@@JohnNoneTrue Yeah it is really strange why they did that, all the online theories are kinda strange too. Legal trouble? To much stuff from China to not being called "Made in the UK"? I have no idea what's going on there...
Man this video is a must see, feels to me like like you made a giant step on the long road we are all travelling. The way you used only green shades build an amazing atmosphere suiting the model perfectly. I'll try it asap!
Hands down on of your best videos. The explanation of why you are doing it accompanied by the result (which looks amazing BTW) is just awesome. Thank you for sharing, and please stay safe. Green is your mother color.
My favorite non character figure is the wood elf waywatcher with the leaf cloak on one knee with bow drawn. It's a metal mini from the mid to late 90s and before the days of cool plastic minis. You know the one....lol.
Really loved the idea of painting an area with a view to seeing if the colour would work, without committing beyond that. It makes going back and choosing another colour feel like a normal step rather than a backward step and feeling like you're starting from scratch.
I really like this mini, but honestly i personally would have painted the bow brown to have that wood elf weapon feel to it. Most woods elf's ive seen have quite abit of brown with the green to add that high lights of blending in with the forest. But i still love it over all. 😍
You just nailed the theme for the model, but what was more impressive for me was the way you painted you just put down colour and it was right. It is hard to explain for me because im not a native english speaker.
I didn’t follow your videos as closely as before for almost 2 years. Catching up now on your content, I am astonished to see how much you improved in painting and in video story telling.
Love the honesty on not knowing exactly what color scheme to go with. Also just the thought process of working through the colors . Fantastic content sir!
Great paint job & it’s good to see you still have your wood elf army. I slowly started with a nomad Prince, spell weaver, 3 boxes of glade guard & sisters of the thorn then gw pulled the plug. I’ve not built/painted any of them & they’re now part of my pile of shame. Let’s hope that they come back in some shape or form in the new fantasy release 🤞🤞
This is the type of video that made me subscribe to Miniac in the first place. Glad that we are starting to see some again. I love all of Scott's content but these are gems right here.
I am really looking forward to painting mine. You've done such a beautiful job, your enthusiasm for the project really shines through. I sincerely hope GW realise how many people are desperate for new Wood Elves.
Awesome vid. Loved hearing you talk about your process. RE the gray thing, canvas painters will often mix blacks and greys by desaturating colors already on their pallet for exactly the reason you mentioned instead of just pulling out a black or a gray.
I'm sure the struggle is real. But your videos made me want to get back into miniature painting and keep me inspired every time I even think of picking up a brush. Your work is incredible 😍
Really enjoy you going into detail of your thought process of choosing colors and kind of figuring things out as you go. Hope GW drops some more wood elves for ya :)
Loved this vid Scott. Found the deep dive interesting. I have no intention of ever painting this model but the techniques you used to paint it are very much skills that are transferable and I feel like I’ve learnt a lot from this. The glazing of shadows over volumetric highlights and the groundbreaking effects of recess shading has blown me away and I can’t wait to try these out! 😅
I really enjoyed this vid Scott. It was also nice to see your other Wood Elves. Which is something I've never seen before, heard a lot about them but never seen. Hopefully mate this will be the beginning of a new army.
Love this result. I'm also a long time wood elves fan, so I'll probably paint her soon. Maybe in the autumn scheme of my old army. Thanks for a great, insightful video!
I really like how much thought goes into these videos. Your explanations on how you picked color will make me look at future projects differently. Great work :)
Takes me back to an ancient white Dwarf article showcasing , I think it was Mike McVey's Warhammer Fantasy Wood Elves Army. Must have been third or forth Edition Warhammer Fantasy Battle.
Thanks, Scott. Your comprehensive narration makes this video a helpful reference for future projects. Also, I can't think of Orlando Bloom without being reminded of the Orlando Blooming Onion skit from Robot Chicken. Gotta rewatch this after I get back from Outback Steakhouse.
Wow great job pal! Way better than expected! I mean... we all know you are good but this paint job feels like "next level". I can't wait for the vampires!
Thanks Miniac, thats a nice looking portable paint rack, I'm always moving between my garden office and dining room, ideal :) I've used the code, hope it helps.

So happy to see you get a new Elf, she looks great- and that whole army together is really stunning!
Scott: Here's a quick before and after so you can see the difference that 10 seconds makes
Me: They're the same picture
Scott: Now, onto the face
I thought the same thing haha
Look at the quiver specifically, the recess painting brings out the detail of the lip of the 'leather' a lot more
I paused to take a better look... I'm glad I'm not the only one lol
Yea couldn't tell the difference.

After seeing Nijon video about "mother colours" seeing Scott hinting at the concept is actually pretty fun.
This model looks SO dramatic. You absolutely nailed this. I love how heavily you leaned into the color wheel here. It turned out great!
She looks amazing and this video was solid as all hell. Good work
Really enjoying your move to a more Story Telling type of "tutorial" man, love it.

This might just be my favourite video of yours. Love the breakdown of your painting process and your colour choices.
I agree, this was amazing. Inspiring me to try something new.
Just Scott’s explanations of colours really puts me in a calm mood... as usual, amazing video and keep it up!
Holy crap!!!! Wood Elves were my first love - this is just awesome, I definitely need to pick up that mini!
Good luck trying to get cursed city lmao
The production and editing of this video is ace, man. Take a bow, Scott. Brilliant video.
The background music isn't too distracting from the narration, gotta agree.
I love the idea of painting using color and not by subject (pants, as you said in the video). Great video!

Def a fine balance of cohesive and muted. Looks amazing

Great color scheme. You really did a true service to this gorgeous new wood elf model. I hope to see an entire army of these elves soon from GW.

Super solid paint job Scott. Love the color wheel “green circle” your always very knowledgeable. Thanks for this tutorial.
Love it! Wood-Elves were the first full army I ever collected and that I fully properly painted, I was so proud of my autumn themed forest bois.
Another fantastic paint job, well done

Love my wood elf army but never finish painting it you have inspired me to find them in my horde of shame and paint more minis
the highlights on the fur almost double as a bit of snow being stuck in it. it's a very nice paint job and army
It's great, I actually really love this model Scott
Best outro on all of yt. Especially when you're super calm leading into it.
Thank you for traditional wood elf love. Respect.
I've also found the same with colouring Vallejo aluminum, it looses it's metal-ness sometimes when mixed too much making a wash work better
Beautiful paintjob. Can't wait to paint my cursed city heroes.
