Holy cow! We got the update yesterday and went somewhere today using the navigation and what we expected was the regular autopilot. We hadn't read the release notes or seen any emails about full self-driving, so when the car started driving us to our destination, switching lanes on the freeway to get into faster lanes, and things like that, we were shocked! "Did you just make that lane change?" "No, I didn't make that lane change!" "Yikes!" It's pretty cool though, although it seems that we need to pay extra attention, more than we would with the regular autopilot, because we don't know what it will do. And what it won't do.😮
I got my 2024 model Y with the self driving and can't stop using it since 8 days ago. I used it from one city to a winery an hour away. It took us through windy county roads that I have driven many times. It was great! It even self parked in the winery.
Got it yesterday noon (Saturday) for my 2023 Y/LR. First time using FSD. First day impression: It's not ready for north of Manhattan suburb drivers and hilly long straight roads to a sharp turn past the crest. Many stop signs are a few feet before the white line, and per DMV it fully stops at the sign then very slowly goes forward and then it shoot ahead. Almost re-ended a couple times. VERY aggressive stops and then accelerations (even with chill selected), like a lead foot. It lIkes to hug right, and side roads here have many holes/bumps along the right or storm grates. Interestingly it did much better at short hilly straights and sharp curves going uphill. On highway in middle lane, 4 cars in right lane close together coming up on exit we were to take. I would have moved behind them, but they slowed a bit and the car sped up to pass them. Of course they all sped up and I had to take over to slow down and get behind them for the exit. Today took it out on a different route-it did much better. Was surprised coming up to a red light with a right arrow at about 45 mph it smoothly just kept going and made the right (no cars on the left stopped). Perhaps some of the lead foot acceleration was because I had selected the option to let it decide how fast to drive and it consistently did about 7mph over, which is not good when going straight for while and you can't see the sharp turn up ahead. I had it set to medium aggression also, and it was pretty hesitant making rights on red when I would have gone. So I'll see how it does with NOT letting it decide the speed, and maybe aggressive option (which will probably scare the pants off me). If it accelerates like that again after a stop I'll have to change the tires a LOT! PS...I REALLY liked changing lanes on the highway by putting on the turn signal. So the jury is still out. (Sorry for the long post.)
Got it on Sunday. Had no idea what had changed except the screen with the driving animations. Then driving home from work tonight I did my usual Autopilot on long stretch I have to drive. OMG! That was fricking crazy! Next time I will use Navigate and see what happens. I don’t trust it at all (I’m GenX) so I will be vigilant and conservative until I feel comfortable. Nothing anywhere said it was a “trial” tho. And no email from Tesla. Oh…and I can Summon!!
First time using FSD. Got it Friday and it’s great in most instances, but several times I’ve had to take over. It doesn’t handle amber lights very well, it always seems to stop even if you are very close to the intersection, and it would have been far safer to go through the amber light in some instances. Overall very good but you really have to pay attention.
I got mine. I have to take more attention with FSD than If I driving my self. A couple scary moments too. Lane changes and on a red light with sing “don’t turn on red” it tried do a continuous right turn. Are we all Guinea pigs!?
Haven’t got the update yet! 2021 model 3! I’ve tried resetting the car, looked for email and nada! Hoping to get it since I’m considering FSD and this would definitely be worth it without having to invest any $
@@rcfreak9 I heard 2024.8 which I imagine you might have since I have gotten nothing yet either. Apparently 2024.8 will get the update at any point today thru the end of this week.
I tried it on a very long trip. It worked fine in the beginning, but then it started missing speed limits and did some very strange left lane changes. It does not identify trash in the road. Luckily my first one was a carpet, after this one I had to quickly take over.🤨
@@FDchief904 Nope. Looks like Tesla’s definition of everyone is different than the dictionary. It seems they picked the version with the least amount of people and offered it to them. Funny how all the RUclipsrs knew not to apply the three updates after. Plus, kind of crappy Tesla would send several updates, knowing they would use an older version for free fsd. Poor communication if they do plan to roll out to others later. This is part why they are failing. Tesla is like being in a bad relationship, you give it all, but they only give some and don’t communicate. Don’t tolerate it in my personal relationships and won’t tolerate here. No more Teslas for me. Stick with my Toyota. 20 years, 300+k miles and still going strong. It doesn’t jerk me around.
Hi sir great video I have it on my car but it’s say 99 percent do I need to drive it so I can press that beta full self driving free for one month ? Thanks
We got it last friday night. Without the trial we have stansard autopilot. I can say it does a few things much nicer than autopilot. FSD seems ideal when driving on the same road for some distance. When it gets involved with turning at intersections, im not a fan. I've watched a few videos of people driving with it and it seemed more impressive.
Tesla Employees driving company cars are typically 2 to 3 versions ahead of customers. I would imagine some of them are making videos that make FSD look extra good.
Man I was kinda worried about it to begin with, I didn’t know they were doing a free month and thought I was getting charged for it but this is pretty cool. I tried it once for about 10 seconds and turned it off because I was scared
I just got the update installed this morning. So this is a trial 30 day test of this FSD supervised software. What happens after the 30 days, it just gets disabled??? No way I am going to pay for this feature being it costs around 12,000 dollars. I can't afford it. Going to other videos and see if anybody knows anymore about this update.
It just disappears and gives you a message on the screen telling you. I have one Tesla this happened. My other is still going for a few months with credits. They have a $99/mo plan also. Thanks for watching.
@@TeslaTipsTrips Question. I did a small test of FSD supervised and worked fine till I got to my destination (home) but the car did not completely stop - it just kept going very slow. Should the car stop itself?? Or do I have to do "End Trip" or hit the brake?? Thanks for any info on how you end trips. Take care.
Wish it would count to five before going on green. Reason;red light runners. Does not arbitrate well when turn lanes open from one lane to two. Confused. Other drivers behind me can't figure out where it will go. Even in chill mode, take off too abrupt especially turning from a stop light. In navigate didn't anticipate proper lane in heavy traffic. Had to take over. Nearby city lane has no center lane marking. Tesla drove near middle of the road that had oncoming traffic. Lots of potholes here. Of course the car found most to drive through. First impression; More effort being on guard around town than me driving. Will try freeway later.
It takes into account red light runners, it has cameras everywhere. you want to be the car on autopilot that holds up a green light for an entire 5 seconds? thats ridiculous
Maybe you or someone here has some inside information on the software rollout?.. It seems there are currently 2 branches of software, 24.8.7 (36% of users) and 24.3.10 (19% of users). The latter, 24.3.10 has the FSD. Those of us with 24.8.7 do not have FSD. My understanding is the software rolls out sequentially and doesn't go backward. I'm speculating that this means 24.8.7 wont get FSD Trial. Only if the software branch re-merged at some point would 24.8.7 get FSD. I hope I am wrong, this is only based on assumptions as Tesla doesn't seem to give ANY information about the software releases.

For sure. More human thinking involved when the tech is driving. Someone compared it to a teenager driving🤣
I just got the notification today and just started the download for 2024.3.10 so I guess I’ll be testing it when I wake up 😂
Nice!

I agree!🤪
And I have been aggressively sending in notes about why I keep dropping it out of FSD!
Look, it's May 4th 2024.
I waited all through April and never got my free FSD. What gives?
I asked the Service Center and nobody knows anything.

I’ve got a friend with a 23 model 3, also hasn’t gotten it. Guess it’s still rolling out.
Same car here. No FSD trial yet.
haven't got it either. M3 2019.
Frustrating.

It doesn’t identify small speed bumps and potholes too.
Still no update for me and others with 2023 m3.

I didn't get it. My model 3 was purchased in March 2019. I have the 2.5 AutoPilot computer. Is this why?
Could be. My 2019 from May has 3.0

It doesn’t respond quickly at stop sign and ended up leaving at the same time when other driver at opposite stop sign started leaving.
Still waiting for that update. 2023 Model S.

2022 model Y performance have advanced updates on and I still haven’t got it. It says car software up-to-date as of April 9th.
Same I was wondering when we are getting it
I got it today. First time using it. Very interesting technology
I can't activate the fsd, what's I do wrong
yup got it yesterday! woot woot
I did not get mine -2021 model 3 P

No, I did not. but I went ahead with the subscription for only 100 bucks a month It wasn’t that bad.
I didn't get it .... why??
I feel so. Elonbetrayed
K kk...please ask biden!!
I didn’t get the fsd either
I would like to postpone getting free FSD until the month of June. Do you think that will work out for me if I don’t update until late May?
My email gave me the expiration date, so I don’t think you can delay.
my tesla won’t update do
you know how to make it update, I have a 2023 model 3
My friend is in the same boat. It’s all up to Tesla unfortunately.
I just got update notifications. Does your one month start when you completed the update? Or just month of April.
You'll get an email and at the bottom of the email it says when it expires. Thanks for watching
I really hope they don’t mean just for April. I still don’t have mine.
Same, April is almost over and I still haven’t gotten mine either
I updated yesterday but still no FSD yet? Is it only for those ppl who never had FSD trial before?
Same here. 2021 tesla model 3. Stuck 2024.8 , apparently we will be getting it anytime today (Wednesday 4/3 thru the end of this week.
Update is for every tesla whether you have tried the update or not.
Awesome car❤
Are we able to summon our tesla ? I dont see it on my app
You will soon
You need to turn it on, both our cars have it, but they both have USS
I got the update but didn't get an email. And it doesn't show full self driving as an option in that screen. I guess I have to wait for an email?
Strange. Did the left side of your main screen become more detailed?
