Applied the concept you covered in this video to cover water more so than worry about changing baits and colors yesterday on the water and it paid dividends. History I would have fished an area that I have had success in changing baits and colors unit I got a bite, spending almost an entire day in an area trying to figure out why they were not biting. Yesterday, while I was fishing my first area and getting no bites, the cover water tip popped up in my head, and I went to the graph, found two other areas that I thought looked good across the lake (about a 1/2 mile run) and my first cast in the new location was a 5lb smallie. I proceeded to catch 8 more fish in on this spot, most over 4lbs with a 2.5 lber and a 3 lber. It was a great two hours of fishing, and it wouldn't have happened had I not applied the cover water to find biting fish concept. Just thought I would share since yesterday's success is right on the heels of this video.

Im relatively new to bass fishing and when I go out to fish I normally go to 1 specific lake and then 1 area that Ive had success at. I watch way more YT than I actually fish. Two days ago I went to a new lake that turned out to be much clearer water than my usual spot. While I still didnt catch, I could actually see my lures in the water. I gained so much more understanding just being able to see my lures in action. It was like someone turned on another light switch. So I agree, more time on the water is invaluable, and different bodies of water.

I met a couple of guys the day before yesterday who are very good trout fishermen. They taught me a ton of stuff and I caught 6 trout that day and went to cook the 4 I kept! They taught me so much I had no idea I was doing wrong. One of them was a professional on a sport fishing boat, so definitely talk with your fellow fishermen it can change everything for you on the lake

Great video, #4 has been the most important to me, I've bass fished most of my life but wasn't very good at it but got lucky and found a coworker who is one of the best bass fishermen I've ever met , watched him beat my butt trip after trip but learned so much from him that I am a much better bass fisherman today because of it , he has put me on so much fish its unreal , my first 50+ bass in a day was because of him, broke my personal best three times while out with him , the confidence I have today is a 1000 times more than just 4 years ago , also I fish with about 5 other guys from time to time and I learn a lot from them too, mostly what not to do lol but I'm always open to fish with new people because you can always learn from others on the water

I'll do both sometimes I'll be out fishing and have one ear bud in listening to one of you guys or a few other guys on RUclips depending on what I'm fishing with or technique I'm trying to learn all from the bank though. I try to fish everyday even if it's only 15 minutes on my way home from work. My spots are limited and highly pressured so it's been getting frustrating and discouraging lately
Thanks for all the advice and congrats on the 14+ pounder that's amazing

I’m really struggling. I just picked up a few different frogs and I can’t catch anything or even get bites. I fish areas where I catch a lot of bass. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. I can’t get the bait to walk. I’ve tried slowing down and also tried fast retrieve. I’m using a 7 foot medium with 25 pound braid. What am I doing wrong. It’s not a stiff rod but also not real lite tip either. What am I doing wrong.

#1) If I am fishing a new body of water I focus on location first off, if I have experience on the lake then I will flip between baits that have had some sort of success in the past to dial in on the bite. I've just found that when fishing a new lake that if I am spending too much time going through lures, I am not seeing enough of the lake. You look at your map and waypoints at the end of the day and it really sets in just how little of the lake you got to.
#2) As to the gear, I think people just automatically think it's sponsor thumping unfortunately. Both of you guys have been good about focusing on rod powers, actions and lengths and gear ratios on the reels so we can overlook the manufacturer, which is much appreciated. I know you Berger, pushed for the sponsors you have and stand behind them. Assuming similar with other Tyler, it's not like you guys signed deals with the devil and are peddling bad products.
#3) Balance is paramount in my opinion. It's really easy to hit the water with your head absolutely filled with all the stuff you have been absorbing and it can be overwhelming. Also you can easily hit the lake multiple times and just being doing the same thing you did before just because it works. While your boating fish, you aren't building new skills. Best to pick a thing or two, watch a refresher video the night before and work on only those on the water. Kind of why lot of pros will joke about only taking one rod when they are referring to practicing a new technique or presentation/lure. It's so easy to just go with the flow and end of the day look down and say "Huh, I never got around to throwing that ned rig again."
#4) This one is probably the hardest for a lot of people. Be friendly on the shores or docks, strike up conversations. Mention what you were/are trying to do, they might carry on with what works for them. Also try and go to your local baitshops and sporting goods stores and skip the big box stores (cabela's, dicks etc). You'll be able to ask tons of questions, get recommended lures and such.
#5) Gotta have some mini goals. My go-to is looking at the nav maps for a lake and combing through and finding a few spots that I think are going to be productive (Triangle method baby). If any of those spots are a hit, I feel good about the day.

I’m trying to do a fishing channel in the mid Ga area. Fishing with faith outdoors is the name of the channel. I don’t get to get on the water as much as some folks, I do have a boat , but I have caught 6-8 ponders from the bank on baits I put faith in lol hits the name and my faith in Jesus as well. I don’t have any go pros or a laptop I’m a poor man just trying to share what I been doing to catch fish and raise a family. I’ve been doing all the editing and videoing on my phone. I love y’all’s channels and y’all do a awesome job on RUclips. Hopefully one day I’ll hit 10,000 at least lol. God bless and thanks.
