I bought the 2020 yzf r3 about 4 months ago. It has surpassed any stigma I've heard. Its my first bike and it meets any demands I crave. It wheelies, above 100 mph, customisable, excellent handling, weight to hp ratio It perfect. Great launches. All over. Highly recommended. And it cost half as much as other bikes. Remember it's not about what ppl think; it's about what you think.

The reason why Yamaha clutch is sometimes failed to neutral is because the clutch friction plates will expand when the engine gets hot. Try to adjust the clutch adjustment near the clutch handle, and you should do that when the engine hot. Don't forget to use good engine oil too. I hope that helps you.

False neutrals can happen on any bike. The r3 is a track killer. They set sick lap times compared to even some 1000cc. You are right about the mirrors, but just stay observant. Theft is bound to happen if ur bike is sitting out. 5 guys from my group had their bikes jacked this week.

  • @TD402dd
    @TD402dd 5 лет назад +3

I've had mine for four years and never had a false neutral. Make sure your clutch is fully engaged, and you replace the short gear shift lever with one that is actually long enough for adult feet. The shifts will improve and engage the gears properly.

I have the same exact bike. Love this baby to death! I've never had any issues with Neutral, but then again, looking at the comments, I have always worn riding boots. With the phone mount, I've found a way to mount the phone on an off-stem mount to the left of the center stem. It's so much cleaner and the install is easy. You just need to buy a screw and bolt from Home Depot or Lowe's and you have a very solid ram mount. Next, man this bike kills curves. They're so light and nimble and to be able to go on mountains and twisties and practice doing those on this bike, it's so much easier than 600's and liter bikes. So you're absolutely right when it comes to those haters out there that put you down because you have a 321cc bike. Of course you probably can't beat those guys on the highway because anyone can pull the throttle, but you'll definitely always, ALWAYS, beat them on those twisties and they'll be shameful that they said those things. Skill beats ignorance. For the mirrors, I still have to tuck my elbows in whenever I'm trying to look in the mirrors. The mirrors only go out so far and I even have a smaller frame since I'm a short female. Guys out there probably have a harder time since they have a bigger frame. Last but not least, love the bike and the bike will love you! Ride safe out there and thanks for this video!!

  • @ticoruizsuarez
    @ticoruizsuarez 4 года назад +2

The neutral problem it’s actually you, it’s call muzzle memory, where your foot gets used to shift to certain point and not all the way up as it should, there is better phone mount option just need to research a little harder, mirrors, you only need one but most of the time you don’t really need them at all

I started out on an FZ6R,traded to a CBR600RR,Traded up to an R1. The R3 didn't exist when I first started riding. I hopped on my buddies Ninja 300, and to tell you how fun it is to run through all the gears and keeping it close to legal. I feel a small displacement bike will teach you how to be a better rider and keep you from getting speeding tickets at the same time.

I've ridden all sized bikes and low displacement 250s and 300s are the most fun. They're light, nimble, fuel efficient, and you can't get into 150mph trouble. I think these top out at 90 or so and I'd rather get a ticket for going 90 than 150

A lot of which is stated is because of production cost. And honestly it never really hurts the R3 in sales. It's a fun, sexy, and exciting bike. Everyone will turn heads regardless of displacement.

HEY BRO. WELCOME TO RIDING. I STARTED RIDING TWO YEARS AGO AND I STARTED ON A 2017 YZFR3 (MATTE BLACK AND RED). THE R3 IS A GREAT BIKE, EVEN BETTER WITH THE 2019, TO START RIDING ON. I DID EXPERIENCE SOME FALSE NEUTRALS BUT IT WAS MY FAULT. AFTER ADJUSTING MY SHIFTER DOWN, WHICH ALLOWED ME TO TAP OUT AT THE TOP WITHOUT FULLY FLEXING MY TOES PASS THEIR NATURAL POINT, I HAD NO MORE ISSUES. SN... MAKE SURE YOUR CLUTCH IS PROPERLY ADJUSTED TOO, THE TWO DEVICES WORK IN TANDEM. KEEP US POSTED ON IF THAT HELPS. OK BROTHER, GOTTA GO FOR A RIDE NOW, BOUGHT ME A NEW 2018 MT07, HIGH VIZ!!

I have owned my 2019 Yamaha R3 for a year in a half now. 14k miles on it from 0 miles brand new.
    1. False Neutral sucks, happens constantly.
    2. doesn't apply to me.
    3. doesn't matter to me.
    4. Everyone seems pretty cool to me with my 300 cc bike. Online haters don't even count.
    5. Mirrors don't bug me, I can see pretty wide with them, but you do have to spend some time to play with it.
    6. What I HATE - Stop lights don't register my light bike.
    7. The yamaha stickers. I took them off and the bike looks so much badass.
Other than that, I weight 300 lbs and can do easily 80 on the freeway, and taking the bike on corners is extremely solid and agile and keeps pace with higher cc bikes.
I love mine and it was the best decision ever made.

I have the same bike and it happened a lot on hard acceleration. When you go hard you have to bang the gears harder when you shift quick you can get a little lazy with the sift and not quite lock it in before let the clutch out. Hope this helps. I haven’t had problems since I started this.

The false neutral thing pisses me off so much, even when I’m on a full tank of gas I’ll get a false neutral. It’s not often, but it seems to happen whenever I really CANT afford it to happen. I’m in NYC and this is my everyday bike, so whenever I false N people think I’m a shit head for revving right next to their window but I’m not doing it intentionally 😭 Also, when you shift the bike the gear indicator won’t even show you’re in a gear even if you shift up as hard as you could, not sure if it has to do with the clutch but you kinda need to dump the clutch a bit for the bike to lock in the gear. I still love it to pieces tho, great learners bike.

i love my r3, really fun toy and it's pretty so good buy in my book. i agree with some of the things you mentioned, especially the ram mount issue. only other thing i'd add to the list is that the helmet lock is in a really annoying spot. you have to take the seat off, hook your helmet on, scratch your seat fairing a bit before giving up and just taking your helmet with you. some of the older bikes i had put the helmet lock somewhere accessible on the side of the bike and i really wish theyd have done that

I used to ride a lighter smaller bike and we have this twisty mountain area where everyone goes to ride and practice and prove them selves. Going up hill my smaller bike smaller displacement got beat the hell up by everyone, but going back down being lighter and more nimble I destroyed them easily. Going down would take a regular car about 30mins, a decent bike rider 15- 20 mins, I was able to get down about 12 mins, my bike being so much smaller and manuverable just snakes my way down. Like water down a ducks back it was amazing

1 year later on my '19 R3 with over 6500 kms and have had none of the complaints you have.
    - Shift with confidence, don't "slip" into 2nd.
    - I have the RAM mount, and it is perfect where I have it. Almost center and does not even budge slightly. (I should do a video)
    - the ONLY negative comments you'll find on the R3 (or lower cc bikes) are in comment sections of RUclips, and I'll bet they don't even own a bike! lolll I get showered with compliments at meets from guys/girls and those with bigger bikes. The R3 is sexy!
    - every bike has the same mirror problem, check your blind spots like you were taught in training.
Alright enough chit chat and more vroom vroom...

My thoughts on your things you hate:
    1. False neutrals - I never had a problem with it. I guess it is because I rode a not so well kept XJ6 before I bought R3 and I really had to press on the shift lever to click it into next gear, so It stuck with me. Though, I occasionally miss the gear when going from 1st to 2nd :D Also, I have noticed that shifts are much smoother above 8500 rpm, at least on my R3.
    2. Phone mount - I still don't have a mount on mine, but I have ordered one on Aliexpress to see if it will be usable before I cash out for a better one. I have ordered the one that installs where mirrors are mounted on the handlebars. I know R3 has its mirrors on the fairing, but Yamaha have used the same controls on R3 and MT-03 and MT-03 mounts its mirrors on the handlebars. You have those mounts on your R3 just under the rubber cap. I hope it'll work because I plan about 1600km round trip through my country when I get on vacation.
    3. Exploit - About that hotwire exploit. I live in a small place which is on the island, so basically everyone knows everyone. Though I plan to get some kind of protection for my bike with tracking included.
    4. Jokes - My colleagues at work tend to mock me a bit, but it is all fun and games really. Though, I have explained to them that for Yamaha the lower the number the faster the bike and that, from fastest to slowest it is: R1, R3, R6, R125. It was lol moment about 2 days later when they finally got that I was mocking them back. Some bikers from my town do comment that it is too small, that I should've got bigger bike etc. but I don't really care. And just few days ago I went for a little 300km ride and most bikers that I met were actually liking the bike and showing real interest in it. I rode with a friend and she was on her Ninja 300. The same thing, no mocking at all.
    5. Mirrors - Yeah, I hate them too. But for what I need them I can use them, if I need to see more I just turn my head.
As for thing that I hate about it, it is not really bike's fault: It still hasn't launched officially in my country. It was announced, sellers started to take orders and then Yamaha decided that it will come only in 2020. So my dealer brought me one in from Germany or France, not sure really. So, I currently can't buy any OEM accessories, and I would really like to have new turn signals, side protection, higher windscreen and rear seat cowl. But in few months time it will be available for me to buy those things.

Ok I use to ride a 550 Yamaha Maxim as my first bike back in 99 until I hit 2 pot holes and wrecked. I have not had my own bike since then and also have had 3 different surgeries on my right wrist so I am not sure how my wrist will handle the bike or any bike. I have sat on many bikes at the dealers and the R3 was the best feeling for my wrist and body. I am looking at buying one here really soon and also have been looking at the Yamaha MT07 but still like the look of the R3 the most. RUclips has a lot of videos out on bikes and gives good and bad on them all so like I said after doing my reseach I will be getting the R3 and you can do a lot of modifications to the bike from what I have seen.

I started out with an ‘04 Yamaha YZF 600R, I’m going to get this R3 and I’m watching reviews. It’s seems like a perfectly good bike, no matter what people say. Obviously I’ll test ride it first lol but it’s more about the riding and freedom instead of speed.. (plus I made a deal with the fiancé that she’ll be okay with my bike as long as it doesn’t go faster than my old one XD)

Everyone keeps talking about fast this, fast that.
Going fast is useless on public roads unless you like doing things illegal.
"Quick" should be the term that is used and that's what really matters on a motorcycle, torque and acceleration. An R3 has the torque and acceleration of an M5. Plenty for public roads.
Who cares how fast it goes over the speed limit.

What Yamaha has done with the R3 is what I wish manufacturers would of done years ago. Back when the 250 Ninja was the only game in town, and I'm talking before the redesign when it looked straight outta 1993 lol. Inverted Forks and styling, at a glance you can't tell it apart from the larger bikes. I am seriously considering one since because they are light weight, plenty of power and can actually be ridden harder out on the curves.

Just letting people know if you want to break the engine in the Yamaha recommended way, stay under 6500 rpm for first 600 miles . Then stay under 7500 rpm for up to 1000 miles ...
I was kinda bummed that I have to wait to commute with it ... have to ride it around my town for 600 miles ..because 6500 rpm in 6th hear is 61 mph and there's no way to go that slow on the freeway near me ...I'm going to break it in right and stick to it ...

yes, I have a 2018 R3 (same engine as this one) and I agree with the false neutral... it is very infrequent that it does it, but it is susceptible to it, when one does not push the gear lever fully to the limit...
the question of puncturing the two correct cables, to start it without a key... to have the same accessible ones... left me cold.
and the issue of rearview mirrors, as is, are very bad design. for the little width of vision, and also be flat mirrors.

I have a 600 and this thing. I take this bike out wayyyyy more then the 600 and here's why.. I like to shift, I will go through 3 gears well the 600 would still be in first. Other reason I pick this over my 600 is because it's funner to go fast on a slower bike then it is to go slow on a fast bike. And it's just all around a super fun bike to slam into corners

First gear is super short in the r3! It’s almost useless lol. A 2020 ninja 400 the gearing is flawless. Other than that the bike is a good time to ride! You can push it all out without having to worry that you’ll hit 160 in a blink lol. It handles excellent and the brakes are pretty good as well.

Much more power to learn on and not get bored, but it's not scary fast either, and it looks better IMO, but that's just an opinion. Hey, atleast your riding though and that's what counts :)

Did you know the R3 performs just as well as your Ninja 650 up to the speed limit?
Riding beyond that is illegal. So the extra power is a non-issue for me. I'm fine with a 5 second 0 to 60 (same as an M5). I don't need to accelerate to 60 mph at light speed just to immediately slow down. I'm not a straight line guy anyway. I much prefer the twisties and on the R3 it's so light and maneuverable it's just a blast. I prefer the gas mileage and the low upkeep cost, and low initial price too.

    I’m on a 2015 R3. Purchased in early 2017 brand new.
    1. False neutrals happen to me too. Not all the time, but they happen. I have more trouble at stops. If I’m at a stoplight and go into neutral, if I roll back even slightly, I can’t get back into 1st without rolling forward first. Kind of annoying.
    2. I mount Ram Mount balls in the mirror holes on each side. Left side is my radar detector, right side is my phone. Solid as a rock.
    3. If anyone wants to steal a bike, it’s gonna happen. Have good insurance and you’re good.
    3. Hoons gonna hoon. I recently did a trip to North Carolina to ride the Dragon and surrounding roads. I’m from St. Louis. Over 500 miles one way. People thought I was crazy, but I quickly earned their respect. If people are hating, there’s no reason to give them any time of day.
    5. Yeah, the mirrors aren’t the greatest, but that’s nitpicking.

That "false neutral" thing I get every other day when riding, its only ever when clicking up from 1st to 2nd and I DO blame the bike (I have test ridden a Yamaha R6, Yamaha MT07, Yamaha Tracer 700 and a Kawasaki Versys-X 300) they ALL had WAY better clicky responsive gearshift levers. 1. False neutrals: I've heard complaints on this bike and the MT-03 (basically the same bike). Though I've seen many attribute it to wearing shoes that are too soft on top. Maybe try a stiffer riding shoe. Revzilla has a lot of reasonable priced shoes/boots with a stiffer toe.
    2. Re: the size of the bike. Don't sweat it. Everyone whose ever been to a track day has seen relative noobs on a 600 SS bike get their asses kicked by a 390 Duke.

Maybe you should look at adjusting your gear shifter height. Also if you remove you the little black covers near your clutch lever or master cylinder you can screw a ram ball head straight into the bike.
