i bought that same set in early 98 for my 98 xc from chopper city $ 350 still have them look like new got +maybe 200 miles on them i bought three 98 xc 700 this summer plan building one with the pipes
My cousin had one and nothing can beat it in a lake drag, a new 97 700SKS vs the new sleds today will not be able to match this sled off the line in a lake drag. Ever try start this sled in -30F weather 🤣 Still an awesome sled!
As always love it..and thanks again for your videos..as always still no snow in Hamlin New York..... keep it up bro. And that sled sounds amazing.... I think you should keep it... have a good one.
Dude that sounds so cool I’ve been riding sleds for about 4 yea4s and I’m only 14 and I have a 1993 500 classic with a 1989 engine that I rebuilt my self
My man I rode a 92 indy trail 500 for years. I rebuilt that fuji once and we beat it up towing 2 Gt snowracers and scrapping lol when I pulled it apart after hearing some weird noises the crank bearings literally fell apart in my hand and or in the engine. She still did 80mph across the lake on my way home to find out she needed some love. Enjoy that thing and it will treat you well for a while. Good sled for a newcomer too, fast enough to hurt yourself but not quick enough to toss you off the back of the seat from a standing start🤪
hell yah man glad it’s winter and the daily uploads are coming back! keep the flipper to the gripper and fucking send it but ride safe out there man and keep you the great work and content been watching for a while now!
A 220 cylinder does not run 150 psi. 824 & 220 are actually fairly common to be mix and matched. When these sleds were new if there was a failure on one side, Polaris did not replace a 220 cylinder with a 220… they used 824’s as they are the updated cylinder and are less prone to cracking at the exhaust sub ports. 824’s actually make more peak HP. 220’s have a slightly stronger low/mid range and run at about 200 rpm less then the 824’s.
My 1998 snow checked XC 700 , came with 220 jugs , psi gauge screwed in the heads said 150 psi , my buddy’s floor model XC 700 with 880 jugs said 120 psi , gauge can off the snap-on truck , maybe it was 824 , not 880 , but the numbers don’t lie , and the 220’s had more aggressive porting , bought a P.S.I. Center dump pipe for it , couldn’t get it jetted right , had to send my pipe and stinger muffler back to them , they didn’t know Polaris had 2 different sets of jugs that year , ran 215 mains in my flat slides
Yup.. it's SLP early Build pipes. In 1999 they went to the one muffler for ERA sound decidable. I still have the catalog from 1997.right through to now. They are faster then your 800!! Sled weight is 104 lbs lighter. R12 helix taken a machine shop cut an extra 1/16th deep in the snap ring. will give you 5 more MPH on top speed. So your looking at 112mph with low elevation gearing. but it's the mid range!! I'm looking for one for myself!
Sounds good I used to have a 1990 Polaris Indy 650 with htg triple pipes they didn't go into a can they were just straight pipes I tell you what that thing was pretty loud to the only problem is I didn't have them wrapped and nothing one of them exit down by your foot so that kind of sucked and the next problem was sometimes the ignition switch for the key would malfunction if it would get too hard no big deal had to kill switch that was back when I was younger like you said back when we were kids I'm in my thirties now nobody gave a s*** about those nobody give a s*** about those wedge style Polaris my opinion is I think that's the best looking ones thank you for all your great videos and hard work hope you have a great holiday

i have the same color scheme 700, but its a rmk with the stock pipe. it sounds like a boggy pig compared to that thing with those pipes. i want twins now
Sounds awesome! Looks like the same pipes I just put on my 700edge. Mines got the single muffler tho came off a 99 and I modified it to fit. Sounds very similar to mine
@@MidnightPolaris800 runs great actually! I dunno where this idea came from honestly especially when it seems like no-one has actually tried it they all just boo-hoo it. According to this guy's videos they're basically the same just the ves has higher compression and ves obviously. port timing is the same at WOT which is where these pipes work anyways.
@@MidnightPolaris800 not to mention slp used these pipes in conjunction with thier heads which woulda brought the non VES compression to be the same as the ves engines stock and they still worked fine and made 150hp supposedly!

Can I ask a quick question, you did a 770 build correct I’m looking at doing a 754 build do you know much about the 754, am I correct that you need 84mm sleeves and get them pressed in along with 84mm pistons, do you need cylinder spacers
84mm cylinder bore. Pistons would likely be 83.9x. Yes you would have to have the cylinder bored & sleeved. Head dome reshaped. Shim for under the cylinder was to correct pin hight differences on my 770 as I ran a Yamaha 65U over bore piston. I believe a stock bore Yamaha 65U piston was 64mm and would work in a 754 build, which would mean if you run those pistons you also would also need the shim. There may be other pistons, with the correct wrist pin diameter, hight, and bore and wouldn’t need a shim but you would ha e to do some research on that.
@@thatbigblock7007 that’s an item you would likely have to make, I doubt anyone would sell the shims but... I could be wrong. Look into engine tech/sever racing. Also SLP sold big bores for these, might be worth asking around with them as well.
