I LOVE that it's very clearly hinted here that Daria herself is Duke's mother, especially during the part where she appears with a pencil to bring him to life. It's already been hinted at before when Duke shows a portrait of Daria in "Stuck with You" that Missi stabbed in the chest with a Korean bayonet, and her portrait also shows up in episode 3 when Missi is jabbing at him wanting to be like his father.

i love this song because my own mother jjust passed own too when i was about 6 yrs old now i still remeber her my own mom now but i cryed so hardly but i still knew her then im just little duke since he was a boy im 12 im my mama's baby birl

@Autumn still Tillyannah I can deeply agree with you. The best way for me is through recollection of memories and my artwork. Some of my OCs have some ties that come off from him. It's a long tale but you can say that there's some ups and downs.
I really like that Daria put herself as Duke's mother and Voltaire as his father, as he is quite literally born from both their creations lol. And 0:21 when he sings 'cause I feel you all around' is pretty funny as Daria is drawing him constantly.
Somehow, the revelation that his father is a vampire hunter makes his desire to be a vampire/his finding them to actually become one make total PERFECT sense. He blames/hates his dad, so became what his dad hates. Or at least that what I'm getting. Love it!!
I'd like to also point out with the Invisible s2e1 themes, it seems like vampires are all his dad "sees", love or hate, and lo and behold, feeling as though no one truly sees or cares for him as he is, he became one of the very vampires his father devotes his life to hunting, both ending the family bloodline of vampire hunters (as he's the only child) and assuring he has a community of fellow outcasts (fellow vampires) who understand death and loss and pain better than anyone else in his life up to that point.
After a few months of waiting for the new episode , A new surprise of events that lead us to reveal that duke’s father was a vampire hunter or necromancer. Duke actually moved to the castle. This series keeps us waiting on our toes. Can’t wait to see the next one.

Like, he didn't believe vampires were real, but he accidentally saw his wife climbing a wall upside down or some kind of thing and discovered her real identity and murdered her, becoming a vampire hunter after that. @@jasonsmith6219 interesting theory on his mom, counter theory: I think she is faceless in that scene because she is meant to represent Daria, at 1:41 she is holding a pencil that looks a lot like a pen you would use to draw on a tablet, Daria’s tool of choice. Furthermore, I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that Duke’s dad looks like Aurelio Voltaire, the singer of every song that has adult Duke as a focus, and I’m pretty sure I have seen Daria refer to Duke as “her son” before.

Given the portrait in his dad's study makes it look like he became a vampire hunter (maybe after a vampire killed his wife?), it could easily be the result of wanting to be what his father chose to focus on
Pictures in the background really paint his history. Prized ballet dance that was the envy and ire of the girls but also explains why he's so good at dancing. Class of 81 where he looked to be around 8-10 and was ostracized by the group, which we knew but now see how much. Not good at fencing or horseback, so guessing his father tried to groom him for the family 'business' but disappointed when he wasn't cut out for it. See his love of dogs. Already musically inclined. More Mama's Child than Daddy. ALOT conveyed in under 3 minutes. Impressive. EDIT: Something else of note. Duke now notices his father's vampire hunting. I'm assuming his mother did her best to keep him from seeing his father's activities. Now, its all for him to see.

It hadn't really occurred to me that his dad was hunting vampires until I read these comments. I always thought it was the necromancy route but... What if the vampire he dug up was the one that killed and turned his wife? What if Duke's mom had been hiding under his nose and foiling his plans? What if she made a cursed staff to give to her husband and turn him into a creature of darkness but he caught on before it could fully turn him like how we saw Missi resist it in episode 4? Or maybe she locked away somewhere and that's what that key around Duke's neck is for. Or perhaps the Eldritch Raven in his dreams gave it to him after a fateful game of Monopoly. ....maybe we're looking into the background a little too much at this point.

I believe Duke's dad only took up vampire hunting after his wife got killed by one OR he was a retired hunter who got back on the job, John Wick-style. - at 0:57 he reads a newspaper article on vampires - at 1:17 he digs up his iconic axe, meaning he wasn't using it before. - at 2:40 he stares longingly into a locket, no doubt containing his wife's picture
There's a lot shown here about Duke and the potential ideas of what kind of episodes will get released in the future. It appears Duke as a kid wasn't popular with others, was forced to keep a smile at most times, and was only good in the arts rather than the athletic sports he was pushed into (1:07 to 1:13). His dad became a vampire hunter in order to get over his deceased wife and family problems in his household (0:55, 1:17 to 1:24). And it's apparent that Duke was falling into a path of self-destruction (2:13 to 2:18) and ultimately his vampirism. I think in the next episode will explore the story about his dad, his career on killing vampires, and how his next target will be his own son after discovering Duke has changed and has a transformed human girl in his possession
Or he hears how his vampire son who he has been purposefully not hunting has been killed in their own house and that the killer has his wife's old cane that turns its holder into a vampire and drives them insane. So ya I think his next target is going to be Missi and we will also learn how Duke's mother died.

Crawling through the video there's hints that Duke's been having nightmares/dreams of a black bird as a child, and during the scene where the floor explodes upwards you can see a black bird/gargoyle creature curiously looking at Duke and/or the key he carries. In the same scene you can also see what appears to be spirits flowing upwards with the explosive fluid/matter. Also, Duke's dad seems to become more and more obsessed with hunting and killing vampires as time goes on, Duke even completely misses the fact that his father seems to be carrying a locket that he stares intently into instead of paying Duke any attention. Addendum: 1:07 Here's a picture of Duke's class in 1981.
My favourite part of this episode is how Little Duke was animated. His movements were so expressive and it was hard to take my eyes off of him. They went well with the song you chose.
Now I feel like Duke's Mother was actualy killed by a vampire and this is why his father look very fixed with this idea that he must kill vampires. His father was so focused on having revenge for his lost wife, then he just ended making his son feel this way. Sadly, maybe Duke was too young to undertand his father pain, a father that prefer to look distand, then actually showing his emotion regarding this lost. (This is just my point of view, and sorry, tried my best, english's not my main language.)
Vampire hunter and baby vamp? The drama! This series is so amazing and I'm going to need to rewatch this video at least 7 times to pause and catch all of the wonderful details slipped in.
Absolutely gorgeous as always but the expressions are what truly takes the cake. His walk with the black bursts around him, the overly goofy way he smiles and flaps his hands when he mentions his dad wanting him to be like a performing seel, just everything. I'm very intrigued by his vampire hunting dad and the death of his mother

The animation in this video is a total masterpiece. Duke's expressions and movements from the way he turns and nods his head to how he walks or runs matches the pitch of the song perfectly. Not to mention the level of detail in Duke's hair and how it bounces as he moves. It's better than a lot of animation recently made by big corporations; they need to watch this and take notes.
The "To Be Continued" bits have generally been teasers for whatever the next song may be in the season (there were bats in the TBC at the end of Season 2 Episode 1, then Season 2 Episode 2 had the instrumentals from this song in its TBC), so I wonder what song the blood dripping may be hinting at here.
Ohhh I never noticed actually, thanks for bringing it up! There gotta be violence in the next episode. Mabye some other vampire wants to bite Missy, because she isn't a full vampire?
maybe the next one is more about how he was turned? we saw a vague part of his origin story in the second episode, but maybe we'll get a more detailed one in the next episode?
Masterpiece. The visuals are so well done. The color, the way Daria puts the symbolism to the lyric, telling us the story of Duke and also how she added herself to the video, or at least an apparition of what looks to be her with a drawing pencil. Can't wait for episode 4.
The fact Daria is Duke's actually REAL mother... Top ten plot twists. This is a great source for dozens of theories. She was his inspiration that literally brought him to life... I feel a new fan theory emerging.
Its kinda fun to see duke continue the trend of a consistent voice actor, its just now we have a young duke voice and an adult duke voice. so... im making sure i got this all clear, his mom died when he was young, and it seems like they moved into the mansion/castle place not too long afterwards given the boxes, movers, and wrapped furniture at the start, and that SOLD sign still on the yard shown later. so yeah that really upends his whole life from before that. though judging by the hanging pictures he didn't have many if any friends while he was a kid, we already saw was bullied, though now we know he was good at dancing and music while some fencing and horse-riding he more likely got forced into doing, probably by his father. all those hanging pictures are presumably from before the move. meanwhile his dad either became a vampire hunter, or he was one already but only now does duke know of this given his shocked reaction to the axe, or maybe his dad was one before but he's falling back into those old ways after the moms death, or maybe its all the dad having revenge cause vampires killed the mom; but any way it happened, he is a vampire hunter now at that point in time, and this freaks lil' duke out a bit. though it seems duke does still live there for some time, since we know from last episode he was a young adult when he ran away, and he did at least have a friend at that point, but said friend seemed to betrayed him and that was the last straw before duke left for the city, and at that city he found vampires and got bitten. the question is now what happened to the dad, especially after duke became a vampire, since he's not living at the mansion/castle in the present, and also there's also the question of how duke got his hands on that staff in the first place. lastly there's dukes past history with Brahm Dumaris hinted at last episode and if that plays into anything in the present with Missi. any one of those getting elaborated on would be really interesting, and apparently the next episode is gonna be big, and there will be blood! so i'm beyond excited for whatever comes next! seriously though, great work as always. also i just have to shout out how FUCKING AMAZING 2:15 is, and just the timing on all of that. it's so god. damn. good.

As someone else pointed out, you can see his mother's portrait at 1:17 in Resurrection (credit to slvrgirl317!), she does not have pointed ears nor appears to be a vampire. A lot of the furniture around here is gothic-themed, so my theory: His father became obsessed with hunting and killing vampires after his mother was killed by a vampire. He wants Duke to move on so badly because Duke is expressing his pain and grief differently, and men 'shouldn't show emotions'. Duke finds the staff and is turned like Missi, but as we've seen, the staff drives you to insanity and, much like Gollums 'precious', you want to cling to it for dear life. The further case is seen in 'The Silent'. You see the madness setting in, she comes to a breaking point and rejects it by tossing the staff. She is ready to leave, to return to her home (what home there is, hopefully) until she sees the Duke. In the anger of having been turned against her will and having been separated from her family for such a long time, Missi takes the staff back.
Duke's backstory is amazing with the twists! I love that Dad is "literally" Voltaire and he looks to be a Vampire Hunter. What a twist! This only opens me to more questions! Love that new episode! Daria and all her helpers are amazing and working so hard on this! Thank you for another amazing fun video! Plus Beetlejuice the musical is so good! I have a feeling Beetlejuice and Duke would be good friends. lol!
I know it’s unlikely, but I really hope that the future music videos feature Missy and Duke’s parents point of view and seeing what their kids are doing now
How much you want to bet Duke's mom was killed by a Vamp, hence his father being obsessed with killing them. But Duke doesn't realise this and infects himself to get his father's attention. Also notice the axe his father gets to kill vamps is the same one Missy used to cut off Duke's thumb. Love the work keep it up. On the edge of my seat waiting for the next one

Something to note is that maybe the dad isn't as cold as he might seem. At the end of the song after dragging that vampire body, he looks at a locket with a picture in it. Might be the mom
Could just be me looking too much into it, but I like how the dad looks quite a bit like Voltaire (could be complete coincedence though) and the mom seems to be the artist, which is really cool! And it shows that if Duke was more of a Momma's boy, like being artisticly inclined (the ballet) if she was more of an artist, there is so much in this that I love! The movements and lip synching are great! I absolutely ADORE the little bitter smile at the beggining of the song where it goes 'i'm probably talking to myself here' like oof, that hurts. You always make such amazing stuff!

We thought of Duke as the funny a**hole of a vampire that we love, but now that we are seeing through him with this, the series will never be the same. I cannot wait for the future
So Voltaire is tied to Adult Duke, and the Beetlejuice Musical (specifically Lydia's songs) are to young Duke. something tells me we're gonna get a Say My Name animatic between Young Duke and whatever turned him into a vampire.
Young Duke is grieving but those faces he makes as he passes the awkward pictures help me see the "vampire sass queen" he'll become. Very suspicious goings on with Voltaire "Daddy of Vaults" in the background. I hope we get clarity in the future. Again, thank you Sophia Anne Caruso and Beetlejuice: The Musical for this stellar addition to our Duke's backstory, and thank you Mina for turning Daria onto them. Speaking of Daria, I love her being referenced (but never seeing her face) as Duke's "dead mom" in this video the best out all the animation.

Well, I will answer you for that. When Artemis bit Duke and turned him into a vampire, we did not clearly see that. These drops of blood indicate how it was transformed.
I like the little things in the background like pressure that lil Duke have to be the best at everything, even when he don't like these things, also the fact that painting of him and his father are everywhere (one showing that Duke are not really enjoying presentence of his father), but his mother are only three (in Duke's room, in dad's weird room and hall). One painting/photo showing that he isn't the most sociable person and that he isn't really happy among others. His unusaly big interest in crowns and ravens that even are showing in his dreams. Monopoly and teddy bear that for me looks like monokuma from Danganronpa. I wanted to knew what is written on book that he is holding while laying on the bed, but I can see only "Top (...) t (...) ay (...)" and something at the bottom right. And it's only my theory but I think that figure showed in 1:40 aren't Duke's mother but Daria Cohen, because of the way that person is drew (figure looks way less cartoonish that Duke and is wealding a pen) Things that are showed with black and white are weird state that author are letting Duke to see and in some way maybe even manipulate, that state is beyond Duke reality and they are author creation that aren't added to his world. I don't know if this theory is true, but I like it. Anyway thank you for next episode of this series, I'm waiting for more.

The more I watch this episode, the more intrigued I get about how it will continue! When Duke's father is dragging the last vampire corpse, he is looking at a locket that my guess is that has his wife's photo inside. What if Duke's mother was killed by a vampire? And that's why his dad started hunting down the creatures that killed his wife while hiding the truth from Duke? And in the end, Duke got turned into a vampire himself and ended up killing his own father while thinking that he didn't care about his mother's death? I love your content Daria!!! Can't wait for the next one!!!

Woooooooo, BEST EPISODE BY FAR!!! love the buildup of the episode and getting to know Duke better and his "home" life. It was interesting to follow him around the castle while singing "Dead mom" from bettlejuce, and the tension between him and his father is huge and I'm all in for it, also couldn't help to be shockenth of the cliff hanger at the end witch left me thirsty for more. You all who worked on this have really outdone yourselves and look forward as always to see what's gonna happend next! On the meantime I'll cheer both for Daria and for the people helping this project come to life ✊✨

"How the hell did Duke become a vampire if he was a human as a child?" I don't mean to sound rude, but this sentence sounds like you have never heard of vampires before. Even in settings were one can be born as a vampire, humans being turned into vampires is usually still a thing.
See, when a vampire bites a mortal. . . I am not going to finish that statement because I can reasonably assume you know how vampires come about. Also, we see in Daria's video for Raised By Bats that Duke, after running away from home, does in fact get bitten and his sire isn't exactly thrilled with his antics.
I just finished binging the whole series so far after "the Night" popped up in my recommended. It's super awesome to see the progress and talent and growth in this artist. Keep it up. Love every minute of the playlist!

I really like that Daria put herself as Duke's mother and Voltaire as his father, as he is quite literally born from both their creations lol. And 0:21 when he sings 'cause I feel you all around' is pretty funny as Daria is drawing him constantly.
Yeah, it's a perfect way to personify this whole series and Duke himself as their unofficial brainchild :)
Somehow, the revelation that his father is a vampire hunter makes his desire to be a vampire/his finding them to actually become one make total PERFECT sense. He blames/hates his dad, so became what his dad hates. Or at least that what I'm getting. Love it!!
I'd like to also point out with the Invisible s2e1 themes, it seems like vampires are all his dad "sees", love or hate, and lo and behold, feeling as though no one truly sees or cares for him as he is, he became one of the very vampires his father devotes his life to hunting, both ending the family bloodline of vampire hunters (as he's the only child) and assuring he has a community of fellow outcasts (fellow vampires) who understand death and loss and pain better than anyone else in his life up to that point.
After a few months of waiting for the new episode , A new surprise of events that lead us to reveal that duke’s father was a vampire hunter or necromancer. Duke actually moved to the castle. This series keeps us waiting on our toes. Can’t wait to see the next one.

Furthermore, I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that Duke’s dad looks like Aurelio Voltaire, the singer of every song that has adult Duke as a focus, and I’m pretty sure I have seen Daria refer to Duke as “her son” before.

Pictures in the background really paint his history. Prized ballet dance that was the envy and ire of the girls but also explains why he's so good at dancing. Class of 81 where he looked to be around 8-10 and was ostracized by the group, which we knew but now see how much. Not good at fencing or horseback, so guessing his father tried to groom him for the family 'business' but disappointed when he wasn't cut out for it. See his love of dogs. Already musically inclined. More Mama's Child than Daddy.

It hadn't really occurred to me that his dad was hunting vampires until I read these comments. I always thought it was the necromancy route but...
What if the vampire he dug up was the one that killed and turned his wife? What if Duke's mom had been hiding under his nose and foiling his plans? What if she made a cursed staff to give to her husband and turn him into a creature of darkness but he caught on before it could fully turn him like how we saw Missi resist it in episode 4?
Or maybe she locked away somewhere and that's what that key around Duke's neck is for. Or perhaps the Eldritch Raven in his dreams gave it to him after a fateful game of Monopoly.
....maybe we're looking into the background a little too much at this point.

There's a lot shown here about Duke and the potential ideas of what kind of episodes will get released in the future. It appears Duke as a kid wasn't popular with others, was forced to keep a smile at most times, and was only good in the arts rather than the athletic sports he was pushed into (1:07 to 1:13). His dad became a vampire hunter in order to get over his deceased wife and family problems in his household (0:55, 1:17 to 1:24). And it's apparent that Duke was falling into a path of self-destruction (2:13 to 2:18) and ultimately his vampirism. I think in the next episode will explore the story about his dad, his career on killing vampires, and how his next target will be his own son after discovering Duke has changed and has a transformed human girl in his possession
Or he hears how his vampire son who he has been purposefully not hunting has been killed in their own house and that the killer has his wife's old cane that turns its holder into a vampire and drives them insane. So ya I think his next target is going to be Missi and we will also learn how Duke's mother died.

... Duke's always had an amazing singing voice, ever since he was a kid!
Crawling through the video there's hints that Duke's been having nightmares/dreams of a black bird as a child, and during the scene where the floor explodes upwards you can see a black bird/gargoyle creature curiously looking at Duke and/or the key he carries. In the same scene you can also see what appears to be spirits flowing upwards with the explosive fluid/matter.
Also, Duke's dad seems to become more and more obsessed with hunting and killing vampires as time goes on, Duke even completely misses the fact that his father seems to be carrying a locket that he stares intently into instead of paying Duke any attention.

My favourite part of this episode is how Little Duke was animated. His movements were so expressive and it was hard to take my eyes off of him. They went well with the song you chose.
Now I feel like Duke's Mother was actualy killed by a vampire and this is why his father look very fixed with this idea that he must kill vampires. His father was so focused on having revenge for his lost wife, then he just ended making his son feel this way. Sadly, maybe Duke was too young to undertand his father pain, a father that prefer to look distand, then actually showing his emotion regarding this lost. (This is just my point of view, and sorry, tried my best, english's not my main language.)

Absolutely gorgeous as always but the expressions are what truly takes the cake. His walk with the black bursts around him, the overly goofy way he smiles and flaps his hands when he mentions his dad wanting him to be like a performing seel, just everything.

The animation in this video is a total masterpiece. Duke's expressions and movements from the way he turns and nods his head to how he walks or runs matches the pitch of the song perfectly. Not to mention the level of detail in Duke's hair and how it bounces as he moves. It's better than a lot of animation recently made by big corporations; they need to watch this and take notes.

The "To Be Continued" bits have generally been teasers for whatever the next song may be in the season (there were bats in the TBC at the end of Season 2 Episode 1, then Season 2 Episode 2 had the instrumentals from this song in its TBC), so I wonder what song the blood dripping may be hinting at here.

Masterpiece. The visuals are so well done. The color, the way Daria puts the symbolism to the lyric, telling us the story of Duke and also how she added herself to the video, or at least an apparition of what looks to be her with a drawing pencil. Can't wait for episode 4.
The fact Daria is Duke's actually REAL mother... Top ten plot twists. This is a great source for dozens of theories. She was his inspiration that literally brought him to life... I feel a new fan theory emerging.

Its kinda fun to see duke continue the trend of a consistent voice actor, its just now we have a young duke voice and an adult duke voice.
so... im making sure i got this all clear, his mom died when he was young, and it seems like they moved into the mansion/castle place not too long afterwards given the boxes, movers, and wrapped furniture at the start, and that SOLD sign still on the yard shown later. so yeah that really upends his whole life from before that. though judging by the hanging pictures he didn't have many if any friends while he was a kid, we already saw was bullied, though now we know he was good at dancing and music while some fencing and horse-riding he more likely got forced into doing, probably by his father. all those hanging pictures are presumably from before the move. meanwhile his dad either became a vampire hunter, or he was one already but only now does duke know of this given his shocked reaction to the axe, or maybe his dad was one before but he's falling back into those old ways after the moms death, or maybe its all the dad having revenge cause vampires killed the mom; but any way it happened, he is a vampire hunter now at that point in time, and this freaks lil' duke out a bit. though it seems duke does still live there for some time, since we know from last episode he was a young adult when he ran away, and he did at least have a friend at that point, but said friend seemed to betrayed him and that was the last straw before duke left for the city, and at that city he found vampires and got bitten.
the question is now what happened to the dad, especially after duke became a vampire, since he's not living at the mansion/castle in the present, and also there's also the question of how duke got his hands on that staff in the first place. lastly there's dukes past history with Brahm Dumaris hinted at last episode and if that plays into anything in the present with Missi. any one of those getting elaborated on would be really interesting, and apparently the next episode is gonna be big, and there will be blood! so i'm beyond excited for whatever comes next!
seriously though, great work as always. also i just have to shout out how FUCKING AMAZING 2:15 is, and just the timing on all of that. it's so god. damn. good.

I don't know why but I love it when Duke does his stomp walk.
As someone else pointed out, you can see his mother's portrait at 1:17 in Resurrection (credit to slvrgirl317!), she does not have pointed ears nor appears to be a vampire. A lot of the furniture around here is gothic-themed, so my theory:
His father became obsessed with hunting and killing vampires after his mother was killed by a vampire. He wants Duke to move on so badly because Duke is expressing his pain and grief differently, and men 'shouldn't show emotions'. Duke finds the staff and is turned like Missi, but as we've seen, the staff drives you to insanity and, much like Gollums 'precious', you want to cling to it for dear life.
The further case is seen in 'The Silent'. You see the madness setting in, she comes to a breaking point and rejects it by tossing the staff. She is ready to leave, to return to her home (what home there is, hopefully) until she sees the Duke. In the anger of having been turned against her will and having been separated from her family for such a long time, Missi takes the staff back.
It always amazes how much the quality skyrockets with every new episode- incredible as always!!
So, Duke's father is vampire hunter and Duke became vampire when he got older. I imagine we will see a family reunion in the future.
Duke's backstory is amazing with the twists! I love that Dad is "literally" Voltaire and he looks to be a Vampire Hunter. What a twist! This only opens me to more questions! Love that new episode! Daria and all her helpers are amazing and working so hard on this! Thank you for another amazing fun video! Plus Beetlejuice the musical is so good! I have a feeling Beetlejuice and Duke would be good friends. lol!

How much you want to bet Duke's mom was killed by a Vamp, hence his father being obsessed with killing them. But Duke doesn't realise this and infects himself to get his father's attention. Also notice the axe his father gets to kill vamps is the same one Missy used to cut off Duke's thumb. Love the work keep it up. On the edge of my seat waiting for the next one

Could just be me looking too much into it, but I like how the dad looks quite a bit like Voltaire (could be complete coincedence though) and the mom seems to be the artist, which is really cool! And it shows that if Duke was more of a Momma's boy, like being artisticly inclined (the ballet) if she was more of an artist, there is so much in this that I love! The movements and lip synching are great! I absolutely ADORE the little bitter smile at the beggining of the song where it goes 'i'm probably talking to myself here' like oof, that hurts. You always make such amazing stuff!
This video is a blessed and beautiful work of art along with this entire series! I've been following her since the first video and it's amazing that it all started as a school project. Long live this great show and bless Daria Cohen for being so talented!

Young Duke is grieving but those faces he makes as he passes the awkward pictures help me see the "vampire sass queen" he'll become. Very suspicious goings on with Voltaire "Daddy of Vaults" in the background. I hope we get clarity in the future. Again, thank you Sophia Anne Caruso and Beetlejuice: The Musical for this stellar addition to our Duke's backstory, and thank you Mina for turning Daria onto them. Speaking of Daria, I love her being referenced (but never seeing her face) as Duke's "dead mom" in this video the best out all the animation.

Well, I will answer you for that. When Artemis bit Duke and turned him into a vampire, we did not clearly see that. These drops of blood indicate how it was transformed.
I like the little things in the background like pressure that lil Duke have to be the best at everything, even when he don't like these things, also the fact that painting of him and his father are everywhere (one showing that Duke are not really enjoying presentence of his father), but his mother are only three (in Duke's room, in dad's weird room and hall). One painting/photo showing that he isn't the most sociable person and that he isn't really happy among others. His unusaly big interest in crowns and ravens that even are showing in his dreams. Monopoly and teddy bear that for me looks like monokuma from Danganronpa. I wanted to knew what is written on book that he is holding while laying on the bed, but I can see only "Top (...) t (...) ay (...)" and something at the bottom right. And it's only my theory but I think that figure showed in 1:40 aren't Duke's mother but Daria Cohen, because of the way that person is drew (figure looks way less cartoonish that Duke and is wealding a pen) Things that are showed with black and white are weird state that author are letting Duke to see and in some way maybe even manipulate, that state is beyond Duke reality and they are author creation that aren't added to his world. I don't know if this theory is true, but I like it. Anyway thank you for next episode of this series, I'm waiting for more.

When Duke's father is dragging the last vampire corpse, he is looking at a locket that my guess is that has his wife's photo inside.
What if Duke's mother was killed by a vampire? And that's why his dad started hunting down the creatures that killed his wife while hiding the truth from Duke?
And in the end, Duke got turned into a vampire himself and ended up killing his own father while thinking that he didn't care about his mother's death?

Woooooooo, BEST EPISODE BY FAR!!! love the buildup of the episode and getting to know Duke better and his "home" life. It was interesting to follow him around the castle while singing "Dead mom" from bettlejuce, and the tension between him and his father is huge and I'm all in for it, also couldn't help to be shockenth of the cliff hanger at the end witch left me thirsty for more. You all who worked on this have really outdone yourselves and look forward as always to see what's gonna happend next! On the meantime I'll cheer both for Daria and for the people helping this project come to life ✊✨
Wait. How the hell did Duke become a vampire if he was a human as a child? Hang on. If his mom is dead... And his dad is hunting vampires... That means either she died from a vampire attack or was turned into a vampire and killed by her husband. Holy shit.

I don't mean to sound rude, but this sentence sounds like you have never heard of vampires before. Even in settings were one can be born as a vampire, humans being turned into vampires is usually still a thing.
See, when a vampire bites a mortal. . . I am not going to finish that statement because I can reasonably assume you know how vampires come about. Also, we see in Daria's video for Raised By Bats that Duke, after running away from home, does in fact get bitten and his sire isn't exactly thrilled with his antics.
I mean, Missy was also born a human. But Duke was actually biten, unlike her.
I just finished binging the whole series so far after "the Night" popped up in my recommended. It's super awesome to see the progress and talent and growth in this artist. Keep it up. Love every minute of the playlist!

The voice is not an edit. The song "Dead Mom" is sung by the female character Lydia from the Beetlejuice: the Musical.

You have so much talent for timing in animation- all the movements feel incredibly alive.
I can't help but wonder if his mother was killed or turned by a vampire and that's why his dad becomes obsessed with hunting them... Maybe Duke's feeling of her still being around might actually be considered more literally somewhat...? :)

Love how Duke is the only character so far to have a consistent voice throughout the entire series, even young duke has a consistent voice.
