths
