yup loved this video man. i listen to every word this guy speaks not too many people that have been working around these engines and machines since they were built i'd listen to him over a dealer.
Very good info! I had my 05' XC700 for 10 years before I gave it away. No problems when it came to power output. Very solid motor, but out of all the Liberty motors is the 97 700SKS. I'm a fan of the '98 600SKS also! Great Vid!
My ves 02 700 was always considerably quiet idling and mostly throughout the whole rpm range. I wish i would have done a comparison when i had my 02s. I still have my 01 xc 700 non ves in storage. Its mint. Ill have to do a video on it and my carls cycle 660 01 xc 500. I like the content though man and ive been passing on your channel info to fellow sled heads
Great info! Your wealth of knowledge about these things blows my mind lol. Can't relate to the 700 motors but currently running a 05 switchback 600ves and the things impressed me so far👍
I had a white/blue 2004 xc800. Stock 105mph. I removed the ves valve's, pipe plugged the hole under the black plastic cap, raised the ignition timing (hold down the reverse button until fast blinks)....130mph sled nobody could beat...
Thinking of putting a 2004 700 ves head on a 2002 700 (non ves), you think that would work well based off what your talking in your vidoe??? Thanks for any amd all input!!
My 99 non ves is getting 2002 VES jugs already got the head with the dual cooler option (hole on bottom of thermostat) here's. My question whonall runs thermostats??
So if I swap a ves head onto a non ves motor do I need to advance the timing at all? Or am I essentially canceling that out with the switch in compression
now say you’d a ves cylinder head sitting around would it be worth it to swap it onto a older non ves 700 now obviously won’t know exact numbers but do you have a rough idea of how much an increase in power that would make ? Assuming probably have to dial it in tune carbs n stuff etc but I’m an idiot when it comes to this stuff so sorry if my questions convoluted thanks .
Hard to tell an exact number, but the early VES 700’s made near 10HP more then the non ves 700’s. But that is with higher CR heads, different timing, different carbs etc later ves 700’s (2003+) made around 5hp more then a non ves. The 700 VES port layout is what a lot of people used as “trail porting” for non ves 700’s. So there are gains from the swap, but an exact number is unknown.
@@AKproXR thanks for the info I own a few old Polaris sleds n I’ve never really been a Polaris guy so trying to find out as much as I can about these things thanks again !
@AkproXR so is there actually any difference from cranks/bottom ends from ves to non ves? I want to bolt on 02 VES jugs on my 99 bottom end cannot be done? (obviously other than the drilled out oil galories for deleting oil injection from 97-01)
Ves top end will bolt right up. The biggest difference in bottom ends is minor case revisions (for example, where to torque stop contacts the cases is different) and the 97-98 cranks have the locator ring in a different place then the 99+ cranks do.
Hey man. Youre deadly informative. Thx alot. I have 06 rmk 600 and one of my power valves started pushing n spitting lots of burned oil ... what does that mean. If i clean them will it fix or does that mean other things going on . Pls help. Keep making deadly videos for us boys
@AKproXR when i pulled them apart the shiny side was out and i found a rip i think the bellows were put in back wards? It should be the textured side facing out correct and the shiny side in ?
has anybody actually swapped a VES head onto an older one? Not that I want to get rid of my purple head, but in my area premium fuel is the only non-ethanol fuel we can get and I know what ethanol does to carbs, so I always run premium anyway.
I just bought a hey 2000 players XC 600 none of vest motor it’s hard to get going and I won’t stay running when it gets going what could it be it has 75 psi of compression I don’t know if that’s normal or not
I might need to look into doing that head mod, so far I have 3 diffrent aftermarket heads for a 824 non ves, hotseat, chopper city, and union bay maybe I should do the ves head, you ever run it before
I have not run one yet, but if I ever come across a ves head I fully plan on doing so. If you ever want to sell any of those aftermarket heads let me know! I like collecting stuff like that.
I've got a 700VES I'm currently working om installing a set of slp twins but they came from a non VES 700. Everyone said they won't work cuz the port timing is way different but from what your saying it should work just fine! Would you agree with that?
No doubt, would you be willing to make another video? Diving a little deeper into the differences? Like port dimensions and how far down the ports start etc...
Thats all good information but I have a couple things to add: the 700 non ves heads vary alot between modles and years, i had several that I compared and found that even though the volume was very close some had tighter squish clearance than others, probably enough to affect performance. Also the bottom side of the transfer ports are better on the ves cylinders as well which I feel is contributing to better performance.
Not sure, but the most iv personally had was well over 10K on a 98 700. It out lived 3 sleds, and I never rebuilt it. Finally sold it when it was in a 01 prox chassis
Well , it's more of a general sled question, Got 95 xlt on trade runs strong pulls good but let go of throttle and engine braking slows down way quicker than it should , so speedo doesn't work , in your experience would a failing driveshaft bearring have symtoms like this ? Thanks for your time
Excellent explained my friend. Not many people know what the ves actually does.

Great video. Question: is the motor in a 2000 xc700 deluxe similar to a '98?
love your vids!
The difference might seen minute, but the difference while riding is noticeable
Do a race between the ves and non ves 700 once you get em going
Be sure to install correct ves spring for your altitude
So, could you use the normal old lower compression head on the ves to get better throttle response and burn lower octane feul?
Got a2005 Polaris inderustries edge touring 600 ves 50th anniversary sled could u tell me what the gauge soft vs ferm is on it
How bout the 01 700? Is that a good one to grab for racing?

99% chance a bellow is ripped. Time to service your VES

Ok i have 95 and 98 here but i think that's 91 and 93 over there, should be ok running 95 rhen
93 octane in the USA
Have you ever blocked off the decompression ports? I've read up on it. Not a lot of info on if it's worth it or not.
Not worth the effort from what I have heard.
See, I've heard you can get better throttle response by doing it? 🤷♂️ I was considering doing it to mine. Pretty easy process.

I was actually curious if it made a diffrence for if/when I buy a sled like that and good to now it does make more power..thanks!:)
@Dawsen Whiteis yeah I watch every video he posts but I was curious
Ride a ves, and then ride a non ves. Huge difference in performance. The ves system is just a little more maintenance though.
Can i buy s 700 non ves motor
I have a 2003 SKS 700 ves. does anyone know if running castrol oil clogs the powervalves? Keep up the good content @AKproXR
Exhaust valves get dirty much faster if you're running conventional oil. Run a synthetic oil or just clean them every season
Running regular fuel compared to premium gums them up a lot faster also
