Gotta do my sum up of new info:
-Artemis taken as a child, parents dead, sister left behind. Because of the Grinvoes' (and presumably other Vampires') habit of child-snatching, Humans built a walled city for their kind. Presumably not all Humans, since Nim lived in the woods and has a regular stream of Human customers.
-Now living with Nim and Airad, Artemis asks Nim to take off the shoes to become a Human again so she can find Sersit in the city. While she's gone, Artemis tells Airad the history of the Grief Artefacts, which she was oblivious to, and now she understands Nim is in danger.
-Nim can't bring herself to take off the shoes, and it's...making her more unstable? More wrathful? Homicidal? Not sure exactly what she's suffering apart from general addiction woes. Also I'm very lost but intrigued as to the meaning of Eton's tally marks behind the mirror.
Yep, definitely on the right track there! And she is dealing in soul, so yes she is becoming rather unstable and losing what makes her 'her' if that makes sense!

Well, vampires can't reproduce (naturally), so they really had no choice other than to adopt...without consent. 😅
I like to think they have a competition going where each of them take turns doing terrible things. Whoever did the thing that blows up in their face first loses.
When Nim leaves, Airad and Artemis be like:
Airad: why are you sending her to a human city?
Artemis: she’s only one who can go out in the sun without raising suspicion!
Airad: Nim has got the powers of a witch! It’s not going to work.
Pretty much, she's just not that happy Artemis is sending Nim off into a potentially hazardous situation when she's not too mentally stable in the first place
I guess Ariad didn’t realize just what the Artifacts exactly were and what one was doing to Nim.
Well, she's learning now...that's gonna cause some rifts

Favorite part thus far. Artemis is a late but welcome addition to set off Airad, Allister and Nim’s stories against harsher realities. The Grinvoes were truly monstrous, I am not shedding tears that they and Allister are gone. But my heart aches that Eaton has gotten Nim hopelessly addicted to his blood fueled power. Artifact becoming a crutch indeed.
Artemis deserves the truth about his sister. And Airad deserves to know the truth about what is eating at Nim, literally.

When Humans Wields Artifacts:
Gain powers and qualities from whatever race the Artifact belonged to
Slowly loses their sanity the more they wield it
When Someone From The Same Race From An Artifact Wields It (a vampire wielding the Anger Staff, a fairy wielding the Denial Parsoul, etc):
Keeps their sanity
May gain additional powers
What would happen if another race entirely wields an Artifact (like a fairy wielding the Anger Staff or vampire wielding the Denial Parasol)?
Some very good comments here - though I'll say that the intended race wielding an artifact doesn't always mean they keep their sanity. It just means they need to do less deals to get abilities and give less soul. :P
I didn't realize the Artifacts were so specific (I thought they were just granting them powers as part of a demonic bargain), but I guess that adds up. Summer became a fairy when she took Denial, Nim became a witch after taking Bargaining, and it even explains why Missi (who's from a completely different series) became a vampire when she stole the Anger cane from Duke.
i was literally just binging Threnody yesterday while i was working on a new art piece!! i super excited to have a new piece of the story and putting more pieces together!! the story and lore is so rich and seeing things fall into place every time is super satisfying and addictive!! i love listen to the songs and watching the videos over and over again because somehow there's always something new to see and another connection to make!! its super amazing!! this team puts in so much work and it gives it so much value, thank you for more fantastic content, i love this series sm!! 🩷💜

A lot of development; the seeds of tragedy, in the path Sersit's chosen; confirmation that the witches aren't human and characters starting learn more too. I was a tad obsessed with the Grinvoes song, so it's great to see Artemis' time.

i never thought i’d find myself deeply relating to nim, and yet here we are.
i think this song’s my personal favorite out of all of threnody’s installments so far, and i wish everyone the best of luck with further ones!

Sorry I’m a bit late, but this was so amazing! I honestly hope that you guys are proud of what you’ve all accomplished so far, because every song and video has been golden! From the lyrics, to the singing, to the music, to the visual designs, to the drawings, to the animation, it’s fangtastic 😉
Onto the analysis!
Since Artemis and Nim’s plan to kill the Grinvoe’s (which succeeded), Artemis became friends, or at least allies, with our favorite duo. In particular, Artemis and Airad are able to bond due to the trauma and abuse they had to suffer through, and they’re the only two vampires in the series that are friendly, rejecting the vampiric life for very understandable reasons. Both hurt by the Grinvoe’s, they never felt like they were truly part of the family, despite Airad once loving Alaster.
Quick thing, I found it interesting how at the start of the song, his parents are begrudgingly serving him since he has the cane and crown. Alaster so desperately wants to be a powerful vampire despite him undergoing the same treatment as Artemis. One son wanted approval and power, then decided to overthrow his parents instead. The other son never accepted the Grinvoe’s as family, and waited for the right moment to kill his kidnappers.
The Grinvoe’s damage goes far and wide, including kidnapping and/or killing innocent people, particularly children (probably because vampires can birth children, or they’re just assholes and want to murder half of a family for food). Artemis’ hometown has upped their defenses to not let any non-humans in because of this.
Artemis was separated from his sister, which the Grinvoe’s spared from death or vampirism. The death thing was probably out of pity, but it seems they follow the old fashioned/sexist system of men being in power, so they took Artemis to become the prince instead of Sersit becoming a princess (CORRECTION: The vampires alternate between having a man rule and a woman rule, so now they need a man to rule this time and took Artemis instead of Sersit, thank you Mina!). Since the defenses though, Artemis can’t go into town, so he asks Nim to check on Sersit to see if she’s even still alive. While Artemis and Airad are permanently vampires, Nim is still a human, but we’ll get to her in a bit. In the meantime, Artemis tells Airad about the artifacts, which she then reads about in a book, particularly about the anger cane and bargaining shoes (We can see some of the writing in the book if we look close enough, and they each have written down the artifacts true names, but it’s hard for me to see them). We’ve become awfully familiar with these two artifacts for a long time. Airad used the anger cane to kill Alaster, and chances are she still has it or has hidden it from the vampires. As for the shoes, let’s look into that now
Nim at this point realizes that she relies on the shoes too heavily to take them off, even when she’s going to bed. She’s not a vampire, but the humans are still skeptical about other non-human entities. While wearing the shoes, Nim becomes a witch, much like Summer becoming a fairy while holding the denial parasol. Nim has worn the shoes for too long and has been too badly corrupted by Eton, so she’s incapable of taking the shoes off. Like a drug, there are terrible side effects on her health and sanity, but she loves the benefits and power too much to let go. We also see later that she has a tally mark for Eton, possibly marking how many times he’s won the mental battle against Nim.
Deep down, Nim wants to help her new friend, but in the end she can’t take off the shoes. Instead, she turns around and plans on lying to Artemis, but we see the guilt in her eyes. We don’t know for sure if Sersit is okay, but we do notice a woman with long, straight, blond hair walking into town, holding a bow with a quiver of arrows on her back. My guess is that the woman is Sersit and Nim JUST missed her walking into town
Just my guess, but I feel like soon Airad and Artemis will confront Nim about her enslavement to Bargaining and try to help her. Nim will probably try to keep the shoes in whatever way possible and fulfill her deal with Briar, who is growing impatient
Oh man! I know that was a lot, but I’m just so excited!!! I love this series so much, and I’m happy to see where things are going. Once again, you guys did an awesome job, and thank you so much for making this series!

Thank you for your comment/analysis as always! I'll make one note that the Grinvoes stole Artemis instead of Sersit not because they're a sexist society but because they have a 'schedule' of genders to rule, a woman ruler, then a man, then a woman, then a man, and don't want to break that schedule. They're definitely not anti-woman because Thorem is the primary ruler when she and Hafter reign!

I'm wondering if Artemis aged as a vampire, or if he was kept as a human, until he was the right age.
I guess another question is if the Grinvoes servitude was to Anger, the Empress, or an unknow past wielder.
The Grinvoes kept Artemis until he was 'of age' and then turned him - this is the typical method for the vampires as they don't like to have child vampires running around.
The servitude was primarily to Alister

You know, I just realized... We haven't seen the anger artifact person yet, and in the past these things seem to show up after being attached to a person for a while. I don't know what happened to the cane, if Airad still has it I don't think she made a deal so I'm pretty sure she's safe. However, assuming that nothing super drastic happens between now and the Vampair series, it shouldn't be too long before Missi starts seeing a third person around the castle.
There will definitely be more about Anger and the cane itself in the upcoming episodes!

Artemis is a kind of plant commonly associated with the moon, it has two faces one restores health the other one does the opposite, Artemisia is the plant of desire, to gift someone a flower means "i hope you will find happiness" but it is also the plant of absence that make you impossible to let go and just wish for others happiness.
I love the inner world behind flowers 😅 and i think there is something behind it.
Well you're definitely not alone there - Alyssa also loves the inner world behind flowers and she puts a lot of that into the Threnody art! You can go through all the video she's done and the flowers in the backgrounds etc will always have meaning XP

I was kinda busy but now I've finally watched it. Oh my freaking goth!!! Thank you very much for creating Threnody in the first place. Everytime that I watch a new Threnody video I think to myself :"It's so great, there is no way I can love it even more cos I'm already so involved and totally in love with it" and then when a newer video comes out it proves me wrong! Cos every new song makes me love Threnody only more and more which sometimes seems impossible, like is there a limit to how much I can be in love with the series? :) I guess I'll find it out eventually but as for now it seems like there ain't no limit, only love and awesome story^^
Also, can't wait for Merderous to be finished, already have reread Mermicide at least twice (which isn't alot on its own but alot considering how rare I ever read anything lately).

Forgot to mention a few things or more like didn't plan to add them but I wanna do it now.
I'm subscribed to you since the very first Threnody song when the art was made by you, back then my English was terrible and I had to Google alot. I remember once I even asked someone to translate it and you responded to me with translation^^ I could've tried and put all of the lyrics through Google myself (at the moment I barely new any words used in that song, don't remember which one exactly though) but got pretty tired doing it and decided to comment about it. And you did help me even though you didn't have to, sure you used Google as well and its translations are kinda off but it still takes some time and energy to type each and every line of the song so I really appreciate it to this day^^
Now I have this special joy that I get of a realisation that I understand every word, every line of the song and don't have to Google anything! Sure I've been practicing for years but your songs clearly played a part in it so I can say that in a way you taught me English :)
Also sometimes I quote your songs in different situations. I quote many songs of different artists but I noticed that I sing your lyrics much more often.
For example, I'm looking for something but it's not there and then I say smth like :"Nothing here, nothing there,nothing...🎶but the paaain, the everlasting shaaaaame🎶" (I often speak English when I'm talking to myself :p It helps me practice and also I just love speaking it).

So, Nim is a human without the shoes, and a witch with them. Besides magical powers, what would give away that Nim was a witch? There must be something physical or she wouldn't be so scared of entering the town. Is she just worried they'll recognize the shoes?
She has pink hair for starters!

I mean, she could just say it's hair dye. (looks up the history of hair dye innovation) Okay, maybe not.
I'd still think there would be work-arounds, but you know the world better than I do. Maybe the five races are just common enough that anyone can recognize them at a glance.
For everyone who didn’t notice at 3:13 you can see Angileh behind a tree at the far right, obviously closing in on the artifact that has been tormenting Nim.
Hopefully this confrontation doesn’t end badly.

I like how you turned the five stages of grief into a supernatural analogy. I myself am using vampires in a story (one that has already been published) as an analogy for a real life criminal ring in north British cities, where all of the predators were of a particular racial group. (You might have heard of them, Mina.) The victims in my story are mainly white teenage girls, but one of the vampires attacks a family of the same racial group as him as he likes to 'play with his food' so to speak and lure them under false pretenses. The point I am making is that it doesn't matter what racial group (or supernatural being) you are, if you decide to hurt others, you are a monster.
On to something a little more cheerful. I am getting more and more attached to Nim and Airad and I hope they have a happy ending.

3)There will be MANY more parts, it all lies on whether I'm able to afford to make them through Ko-Fi support. If I don't have enough financial support, I can't continue making them. If I do, then I can continue for many, many more. The next one shouldn't take six months because it requires fewer frames (this one has the most frames of all threnody songs) but it depends on how much my artist can do quickly. I don't like putting too much pressure on her.

How long does it take to make the animation, lyrics and Music all together? and a Part?
Music and lyrics - the instrumental takes a few weeks, the lyrics I usually make up on the spot. The singing and editing can take about a month or slightly more to finalise and polish everything. The storyboarding takes a week or so. The art takes around four months depending on how busy Alyssa is. The animation takes about a week. :)
