All the XC600's and XC700's from 1997 and 1998 had the issue of the hood popping out of the guides which caused cracking around vents just above the exhaust pipe. Polaris went to a more flexible hood with the XC-10 chassis, completely different from the material they used on the original Indy hoods. The dash area and hood hinges were unique too. Like you mentioned, the only fix is to install the additional hood straps at the midway point like the XCR440.

The SLP , Touque Stops , both sides , locks the motor in place ! Minimal clutch definition , and a Venom Twin Tied secondary is smooth

I feel like that has always been the perfect motor.
And I think those are the best sounding twin pipes on the planet, nice find!

Garrett I like the earlier version when the power valve was adjustable like on my old 2001 pro-x 600 having that adjustment was nice and they had spring kits you could change, different stiff or softer springs for tunability.

That thing is so sweet. I've never seen one for sale but I keep my eyes peeled. It seems to be the year of the xlt. There are about a dozen for sale right now but I already have one.

Mornin! (In wisconsin at least) I have a 98 xc 700 that has a few goodies under the hood, it’s a 771 running Yamaha watercraft pistons, ported, clutched, PSI pipes with stingers. I’d appreciate if I could get ahold of you via email to send you a few pictures and ask a few questions. I can’t find ANY details online about the pipes and I’ve read that the owner of PSI is not very useful even if you do get ahold of him. Thanks!

This is way off topic but wondering if anyone has ever tried to put a different style airbox (without steering shaft running through it) into a 2001 Edge X 600?

This xc700 would dust your 600 cfi on a bad day. This is a 120mph sled I bet my stock 700 does 107mph on hard pack
