I've been watching all of your videos man. A lot of good tech tips and knowledge you share. Just picked up my second 97 xc 700 after getting rid of my last one during the crappy winter here in Maine last year.
Great vid bud, I'm in the process of bringing my dads old 96 thundercat back to life. 900 triple bored over to 1107, dnd pipes, vforce reeds, lectron jetless carbs. Was once radared at 137 mph 220 hp on Av gas.
I agree the 440 is just a race sled that is already cut up anyway, that 700 is cherry and deserves it, I had one just like it I regret selling it all the time
Want to see the 440 with the nos decals... But the 700 is sooo close, i guess a slow burn with the 440,finish the 700 .Then back to back to back 440 episodes. Doing a great job!!
awesome video as usual bud,now sprinkle some of that snow down to your neighbors to the south of you ,BC ,if you ever in the Kelowna Area once the madness clears, hit me up,will show you my collection.cheers!~
I almost bought one of these around 2001, went for a '00 SRX since I was doing more lake riding at the time (and they are such damn cool sleds). No doubt that triple sounded amazing with a silencer on it. As much as I loved the SRX there was always a little regret not getting the XC....just that I grew up on Polaris and seemed a more well rounded sled...maybe nows the time to start looking for one...🤔
My buddy had a '97 Ultra...also a nice sounding sled and pulled hard when it ran. 🤷♂️ I was always partial to the sound of an Indy 650 with triple pipes....best sound in the world to me. 🎶 🎵
Man I guess I need to move to Alaska. It's been so mild in Maine this winter so far, we only have 2 inches of snow and half our lakes aren't even frozen.. :( my sleds are waiting patiently in my lean-to lol

those old polaris xc s really were incredibly fast. i had a 98 xc 600 that would out top end my brothers 97 mach 1 700 triple! and i currently own ski doos.
My buddy hit a road crossing on the ice at about 65 and it was not pretty. I felt bad cuz I told him to lead the way and it could have easily been me. Stay safe out there!
Love the ol 700s. Had a 2002 RMK 144" 700 VES and it was a ripper! Now I have a 2000 RMK 136" with a 98 700 with the 220 jugs and slightly worked over heads/ timing and she screams! Suck awesome motors.
I have a 98 XC 700 2 cylinder that ive had since 2015, bought it just for shits and giggles. Still take it out a fair bit to this day, very fun sled, the thing is a freaking rocket. I'd be scared as shit goin at the speed you're going here though haha
i bought a new 700 and i had it checked by radar, would bury the speedo easily at 120, but actual measured radar was 113, i raced several clutched 700s they would usually get about 1 sled length on me at holeshot, but i always reel them in and pass them on the big end. best sled polaris ever built
Nice runs. My 05 700 in my avatar photo only hits 94 on hard packed lake, on gps. Polaris detuned these big blocks eo bad starting in 2003, its sad. But anyways both sleds deserve to be restored. However in this case its easy for me to choose. DO THE 700... that white is so gorgeous.

Any way you could guide me on getting this thing trail ready? are you in any of the facebook forums?
Holy fucking shit. That thing is so fast. You are easily hitting a legit 100. Plus on that sketchy ass ice road out there. New Years was wild out there man. I’ve known multiple people to be at near death because of crashes on big lake. Most recent was a guy named randy on starboard cove.
🙋♂️Guilty on crashing a sled on the lake at high speed, hit a newly formed ice heave...didn't get totalled but about a $750 bill, and that was 20 years ago. Luckily walked away with nothing but scrapes and hurt pride. Watched a fatal years earlier across the lake from where I had crashed...its a reservoir, I was on high ground..one sled leaving a bar another ripping up the shore, both easily going high 80s...couldn't get their attention. Head on....guess I didn't learn from that, had to try it myself. Be safe out there.

1) I'm not a Polarisguy but your tach seems to be reading 8500 rpm, I believe the correct peak rpm for this sled is about 8000. 2) I had no idea the speedo was that way off, I read like 118 on it, and the gps says 102,8?
Stock, this engine would like 7800 with 220 cylinders. 800 with 824 cylinders. With a little of my magic sprinkled on it and these pipes, it actually runs happiest around 8200~ rpm. In this video I was slightly over reving it, but it seemed to like it and still pulled hard.
