Thanks for posting this. I take the liberty to provide some details: Boulez, 12 Notations pour piano, VI : Rapide followed of course br P. Glass' étude no. 6. Few people would think of using a Boulez work as an encore!
Even less would think of combining Boulez and Glass in one encore. Perhaps an intelligent message in regards of the perspective of musical evolution ? Who know (except YW)... =)
I guess I'm just a grumpy old curmudgeon, but this is the first of *many* Yuja Wang videos I have watched that I did not upvote. Being old and set in my ways, I guess I prefer _music_ instead of thunderous noise. I'm sure her playing was faultless as always... but with these selections how could anybody tell?
What to do. She’s a young woman, and naturally she likes to experiment. I also feel she tries to shake up the classical music scene in whatever little ways she can. I’m an old guy, but I have never felt comfortable with the very unnatural set-up we have nowadays in our concert halls, so I welcome any fresh breeze. (Thank you for the "heels on" reply!)
Douglas, I'm rather with you, but try to remind myself that if Yuja wants to play something, then there is pretty certainly music there. Well, somewhere.
In an interview concerning her Carnegie marathon of Rach concertos, she mentioned that she gets bored of playing those. I imagine that it's vital for her soul to find different/non-standard music to perform.

There was a Ravel Tombereau de Couperin (free interpretation), non ?

Thank you, It’s the the norm to give credit to the composer as well as the performer.
Thanks for titles (Boulez, 12 Notations pour piano, VI : Rapide, P. Glass' étude no. 6)

The piano repertoire is immense. It's refreshing listening something different from the regular repertoire eeeeveryone plays.
