Brilliant simple instructions that assists any owner to keep your audi mmi screen without the aid of diagnostics. I ran diagnostics after doing this just to check if any faults appeared and there are no faults showing. Cheers dude 👍 👌.
Thank you so much for showing me how to do this! You saved me a lot of money because my motor kept shorting out the fuse on the screen. Now the motor is disabled and my screen works just as it always has. Thank you!
I think a display always out looks untidy. I have been trying to find a way to keep it down unless requested. It should be a menu option for which ever is your preference. I can't even find it with VCDS.
As person above states just fit a micro switch in an accessible area to switch which will suit everyone's taste either up or down. VCDS isn't the solution to everything the ol brain has to be used also (Audi Tech)
you could add a switch button to the motor connector, so you can turn on and off motor .. just in case you want the screen to fold in without removing the screen again.
JF Car Stuff Pretty sure that our systems run quite evenly. I own a 2013 A7 and the white little string that retracts my screen snapped. Think it’d be a easy fix? 😖
@@ClavinZKL You should be able to see the string through the small crack on the left side of your screen and if it’s snapped it’s definitely an easy fix. Let me see if I’m able to find the video on here in which it gives you a step by step, that’s the one that I used and it wasn’t hard at all. I haven’t had that car for about 4 years now, crazy thing is that it ended up getting totaled up in Park City, UT. Hit a buck and that was that. Miss it, to be honest with you. 😮💨
i am getting an error from VCDS "Rotation Mechanism for Display Module Front 003 - Mechanical Failure" Would you please let me know if it is related to unplugging that cable?
I remember it was very tricky but I managed. Maybe the clip right behind the screen didn't click but the it's not noticeable if the ones on the sides do.
Thanks. I did this just 5 min ago. Works perfekt. The screen will never flip my phone to the floor anymore😆
I hate that so much. It makes no sense to even have a screen flip.
Lol, do you have a phone holder in its way? 😆

Thanks for taking the time to let me know! 😌
Thank you for this video, I am a sales rep and I get in and out of my car 40-50 times a day, this was driving me crazy
Haha, this gotta be the best reason ever! :D
this is a brilliant way to solve a annoying problem!
This should of been an option from the beginning
Hi there I have a question I have Audi a6 c7 2011 Sline if I change screen display new model form 2013 to 2011 dose it fits ?
Cool. That white string that moves the screen in and out broke, so decided to to do this, and I like it so far....now stays out all the time..👍
yeah mine stopped retracting aswell and i suspect its the string. can u only fix the string or did u let yours as is?
You are the man.
I appreciate you sharing this with us.

Thanks for this vid, saved me from a broken motor!!

Wonder if the screen stays on when closed with the switch change you mentioned. Could become a heat issue. Maybe the screen on/off is mechanical.
I was thinking about this option but I didn't want to cut any original cable and I didn't want to wait either to order adaptors that would fit.

@@GCervantes242424 so.. 4 yrs later was it an easy fix? mine stopped retracting (but it makes the sound) so i assumed its the string aswell.

If the screen was working but all of a sudden no, but all wires and everything connected what could it be?
Power cables are probably cut and they touched together and fuse blown on the right side dash.
Great job! Doesn't it pop a fault code on the Dash and/or VCDS Scan due to the motor being disconnected?
Thanks! Dash, no. VCDS I didn't check.

im actually trying to figure out why mine wont retract back, i think this gave me an idea
Did you ever figure out why? Mine is doing the same thing 🥲
Same bro mine is stuck I can hear it try but it won’t retract
You did a good job!
You forgot to put the last bit the tighten the screws!
Don't try this with smaller screen! You won't get the last trim in place without folding the screen!

nope, did mine with small screen and trim snapped back in no problem.
Start on the left side ;)
Horrible
