    Love those movie bumpers!! They bring back cozy memories of my 1970s childhood and my teen years, and my 1980s twenties. Certain evenings had a movie on tv, during the 1970s and part of the 1980s, and those bumpers would start them off. Also, the art graphics were so cool. I often watch these on you tube.

    The first film with the ABC star tunnel (at least that I saw, anyway) was "Jacqueline Bovier Kennedy", with Jaclyn Smith in 1981.

    CBS was the last of the three to make Sunday a movie night. They did so mid-way through the 1985, replacing freshman Crazy Like A Fox and the aging Trapper John MD which were burned off elesewhere on the schedule.

    You could hear both Don LaFontaine and Danny Dark, here- if there was a 3rd voice, namely for ABC's movie intro, it likely would've been Joel Crager!!!

    One thing I'd like to know about this-- when it came to ABC's Star Tunnel movie titles, why was the Sunday version the benchmark for that sequence (meaning the one that is the most remembered of all the versions of that ABC movie sequence then)?

    • @mrawesome3915
      @mrawesome3915 2 года назад +1

      Because that was a constant movie night for ABC. Monday Night Movie would take breaks for Baseball and Football. Fridays and Thursdays would be movie nights during particular seasons as both were trouble spots on the sked during this time.

      @@mrawesome3915 And the Sunday one is the only one to wait until the marquee was fully formed before having the title to flash; all others had it flashing a split second before the marquee was fully formed.

    Thanks for posting these. What I am really looking for is bumpers that announce the upcoming movie, & commercial leads ins "We now return to.....". Those are hard to find, & finding both for the same movie is nearly impossible. (I've found only 1) I live to take them & splice them together with the actual movie, then splice in some commercials & perhaps a short news break. The result is like watching TV on a Friday-Sunday night back ion the late 1970's-early 80's. Very nostalgic. I made one that was several hours long. It has a dozen commercials, a news break, 2 sitcom episodes, & a Movie of the Week. Do you have any bumpers that announce the movie, or any "We now return to...." clips?

    Does anyone remember a network tv movie bumper which had digital imagery with a view from inside a car winding on a single lane track for a bit, then going through an illuminated tunnel? I can't remember specifically what intro bumper it was for other than it was definitely around '83-'86.
    The first 23 seconds of this video have most of the footage I'm referencing, but cuts off before the car goes all the way through the tunnel and drives for a bit on the other side. Anyone remember this intro?

    As much as I like the bumpers, they are a bit dramatic for chopped up older movies. It’s like “I can’t bear the excitement!”
