"It doesn't matter what you look like. You can be tall or short, or fat or thin, or ugly or handsome... like your father. Or you can be black or yellow or white, it doesn't matter. What does matter is the size of your heart and the strength of your character." Really wish there were more shows like this. And seriously though, we would've been better human beings if we had listened to Herman.
I saw an Instagram post with that last clip attached to it yesterday. That’s what brought me here. I completely agree with you 100%, we would live in a much better world if we’d just listen to the advice of our past. Now I want to go back and watch these episodes, including the one that contains the advice about the police, because I want to see what he was talking about! I wonder what people have to say about that one now.
I was a kid when the show first started. I loved it then and I still do love it. Some people don't get it: Herman is a type of Frankenstein's Monster. His wife is the daughter of a Vampire, and Eddie took after her. LMAO. GOOD STUFF!
I also think that it was clever to bring Marilyn into the picture. She is the only one who took after the HUMAN side. Although she is gorgeous, they act like she is the ugly one in the family. LMAO
The size of your heart and the strength of your character, words of wisdom that are true even today. Those were the days my friends, those days are needed again.
@Rom Rom Ji, I am but a poor old American and don’t understand your language. I barely get by with knowing what I know about English. Please Translate your comment for me. Thank you 🙏
Fred Gwynne was only a young man of 38 when the Munsters TV series began in September 1964. He was 40 when the series ended in 1966. But he was wise well beyond his years & although he portrayed a rather goofy Frankenstein-type monster in "The Munsters", he always had a strong moral compass, words of wisdom, he was a good family man & his heart was always in the right place ❗❤
This is my favorite show Herman Munster. I've been watching this and I was a kid. Now I'm a old man. Close to 50 something years old. And I've been watching it since I was a kid and a teenager is a very good show. I will let my grandkids watch this show is a very very good show. That's my opinion.

It actually had been going that way for a while astonishingly, for about a decade. On TV, The Rifleman with Chuck Conners did something like that even earlier (the show started in the late 50s), with Mr. McCain and his son helping a Chinese laundry facing prejudice. In movies, the 1950 film Broken Arrow famously supports Native Americans and features a US general saying that the Bible "says nothing about pigmentation of the skin". Two Academy Award winning movies in the late 50s, South Pacific and Sayonera, even showed interracial marriage in a positive light. Filmmakers were getting bold by the 60s, and people's eyes were gradually opening.
Grew up watching the Munsters..Fred Gwynne, great actor, attended Harvard, the issue, after this short tv series, he was typecasted, and he had very few acting roles.
I was rememberance for The Munsters: The Complete 1-2 and Final Season (1964-1966) and Movies Collections of years.. The Munsters on history television shows.. I was funny forever..
Did you ever notice how on some episodes Herman looked different? The very first scene for example. I don't know if they changed anything on him or if it was someone different all together but he looked different than the normal Herman I was used to.
~ The early make-up jobs on all of them were more elaborate than the later. I'm guessing the later ones were more time efficient, as it took hours, especially for Fred Gwynne.
Munster was Herman's surname. Grandpa was an in-law, surname Dracula, Lily's father. They had two different last names, as they were from two different families.
A people really liked the Adams family who were human rebels, but they LOVED the polite, gentle, loving Herman and Lilly who were old Monsters. Actually Herman was not that old, only 150 years.
Funfact: One of Herman Munster's three actors played Jud Crandall from Pet Sematary (deliberately misspelled in order to emphasize the poor grammar of a young kid). It's no lie
@Kitten Lyric John Kerry was never in the White House. He tried, but he failed. Herman Munster would be a great president though. And he was a hard working man. Herman Munster would never try to buy cigarettes with fake $20s.
It must have been gruelling for Fred, Evonne and Al to go through two hrs of make-up every day, these actors where dedicated to their craft, and it shows!
At that time I still hit up Lilly munster and Marilyn also for a date i said a date ok? What ever happenes after that between the 3 of us is confidential LOL
"Herman's Child Psychology" (Season 2, Episode 1) had to be one of the oddest episodes of the series, and that's saying something considering the show in question. It's made plainly obvious that Herman is attracted to a bear and insinuated that he might be willing to cheat on Lily with the bear. Who would've thought? Potential bestiality in an "innocent" 1960s sitcom.

Herman Munster decades ahead at the time
This is actually good advice from a show the is 60+ years old that is still relevant today.
Not *quite* 60+, thank you - it came out the same year *I* did!
My son and I used to watch this in his room when he was a little boy. He's 38 now, this brings back happy memories. 😊👣💙
Would've been such a beautiful memory isn't it sir?
So your 59 huh
i dont get the dog joke xD

I always liked the Herman Munster character. Despite his imposing appearance, he was a big lovable lug with a heart of gold!
Best show ever.

I so agree. Almost impossible to find such a man now days.
Herman was simultaneously such a doofus but also such a wise and intelligent soul
Obviously, Herman Munster was one of the great minds of our times!
He certainly had a good head on his shoulders - I wonder who it came from...?
R.I.P Fred Gwynne July 10th 1926- July 2nd 1993
I think his last role was in My Cousin Vinnie. He’s absolutely amazing as the judge.
@@danieldaniels7571 I mainly just recognized him just for pet sematary and Herman Munster
The first Munster to pass away. Second was Al Lewis, Yvonne De Carlo then Beverly Owen. We still have Pat Priest & Butch Patrick.
Fred Gwynne passed away when I was 2 yrs old
I loved the first one, only because truest words ever spoken. And every life matters.
Oh the earth cries, how we need more Herman Munster's in today's world
The Munsters is such a good show
Whoever liked my comment THANK YOU
We need more of this, in this day in age.....

Hey Nelson, 50 isn't old! Continue to enjoy life my friend
I always loved Herman as a kid. and that #1 stuck with me. Well done Fred Gwynn, it was apparently hell for him in the suit and makeup.
If I were to choose between this or the Addams family, I’d choose the munsters!🙌🏻
cooler cars!
I choose both. The munsters family values and the addams uniqueness. Plus i love the thing they use for back problem.
Agreed. I find The Munsters more innocent and fun.
Yeah but then there’d be no Lurch... or Cousin Itt 📺
They both were great. Genius shows. Doesn’t exist today.
I love Herman Munster and all of The Munsters...a trippy, very cool family I would've been proud to know
Always loved the Munsters.
Deep thoughts with Herman Munster... The best advice you can't buy.
Herman is amazing..

Herman Munster was the quintessential big lovable lug!

LMAO never expected them to be so normal looking like that. This is remarkable!
Actually in the show they're not aware they're monsters. They always felt sorry for their poor ugly duckling Marilyn.
Started watching the Munsters again a few years ago. The show was way ahead of it's time and friggin hilarious.
I want to hug screenwriters of this show 😭😭😭😭♥️
Love this advice!
Preach Brother Herman!
#1 is so spot on- Who said TV was not educational? lol - Love the Monsters!

Herman is a great philosopher.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
You forgot "give me a house by the side of the road and i'll be a friend to man" from Herman's happy valley episode.
The Munster Family is a very funny show.😂

Munster was Herman's surname. Grandpa was an in-law, surname Dracula, Lily's father. They had two different last names, as they were from two different families.
I have to say as a kid I liked watching re-runs of the Munsters than I did The Adams Family. As an adult I like them both though.
I loved the Muensters, we do need more shows like this. hOLLYWOOD, no mistype, used to be awesome. I wish they could come back, now they just SUCK

I agreed with 1, but these days they don't really care about it.
