    If i remember it right, this is from some video tapes series published by the central conservatory in Beijing for technical demonstration to other young piano learners who try to learn those pieces - so accuracy and clarity are the most important attributes in this performance for the purpose.

    Not my favorite performance of this piece but Yuja is amazing and the fact a 12 year old can play this is amazing. This piece for it to be effective must be much faster and played with more reckless abandon in the heavy forte sections. I’ve experienced this piece played in ways that are really exciting.

    It’s need a good interpretation from a 12 year old. However, you go to any music school in Russia or any CIS states and you will find at least a few pianists who play at this level, if not better. Unfortunately, very few make it internationally. Nowadays, marketing is much more important than talent or the quality of the musician.

      @@hjc5523 you could sense the “rage” in Hoffman’s playing, and the rapid tempo was part of that. Of course Hoffman was one of the great pianists of the 20th Century, right up there with Rubenstein, Rachmaninoff, Horowitz, and others of that ilk. And, by no means was I being negative about Yuja’s playing…it was top notch for a 12 year old. Many piano students in their teens and early twenties have failed to do as well.

    • @quaver1239
      @quaver1239 Месяц назад +3

      Yes, well, at age 12 Yuja probably didn’t have quite as much experience as Mr Hofmann at age 62. But she was fresh, clear, unjaded, with a great memory.

    • @gerhardprasent3358
      @gerhardprasent3358 Месяц назад +4

      NO, the Hoffmann- version is much too fast, it's Allegro molto, not Presto - this kid has a perfect tempo - everything is clear (and not overhasted). Hoffmanns tempo was not playable on piano from 1795!

    Technically brilliant, but in common with most Chinese pianists, technical skill is always uppermost, (c)Lang (c)Lang is the supreme example of this. Speed and technical virtuosity always come well before musical sensitivity. A brilliantly boring performance.

      @@MalexX_music I don't know if you're just trolling, but you don't seem to understand this Beethoven piece very well. The reason why Yuja Wang isn't playing this piece with an obvious sense of musicality is because there isn't much in the piece to begin with (it's not Beethoven's best). But there are many subtle nuances in her playing that is impressive for a 12 year old.
      And by the way, I'm a classical pianist and piano professor and am currently teaching this piece to an 11 year old prodigy, so I know the difficulties of this piece very well.
