      Thanks so much Louise. I've decided that I don;t have space for them this year - they just take too long and I need to focus on the wedding flowers but I'll probably be back with Lisis in 2026 😁

    I did use the toothpick method and it worked like a dream. So easy - just the smallest bit of moisture on the pointed end and I was able to pick up 2 consecutive seeds with one dip :) Can't wait for these beautiful flowers !

    @cottoverdi please can you do a video about the temperature to keep the seedlings at and when you plant them out in the UK?

    • @cottoverdi
      @cottoverdi  11 дней назад +1

      Hi Kate, I'm not growing them this year but they should germinate at about 18°C and then I take them off the heat mat. I keep my seedling room at about 12°C and then I would only plant them out after my last frosts - for me, that would be late April. Hope this helps. 😊🌸

    Thank you Annette, the Lisi are just gorgeous. I shall look forward to seeing them in flower. I don't have room to start them off myself. Such a palette of wonderful pinks and the white were just yummy.

      Thanks Penelope. Sowing these seeds has brought a bit of summer sunshine into January. The seed sowing frenzy will start in force in Feb! 😁🌱

      They ar so beautiful - some of mine have germinated in just 11 days - but be warned that they are tiny and grow really slowly until planted out.

      Hi Diane, I absolutely will. I'm hoping to create a series of Lisianthus videos because I know they can be daunting to sow from seed. Thanks for watching. 💚🌸

    Fabulous tutorial. I hadn't realised that Eustoma is now Lisianthus, - a much prettier name. No wonder I couldn't find seed as putting the old name in the search engine. Such a lovely lot of varieties. May ask wheer you buy your seeds please? Thank you

      Thanks Be. I've bought from various places in the past. Nickys Nursery, Chiltern Seeds etc.

    Can you not grow lisianthus without a heat mat?

    • @cottoverdi
      @cottoverdi  2 года назад +1

      Hi Marie, you can try to germinate the seed without a heat mat but it depends on the temperature of the environment because the seed will germinate when the soil temperature is between 70-75°F (21-24°C). Sometimes this can be achieved above a radiator or on top of a fridge or if your climate is warmer. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

      Hi, if you live in UK, try Chiltern Seeds, Nickys Nursery Ltd and Plants of Distinction

    Hi, where do you get the seeds from I can only find one variety on chiltern seeds

      Hi Marie, I used Chiltern Seeds but also Nicky's Nursery and a few others. It's a shame but you really have to search hard. I hope you have some luck

      Hi, how long do they need to stay n the heat mat and is a hated propagator ok to use instead?

  • @junewhiteman5846
    @junewhiteman5846 2 года назад

    Where do you get your seeds Annette? I’ve not had much success with the packet I sowed over a month ago. One little seedling has made an appearance. I don’t have a heat mat so they’re on the kitchen windowsill

    • @cottoverdi
      @cottoverdi  2 года назад

      Hi June, I got most of my seeds from Nicky's nursery and some from Plants of Distinction. They really do like it to be super warm in order to germinate, so maybe try moving them to an area above a radiator until they've germinated? Good luck.
