    As a ride share driver, it is my recommendation that you NEVER do riders favors when they ask. I get asked all the time to squeeze in an extra person or stop at a drive through, etc.
    In my experience, even if the person promises a huge tip for the favor, 4/5 times they will leave no tip at all.
    Here's some great advice.. People suck. Perform the job as requested and nothing more and if they don't like it, they can eat shit.

      I picked up three people from the mall on UberX share I'm not sure what happened because it should have been one person I think I don't know I never did it before but the app said I had three more seats to fill so I turned off rides until I drop them off

      I often get older teenagers from a church school and there is always more than 3 or 4 my car can hold 4 comfortably these are 16 or older should I be taking them

      @@SusanBullockUberGrams well Susan that's the great thing about being a rideshare driver. You are an independent contractor. You have the power to refuse business to anybody for any reason or no reason at all. If it isn't worth it to you... Then don't do it. I cancel more rides than I actually perform. If I get a ride request from "O.G. Trina", I will cancel the ride as soon as I see that they are requesting the ride under a name that obviously isn't their given name.
      The car I do rideshare in has white leather interior so I cancel ride requests when they come from a factory. I've canceled a ride when the rider came walking up with a dog. Was it a service dog? I don't know and I don't care. I will refuse business to anybody I want because nobody is going to reimburse me if the interior of my car gets damaged by a dirty rider or a riders pet. It is what it is.

    Horrible passengers are the reason I do Doordash and Uber Eats instead of Lyft and Uber. My cargo doesn't talk back to me and it's pretty much the same money.

      Get a taxi permit. Pax are complete opposite of rideshare pax and 96% tip at least $5. They are do chill and no ratings! Driver IS KING!

    Drive-throughs are an immediate no-go. Someone asked me and I immediately told them, it’s busy… I need to work and your ride isnt for food pickup.

    Little over 5000 rides here. You need to establish who is boss from the get go. You are the captain of the ship and you need to have enough respect for yourself to think of yourself in this way. Once you set the tone off the bat, you are less likely to be abused in any type of way.

    I once had a passenger who unbeknownst to me cancelled a ride while in my back seat (once I picked him up) so that the ride wasn’t charged. He tried to convince me that my map wasn’t working due to bad internet in the area so he would direct me to his house. I was new to Uber at the time so i believed him. Once I dropped him off I pulled over and called Uber support and they advised unless I provided proof that I dropped him off I wouldn’t be paid. I dropped by the security booth and they gave me a visitor’s pass for the tenant and I sent that to UBER and the rider was charged for the ride. I’ve witnessed all of the things you mentioned and thanks for sharing. I might consider going back after hearing this.

    In CA we have almost 100% of passangers who do not tell the driver their name before entering the car--i always ask the passanger their name.

    I often get these "extra stops" I tell them they need to put it in the app some are OK with that, but then there's others that say I can't or it won't let me or I don't know how uuuggg

      I had a woman that kept sending me rude texts I had to drop a person off before I come to get her and she kept saying demands. So I drove to where she was at she was sitting at a picnic table smoking. She actually put her fingers up and wave me to drive over to her. So I waited I drove over I waited for her to get up and walk to the car toward the car. Then I took off and canceled the ride. It's called respect she had no respect so I had to show her the same thing she showed me.

    Passengers assuming you got lost because your finishing up a ride with a previous Passenger. Passengers thinking your a luggage attendant. Passengers thinking they can drink alcohol and have a meal in your vehicle.

    As soon as they demand something I cancel the ride because I don't want a one star because someone's in a bad mood or thinks the world revolves around them I learned that the hard way

    I had a couple just start making out in the backseat on a 60 mile trip. Also a guy just lit up a smoke. I have learned that if you do not give them a 1 rating, they are going to do it to you. Beware of the cheap person that wants to be picked up at the airport in a different location. Also the rides someone else ordered for them.

    What I have learned to do is to use the moments when the passenger or passengers approach the vehicle.
    If you sense craziness or any negative impression, drive away and cancel.
    I had my WORST 20 min ride with four people, who spoke about perverted sex the whole trip. I had my bose noise cancelling headphones on with music so I escaped 95% of the filth.

      I had to endure one of those this Summer, and despite my silence, they demanded that I involve myself in the debauchery. I politely informed them that I was monogamist, happily married, and avoided the swinger scene because of matters of faith. I am not trying to be rude, but it is a rough haul picking up four drunk people who insist on detailing the orgy they just left. My worst trip was transporting a young woman 🦖 who was in the throes of a drug overdose. 🥺 It took three people to subdue a crazed woman who was growling, screaming, cursing, and snapping like a wild animal! 🙏

      Are getting my car with a open plate of pasta with sauce and garlic mashed potatoes and a fork. Explain to the passenger there was no eating in my car. She open the door and flung the food off the plate of course the garlic mashed potatoes stuck to the plate. I am allergic to garlic. So I asked her to leave my car. She called Lyft and said I threatened her with a weapon and I got deactivated for a week or so. No open plates of pasta with sauce in my car.

    Some ppl request a ride at the grocery store and you spend time loading all the groceries and for a 2 miles ride is only 2.82 bucks 😣

      I usually get chips from grocery stores I have braces on my hands I have rheumatoid arthritis I get out of my car I open the hatch and I help those people put the food in their car. And then when I drop them off I get out of my car and I help them carry that food to the door.

    Thoughts on asking riders for I.D. Had a big guy named "Piper" (wtf) about 6ft and 270 pounds who turned out to be totally crazy. He asked every personal question at rapid fire. The questions were coming so fast, I got disoriented on the gps. To no avail, I tried to take the conversation to safer topics like "ubering is a great gig" and "more women should uber."
    After his first stop, he came back to car, told me that he had 2 minutes left so he wanted to smoke. He then told me I shouldn't be ubering if I dont want food, drinks, and smokes in my car. When I explained that I own the car as a contractor, he went off into some rant during which "nigga" slipped out in referenceto me. I then advised that I am ending the conversation...He kept going with name calling me butch, whore, etc. So I pulled over to end ride. He stated that he wouldn't get out and I would have to call cops. I stopped and got out at which point he jumped out probably because he was uncertain about what I was about to do and didnt expect me to get out. I walk around and closed my door. He was still screaming at me when I left.
    OMG, I called Uber to have him removed from my pool and to file a report to protect other drivers
    He then filed a false report three hours later which is obvious retaliation. So I think the best thing to do is to fake car trouble 🤣🤣🤣🤣 and abandon your car.
    Mind you I have take over 600 rides this summer with 306 reviews of which 291 are 5 starts. And I'mPro Diamond, yet it's been 4 days blocked and under investigation.
    To do list
    Get a dash cam
    Control the conversation better
    Ask for ID when rider is obviously lying about name
    End ride at a store or restaurant where you can abandon car with witnesses and cameras. Keep dash cam running for property damage.
    Have a list of safe convo topics for each day.

      Wow sorry to hear that you went through all of that!!! As soon as he started acting stupid I would have ended the ride and told him to get the f*** out of my car. And then I would have called 911. Even though Uber does absolutely nothing about these riders. Always make a report. Cover your butt first. They do nothing at all. they don't follow up on any of our reports, even though they say they are. That's a bunch of bill. Uber does nothing because they don't want to lose the rider because they're income. But I still make a report on every incident that I've had.. I think you waited too long to end your ride with him and he got comfortable. It's a whole lot of nutcases out there. And we as women just have to be careful as h***.

    Don't cancel. Call or text them and have them cancel. I always do this. If they won't (rare), I turn off location and take a break

Today I had a lady text me how to get to her address than when 8 went there she was demanding how to get there than when I was on phone t9 ask her where she is she was telling me with attitude im late im late. I canceled not interested its always the ones going to medical appointments

      You're a smart person. If I get a bad vibe from the beginning of the ride or even before I even reach your pick up. I will immediately cancel the ride. I've had people call me on the phone before I reached them with attitudes or stupid questions and I immediately cancel the rides. My biggest pet peeve is when people call me and worry me where are you, and so-and-so is giving me instructions. don't give me instructions. I don't need your help. if I need it, I'll ask for it. But you gotta cut it off before it starts. You are the Boss of your car and time. always trust your intuition.

    Forgot the pax that have small children and no carseat. It is up to the pax to provide their own carseats. It chaps my hide when I turn down a ride at the airport due to no carseats, and I see another driver 5 minutes later picking that pax up w/o carseats. You drivers who don't follow the rules make it very difficult for those of us who do!

    On my second week with Lyft my rideshare car promoted to extra comfort and I accepted $48 ride. I was happy and when I get to this lady, the first thing she said turn off the radio I was like yes ma’am plus she was going to the another states I went to the gas station to fill up my tank and after I bought her big bottle of Smartwater and bought one myself want to and driving, she was the way she was doing back there. I was even scared to look at her. She accepted the water. and when two hours away from my house and draw back two hours $48 for 4 hours total 😅😂

      Never do a longer trip even it crosses three states border line like from northern Virginia to Pennsylvania close to New Jersey line. Uber only pay driver $180 but it need spend three hours and 210 miles. If you don't match it yet, just turn on the rider app and put the same drop off location to check how much if you order this trip. It showed up around $320 for it but driver only take $180. This is a greedy percentage of the fare taken off by Uber. NEVER ACCEPT THE LONGER TRIP UNLESS IT CAN PAY DOUBLE DOLLARS PER MILE TO COVER YOUR BACK TRIP.

    The Scary thing is that I unfortunately have been through Everything you discussed. And a couple you didn't mention. lol.. One Very Important Thing, If any of these situations occur, Always Contact Uber or Lyft and make a REPORT. Always cover your A$$ and try to have a Dash Cam.

    I drop them off anyway, then drive away without ending the ride. I drive a mile away to a safe area, then cancel the ride, choosing rider behavior as the reason. That way they made it to point B from point A, but will not be able to rate me. I sacrifice that ride for my account which is more important than a report, or bad rating.

    I had a young man getting my car and demand I turned the heater on it was 75°. I told him it would make the car too warm. So he says fine you get a one star. I said okay we're canceling the ride you can get out of the car. He refused then he started throwing racial slurs at me so I got out of my car waited for them to get out and then I drove away.

    Brother- I have had to deal with every one of your examples, and it is no easy task biting the lip and trucking on. In my experience, if you don't comply with 100% of the unreasonable demands it ends up being a One-star trip. The best thing is never letting bad riders in, but sadly, we often figure out who's bad after they are inside your car. If I am unable to de-escalate and make friends, I cancel before everything goes South. Some people are angry and looking for a 'little' person to vent on, regardless of ride quality. Being a night driver, I could write book about all the crazy rides I have been through. Karens are the worst and I have low tolerance for horrible people. Thankfully, the Wu-floo hysteria has calmed down- at least here in East Tennessee. Stay safe, enjoy the ride, and thanks for all that you do!

    I am an uber / lift driver for almost 2 years over 6000 rides 4.98 rating,
    Every time a passenger start demanding l tell them l can't do that and if they insist l stop the ride right away because no matter what they would give you a bad rating, no games on me , my vehicle my rules

    Never ever believe a passenger that they will tip you in the app! They can ask you nicely and professionally and you can see they have a good attitude then it’s up to you at that point or they can add the stop in the app so you can get a tiny bit more extra pay. If they demand it or drunk hungry then it’s a hard NO! Also don’t let a girl try to sway you into doing things for her I.e. drive thru / picking up somebody else don’t fall for their tricks they know what they’re doing……..but it’s upto you just be careful and professional around girls it will go south real fast and they will not give a sh!t about you and lie and cry to get their way and get away with it.

    I got attacked by a female when i would not do the drive thru. I offered and parked and offered for them to go inside. She attacked me in the parking lot. Its on camera. Coos came. Lyft refused to give me the name of the passenger. Or give the information to the police. We have the attack on video. But nothing was done. I have scars on my legs from it. Lyft isn't very safe.

    With new Covid seating changes people persist in trying to get more than 3 people in my UberX. Usually saying: "Our last driver let someone sit up front. Our last driver let all 5 of us squeeze into the back seat." I still refuse, and now I have to cancel and take the hit. And what is worse is that there ARE drivers allowing rule breakers to ride! I have prevented people from jumping into my front seat by using a huge stuffed animal to occupy the front passenger seat. Even still a few people tried to just jump in on top if the stuffy! I say shame on the drivers that allow riders to skirt the rules. I will not risk passenger safety, TOS, my license, or my life to squeeze in extra people!

      I had that yesterday for people wanting to get into my Honda Fit I'm alright taking three in the back even though there's only two seat belts but my rule is nobody rides in the front they were like well we'll squeeze all four in the back and I'm like no I don't think so I think you're going to have to get Comfort or XL cheap asses trying to save a dollar it was for bigger girls to hundred Pounders each going to a Brooks and Dunn concert but I explained it to them in a nice way and they did cancel it so I didn't have to take the hit

    Spot on all examples, I think maybe being a little more creative if you have pull over and get them out and soften it up with a low tire or chest pains something like that, whatever works. It's a guaranteed confrontation just kicking them out.

      I did this two years ago with a rider just bought a disgusting pet dog without shower a few days. Even I rolled down all windows on freeway I can't breathe at all 😂 eventually this dog made mess on my back seat😢

    When people ask me to roll my windows up rude i tell them thr people before them where sick and caughing so bad thats why I had the windows down, and usually they put mask on and ask to keep windows down.

      I keep a mask in my car at all times still to this day. If someone smells bad but put the mask on tell them I'm allergic to cologne and I open the sunroof for their ride

    How is this for an annoying backseat driver? Or as I call it the backseat GPS. I actually had some that would give me directions that are no different at all from the directions to GPS is already giving me. It would interrupt my music to tell me which way to go and the passenger would have the nerve to come behind it and tell me the same thing

      I have no problem with directions cuz sometimes people know a better way to get somewhere Uber tends to take you down the most crowded streets they can find to get from point a to point b a lot of times the customer knows the shortcut to avoid that

      @@AtMary.b ok that level of giving directions is actually fine and definitely appreciated. I don't even consider that to be backseat driving. I'm more aimed at the ones that sit back there and give me turn by turn directions from start to finish and the directions they give me are no different at all from what the GPS is already giving me. It's just not necessary to do that.

      If the pickup or drop off is to or from a high school, this might be an indication. You can always ask for ID.

    I am getting many rider that are not at the pickup location. When I explain to meet me at the area they requested they typically provide directions to where they are located that they originally did not request! Drives me nuts!

      A lot of passengers move and then they have you drop them off a little bit earlier and then you don't get paid the full amount I think it's a scam

    I had one who was pissed because I couldnt dim the sun! I love driving taxi! Pax are sooo sweet n $5-$20 tip is standard. They are grateful that yiu picked them up. Rideshare pax make me thankful for taxi pax LOL

    I've had serious scam rides also, it's always on the way to pick up the so call rider, a call will come in saying it's my rider and then when answered they'd say they're Uber support and it was reported that I wasn't the listed driver😅 then they'd tell me to find somewhere to safely pull over (of course before the destination) to be able to quickly clear this all up.
    The very 1st time it happened I thought it was real and gave them all my info 😢 yes stupid, the next time I let it go just long enough then said im not going to be stupid again I know this is a scam and then hang up on them. They then canceled, and I got the fee 😅 and I did report them both times

    Worst rides..the circle back after a stop, to original pickup location..usually illegal sales shenanigans..what to do if they drop rx in your vehicle on accident. I was so naive!

    The worst riders are most X riders. Never accept extra stops, you won’t get paid for it without a fight with support. Judge people before they get in your car, once they’re in, suck it up, it reduces your chances of getting kicked out from the app

    I had a guy who shouted there’s a car there’s a car coming. I didn’t see a car coming, but I stopped because he was agitated and no car came. I told him I thought him yelling out was dangerous and it put us both in jeopardy. He said well you’re not doing this while I’m in the car, but there was no threat. I felt his behavior was an erratic and he also threatened me, so I thought I don’t know what to do so I reported it to Uber but he definitely reported me and said that I had done something to put him in danger when there was no danger so what exactly is a person supposed to do about that?

    Usually my roles i put my confort and my safety first if i smell trouble i dont take the ride or kick em whatever happend later its ok even i can get deactivated ,and i dont take stops trips i had alot of issues when i was new driver and made me streestfull alot but now i learn alot

    I like listening to these videos as a passenger to gain insight on being a courteous rider. As a rider, want the driver to please say their name as well, it makes me feel safer as well.
    Also I like the drivers who keep a clean car but don’t use air fresheners.. I have respiratory issues and have been tempted to stop the ride and get out for that reason. I never noticed tipped except for once when the car smelled like there was clouds of vape smoke and the driver seemed high.

    I always enter the correct destination, but I have had drivers who are not familiar with the area, not know where to drop me off. Sometimes it’s very popular destinations, such as the main entrance to a major tourist destination. Drivers will often pull that card, that I entered the destination wrong. If you’re the driver, you are responsible in getting me to the destination.

    1)The type that tells me to lane jump, ooh! Turn here! go faster… zig n zag… go around that car, … can’t stand it.
    I warn them once, if they argue with me, or do it again, I just pull over at the nearest safe area and tell them to call another driver.
    2)Anything odiferous in my car, food -no. Alcohol smell, cigs, weed …no. No. No. No.
    However I do have hand wipes. If I notice odor once I’ve already picked them up… or if I pull up and they’re putting out their cig, same ~ hand wipes, and please take a few regular breaths b4 you get in. Then offer a mint.
    I was deactivated twice in my early days of ridesharing. One said my car smelled like alcohol and driver must be drunk… lost a days earnings. Same thing with weed couple weeks later.
    I can’t stand the smell of food in my car.
    I really think my hand wipes n mints help with everything else.
    No food whatsoever. Not even bagged. Nope.

    I've had more strife and friction with passangers not wearing masks. So I carry a box of masks with me and remind the passanger to use one always when using a rideshare service. I also get some complainers about the windows being open due to covid-i just tell them that I don't want to get sick, and I don't want my passangers to get sick.

      I blame the assholes among our fellow drivers who aren't enforcing the rules.
      I also get sick of the people who order Uber X, but have 4+ people. (5+ before covid restrictions)
      The excuse I usually get is "None of the other drivers..." (Also get this with small children without a child restraint device and minors traveling alone.)

    (Actually )come on it is not going to be just some problems if they complain you will be temporarily deactivated until they do a investigation which could last week 2 weeks 3 weeks depending on how many drivers there are in the area and how much they need you.

    If they want to add a drive through- say no - if they didn’t put it in the ride request then a driver is under no obligation. You get the ride you asked for.

      Some of these passengers think we're really stupid drivers. They kill me with that. I'll tip you. Of course they never ever do. People will say anything to get what they want. I had to turn this young girl down with a baby and no car seat and she said the same crap to me. But I still put her out of my car and canceled the ride. I'm not pressed for a $5 tip to get my license taken from me or get in any kind of trouble if I have an accident and you never know. So you can't say all that's not gonna happen to you, cause you just don't know But I did cancel her ride and she sat on the side of the curb looking all pitiful and I kept on going. I have no cut cards and I don't have no time to be sympathetic cuz you know the rules.

    The “entitled” passenger might also be asking for a reasonable request, such as turning off very loud music that has cursing. I usually don’t say anything when I get a driver like that, however.

    Avoid passengers from the hood, college kids, and low rating passengers…. These people are the most entitled and gives 0 tips. The best customers are the old aged people anyone 30s and above.

    If they want a drive through stop, ask them to put that stop in their app. This will also add it to your route and take care of the customer. Another passenger in queue just means they'll have to wait. If you have no food in your car sign, then why are you delivering for Uber Eats?

      Having a no food or drink sign is for Pax. Because Pax don't care if they spill their drink or smear greasy food in your car. When I do food delivery, the food is bagged, sealed, in insulated containers and rides in the cargo area!
