Justifying why someone would explain their powers in a fight is genuinely one of the best writing decisions in the entire story. It quickly and efficiently explains the capabilities of a character and their powerset to us while not making the characters look dumb as bricks for randomly explaining their powers to an enemy for absolutely no reason. And it's a believable explanation as well: you explain the way your abilities work, thus putting yourself in a major disadvantage, but you get a big power boost in return.
Yes... On the other hand... The rule is so obviously existing for this only reason that it still kinda is dumb... Yes... It doesn't make the characters dumb when they use it but it makes Gege look dumb in my eyes... Or lazy... I don't think there is simple moment in the whole anime and manga where someone would go "and now I will explain my technique to be more efficient" same as there are moments where curse users could explain there and technique and don't (as far as I remember)

I'll never forget the fact that they had Brownberry Wheat Bread that I would buy ALL the time for my breakfasts of eggs + toast + sriracha. It was so perfect in density and when toasted would be even more perfect for my breakfast. Plus it was healthy, and was wrapped up so tight (one 'skin-tight' layer over the typical layer you find on all loafs of bread) that it was ALWAYS super fresh and soft and amazing when you took it home. Then it wasn't there anymore for like a month, then it came back and I was SUPER hyped. But... it sucked. Being an adult is no bueno sometimes.
The reason for the eye coverings, at least for, Gojo is that his ‘six eyes’ ability gives him so much information at once that it can get overwhelming when he’s not doing anything to the point where he doesn’t see the people around him as people anymore, just pure information. That’s why he only takes it off during serious fights.
The lore and the power system for this show is amazing, being a shonen you'd expect some simple "im more powerful" kinda stuff, but the curse energy system and the curses themselves are explained in such cool way.
Except most of the power system is "im more powerful". Techniques and the amount of cursed energy you produce are mostly set in stone, the exceptions are those that have a weaker technique but have figured out clever ways to use it(like Mei Mei).
