    I just bought an R3 myself. I had a GSXR 600 in the past, but I was really attracted to the idea of the 300. I love it! just like you do. Yes, they do say i'll get bored of it, bored of what exactly? The lack of straight line raw power? I'd rather master my craft on this R3 and ride it the best I can, and keep it too. I plan on keeping this baby for a long time. Enjoy your bike, It's awesome looking!

      I forget who said it but they said if you are bored with a 300cc bike take it to a track and you will be humbled
      My opinion is it's more fun going thru gears then hit most city street speeds in 1 gear

    Love it. I bought a 2017 R3 ABS down from a 1500cc Intruder. I freaking love my R3. Such a joy to ride, in every way. I agree, a much bigger engine, only temps you to do bad things.

    • @rosekitten_

      Would you recommend a 2015 r3 for a beginner bike? I was planning on getting it but I've heard that ABS could really be important and make a difference, im just not sure whether to get the 2015 or 2017 with ABS anymore

    Nice to see someone enjoying motorcycling for what it is and learning skills before going with a superbike. You see a lot of ppl getting big bikes to boost their ego, but they lack any real riding ability except for in a straight line, which any monkey can do. I’m looking to get back into riding after being off for about ten years. Stuck between ninja 300, ninja 400, and this r3. Considering cbr 500 as well.

    Beautiful looking bike brother, I myself been riding over 30 years I've had small and big powerful bikes and now looking at getting a 2015 yamaha r3 with only 300 miles practically brand new. I'm not looking at all balls out super speed that you can't legally use on the street but a fun bike that I can really enjoy.

    Every motorcycle enthusiast I know, has a "few" motorcycles in their arsenal. It's not an expensive hobby imo. 2 or 3 different sized bikes is easier and easier to come by. Have a 600/1000 supersport for speed, a dirt bike for off road, and a 250/300(or cruiser bike) to roll on around town.
    I agree with this kid tho, my 2016 R3 is much more fun to ride fast compared to my 2011 ZX6R. Mind you, I do get annoyed with having to drop a gear or two to pass traffic sometimes compared to my 600, but the price is literally HALF of what a new supersport cost. $5200 cash otd at a dealer is what I paid for my 2016 R3 new. I paid $10,900 cash otd for my 2011 ZX6R 6 years ago for it new. Cash had always been king in my motorcycle buying experiences, and will continue to do so. Anyway, back on topic.
    Riding a 250-300cc to it's limits comfortably and confidently vs babying a 600-1000cc supersport being scared as shit of it is not the way to live/learn/ride.
    Get your confidence and skills up on whatever you desire to buy, then have fun with it. That's the true point of the 2 wheel life. Not showing off and doing 120+mph wheelies. Doesn't matter what you ride, as long as you're not in a cage(car) you're having fun 🤙 ride on mis amigos

    • @jonathanthomas7228
      @jonathanthomas7228 7 лет назад

      You need 4 wheels before you buy 2, Dubstep. I'm a dirt bike guy myself, but I'm also 32 & not some kid doing reviews on RUclips(no offense, Zed). Buy the Miata, or better yet, buy a Jeep Wrangler, because the bike will give you everything you need in the Miata, but in a more affordable package. You should be looking to diversify your fun, not package it all in the same kind of fun, which is what the Miata will give you paired with any bike.
      Decent review, btw, Zed. I've been watching reviews on these bikes for a couple of weeks now, & your's is one of the better ones out there, as well as being one of the most informative. Good job!

    I bought the GG Retrofitz R3. The bike still had clay where they mocked up the profile for the fiberglass 70’s GP inspired fairings. I love it, and I’m a super bike owner and restorer (‘76 CB750, CB550 Super Sport, and CB360T). In three weeks I put 3.5K miles on it. Out of all my bikes, the R3 is the smallest displacement, but is both the fastest and most maneuverable of them all. With my riding experience (about 30k) I smoke my group pals on their R7’s, CBR600RR’s, ZX6R’s, and a Crossplane R1 on the famous canyons around San Diego. They only beat me on the straights, but any rider can simply twist the wrist.

I am no doubt going to buy this bike, but I am waiting for the funds.... Since I am in college, it may be a year yet...... But I Can't wait.

    Awesome video, liked and subbed. When you installed the akra exhaust and the power commander, did you feel a perceivable increase in power/response? I've owned mine for about 6 months and am really intrigued at the idea of upgrading the exhaust but dont want to just throw any ole slip on in there and call it a day. Thanks a bunch for such an informative video.

      Hey man thanks! when i installed the power commander, i didn't feel this huge difference, but it was very small. But i would recommend a full system and not a slipon for the R3, more bang for your buck. But glad the video helped!

      MotoStrikerUnit depends on your weight for acceleration. My ninja 300 hits 90 quickly. 4 to 5th gear though. Don’t expect it to be pulling in 6th. I would assume this would not it better. I do only Weight 125 lb though.

    I wouldn't go as far to say that the R3 is a beast. That's like saying my 230 hp Civic si is a beast.

    • @xXxPaRk0uRxXx

      Its a little beast, pushed it to 193kmph which is crazy for a 300cc bike...Theres videos of people doing more. I dont think ill ever need more power

    Great video man! I love the mods you've made to your R3.
    How is the quality of those eBay levers? I don't want to spend a million dollars on a pair of levers. But I also don't want a pair of flimsy cheap feeling ones either.

    • @YamahaZEDOfficial
      @YamahaZEDOfficial  8 лет назад

      thanks man! on the levers, they feel great! the only thing is that after a little bit the color starts to fade if left in the sun too much. I've had them for about 7 to 8 months and it's just now starting to. I mean for $30 levers, that's not bad, compared to like $100 for a single lever haha

    • @FadilKarim
      @FadilKarim 8 лет назад

      Great, I'll order myself a pair then. I'll likely go for black and hope that it fades less than the red color.

    • @FadilKarim
      @FadilKarim 8 лет назад

      The levers don't wiggle around or anything?

    • @YamahaZEDOfficial
      @YamahaZEDOfficial  8 лет назад

      +Fadil Karim yeah, the red ones would turn pink lol. but black works good. I like them. they wiggle slightly, but nothing to make you feel like the lever is going to fall off. is it worth almost $250 for a pair of levers that don't wiggle, nor fade? maybe in the long run, but $30 for a pair that do the job, and looks good, you can't beat the price lol.

    I love the r3 so much, I've been debating between the Ninja 300 and this for my first bike, I really like the looks and power of the r3. It's just so expensive! If I have the money I'll definitely buy the r3. I won't be buying for about 2 years so hopefully the price will drop a bit.

    I wish the RR R3 came with the YAMAHA sticker on the bottom cowling. Makes it looks kind bland down there. anyway, Great bike man. I LOVE my R3, and there's no way i'm at the maximum potential of the bike at the track. I do HATE the tires though, although again, not like I'm going to maximize the grip on that tire anyway lol

    I'm going to buy this exhaust for my r3 and take the baffle out. Will it sound the same like yours? And what is a power commander and do I need that? Cheers

    • @YamahaZEDOfficial
      @YamahaZEDOfficial  8 лет назад

      yup if you buy the full akrapovic gp exhaust and take the baffle out. and you will need a power commander for it as well. The power commander allows you to tune the bike to let it run without the baffle (if you don't tune it correctly or dont have it tuned, taking the baffle out and running the bike like that for a long time will slowly destroy your bike).
