Heavenly pacts are not something you take voulutary, you are born with a heavenly pact.
yes..that's where the name comes from..it's like saying "We have no choice in it...only heaven knows what we get"
although i think they figured it was something you were born with in the discussion..although they think someone else(like a parent) made that choice.
it's actually like being born with defects. noone decides it.
I wonder how they find out they have one
@@josebeteta8283 how do u find out you have a defect after birth or some mutation? the same way
@@itzmehDevi it feels it would be different to know cursed energy differences because you can’t “see” them the same way that you would a physical difference.
@@josebeteta8283 I mean Mechamaru can easily see it..
as for Maki, she can't see curses...so everyone gave up on her..but Mai realized that her sister had physical stat boost
Heavenly Pacts and Restrictions are born. Pacts as a whole are consented to promises you MUST keep, and they are enforced in some way, usually killing the one that breaks it. But Heavenly Pacts are different in that you just are forced into it from the day you are born. Maki has NEVER been able to see curses or use cursed energy and never will. Mechamaru has ALWAYS had a body as fragile as it is and there is no way to fix it that sorcerers are capable of.
But Heavenly Pacts are given a "blessing" because it has to be a transaction of a sort. So Maki has been given a peak human physicality and the strength and speed to even catch bullets from super close range, while on the opposite end, Mechamaru has the giant pool of cursed energy to be able to use these giant techniques even from a long distance away with a puppet body.
Small correction: Mechamaru has enhanced cursed energy production and enhanced cursed energy control range, two effects. If he uses cursed energy he'd recover it abnormally fast, he also figured out how to store it externally using his technique
This episode completely flipped my view of Mai. Instead of a mean and petty girl, I realized she is a deeply hurt sister that misdirected her own anger and abuse against the person she shouldn't have. And I completely understand where both Mai and Maki are coming from; Maki couldn't stand the abuse she went through and left, and Mai was treated even worse after Maki left and her opinion of Maki soured as a result. Of course, we know that anger should have been aimed solely at the clan, but a person as deeply abused and mistreated as Mai wouldn't recognize that. The whole thing is just heartbreaking.
I think you're putting more though in this that Gege XD
Totally. Like, Maki had two choices, either sacrifice her own dreams or leave her sister behind. Obviously, it’s entirely clan’s fault for forcing her to make the decision, but I can absolutely see why Mai has so much resentment. Even if you know that the clan’s at fault, it would be so hard to look at your sister without thinking “If you hadn’t made that choice, I know my life would have been so much better”
just read the manga to see what happens to both of them bro
@@mray4784I don't think so. Authors often think more about this stuff than people imagine
@@TechnoArpan And often they don't (Akira Toriyama).
Heavenly Pacts are forced upon the owner. They're not something you choose.
Maki has no energy and cannot naturally see spirits but can catch bullets mid air.
Mechamaru has a crippled and pained body but can cast spells from miles away which is normally impossible.
No right now Maki does still have cursed energy, but less than a normal person, let alone a sorcerer
Hearing them say they want to see someone with a heavenly pact that was purely in the sorcerer's benefit made me so hyped for them to meet Toji
mechamaru - superb amount of cursed energy, zero physical energy
maki - superb amount of physical prowess, zero cursed energy
Only Toji has ZERO cursed energy. Maki only has a little bit.
"i have a feeling you're a fan"
Yeah I'm not sure about that 💀
That’s an entirely reasonable reaction for this point in the anime.
XD
She’d be so cool if she didn’t tickle ui ui’s ui-ui. 😔
@@greatstorm3805💀
@@greatstorm3805 that's foul, but true
Pacts and heavenly pacts are two different things 😊. Pacts are voluntary agreements, heavenly pacts are imposed from birth
Slight correction in that. Pacts are voluntary but they aren't called pacts when it comes to what maki has. She has a heavenly restriction, meaning that since birth she can't see cursed spirits at all but in exchange she has superhuman strength. It restricts her cursed energy hence the name
Heavenly Pacts are not chosen, they are IMPOSED upon you. Maki was BORN with this pact that nerfs her cursed energy so hard she can't even see curses, but she has a superhuman physique in return.
Just, remember that.
Guys.. they're on S2 now... they know what a heavenly pact is.
Doesn't matter. The them from this moment in time deserve it. 😂
Joking aside, I never understood why so many fuckin' people fail to understand the heavenly pacts when it was literally explained plain as day last episode. I genuinely get second hand embarrassment every time.
26:54 There is a character like that in Season 2, and I have a feeling you will love them. 😊

Destroy everything
Well
That mightve told me too much
(At 19:45) maybe this might make more sense, considering their twins:
"What 'one' lacks, the 'other' makes up for"
Season 2 about to go crazy
Don’t think they’ll like Mei Mei in season 2
Maki and Mai were born with something called "heavenly pact"
Basically, It is a very rare condition where a sorcerer is born with superhuman abilities in a certain area, at the cost of losing something important in the process
In Maki's case, she was born with superhuman physical attributes, at the cost of having an almost zero amount of cursed energy (even less than an ordinary human being)
Mai on the other hand was born with a very powerful cursed technique (the ability to transform cursed energy into physical matter, which under certain conditions could very well make her a special grade sorcerer) but in exchange she was born with very little cursed energy, not as little as Maki, but still much less than an average sorcerer, and as a result, her cursed technique is pretty much useless
Normally both should be very powerful (as is the case with most celestial restrictions) but since they are twins, they share the same heavenly pact
So the existence of one of them constantly prevents the other one from reaching their full potential
Don't worry, later it gets much much Darker
This Maki's pact is not optional. It's almost a "compensation" you gain due to a lack of something. Mechamaru's case also was a heavenly pact: he didn't chose to born with that amount and control capability. It just happened. On the other side, such gift must have a "curse" (a heavenly pact) to balance his powers. In his case, his body and all the physical aspects were the price for the gift of amount and long range control of cursed energy.
11:09 Wait, do you still not hear the words “Fullmetal Alchemist” from the FMAB breaks in your dreams? Wow it’s been 15 years since I first heard them and I’m still haunted

Nobody chooses the heavenly pacts. Not the person, and not their parents. Heaven chooses.
It is absolutely possible for a regular bullet as well to be cut by a katana, its been done on Forged in Fire, just not really while someone is holding said katana.
"Objectively better off with it". Oh boy.
Got me hyped up for Toji 😂
Can’t wait for the sister fight 🤺
You two are my favorite reactors and you each have awesome personalities also I love your perspective on everything you watch lastly I love how much you each love all your cute animals.

Maybe you notice in editing for Mechamaru vs Panda
28:55 I mean, i think she knows the hold. She told Nobara that she's doing this to spite her family, see the look on their faces. And when Megumi asked about who she wants to save, she said she didn’t care if her actions saved anyone.

( 17:20 oh this is the track from the intermission s1.
17:29 her voice sounds like she's means it in English, but in this moment it sounded like she didn't actually hate her - like almost tearful
Like more distraught?
The "heavenly" part of heavenly pact is it not being anybody's decision. It is a "blessing bestowed by god" type thing where you never asked for it, and nobody did it to you. They were just born with that as part of who they are, much the same way that sorcerers either are born with a certain technique or not.
one of my fav episodes ❤
I don't really care much for sub vs dubs discussions because i thought it didn't matter....now i'm having serious issues with the voices and most importantly the translations....i won't bore you all with the details but just know that this dub actually hurts my soul...specially because it took out MY BESTO FRIENDO.
3:56 Montana im with you
17:45 "Water?!?$ This ain't Demon Slayer! Lolz
Regular pacts are concentual contacts either with one's own curse energy(like Nanami's overtime boost) or with a another cursed entity(like Yuji and Sukuna's pact that brought Yuji back from death). Heavenly pacts are nonconcentual impositions that have a compensatory bonus.
In Maki's case, the downside for a normal person would be entirely negligible, for a normal sorcerer would be mostly negligible, and for the family she was born to is heavily exacerbated. She would have had the choice of what life to lead without much resistance if she was born to any other family, but because the zenin are famous for their strength with cursed energy she has to fight harder to be seen as anything more than dirt.
In Mecamaru's case, the upside is only useful to a sorcerer. His volume of cursed energy started at a point that pro sorcerers would envy and his range when using it is unmatched even by those who have trained a lifetime. The downside makes life nearly unlivable though and so he had to be a sorcerer where at least the upside could be used. He never really had a choice to live separated from the world of curses.
(At 16:53) Mai hate Maki because Maki left her sister behind, break her promise.
Mai has abandonment issues.
as others have said heavenly pacts are involuntary, you have them at birth whether you wanted them or not and they basically always have some kind of trade off where you lose one thing in exchange for another, but again it's an "exchange" you didn't agree to, this is probably why they're called heavenly pacts because it's seemingly given from heaven or the universe itself. We've seen two heavenly pacts so far, Mechamaru has a heavenly pact which in exchange for his disabled and frail body he has a ton of cursed energy that he can use over extremely long distances, and Maki's heavenly pact which in exchange for her ability to use cursed energy and see cursed spirits granted her superhuman strength and speed.
People with heavenly packs is not because they chose it
What it means is one can have one ability but loses other best example is mechamaru he lost the ability of having limbs and but in returns he has so much curse energy that the range of his curse is not being limited by where he is hence being able to control a puppet as his own body using curse techniques
How much longer are they going to refer to themselves as “newlyweds”? They’ve been married for like a year already or something 💀
I doubt they'll change titles partway through a playlist.
No way it's been this long, it feels like yesterday lol, at least for me it does.
@@Yewtewba removing “newlyweds” out of the title isn’t the same as removing the name of the episode from the title. It’s unnecessary

IT'S JUST LIKE CARBONARA!? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY? IT'S NOTHING LIKE CARBONARA, HOW DARE YOU.
Sincerely, a deeply hurt Italian.
But, genuinely, how is that similar to a carbonara, this is bugging me so much and I'm sure the rest of the country agree.
2:04 Grade 2~
Women in JJK are perfect. I've never seen a shounen work with them as well as this anime.
Maki would be the next toji, but because of mai she can't fully achieve her Heavenly restriction
Also, I'll admit I'm no expert, but I am pretty sure that Mai was NOT using rubber bullets against Maki. Especially her crying that single tear when her seventh bullet was going straight at Maki's head seems to indicate she really *was* trying to kill her.
Uploading 1 ep a week is crazy, its gonna take u almost 2 months to complete s1
The wording can be confusing, but a Heavenly Pact is not something you agree to, its forced. Maki has been like that since birth, similar to Mechamaru who has been fragile forever. Maki is special because usually the heavenly pact gives you extreme upgrade to your cursed technique (Mechamaru has ridiculous range and control), but Maki HAS no cursed energy or technique to make stronger so it make her a physical MONSTER of a sorcerer.
I love this show man, so incredible.
Kenny Callouts is on the case!
Mei thirst counter incoming?
Not for season 2 💀
The noodles are yummy btw. It’s an affordable lunch option for me.
Someday theyre gonna watch Soul Eater. And theyll have seen all of my favorites

Is it just me or do I like Momo and Utahime voice? 😅
kenny and montana DONT READ what im typed type a few lines down it’s not a spoiler but i was you to be surprised when it comes up in the show season 2 episode 1 i think
i cannot WAIT for gojos “you cryin?” to come up i don’t both of them are gonna swooooon for this man’s voice there above anything else!
mei mei will soon go from the most liked character to one of the least liked characters LMAO
Think of Maki's pact like this. What if she decided to not be a Sorcerer? What if she went into the human world and became the World's best female athlete? She'd probably be able to be #1 in every sport she wanted to join. Depending on the amp, she may even be able to beat men. Imagine her beating Mike Tyson. Sure, no Cursed Technique, but she could earn millions.
Maki is just that girl 😂
Love this episode because we learn about Maki and how she was treated
I’m so happy they met Mei Mei oddly she is my favorite 😂
Good taste you have.
Ui Ui agrees.
You people wait until you mett toji, you will releize the true potential of heavenly pact.
I dont know why the dub decided to call heavenly pacts and restrictions the same thing. A pact is something you have to keep yourself. A restriction is something that you have no control over. Maki has a heavenly restriction. The name says it for itself. Her cursed energy is restricted, meaning she cant use it at all, since birth. She didnt make any kind of pact when she was born. She was born that way without her making a choice. Pacts are something you have a choice in
I've been recommending this for a while to a lot of people, but I think you two would be amazing to watch the show RWBY, I only thought of it rn because you guys mentioned how you liked the spotlight being on the women of this show, RWBY has a lot of men and women but the four main characters are all badass women. I hope you guys watch it at some point, I would recommend when you do to watch the character trailers before the show. :)
You keep coming to the misunderstanding that they choose heavenly pacts. They don’t, the pacts are forced by “the heavens” for a lack of a better word. People with heavenly pacts got no choice. Dub changing it from restriction to pact really doesn’t help there tho.
Im in 2024😅
Also feel like the dub does not hit in jjk weirdly worded things and what not
For the love of all that is holy! Please do not simp over MeiMei! She is the devil!
THAT'S JUST LIKE CARBONARA? WHAAAATTTT? as an italian, i am EXTREMELLYYYY OFFENDED (joke of course, but yeah, kinda offended), absolutely nothing in that thing remotely resembles carbonara. don't ever say that again please, for the sake of italy
and i am not even joking, literally nothing in that resembles carbonara. carbonara is done with spaghetti, guanciale (not bacon, is guanciale, they're different), very fresh egg, aged Pecorino Romano cheese, Grana Padano cheese if you like and grated salt and black pepper. that thing was like, pepper, water, milk, udon (japanese spaghetti for ramen), like, NOTHING IN THAT THING RESEMBLES CARBONARA lol
@@bicube7529 I just made a similar comment, I can't get over the fact she called that a carbonara T_T other than the things you mentioned, there was even seafood in there, how was that a carbonara, there was not one ingredient in that thing in common with it.

Let’s react watch haikyuu
This episode actually make me like Mai *less*. "Oh, life is so hard, you should have just forced yourself into servitude with me because being independent is too scary!" Spare me. She projects onto everyone else because she's too weak to confront her own fears, and expects her sister to just kowtow to the clan and live like a wretch. It's heartbreaking seeing siblings fight like this, I guess, but honestly, eff her, I'd cut her out of my life too if she were my sister.
Mai was literally forced to be a Jujutsu Sorcerer because of Maki. She has all the right to hate her. If you read the manga, you know very well what happened to Mai. Even after being forced to become a Jujutsu Sorcerer and having a miserable life, she sacrificed herself for her sister.
The dialogue in dubbed is so much better than subbed (this episode), as it sounds more like a real conversation. I normally prefer subbed, but sometimes in JJK the subbed dialogue and conversations sound dumb (very small amount, the story is written so well, that when it doesn't it gets highlighted), I think it might be how the subtitles are worded. I did like this episode but I hated the dialogue between Noboru and Momo, and the dialogue between Maki and Mai, in subbed it sounded more like Mai wanted both of them to stay as losers, in dubbed it actually makes sense she didn't want to me a Sorcerer and wanted to just be normal and not deal with scary curses.
So basicaly Blondie try to play victim card. But Nobara has to big balls for that bulshit.

Is the woman even able to follow the story or the lines? Isn't her sense of humor too bad?
I don't see an issue 🤷🏽♀️

It would've definitely been less confusing if the dub just called it heavenly restriction instead of heavenly pact
